A religion or church can be renewed only through the Living Word

Question: Beloved Jesus, my question is whether the judgment that has been pronounced against the Church of England today extends to the Anglican Communion worldwide? My personal reason for asking that is that in my own spiritual journey I have received tremendous help and blessing from the Anglican Communion in the shape of the Scottish Episcopal Church. As an example of that, I was taught that the love of God is always absolutely unconditional.

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels: (October 27, 2007)

The judgment is specific to the Church of England. Now, naturally, you will know that many other churches in the Anglican Communion or Community are very much tied to and based on the Church of England—that they have taken on many of the things and the beliefs in the Church of England. And so the judgment is not only for a specific institution, but it is actually a judgment of the consciousness behind that institution.

So the judgment in that sense extends to everyone who is affected by that state of consciousness. But there are certainly churches within the congregation, within the Anglican Community, that have already begun the process of separating themselves from that consciousness. And you have been fortunate enough to be associated with one example of this.

Again, this does not mean that the Church of Scotland is in any way living up to its highest potential. For there is still much more transformation needed before the true teachings of Christ are restored. But it is indeed true that there is always a range of consciousness, even within the Catholic church. You see that some individual congregations or communities or churches do not blindly follow the dictates of Rome, but have created their own set of practices, their own set of attitudes and beliefs and world views that are much more flexible than the dogmatic dictates that come out of the papacy.

And so we do indeed work with everyone, everywhere, who are open to new ideas. We work with people everywhere. We do not desire you, who are the spiritual people, to form a generalized consciousness, saying that because of what we say about the Catholic church, the Catholic church is bad and all Catholics are bad. This of course is the old dualistic way. For we work with many lifestreams everywhere.

There are many people in the Church of England, and in the Catholic church, there are many priests and leaders who have risen to a higher state of consciousness. And we work with them on an individual basis. But you must understand that anyone who belongs to a certain outer church, such as the Catholic church, is still serving to maintain the institution as a whole. This does not mean that they should necessarily separate themselves, for the potential is that they could help transform the whole.

But what you need to realize is that what we are doing is addressing the consciousness behind the institutions, and that is the consciousness that needs to be challenged, that needs to be exposed—and that ultimately needs to be judged. So, the judgment is first and foremost against the state of consciousness.

In this respect, consider my statement from the Bible, that I am not judging people, for what is really judging people is the Word. By your word you shall be justified or condemned. For you justify or condemn yourself by the word you accept. Do you accept the Living Word or do you cling to the dead word? Yet until people have experienced the Living Word, how can they really make that choice? If they have grown up in a culture where they were only presented with a dead word, they have never really had a choice.

And so, that is the way we desire all of you to – in your own individual ways – become the open doors for the Living Word, so that you can give people that true choice. And again, this is the only way to renew any Christian church—that a particular church opens itself up for some form of expression of the Living Word.

Be careful to realize that this does not mean that the church needs to accept that I can speak through a physical person and that they need to follow what is being said through this messenger or anyone else. There are different forms of the Living Word. But the essential realization is that the Living Word comes from a higher source, from the Spirit of truth that is beyond man-made doctrines. And thus, when you have the tradition of the Living Word, you have a foundation for reaching beyond the duality of the ego. And this is the only way – the absolutely only way – that you can avoid that a church will be taken over and perverted by the duality consciousness.

There is no other way to reach beyond duality than through the Living Word. For you cannot reach beyond it with the intellect alone. For if that was possible, I can assure you that there are many Christian churches who would have found the kingdom of God through intellectual reasoning. But despite the fact that they have the most elaborate intellectual doctrines and apologetics, they have not found the kingdom, have they?

What I desire to add to this is that there are indeed many members and leaders and preachers in Christian churches who have some measure of the Living Word. Certainly, I do not mean to imply that it is not found anywhere, but that only a few people have it. We want to get away from all exclusivity and realize that all human beings have the potential to be instruments for the Living Word, but there will still be some who will hold leadership positions in various organizations and institutions.

And so, again, we honor all those who hold some measure of the Living Word, but we also want to make you, who are the most spiritual people, aware of the fact that the Living Word always flows through the consciousness of an individual. Which is why we are open about making it clear that when I speak through this particular messenger, I am speaking through the messenger’s consciousness and thus what I say is somewhat affected by the culture in which the messenger grew up. Which is why there are some limitations on what I can say here, because if the messenger has no outer awareness, there is not the vocabulary, the concepts in the mind, that I can use to formulate words through this particular instrument. And this is why many people need to have it.

But the other very important realization that springs from this is that those who want to be the best possible instruments for the Living Word need to be always aware of the potential that they might color the Word through certain firmly held beliefs. There are some Christian preachers that have a measure of the Living Word, of the Holy Spirit as many of them prefer to call it. But because they have certain very firm beliefs – that they are not willing to question – well then the Living Word does indeed become colored by those beliefs, so that the Living Word could never question those beliefs through that particular preacher. For if the Living Word was to question it, the preacher himself would believe that this was the devil speaking and he would thus cut it off.

That is why you need to contemplate the statement that the Holy Spirit bloweth where it listeth. And that for a time, you might have the Holy Spirit flow through you as an opportunity, but if you are not willing to transcend yourself and your firmly held beliefs – thus flowing with the Spirit, flowing with the River of Life – well then you will eventually be cut off from the Holy Spirit. And that is when you see some preachers not being willing to give up the position they have achieved, and thus immediately tuning in to a lower spirit who still gives them some sense of power that can blind their followers and make them think that everything is as it used to be.

Certainly, my beloved, Kim does not in any way entertain the idea that he has a monopoly on the real Jesus. For if he were to do that, well then the real Jesus would very quickly withdraw and perhaps some impostor would come in instead.

Being an instrument of the Spirit requires you to be willing to constantly transcend yourself. For what is the Spirit other than constant self-transcendence? The River of Life is constantly flowing because it is constantly transcending itself and becoming More, whereby the finite expression of the Creator comes closer and closer to its infinite source. This is the cosmic dance, the in-breath and the out-breath of God. Flow with it, and let go of the temptation to put it in a mental box of any kind. For no mental box will hold the Spirit—but it WILL hold you.

Apparitions of Mother Mary or black magic

Question: I have a question about the apparitions of Mother Mary, and I want to know if they are true, because I have heard that they all came through black magic, to come from the people. And I want to know if this is true.

Answer from ascended master Mother Mary through Kim Michaels:

It is not correct that all apparitions have been precipitated through black magic. However one might say that there has not been an example where I could appear to the people in a pure form, for who am I? Am I the Mother Mary revered by Catholics, or am I the universal Divine Mother for all human beings on earth?

The apparitions in Fatima were indeed genuine. The apparitions in Medjugorje started out as genuine, but I have withdrawn from that place. And so what you see is that even when there was a genuine apparition, such as in Fatima, what the people saw and how they interpreted the events was very much colored by their Catholic beliefs. And so what I mean is that even though I let my light shine, the people did not see the light in its pure form. They saw it colored to a larger or smaller degree by their own consciousness, which is precisely why I appeared to children who were less susceptible to coloring the light than adults would have been.

Nevertheless, my beloved, you will see – if you studied the history of Fatima – how the Catholic Church has used many subtle schemes to cast that event in the “proper,” so to speak, Catholic light, and thereby use it to reinforce people’s beliefs in the Catholic Church, and the belief that I or the apparitions supported the Catholic Church and affirmed it as the only true Church. But in fact I gave prophecies about the potential demise of the Church, if it was not willing to transcend itself.

So one might say, my beloved, that when an apparition is colored by people’s beliefs to a certain degree, well that does become a form of black magic. For now the people start projecting onto the event something out of their own consciousness. They do not see what I came to show them, they do not hear what I came to tell them. They see what they want to see, they hear what they want to hear. And this has been the case in Medjugorje, where the people’s consciousness has created the continuation of the so-called apparitions. And so the messages are no longer coming from me, but are coming from people’s consciousness. Not that the messages are necessarily negative, but they do serve to uphold, of course, the consciousness out of which they spring.

And so you will see that it is the same challenge that we have described that is the challenge of Christ, where the first challenge is to recognize that the Christ has appeared in this world. So the first challenge is to recognize that the Divine Mother has appeared in a way that is beyond the material world. But then comes the second challenge of Christ, which is—will you then use that appearance to allow the Christ to take you beyond your mental box, or will you superimpose the images from your mental box upon the event, and therefore, so to speak, force the Christ to fit into your mental box, so you have justification for not changing.

This is what you saw with Peter, my beloved, (Matthew 16:22-23) where he recognized the Christ in Jesus, but then attempted to force Jesus into his mental box. And that is why, as I have said, from its inception the Catholic Church was based on this approach of wanting to fit Christ into an earthly framework. And thus, it should be no surprise that the church will also seek to force an apparition of the Divine Mother into its Catholic framework. And that is why we talk about a spiritual catch-22, where those who are trapped in a certain illusion—well my beloved, how can we free them from that illusion, if they are not willing to look beyond the belief system that created the illusion?

Christians – Catholics and others – raising questions about the church

TOPICS: Many Christians cannot ignore problems with church or doctrine, but don’t know where to go – questioning a church is a sign of spiritual maturity – seek Jesus’ true teachings – the outer church is NOT the key to salvation – the key is a shift in consciousness – Jesus challenged rigid leaders – official Christianity always out of touch with Jesus’ inner teaching – seek a personal relationship with Jesus – your personal comforter is your Christ self – the inner church of the heart –

Question: Jesus, Where do you want me to go? What am I to do? Where is my husband? Is there a church for me? I cannot become a Baptist, they don’t accept Mary. The Episcopalians accept gay marriage. The Church of my childhood has become riddled with pedophilia and homosexuality, and denies women as participants. I feel lost and confused, except for the Eucharist. What can you tell me?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

My beloved friend, I truly understand your dilemma. My heart, and the heart of Mother Mary, goes out to you and to the millions of Christians – Catholics and others – who are beginning to raise serious questions about the outer church in which they grew up. They can no longer ignore the abuses by priests, the doctrinal inconsistencies, other imperfections in the organization or the behavior of church officials. Yet because they have grown up in a culture that told them the outer church is an essential part of their life and salvation, they feel somewhat lost and don’t know where to go.

I hope I can help you understand that Mother Mary and I are not blind to this phenomenon, and we are here to assist you. In fact, this is one of the main reasons we have released the many teachings and tools on our websites—we know that many people will need them as they free themselves from the bonds of orthodox Christianity. I hope I can help you see that although it can be difficult to question your church affiliation, it is truly a sign of spiritual maturity. You are ready to take the next step on your personal path, and to take that step you only need a clearer understanding of the true teachings I gave 2,000 years ago.

So where do I want you to go? I want you to start by setting aside some time to seriously ponder one of the most important statements I made 2,000 years ago:

20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. (Luke, Chapter 17)

You have not been taught the true meaning of this statement by your church, and the reason is that all mainstream churches ignore the very core of my teaching. Yet it was this often overlooked statement that was the main reason the Jewish authorities wanted me killed. You see, they had created a religious culture in which the outer religion was seen as the key – in fact the only key – to salvation. Thus, the people in control of that religion had almost unlimited power over the population. And as a wise person said, “All power corrupts, but absolute power corrupts absolutely.” This had led to much hypocrisy, much misuse of power and many of the same human shortcomings that you see in Christian churches today.

Read the scriptures with this in mind, and you will see that I consistently challenged all those who had set themselves up between the people and their God. I called them hypocrites, blind leaders, false prophets, wolves in sheep’s clothing and sons of the devil, and I compared them to whitened sepulchers filled with dead men’s bones. I did this because the true message I came to give to the people was that the key to salvation is not the outer religion. It never has been and it never will be.

The true key to salvation is that you enter the kingdom of God. That kingdom is within you because it is a state of consciousness, namely the Christ consciousness. This is the key of knowledge that the lawyers had taken away:

Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered. (Luke 11:52)

Sadly, many of the leaders of modern Christian churches, have become trapped by the same state of consciousness as the lawyers of old. They are not willing to enter my inner kingdom, and they seek to keep their congregations trapped in the illusion that the outer church will save them.

When you realize this one truth – and I explain it in more detail throughout my website – you gain an entirely new perspective on Christianity. You see that I came to set people free from the tyranny and abuse of an outer religion—because the outer religion will always be susceptible to human power plays and weaknesses. This is not to say that an outer religion cannot help people, but it can do so only when a critical mass of leaders and followers heed my call to follow in my footsteps and do the work that I did. Only the mind of Christ can prevent an outer religion from deteriorating into both material and spiritual corruption.

When you understand this, you see that I am obviously not happy with the fact that the Christian religion has become as rigid and abusive as the old Jewish religion. This was never to my liking, and thus you can see that for many centuries – in fact from its very inception – official Christianity has been out of alignment with my true teachings.

So where do I want you to go? I want you to go into your heart and find me—the real, living Jesus Christ. I want you to leave behind the man-made idol you were brought up to worship and accept me as your older brother, as your truest friend. I want you to build a direct, personal relationship with me. Remember that I said, “I am the Way, the truth and the Life!” I did not say that the outer church was the way, the truth and the life.

You say that you feel confused except for the Eucharist. The reason is that your lifestream realizes the value of absorbing my body and my blood. To rise above confusion, you simply need to realize that the true meaning of “my body and my blood” is that you absorb my consciousness. You must do as Paul said:

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: (Philippians 2:5)

I understand that for those who have grown up in an orthodox or mainstream Christian church, the thought of having a personal relationship with me can seem intimidating. So if that applies to you, consider the meaning of another important statement:

16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelt with you, and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. (John, Chapter 14)

This comforter is a part of my spirit that has been broken for you in the form of your Christ self. When you take it in through the Eucharist, it will form the leaven:

Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened. (Matthew 13:33)

Your Christ self is your personal comforter who will guide you to a greater understanding of truth, thereby raising the “whole loaf” of your consciousness until you attain the mind of Christ. In fact, in a spiritual sense, your Christ self is the husband of your lifestream, and union with your Christ self is the true meaning of the concept that you are wed to Christ. So if you cannot yet conceive of having a direct, personal relationship with me, focus on your Christ self.

I give many teachings on my website to help you understand the truth that your Christ self is ready to confirm in your heart. We also give tools for helping you establish the inner contact with your Christ self, such as the exercise for attunement, Mother Mary’s rosaries – that are infinitely more powerful than the Catholic rosary – and Archangel Michael’s Rosary.

My point is that the key to salvation is not the outer church, but the true church, which is the inner church of the heart. In a very real sense, those who walk the path to Christhood become the living church that is built from the lively stones.

Once you begin to put on the mind of Christ, you will become independent of any outer church. This means that you do not necessarily need an outer church. Yet it also means that you can participate in any church without being burdened by its imperfections. You can go to church to seek true fellowship and to help others.

So again, I have prepared for you a supper that is far more nourishing than anything this world has to offer. It is found in the pages of my website. Simply study what I offer with an open mind. Use your intuition, and I can assure you that your Christ self will guide you to where you need to go. The kingdom of God is the Christ consciousness, and that is why I said:

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (Matthew 6:33)

On my website, I have given you what you need to enter the kingdom of God within you. Please do not reject my gift. This truly is the bread of life, which is broken for you. Take eat, this is my body, the body of my Christ consciousness, that I have laid down for the life of my friends. Who are my true friends, my true family:

For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother. (Matthew 12:50)

It is the will of the Father that you attain the same Christ consciousness that I attained. After all, no one comes to the Father save through the Christ consciousness that I AM.

Don’t focus on Jesus’ suffering, but his victory over suffering

Question: Every time I have attended Good Friday Mass (I am Catholic) when they read the passion, I absolutely cannot say the responses. There is a part of me that cannot say the words out loud, such as “Crucify him”. It is almost as difficult for me to watch any harm done to anyone or anything (movies, news). What is your opinion of having people re-enact the passion both in the reading of the Passion and in portrayals such as in Mexico?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

If you read my discourse on the stages of spiritual development, you will see that there is a certain group of people on this planet who are willfully rebelling against God and God’s purpose. These are the people who will deliberately hurt or torture others because doing so gives them a sense of power and they have an insatiable desire for power. You will also see that there is a large group of people who are not deliberately rebelling against God, but who have either become angry at God or who have become so hurt that they have become indifferent or numb. These are the people who are easily pulled into a mob consciousness, and most of the people who made up the mob that participated in my crucifixion belonged to this category of people.

Any time a mob consciousness does occur, it is because some of the rebellious people, in cooperation with dark forces not in a physical body, have created a vortex of negative energy. When this vortex becomes strong enough, it begins to pull people into a downward spiral, and as the energies spread with explosive speed, you can literally see that a large group of people can almost instantaneously be turned into a mob. This is indeed one of the most dangerous phenomena on planet earth, and I can assure you that it is a most unpleasant experience to be the focus of an angry mob.

Most of the people who are pulled into such a negative spiral are simply not strong enough to resist it, and they do not understand what is happening to them on an energy level. They do not see the negative vortex, and they do not even feel how it overpowers their personal energy fields. This is one of the main reasons I said, “Father forgive them, for they know not what they do.” In other words, even if people are pulled into a mob consciousness, it does not necessarily mean that they are evil of bad people. They simply have too little self-control, too little sense of individual identity, too little Christ consciousness to avoid being pulled down by the mass consciousness.

As you will see from my discourse on the levels of development, there are people who have started healing their psychology and who have become seekers of truth. Such people have gained enough self-control that they simply will not be pulled into a mob consciousness. That is why you and many others find it difficult to say the responses when the passion is read in church. Many people also find it difficult to watch a re-enactment of the passion or even watch the latest movie about my passion.

I can only commend you and other people for having risen to a higher level of consciousness that makes you resistant to the downward pull of a negative spiral created by dark forces. The fact that you find it difficult to say the responses, such as “Crucify him!” is a good sign that you have risen to a higher level of consciousness. Another good sign is the fact that you, being a Catholic, are willing to send me a question on this website. I know that many Catholics hardly dare to look at this site, and many of those who do look reject it, and thereby reject me, without giving it serious consideration.

Let me say that it is obviously a good thing that you find it difficult to watch harm done to any part of life. Nevertheless, many people find this difficult precisely because they have deep wounds in their lifestreams, either from been harmed personally in a past life or from watching harm done to other people. For such people I would highly recommend that they make an effort to heal these wounds, and one of the best tools for doing so is Mother Mary’s Forgiveness Rosary.

The reason it is important to heal such wounds is that if you have very deep wounds, you might tend to avoid looking at the fact that there are many problems on this planet that need to be corrected and that will not be corrected unless the good people stop ignoring the problems and speak out against them. In other words, I need those who are harmless as doves, and therefore would never harm another part of life, yet wise as serpents, and therefore willing to look at the many imperfect conditions that are direct results of the serpentine lies and challenge those lies wherever they are found.

As I describe in my discourse on the stages of development, people are at many different levels of consciousness. Therefore, I generally do not have a problem with reenacting the passion because it does allow people to go through the feelings, and this might indeed heal their feelings and help them reach a higher level of maturity. There are many people who have participated in a re-enactment of the passion and who have seen the fallacy of being in the mob consciousness and calling out for me to be crucified.

That being said, I would prefer that all reenactments of the passion would avoid putting too much attention on my suffering. There is a fine balance between recognizing the events around my crucifixion, without going too far into the extreme of focusing on the negatives. This is just one of the problems with Mel Gibson’s movie about my passion. I would also prefer that any reenactment of my passion always ends with my resurrection and ascension, so that people’s attention is lifted to what was the true significance of my crucifixion and physical death. It was not the fact that I was crucified but the fact that I was resurrected afterwards that is significant for humankind.

Was Jesus an occult teacher?

Question: Dear master Jesus: I have been talking to people and informing them about the book The Christ Is Born in You and this website. I have been very open and honest with them but most have told me that I am dealing with material involved in the occult. In most Christian practices the occult is viewed as satanic and should be avoided.

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

Thank you for raising this very important question. I do indeed have some thoughts for you to ponder. Let me begin by giving a common definition of the word occult, as found in the dictionary:

Related to or dealing with supernatural influences or phenomena.

Beyond the realm of human perception or comprehension.

Accessible only to initiates.

Hidden from normal view, concealed, secret.

If you read the New Testament with this definition in mind, you will see that every aspect of my teachings, as recorded in the scriptures, deals with the supernatural. Much of what I say is beyond the realm of human comprehension and cannot be understood through the relativity of the dualistic mind, which is the normal state of consciousness for most people. You will also see that I gave my disciples certain advanced teachings that I did not reveal to the multitudes [Mark 4:34].

Therefore, one could very well say that everything that is recorded about me in the official scriptures can be used to label me as an occult teacher. This is indeed what the orthodox Jews did to me when they brought me to trial and crucified me. Surely, they used different words, but the essence of their argument was that I went beyond their orthodox doctrines, and therefore I was not of the truth, not of the light, not of God. Consequently, they accused me of being of the devil.

I can assure you that if the terminology had been around back then, the orthodox Jews would have labeled me, Jesus Christ, as a very dangerous New Age Cult leader. They would have found ample ammunition for this accusation in the statements I made. I told people to leave their jobs and their families and to put me before everything else. I told people to be willing to lose their lives for my sake. Can you see how the modern anti-cult movement would have had a field day with these statements? Can you see how they would have denounced me and put a label on me as being of the devil?

Can you also see that even those in orthodox Christianity, who claim to be my representatives on earth, have used a fear-based mindset to create the idea that anything which goes beyond orthodox Christian doctrines is occult and that anything occult is of the devil? It is erroneous to say that anything occult is of the devil. Occult simply means something beyond normal human comprehension, and this also applies to God. Would you label God as being of the devil?

In reality, Christianity has been turned into the same kind of fear-based religion as the orthodox Jewish religion that crucified me. This fear-based approach has been taken to the point that if I appeared in a physical body today and preached my true inner teachings, I would be persecuted by orthodox Christians. They would label me as being of the devil or call me a cult leader. Indeed, this is how some of them label the teachings I bring forth on this website.

As explained in the book The Secret Coming of Christ, those who take a fear-based approach to religion will reject anything that goes beyond their orthodox doctrines. They do this by creating an artificial label and saying that anything which goes beyond doctrine fits that label, and therefore it is of the devil.

This, of course, is a very immature approach to religion, and it springs from fear. It also springs from a refusal to take up the responsibility of becoming a Christed being and building your attunement with your Christ self, so that you can discern what is of God and what is not of God. It is a sad fact that many of the leaders in orthodox Christianity think that they represent me on earth, think that they are following in my footsteps, yet they are refusing to put on the Christ mind and discern between the true inner teachings of Jesus Christ and the outer doctrines that are like whitened sepulchers filled with dead men’s bones.

It is necessary for a sincere spiritual seeker to recognize that the devil has a clear purpose. He is trying to fool those who are my best servants on earth. He is not concerned about those who are completely enveloped in the dualistic mind, because they are already in his power. The devil’s main concern is to fool those who have already found some truth but have not yet manifested the Christ discernment that makes it possible for them to see through the subtle lies of the devil.

These are precisely the kind of people that you are meeting in orthodox Christianity. They have seen the truth in my teachings, and they have the potential to rise to a higher level. Yet because they are not willing to confront their fears, they remain paralyzed by those fears. This, of course, is what the devil hopes will happen. You see, contrary to what many people believe, the devil knows he can win two ways. His main goal is to prevent the appearance of a large number of Christed beings on this planet, because he knows from my example that he cannot control a Christed being.

One way to do this is to seek to use people’s fears to make them loyal to a traditional Christian church, which states that I am the only Son of God, and therefore no one else could possibly manifest Christhood. As long as the devil can scare people into accepting this lie, he has them where he wants them. The other way he can win is to get people to rebel against God’s law.

It is a sad fact that many Christians refuse to exercise their power of discernment, and they will not look at anything beyond orthodox doctrines. For some of these people, this might be wise. If they are not yet ready to take responsibility for their spiritual path and make an all-out effort to increase their attunement with their Christ selves, they would not be able to see through the subtle lies of the devil. And therefore it might be safer for them to stay in a traditional religion for a time.

If you look at my discourse on the levels of spiritual attainment, you will see that some lifestreams are so confused or wounded that they need the outer stability of a traditional belief system in order to be healed. Yet there are many lifestreams in this age who need to come up higher in order to make further progress. They need to move into the phase of being spiritual seekers who are open to ideas that go beyond orthodox doctrines.

If they do not take this step, they will stagnate, and therefore they will essentially become the prisoners of the devil, whom they are seeking to avoid by taking refuge in a Christian church. In other words, there comes a point where a lifestream can no longer make progress by staying in a fear-based religion. To make further progress, the lifestream must run the risk of opening its mind to new ideas. Obviously, this leads to the risk that the lifestream might open its mind to false ideas. Yet it is a basic fact of life that if you are afraid of falling down, you will never learn to walk. In a very important discourse, I explain that any religion can become a trap that prevents your salvation.

Obviously, I am well aware that many lifestreams are facing the dilemma that you see outpictured in your Christian friends. They need to move forward and open their minds to a higher understanding of the spiritual side of life, yet they cannot quite let go of the fear-based approach to religion. That is why they cling to orthodox Christianity, which seems to offer them a safe haven. This is precisely why I have asked Kim to create my website and write the books. My purpose is to give these Christians a way to open their minds to new ideas without being exposed to false ideas. Obviously, the ascended masters are also using other methods for bringing forth a variety of true spiritual teachings in this age.

Unfortunately, there is no way to guarantee success in the material universe. My dilemma is simple. In order to help people come up higher, I must give them teachings that go beyond orthodox doctrines. Yet the very fact that the website and the books contain ideas that go beyond orthodox doctrines makes it predictable that some Christians will label these teachings as occult or even of the devil. Even I cannot solve that problem. I can only bow in respect to people’s free will and wait for them to make a better decision.

If you feel an inner prompting to attempt to help these people open their minds to a higher understanding, including giving them the teaching I have just given you, then I certainly will appreciate your help in this matter. Just make sure that you are non-attached to the outcome, as I explain in the last part of The Christ Is Born in You. As a representative of Christ, you should never attempt to influence people’s choices. That is what the devil has been doing since his rebellion against God, and it has never been the way of the Christ.

Should the Episcopal church elect a homosexual bishop?

Question: The Episcopal Church in New Hampshire has elected a bishop who is openly homosexual, but the election is not yet confirmed by the church’s convention. What is your comment on this?

It is inevitable that this topic will create a deep division in the Episcopal church and potentially in many other Christian churches. In my teachings on the spiritual cause of homosexuality, I explain that a debate often becomes polarized between two extremes. I explain that some people are so devoted to God’s power that they tend to become too inflexible and judgmental. Other people are so devoted to God’s love that they tend to become too lenient and accepting. This is exactly what you see happening in many modern churches. You see people who hold on to a strict, or even a literal, interpretation of the Scriptures. Some of these people become fundamentalist Christians while others remain in their churches and form more conservative branches of those churches. Others have realized that if the Christian religion is to remain relevant in the coming age, then it must adapt to the current culture.

It is the struggle between these two factions that you see outpictured in the debate concerning the homosexual Bishop. This debate has the potential to split the Episcopal Church into two factions, as has happened to Christian churches many times over the past 2,000 years. This goes all the way back to the different approaches taken by Peter and Paul, which set the stage for the conflict over Christ’s divinity and thereby the split between the eastern and western churches.

Please understand that I do not make human judgments, and I do not condemn any human being. I love people on both sides of this issue, and I would like to see all of them grow. I would especially like to see them all attain a more balanced approach to religion. I would like to see them all realize that devotion to God’s power and law must always be tempered by love. I would also like them to see that devotion to God’s love must be balanced by the Christ discernment between what is of God and what is not of God. When you have this discernment, you can love people unconditionally without accepting or tolerating behavior that is out of harmony with God’s law.

I must tell you that it is entirely true that if the Christian religion is to remain relevant in the new age, it must change and adapt. Yet this adaptation must not lead to a compromise with the basic principles upon which the Christian religion is founded. The problem is that currently no Christian church is fully in alignment with those principles. This has happened because, as I explain throughout my website, the early Christian church removed many elements of my original teachings. [See Jesus’ teachings on why and how religion must change]

The only way for the Christian religion to remain relevant is that some Christians must make an effort to go back and put in what was taken out. At the same time, some Christians must make the effort to make contact with me and receive the teachings that I can release today. We talk more about this in the book, Save Yourself.

Concerning the issue at hand, let me say that when you read my teaching about the cause of homosexuality, it should be clear that homosexuality is not a condition created by God. Therefore, it is not correct to say that God created a person as a homosexual. Consequently, it is not correct to say that the church should acknowledge homosexuality as natural. When you accept this fact, I think it should be obvious that no church should elect any official who is openly homosexual.

If you are openly homosexual, you have proven that you want to make an issue out of your homosexuality. Homosexuality, and any other sexual imbalance, among clergy is an invitation to problems that will inevitably haunt the church. Why do you think the Catholic Church is currently dealing with massive sexual abuse by priests that threatens to undermine the Church’s credibility with the public? (Not to mention the immense psychological wounds this has created.)

At the same time, let me say that those who support the election of a homosexual Bishop have correctly sensed that the Christian religion’s approach to homosexuality must change. Labeling homosexuality as a sin and telling people to suppress their sexual tendencies simply is not an adequate response in this day and age. Instead, the church needs to develop a higher understanding of spiritual principles and a higher understanding of the true cause of homosexuality. The church can then create a culture in which homosexuals can receive the love of Christ and the understanding of Christ that will help them move forward on their personal path.

Christian churches have become calcified in doctrine and dogma

Question: I have done some studies to prove that there is missing info from the Bible to give evidence of lost books. I have spoken to some of the Christian Church leaders about this subject and some of the Christian people and they still don’t what to acknowledge that these other books have any value etc.

Jesus are you happy I challenged them with the facts or am I wasting my time and God’s energy doing this? I AM trying to do the best I can to help the Christian people in my area. I feel for the ones that are struggling along. They could receive help if they could see through the lies that are controlling them. Are you also happy with my service in the Christian community plus my challenges to the leaders that constructive action is what is needed?

Imagine the situation during the early years of the Christian movement. Although many people had heard me speak, only a relatively small number had gained a deeper understanding of my true message. If all of those people had remained silent, how could Christianity possibly have grown to become a significant religious movement?

The purpose for my mission was to bring renewal to the religious life on this planet. Today, the earth is passing into yet another religious cycle and there is once again a great need for renewal. How can this renewal possibly come about? It can only come about because people like yourself have the courage to speak out about the need for change, the need for growth.

It is ironic, but also very predictable, that the Christian churches of today have become as calcified in doctrine and dogma as the Jewish religion was 2,000 years ago. Back then, I was rejected by the orthodox religious people of the day. Today, many orthodox Christians reject me once again by rejecting the need for change and renewal in the Christian movement.

I am very happy with the fact that you and many other people have the courage to speak out. I encourage you to continue to do so and to refine your ability to speak out in a way that has the best possibility of success.

In so doing, be careful not to become attached to people’s reactions. Do not expect that you will get an instantaneous acceptance of new ideas. You must realize that in any organization some people will rise to positions of power, and they will either enjoy that power or feel comfortable in their positions. Therefore, they will be reluctant to accept anything that might seem to threaten their positions.

Likewise, many church members have become comfortable with certain doctrines and rituals. At inner levels, these people’s lifestreams think they have made some kind of deal with God. They think that if only they keep believing a certain doctrine and following a certain outer ritual, then God simply has to save them. While this is an incorrect assumption, you should be careful about challenging such long-held beliefs.

You need to recognize that some lifestreams have embodied in an mainstream Christian culture for many lifetimes. Therefore, they have become very attached to the orthodox way of life, and you cannot expect them to give up that way of life all at once or within a short period of time.

When you interact with such people, consider yourself to be a farmer who is walking in the fields and sowing seeds. You know that you cannot simply put a seed in the ground and expect that it will sprout within minutes. The seed must lie dormant in the ground for a season before it will begin to take root. Therefore, when you talk to orthodox Christians, do not seek to force them to accept certain ideas and do not present your ideas as if people simply have to accept them. Instead, attempt to present your ideas as questions and give people complete freedom to decide what they will do with your questions.

You see, if you present an idea too forcefully, people will feel threatened and they will immediately close their minds. If you present an idea as an open-ended question, you have a greater chance that some people will actually consider the idea. It might take some time before the idea takes root in their consciousness. However, if people feel threatened by an idea and instantly close their minds, the seed of your idea will fall on barren ground.

My parable of the sower is very applicable to this whole problem. One interpretation of this parable is that God constantly sends his prophets and messengers into this world. They scatter seeds of true ideas, and some of the seeds fall on the barren ground of minds that are closed to a higher understanding of truth. Other seeds fall on the fertile ground of open minds in which the ideas can take root.

Therefore, simply be the sower, who sows the seeds of a higher truth. Let the seeds fall where they may and be not attached to whether they sprout. Be not discouraged if people do not respond immediately to your ideas. Simply allow those ideas time to take root in their consciousness.

One possible approach is to try to make people think about why I was rejected by so many orthodox Jews. This was not because the Jews were bad people; they had simply closed their minds to a higher understanding of truth. If people can see this, then try to make them consider whether Jesus wants his followers of today to be as closed-minded as the Jews who rejected him when he appeared in person. If all of the Jews had been closed-minded, how could I possibly have attracted any followers? In other words, it was people with open minds who helped start the Christian movement, and only people with open minds can ensure its survival.

Ask people to consider the saying, “Seek and ye shall find.” Then, ask them to consider why so many Christians cling to outer doctrines and are afraid to seek a higher understanding. Ask them to consider what they fear. Do they fear that they might find a higher understanding and therefore have to change beliefs with which they are comfortable? Then ask them why I said, “I come not to bring peace, but a sword.” Are they willing to consider a higher truth, or will they cling to the outer doctrines, as the lawyers of old who plotted my death?

Once again, I am happy that you and many other people are speaking out about the changes that are surely needed in the Christian religion. Simply use the tools I have given on my website to build your personal Christhood and continue to refine the way you speak out. Question: Why is it important for Christians to consider reincarnation?

I am bringing up the concept of reincarnation because I want all of my followers to consider this topic. Let me give you the reasons why I consider this topic important.

The concept of reincarnation can explain many of the questions that Christians so far have been unable to answer. If you will contemplate this concept and consider how it applies to some of the questions you have about life and God, you will find many answers in your heart.

When I look at modern Christianity, I see so many people who have made a sincere and devout effort to follow my teachings through the outer scriptures and the outer churches. Yet, because the outer scriptures do not contain the keys to my inner teachings, people have numerous questions that seemingly have no answers. Because of these unanswered questions, many Christians have a very deep, and often unrecognized, anger and resentment towards me and towards God.

Many Christians feel that the mission of Jesus Christ was somehow a slap in the face of humanity. The reason being that orthodox Christianity holds up a goal, yet it provides no clearly defined path to reaching that goal. The goal held up by orthodox Christianity is eternal life, yet orthodox Christianity does not provide a logical path to attaining that eternal life. I hope you can now realize that the main reason why orthodox Christianity does not provide the path to eternal life is that the teachings of individual Christhood have been removed. The only key to eternal life is individual Christhood.

To return to the idea of reincarnation, let me say that this idea can help you answer many of your unanswered questions. For example, many people have seen children who were born with severe handicaps, be they mental, emotional or physical.

If you do not believe in reincarnation, your only option is to reason that God wanted the lifestream to be born that way. You are then left to wonder why God would want a lifestream to come into the world, into what is supposedly the lifestream’s only lifetime, with such a severe handicap. When you add the concept of punishment, promoted by the orthodox church, you are left to reason that God must have wanted to punish that lifestream. Yet, how could at just and loving God want to punish a lifestream who had not even had the opportunity to sin?

When you accept the concept of reincarnation, you see an explanation. Every human being has lived before. Therefore, the conditions you experience in this life are the effects of causes that you personally set in motion in previous lives. In its pure form, the concept of reincarnation does not incorporate the idea of punishment. Let me explain this in greater detail.

When God created the world, God said: “Let there be light.” Light is simply energy. Everything in the entire world of form is made from God’s energy. Therefore, everything you do is done with God’s energy.

God has given you free will, and you can decide what to do with God’s energy. However, it simply would not be just to create a universe in which beings with free will could do anything they wanted regardless of the consequences it had for others. Therefore, God has created the law of cause and effect. This law states that the energy that you send out into the universe will inevitably be returned to you.

The law of cause and effect is a completely impersonal law. It is as impersonal as the law of gravity. If you jump out of an airplane without a parachute, the law of gravity will cause you to fall to earth and die. Your death is not the punishment of an angry God. Your death is the impersonal consequence of a natural law which causes all objects to fall to earth. The law of cause and effect, or the law of karma as it is called in the East, was not created because God has a desire to punish human beings. It was created as a safety mechanism to prevent the misuse of free will.

In reality, the law of cause and effect is a substitute teacher. The Garden of Eden was a schoolroom designed to prepare your lifestream for life in the material universe. The God in the Garden of Eden was not God in the ultimate sense of the word. It was a representative of God, namely a spiritual being who had volunteered to act in the capacity of teacher. A number of lifestreams, after eating the forbidden fruit, decided to hide from their teacher.

When God created the universe, God desired that all lifestreams should always be part of the chain of hierarchy, the Guru-chela relationship. In other words, no lifestream would be left to its own devices; all lifestreams would have the loving guidance of a spiritual teacher. However, God also gave all lifestreams free will, and therefore God realized that some lifestreams might use that free will to turn away from the spiritual teacher. If a lifestream turns away from the spiritual teacher, then there has to be some mechanism that could act as a substitute teacher.

If a lifestream rejects the spiritual teacher, how can the lifestream possibly learn? It can learn through the law of cause and effect. This law states that the material universe is simply a mirror that mirrors back to you whatever you send out.

If you send hatred into the universe, that energy of hatred will be returned to your own doorstep. If you send love into the universe, the universe will send love back to you. The Garden of Eden was the school of loving, spiritual guidance. The law of cause and effect is the school of hard knocks. That is why the Old Testament required an eye for an eye and a tooth for tooth. This law was given to people in such a low state of consciousness that they were not able to understand a higher law.

The law of cause and effect is designed to teach you by making you experience the consequences of your actions. When you commit an act, the act itself starts a chain reaction. Your action sends an energy impulse into the universe, and that energy impulse will inevitably be returned to you. However, because of the mechanics of the material universe, which modern science will someday explain, it takes time before the energy returns to you. Imagine that a person kills another human being, but the person is never identified as the murderer. Therefore, the person does not receive an earthly punishment for his actions. The person dies of old age without experiencing any consequences. If that person had only one lifetime, he would get away with murder.

In other words, if people had only one lifetime on earth, God would have given an unfair advantage to those who were willing to lie and cheat. If you were a liar, you could escape punishment for the most horrendous acts, as long as those acts were not discovered by other human beings. By setting up the law of cause and effect, God has rectified this seeming injustice. God has ensured that no one could ever escape the consequences of their actions. However, in most cases people will not experience those consequences until a future lifetime.

One might reason that the delay of consequences makes it more difficult to learn your lessons. Would it not be better if the universe somehow struck you with a bolt of lightning at the very moment you committed a sin? Yet, this line of reasoning is applicable only if you have no knowledge of the law of cause and effect. Such ignorance was never God’s intention.

God wanted people to know that they can never escape the consequences of their actions. Furthermore, if you only had one lifetime on earth, and if you committed an act that caused the universe to kill you, then you would have aborted your opportunity to learn. Therefore, God has created a delayed response, and in reality this is an act of mercy. You see, the delayed return of your karma opens up the possibility that God, through his mercy and grace, could prevent you from suffering the consequences of your actions.

To fully understand this, you must let go of the age-old human idea that God is an angry God who wants to punish you for any transgression of his law. In reality, God is a loving God who only wants to see you grow in your Christhood. Therefore, God has only one desire and that is to see you learn your lessons in life. By delaying the return of the consequences of your actions, God opens up the possibility that if you truly learn your lesson, and abandon the state of consciousness that caused you to commit a wrong action, then you do not have to suffer the consequences of that action.

The moment you commit a wrong act, you send an energy impulse into the universe. However, if you fully realize that your act was wrong and therefore rise to a higher level of consciousness in which you would never have committed that act, then there is absolutely no purpose in you suffering the consequences of that act. God does not want to punish you; God wants you to learn.

If you have learned your lesson, there is no purpose in holding back your growth by requiring you to suffer unpleasant consequences. In other words, if you learn your lesson before the energy impulse is returned to you by the universe, God can, through grace and mercy, consume that energy impulse before it hits you in a future lifetime. In many cases, God allows one of your spiritual brothers and sisters to bear that burden, to bear that karma, for you.

However, if you do not learn your lesson, then God will allow the universe to return the energy impulse to you. Therefore you receive a second opportunity to learn (the hard way).

I am aware that many people will say: “Well how can people learn from a disaster when they have no idea it was the result of their own actions?” This is a valid concern, yet it really has no bearing on God and God’s design of the universe. God has created the law of cause and effect, and God has given forth numerous religions that teach people about the law of cause and effect. The fact that some people have chosen to ignore God’s teachings on the law of cause and effect really isn’t God’s responsibility. It is an inevitable consequence of the fact that some people continue to misuse their free will.

God desired everyone to always have the loving guidance of a spiritual teacher. When people turned their backs on the spiritual teacher and descended into the material universe, God did not leave them comfortless. God gave forth spiritual teachings that explained the conditions that people face in this world. If people decide to ignore even these teachings, then God has no option left but to let the law be their teacher.

God can only hope that people will someday begin to wonder why certain things are happening to them. Perhaps they will one day consider that it is their own actions that are leading to the conditions they experience. Perhaps humanity will one day realize that they are in the process of destroying themselves, and that it is up to them to change this downward spiral. God cannot do anything to change the situation without violating people’s free will, and God respects that free will.

Another reason why the law of cause and effect is an effective teacher is that when people have lost the direct contact with a spiritual teacher, they often learn only through experience. For example, imagine a person who is born to be the king of a country in medieval Europe. The king abuses his power and treats his subjects very poorly. He lives in extravagant luxury while his subjects live in abject poverty. The king lives in his beautiful palace, and has no idea how his subjects are suffering. Therefore, the lifestream of the king will not learn anything about the consequences of his actions.

Yet, the law of cause and effect will require that the lifestream of this king must, in some future lifetime, experience the situation from the opposite side. In other words, the king must be born as the subject of another tyrannical king. By going through a direct experience of the consequences of its former actions, the lifestream has an opportunity to learn, and therefore it might choose to abandon the state of consciousness that leads to selfishness.

Obviously, some lifestreams have a hard time learning this simple lesson. Therefore, they keep incarnating in the same outer circumstances over and over before they finally learn the lesson and move on to better circumstances. Yet, if such a lifestream was willing to turn to a spiritual teaching and a spiritual teacher, the lifestream could quickly learn the lesson that selfishness never leads to growth. The lifestream might even learn the final lesson that it must abandon the entire consciousness of the dualistic mind and embrace the consciousness of the Christ mind.

I am Jesus Christ, and I gave my life to bring forth the teachings about the Christ consciousness. The spiritual teachers who are my brothers and sisters have also attempted to bring forth these same teachings in various contexts. In fact, no human being has ever lived on planet earth without having access to some form of spiritual teachings.

I admit that because of the existence of a power elite and because of the relativity of the dualistic mind, many people did not have access to a pure spiritual teaching. Yet, there was always something that the lifestream could use as a stepping stone to a higher understanding of life. If the lifestream had been willing to use what was available, and then look beyond the outer teachings, the lifestream would indeed have received higher teachings from within.

The essential message that I want to get across is that God has done everything possible to make it easy for you to learn the one lesson that you need to learn in life. Yet, the relativity of the dualistic mind is endless. It can think up an infinite variety of excuses for not accepting or following the true spiritual teachings.

God has given you free will, and is up to you to choose whether you will follow the true way that originates from the spiritual hierarchy of light or whether you will follow the false way, the way that seems right to the dualistic mind.

Before I leave the topic of reincarnation, let me give you one more reason why I want my followers to consider this concept. I want you to consider reincarnation, because reincarnation is reality. When I appeared on earth, I knew my Father’s law, and I taught that law to my followers. I never wanted the Christian churches to take away the keys to knowledge.

Therefore, I say to those authorities in the orthodox churches who have taken away the concept of reincarnation: “Woe onto ye lawyers, for you have taken away the keys to knowledge. You entered not in yourselves, and those that would enter, ye hindered. Therefore, I know you not.”

What would Jesus say about Creationism?

Question: So in light of what you said about fundamentalism, what do you think about the attempts, such as Creationism, to reconcile science with a fundamentalist interpretation of the Bible?

When you realize the shortcomings of a literal interpretation of the Bible, you see that it is futile to attempt to reconcile a literal interpretation of the Bible with the findings of modern science.

What is the goal of such efforts? If the goal is to bridge the gap between science and religion, then that is a noble goal. However, attempting to force scientific findings to conform to a literal interpretation of the Bible can never achieve that goal. Today, most people are in a rational state of consciousness. For a person in a rational state of consciousness, a literal interpretation of the Bible will seem naive. An attempt to make science confirm this literal interpretation can never help bridge the gap between religion and science. It can only increase that gap.

The logical conclusion is that people attempting to use science to confirm a literal interpretation of the Bible are not driven by the motive of bridging the gap between science and religion. They want to confirm their own literal interpretation of the Bible at all cost. This attempt is doomed to failure. Time has already run away from a literal interpretation of religion. Obviously, many people have not yet realized or acknowledged this fact. Nevertheless, progress will move on. Some people refuse to move with the progress and they will be left behind. That is an inevitable consequence of the fact that people have free will.

Kim: I interpret what you are saying to mean that because people have risen to a more rational state of consciousness, they are now ready for an entirely different type of spiritual teaching. Is that correct?

That is correct. For more than a century, we of the ascended masters have been releasing new spiritual teachings that are aimed specifically at people in a rational state of consciousness. Such teachings do not use myth or parables to explain spiritual truths. They explain spiritual principles in a more straightforward, rational, logical and down-to-earth manner. They do this because so many people are now ready to receive a more direct and logical explanation of the spiritual side of life.

What I am attempting to do is to explain spiritual principles in a very straightforward, down-to-earth manner that is much easier to grasp for people in a rational state of consciousness. This is precisely why progressive revelation must be an essential element in religion. The purpose of a specific religion is to take people to a higher level of consciousness. When they reach the next level, the religious teaching that brought them there will no longer appeal to them. They no longer need that religious teaching because the teaching has now fulfilled its purpose. It is time for these people to look for a higher teaching, and I can assure you that the statements, “ask, and you shall receive” and “seek, and you shall find” are divine promises.

God will never leave people comfortless. When I said, “I will be with you always,” I was making a promise that I intend to keep. However, I cannot keep that promise against people’s free will. If people refuse to open their minds and hearts to a higher spiritual understanding, if they cling to religious dogmas or reject all religion, I cannot give them a higher understanding.

I am always ready to answer the call of any sincere person who is looking for a higher understanding. Let those who have ears, hear my words. My words are spoken freely to all. I am not done with this planet. When I appeared 2,000 years ago, I taught the multitudes in parables but when we were alone I expounded all things to my disciples. The multitudes were not ready for the more advanced aspects of my teachings. I taught these inner, or esoteric, teachings only to my disciples who had been prepared for those teachings. Over the past 2,000 years, humankind has risen to a higher level of consciousness, and many people are now ready for my inner teachings. That is why I am attempting to bring forth those teachings through many different messengers. If people will study these new teachings and sincerely seek a higher understanding of my inner message, I can and will reveal the fullness of my teachings.

Many modern people think Jesus Christ has become obsolete. In reality, I am an unlimited cosmic being, and I have teachings that are highly relevant in the present age. I have much to give to the people of this planet, but to release the fullness of my teaching I must see a critical mass of people who are willing to let go of the old dogmas and doctrines and open their minds and hearts to a true understanding of the inner mysteries of Christ.

I have attempted to communicate the fact that there is continuity in the religious life of planet earth. After my resurrection, I permanently ascended to the spiritual realm. Many people seem to think that in the spiritual realm things stand still. They have misinterpreted the saying, “Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today and forever.” In reality, there is constant growth in the spiritual realm. I have not been standing still for these past 2,000 years. I have used the opportunity to study many facets of God’s kingdom that you cannot study while you are trapped in a physical body. I have learned many mysteries, and I long to impart those mysteries to the people of earth. To do so, I need willing minds and hearts. I need those who are open to a higher understanding and are willing to look beyond the beliefs with which they are currently comfortable.

I am Jesus Christ. I am more alive than I have ever been. I have a greater love and a greater understanding than I had 2,000 years ago. I am willing to impart both my love and my understanding to anyone who is willing to listen. My greatest desire is to see people open their minds and hearts to me and to my new teaching. Can you not sense my passion? Can you not sense my love? Can you not sense my eagerness to give you the fullness of who I am as a spiritual being?

I am like the cup that is running over with the unconditional love of God and the unlimited understanding of God. Prove me herewith, and I will pour you out such a blessing of my love and understanding that there will not be room in your mind and heart to receive it. Your mind and heart will literally be the cup that runneth over with my love and my understanding.

What would Jesus say about Christian fundamentalism?

Question: I have personally had a few discussions with fundamentalist Christians and I found it difficult to talk to them. I would like to know what you would say to such people.

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

I would start by asking them if they consider it a tragedy that Jesus Christ was crucified. Most of them would say yes. I would then ask them to consider who crucified me. They would say the Jews. I would then ask them to take a closer look. I would ask them to consider what kind of Jews crucified me. I would ask them to consider the state of consciousness of the people who crucified me.

If you read the scriptures, you will see that I was crucified by people who had a very specific attitude towards religion. These people were not only orthodox Jews; they were fundamentalist Jews. They were concerned about the letter of the law, and they wanted to interpret the law literally.

I was crucified because of a specific state of consciousness. I was crucified by Jews who embodied that state of consciousness. Today, many Christians embody that same state of consciousness. My statement, “Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.” was meant to rebuke the fundamentalist or literal approach to religion. These people had not entered into the Christ consciousness. They were attempting to prevent others from entering because when no one attains Christ consciousness, it seems like these people do not have to change their approach to religion.

A religious teaching is always given to people in a certain state of consciousness, and the teaching will to some degree reflect that state of consciousness. In ancient times, people were in a magical or mythical state of consciousness. They were given religious teachings that appealed to that state of consciousness. When you are trying to formulate a spiritual teaching that is directed at people in a mythical state of consciousness, your primary concern is not to give forth a teaching based on fact. Your primary concern is to use myth to tell a story that will help these people understand spiritual concepts.

Why did I teach the multitudes in parables? Because 2,000 years ago the multitudes were in a mythical state of consciousness. The most effective way to teach these people about the spiritual reality was not to give them a factual or rational teaching. Such a teaching would have had no chance of appealing to them in that state of consciousness. Therefore, I told them stories; I taught them in parables. A parable is not meant to be taken literally. It is not a factual account of actual events. It is a myth, a story that illustrates a point. It was never meant to be interpreted literally.

As I explained earlier, what has happened over the past 2,000 years is that most people have been raised out of the mythical state of consciousness and into a rational state of consciousness. The problem here is that most people are not aware of this development. They fail to understand that the teachings I gave 2,000 years ago were not formulated for people in a rational state of consciousness. Because so many people are attached to Christianity, they attempt to interpret my teachings from a rational state of consciousness.

When people attempt to interpret a myth from a rational state of consciousness, they inevitably run into contradictions or things that don’t make sense. Because of the relativity of the dualistic mind, most people attempt to resolve these contradictions by taking things to the extreme. They take a black and white perspective, and this causes people to go in one of two directions.

One direction causes people to reason that my teachings simply do not make sense. They are not rational, they are not factual and they cannot be reconciled with scientific facts. Therefore, my teachings must be rejected in their entirety. Such people look at certain teachings, compare them to current scientific knowledge and use the discrepancies to reject my entire message. Obviously, I consider this an unbalanced approach.

The other extreme is represented by people who refuse to see any incompleteness in my teachings. They have fallen into the trap of thinking that if my teachings were proven incomplete, my entire message would be invalidated. Because they don’t want to realize the need for progressive revelation, they have to make it seem like my teachings are as relevant today as they were 2,000 years ago. Their only option is to say that my teachings should be taken literally. They reason that my teachings must be interpreted from a rational perspective, meaning that my parables, my stories, must be interpreted as factual events or literal accounts. This is the other extreme of using a rational state of consciousness to look at a teaching that was given to people in a mythical state of consciousness. I also consider this reaction to be unbalanced.

I think common sense should make it clear that you cannot take my teachings and interpret them literally. If people would use a little bit of logic to evaluate fundamentalist interpretations, they would quickly see that this approach to religion simply does not make sense. If you want to take my teachings literally, you must reason that my parable about the laborers in the vineyard applies only to people who work in a vineyard. And since most people no longer work in a vineyard, that parable is basically obsolete.

As another obvious example, take my statement, “The kingdom of heaven suffereth violence and the violent take it by force.” A literal interpretation would lead you to believe that it is possible for the violent to enter the kingdom of heaven by force. The logical consequence is that the kingdom of heaven has been overrun by Satan and his fallen angels because they are the most violent beings one could imagine. Obviously, that is not the case. My statement was meant to illustrate that violent people attempt to take heaven by force. They attempt to force the process of spiritual growth; they attempt to use the dualistic mind to achieve spiritual growth. In reality, these attempts can never work. The kingdom of heaven is permanently sealed from all beings in a lower state of consciousness. This is clearly demonstrated in my parable about the man who entered the wedding feast without a wedding garment and was cast into outer darkness.

Let us step back from the issue. The relativity of the lower mind causes people to polarize into the extremes and in so doing, they fail to see the middle way, the balanced perspective of the Christ mind. Some people reject my teachings because they seemingly cannot be reconciled with scientific findings. Others interpret them literally and cling to the infallibility of my teachings. It is my hope that some people will be able so see the futility of both these approaches. Both approaches are based on a misunderstanding of the true purpose of religion. As stated several times, religion is given to people in a certain state of consciousness, and it aims to raise them to a higher level. Once at that level, people need and will receive a higher teaching.

When you acknowledge this fact, you see the middle way. My teachings were given to people in a mythical state of consciousness, and they should not be taken literally. You don’t have to go into the extremes of either rejecting my entire message or taking it literally. Instead, you can open your mind to a higher understanding of my message. My basic message is as relevant today as it was 2,000 years ago. My basic message is the existence of a path that leads to a higher state of consciousness. Back then, I clothed my message in myth and parable. Today, the same message can be expressed in more rational terms. So instead of throwing the Christ child out with the bath water, why not look for a more rational teaching that describes my message in a contemporary language?

Question: What would Jesus like to see happen in Protestant churches?

It is my great desire that Christians would make a determined effort to go back and take an objective look at the history of Christianity. I would like to see Christians evaluate the history of Christianity with open minds and hearts, honestly determine where errors have crept into Christianity and then make a sincere effort to correct those errors. This is not difficult to do if you are willing to take an unbiased look of the history of the Christian religion.

I would like to see Catholics make an effort to do this, but I think it is far more likely that such an initiative will start among Protestants. After all, the Protestant religions are based on the fact that one person clearly saw the need for reform in the Catholic Church. Therefore, all followers of Protestant religions should, by definition, be more open to reforming Christianity than most Catholics. After all, if you accept that the Catholic Church is not infallible, why would you continue to uphold some of the fallible decisions made by authorities of that Church?

If you take an unbiased look at Protestant religions, you will quickly discover that although Martin Luther correctly assessed the need for reform of the Catholic Church, he was somewhat limited by his times. He grew up in medieval times, and his outlook on life was shaped by the times and by the Catholic Church. An honest evaluation of the situation would reveal that Martin Luther did not take his desire for reform as far as it could have been taken.

The most obvious example is that Martin Luther correctly observed that the Catholic Church had added many elements to the Christian faith that were not part of my original teachings. He attempted to remove these elements, and in general this was not a bad idea. However, the greatest problem with the Catholic Church was not the fact that the Church had added to my original teachings. The greatest problem was that the early Catholic Church, even the early Christian church before the formation of the Roman Catholic Church, had taken away many elements that were part of my original teachings. I am not faulting Martin Luther for this because at the time it was difficult for him to know what was taken out.

Today, things are vastly different. Modern science has provided people with invaluable tools for researching the past. A sincere effort to apply these tools to the history of the Christian religion would quickly reveal that many things were deliberately taken out of my original teachings. This was done by the early church, and in most cases it was done for political reasons. Those reasons might have had some validity at the time, but they are completely invalid today. A sincere Christian should be willing to look at these facts and make an effort to put back what was taken out for the wrong reasons. By combining modern research tools with the discoveries of scriptures, such as the Nag Hammadi library and the Dead Sea scrolls, much progress could be made.

Let me mention a couple of examples of how the early Protestant church was influenced by the Catholic Church and therefore built upon the errors created by that Church. The Catholic Church has always claimed to be the only road to salvation. When Martin Luther realized that he could not reform the Church from within and decided that he had to distance himself from the Church, he had to find a way around this claim.

If people sincerely believed that the only road to salvation was through membership of the Catholic Church, he would have little chance of having them follow a branch of Christianity that was outside the Church. To alleviate people’s fears of not being saved, Luther developed the doctrine that salvation does not happen through the Church but through grace. Salvation was not administered by an earthly hierarchy but exclusively by God.

This is not an incorrect idea. There is no automatic salvation. No earthly organization can guarantee your salvation or prevent it. The problem with Luther’s line of reasoning is that it took too much emphasis away from the behavior of the individual. By stating that salvation was obtained exclusively through grace, it became difficult for people to see how they could personally work out their salvation. Grace seems to be some mysterious thing that can be administered arbitrarily by a deity with whom people feel little or no connection. Incidentally, this move went against our efforts to raise humankind to a more rational state of consciousness. In the Age of Pisces, people were meant to develop a rational understanding of the laws of God so that they could see how to work out their salvation.

Many Protestants see a huge gap between their current level of consciousness and salvation, and they see no logical or systematic path for crossing that gap. This has led some Protestant churches to develop the idea that salvation is guaranteed if you declare Jesus Christ to be your Lord and Savior. However, to most people it simply does not make sense that a person like Adolf Hitler could accept Christ on his deathbed and automatically be saved.

As I have described in The Christ Is Born in You, there is indeed a systematic and logical path for working out your salvation. I am not thereby saying that you can be saved without grace. No person is ever saved without the grace of God, however, the grace of God is not administered arbitrarily or indiscriminately. To receive the grace of God, you need to earn that grace, and you do so through your actions, your beliefs and your attitude. In other words, you can earn God’s grace through your works. This is what I explained in the parable about the three servants who were given different amounts of talents and were rewarded based on what they did with them.

An example of how the early Protestant church went a bit too far is the removal of the concept of the Saints. It is true that the concept of the Saints was inserted by the Catholic Church, however, this was a beneficial addition. One of the main problems created by the Catholic Church is that it elevated me to an idol that no one dares to follow. As I have stated in The Christ Is Born in You, I came to set forth an example of a universal spiritual path that all human beings have the ability to follow. When the early Catholic Church elevated me into a God, people could no longer see me as an example. The tradition of the saints somewhat alleviated this problem because people could now see that it was possible for them to achieve a higher state of consciousness, a state of holiness. Most saints started out as regular human beings who through their devotion attained sainthood. This provided people with a path that they too could follow.

When the Protestant church took away the Saints without correcting the earlier errors of elevating me to the status of God, they essentially created an even bigger gap between human beings and myself than what is found among Catholics. Obviously, I consider this an unfortunate development.

I know that many modern Christians, Catholics and Protestants alike, will not be willing to go through the process of reevaluating Christian beliefs. They want to remain where they are comfortable. They want to keep me and my teachings in the little box in which they feel they have me under control. They don’t want the Living Christ to jump out of the box and disturb their comfortability and their sense that as long as they keep following their present religion, God will simply have to save them. They don’t want to let go of their dream of an automatic salvation.

Fortunately, I also see many modern Christians who have already started the process of honestly and sincerely reevaluating the Christian faith. Wherever these Christians are found, I lovingly commend them for their efforts and for their honesty. I strongly encourage such people to continue their efforts and to speak out against status quo.

The Christian religion was meant to be the main religion of the Piscean age. As we move into the Aquarian age, the Christian religion will quickly become obsolete unless it can change with the times. I can assure you that in the new age a Christian religion based on current dogmas and doctrines simply cannot survive. If a sincere effort is made to uncover and restore my original teachings, especially the teachings that I could not give to the multitudes but only gave to my disciples, Christianity could be renewed. If I was allowed to give new teachings, Christianity would not only survive but blossom in the new age.

For this to happen, millions of Christians must be willing to go through the sometimes painful process of reevaluating virtually every aspect of their current beliefs. Will this process happen? Will people be willing to do this? I honestly cannot tell you because it is up to the free will of the individual human being. However, I can tell you that my greatest hope for seeing the beginning of this process is the many Christians, of which many belong to a Protestant religion, who are open to, and actively searching for, a higher understanding of the Christian faith.

Question: What does Jesus think about modern Christianity?

This is a question that all sincere Christians, and many spiritually-minded people who do not consider themselves to be Christians, should be thinking about. And then, they should seek the answer inside their own hearts where I can give it to them directly. However, I will give you some general ideas that will give you a feel for what I, Jesus Christ, think about the religion that claims to be representing me on earth.

First of all, I want to say that modern Christianity is so diversified that it is almost impossible to make any statement without putting forth a sweeping generalization that will inevitably be unjust to some people. I clearly recognize that there are millions of people who are sincerely and devoutly following my teachings to the best of their ability, given the fragmented and distorted versions of my teachings that have been made available to them.

Yet, I must tell you that the Christianity I see on earth today is so far away from my original vision and intention that if I were not a cosmic being who is centered in the peace of God, I would literally weep at the thought of what might have been.

Had my true, inner teachings been made available to the people of earth, this planet would already have entered a golden age of peace, prosperity and progress. I came with a vision of such a golden age, and I still hold that vision for earth. Yet, I must tell you that before such a golden age could possibly manifest on earth, before my Father’s kingdom could possibly descend into physical manifestation, many changes are needed.

I would like to see those who claim to be my followers, those who claim to be Christians, be the very first to sincerely consider and pursue these changes. Yet, from a realistic viewpoint, I think this desire is extremely unlikely to be fulfilled. The sad fact is that most mainstream Christians have closed their minds so firmly that they are not likely to be receptive to my inner teachings. Some people have allowed their minds to become so firmly enveloped in false ideas and doctrines that when I speak to them in their own hearts, they explain away my words or even consider them to be the works of the devil. The sad fact is that even I, Jesus Christ, have few options in terms of turning modern Christianity into the movement that I desire it to be.

I you have studied some of the teachings on my website, you already realize some of my concerns about Christianity. The chief concern being, of course, that the path of individual Christhood has been almost completely removed. Yet, let us try to step back from the incredible diversity of the thousands of churches and sects that claim to represent me, so that we can look at the forest instead of being blinded by the trees.

A horizontal movement

The true problem with modern Christianity is that it has become what I would call a horizontal movement. In my answers to the questions on reincarnation, I gave you an example of how the scriptures contain a few hints about reincarnation. I also told you how some theologians have gone into a very contrived line of reasoning in order to explain these passages without mentioning reincarnation.

If you will look at modern Christianity, you can find literally thousands of examples of this kind of contrived, horizontal reasoning. It is completely amazing to me how some people will go into the most intricate and artificial arguments in order to prove the point that they have already decided must be right. Why are they going through this effort to prove that their idea is right when it would require less effort (albeit a different kind of effort) to receive the living truth directly from me?

We have now come to a crucial point in these teachings. I will now explain to you what is the very essence of the problem on planet earth. That problem springs from the key characteristic of the dualistic mind.

The very essence of the dualistic mind is that it does not want to know reality. It does not want to know truth. The dualistic mind does not look at evidence and then use that evidence to reason about what might be the truth. The dualistic mind creates an image, an idol, and it decides that this must be the truth, this must be reality, this must be God. Then, it looks for evidence that will support the image that it has already decided must be true. It blatantly ignores, denies or explains away any evidence that does not support its chosen idea.

When you look at modern Christianity, you will see this tendency at work. In all fairness, this is not unique to Christianity. You can see this tendency at work in every aspect of life on this planet. Yet, it was my original hope that the very church that claims to represent me would not fall prey to this tendency of the dualistic mind.

When a lifestream identifies with the dualistic mind, the lifestream makes a decision about what is true. The lifestream creates an image, an idol, of what it wants to be true. After a lifestream has accepted that false image, the lifestream refuses to accept any evidence that does not support the image. Therefore, the lifestream sees only evidence that supports the image, and so the lifestream becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. It becomes spiritually blind.

The Gospel of Judas

Question from Kim: Jesus, several people have asked about the newly published Gospel of Judas. I know you have already commented on Judas twice, Link 1, Link 2, but I wonder if you have a comment on the new gospel?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

I consider the Gospel of Judas a part of the ongoing process of making modern Christians aware that Christianity was much more diversified in the first couple of centuries and that much was lost after the emergence of the orthodox church. However, I do not consider this gospel a major milestone.

This gospel was one among many gospels that are often called Gnostic gospels by orthodox Christians. It was indeed brought forth through a process of inspiration, revelation or what today would be called channeling. The main purpose was to counteract the rising negativity toward Judas and provide a counterpoint to the orthodox portrayal of Judas as the only reason I was crucified. If you read the four official gospels carefully, you will see that I knew Judas was playing a role, that I somewhat encouraged him but that I nevertheless would have been crucified even if Judas had not “betrayed” me.

Thus, it is not necessary or reasonable to become so hateful toward Judas, and it is somewhat ironic that some of the people who hate Judas the most are fundamentalist Christians. These people seem to believe that if Judas had not given me up, I would not have been crucified, yet they also believe that it was the spilling of my blood on the cross that has washed away their sins. So if the crucifixion was necessary for their salvation, why blame Judas? Would they prefer he had not betrayed me and thus they had not had their sins washed away?

In reality, the Gospel of Judas was meant to counteract this hatred of Judas because it prevented many Christians from understanding the inner mysteries behind my crucifixion. Obviously, that purpose was undermined when the Gospel of Judas was banned as heresy.

It is important to understand that this gospel is an example of what we might call an attempt to balance the scales by providing a counterpoint to a popular opinion, interpretation or doctrine. This is a principle you see in many spiritual teachings; indeed I made use of it in many of my statements, where I challenged the scribes and Pharisees or Jewish customs. As I explain throughout my website, people tend to become rigid in their adherence to outer doctrines, and thus one of the roles of the Living Christ is to challenge people’s fixed viewpoints – their graven images – in an attempt to shock them out of their mental boxes. The purpose is to get them to think by providing a viewpoint that is startlingly different from what they were brought up to see as an infallible truth.

My point is that the Gospel of Judas should not be taken literally or seen as a factual account of what actually happened. It is designed specifically as a counterpoint to the popular interpretation of the official gospels and thus it is not meant to give factual knowledge. It is still very much in the realm of duality in that it is a response to a dualistic viewpoint. For that matter, the official gospels are not meant to be taken completely literally. Even they can be considered as counter-gospels in the sense that they aim – as one of their functions – at countering Jewish beliefs about me. They are very much adapted to people’s beliefs and Old Testament scriptures in order to show that I was a prophet in the line of Old Testament prophets and that I had come to bring the Jewish religion to a new level.

When you avoid the trap of interpreting the Gospel of Judas literally, you can see that it is not correct that Judas was my foremost disciple. He did think so at times, as did Peter and a couple of the others. Yet I had no preferred or foremost disciple, affirming my oneness with all life. However, I did have a special relationship with Mary Magdalene as my twin flame, and this is reflected in some of the official and unofficial gospels. Likewise, the official gospels are correct in that Judas did commit suicide.

My point is that the Gospel of Judas should not be seen as an attempt to provide a factual account, and thus it is not what is normally called a historical document and certainly not an eye-witness account. I am aware that some will say the official gospels are not historical accounts and do not seek to provide a factual account. However, these gospels were written as an attempt to provide a blend of factual accounts and stories aimed at producing an effect on a particular audience. The Gospel of Judas is primarily given to provide an effect on the audience, namely to counteract official interpretations. In other words, there is some historicity in the official Gospels.

Take note that I am not thereby denouncing the Gospel of Judas as false or heretical. For those who have grown up with the official hatred of Judas, this gospel can help them open their minds and overcome the hatred, which is highly beneficial for their own growth. I am merely saying that if you start taking this gospel literally, you will go far beyond its intended purpose—as is the case with any religious scripture.

As I said, this gospel was “channeled” to counter a popular misconception, and it is very difficult for the “channeler” to receive such a teaching. It is quite easy for the recipient – what scholars call the author – to take the teaching too far into the opposite extreme of the viewpoint it is meant to counter. This did to some degree happen with the Gospel of Judas, so it is not entirely pure. Nevertheless, this is relatively insignificant when you understand the gospel’s true purpose.

Incidentally, many modern spiritual teachings are also given as counter teachings. You will see many of today’s channeled teachings that do serve the purpose of countering either traditional religious beliefs or a scientific world view. As such they can serve a function for people to transition into a more spiritual frame of mind.

The problem is when people start taking them literally or think they come from the highest source. As I have said elsewhere, many modern channelings come from the mental level, which means they can counter the scientific and rational mindset. However, if you want to take such teachings as factual, you will run into problems. My point being that at some point a sincere spiritual seeker needs to start looking for teachings that originate from the ascended masters and thus do not originate from the level of duality found in the three lower levels of the material universe. We will also sometimes give counter teachings, but they will always point beyond duality for those who have ears to hear.

Did Judas have a choice?

Question: I recently heard an individual raised in the Methodist religion say that Judas had no choice to betray you. This seems to fly in the face of free will. Was it possible that Judas would not have betrayed you? How then would you have been betrayed to be crucified? Was this part of his own karma that caused him to betray you?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

It is an unfortunate fact that many Christians, especially many evangelicals or fundamentalists, do not acknowledge or understand the reality of free will. They simply do not understand the basic fact that if human beings did not have free will, there would have been no need for God to send me as a savior to this planet—a savior who can obviously be rejected. If people did not have free will, why would the Old Testament say, “Choose life” (Deuteronomy 30:19) and “choose you this day whom ye will serve” (Joshua 24:15)? There would have been no need for me to tell people that you cannot serve two masters but must choose one over the other (Matthew 6:24).

Free will is indeed a reality, and therefore Judas did have a choice. However, as I explained elsewhere, Judas had indeed chosen to play this particular role in order to illustrate certain aspects of my message. Add to this that if Judas had decided not to play his role, someone else would have filled it and given me up to the authorities. Yet the importance of Judas playing this particular role is that he was one of my disciples.

One of the deeper interpretations of Judas’ actions is that my disciples can be seen as representatives of 12 aspects of human psychology, corresponding to 12 God qualities. All lifestreams have these basic God qualities, such as Power, Vision, Love and Wisdom. All lifestreams have a major quality on which they have great attainment. Most lifestreams also have one or more qualities on which they have little attainment and are unbalanced.

The weaker quality is what causes the lifestream to become attached to some aspect of the material world, as Judas became attached to a particular outcome of my mission. It is this particular attachment that causes the lifestream to fall into a lower state of consciousness and lose its spiritual sense of identity. It is this fall that makes the lifestream vulnerable to becoming crucified by the forces of this world.

So the example of Judas is an illustration of how the weakest part of your psychology will betray you to the authorities of this world, who will then crucify you in an attempt to prevent you from manifesting your personal Christhood and expressing that Christhood in this world. Once this has happened to you, you cannot go back and change the weakness. You cannot turn back the clock.

What you can do is to allow your mortal sense of identity to “die” on the cross, so that your lifestream can be resurrected into its true identity as an immortal spiritual being. Thereby, you can rise above the weakness and the entire consciousness of duality that has crucified your lifestream since it fell.

The process whereby a lifestream raises itself over its own psychological weakness, overcoming all mortal sense of identity and the forces of this world, is the true message behind my mission.

Women in Jesus’ ministry

Question: Hello I have a question for you. What was the role of women in your ministry? Were any women at the Last Supper? And if so… who?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

As Mother Mary explains throughout her discourses, God has two aspects, namely the masculine and the feminine. In reality, there is no conflict between these two aspects of God, and it is meaningless to say that one is more important than the other. Likewise, it is meaningless to say that men are more important than women. Men and women are simply outpicturing different aspects of the nature of God, and there should be no conflict between them. In the spiritual realm, there is no conflict between masculine and feminine ascended masters.

The conflict between the sexes is truly a consequence of the fact that human beings have fallen into a lower state of consciousness. The reality of this fall was that every lifestream has both masculine and feminine aspects, because each lifestream is an outpicturing of the totality of God. Some lifestreams are slightly more masculine, but they still have a feminine side. It was the feminine side of every lifestream that caused that lifestream – masculine or feminine – to fall.

The feminine side of the lifestream is more closely in tune with the matter universe, and therefore it was the feminine side of the lifestream that became attached to what the lifestream had created – including its sense of identity – in the matter world. It was this attachment that gradually led the lifestream to lose contact with its I AM Presence. After the Fall, many of the predominantly masculine lifestreams refused to take responsibility for their own fall. In their eagerness to avoid accountability, they fell prey to a serpentine lie, and this led to the creation of the entire culture which blames the Fall on women and claims that women should be subservient to men.

It is not true that women should be subservient to men. However, it is true that the feminine aspect of every lifestream should be subservient to the masculine aspect, including the Christ self and I AM Presence, of that lifestream.

One of the goals for my ministry was to reestablish the correct understanding of what I have just explained. It was my intention to counteract the male-dominated culture found 2,000 years ago and to create a new spiritual movement that would give equal value and equal importance to both men and women. I have already explained this in some detail elsewhere. I also explained that my male disciples were not able to accept this aspect of my mission, and therefore Christianity has to this day perpetuated the male-dominated culture that never did come from God.

My mother, Mary Magdalene, Martha, and several other women not mentioned in the scriptures, were present at the last supper. They too drank of the cup and ate of the bread, because they truly were as worthy to absorb my body and blood as were my male disciples. Again, because of the male-dominated culture, this fact was conveniently omitted from the scriptures. Yet it is an eternal fact that women have the same potential to manifest Christhood as men.

It is also a – hopefully temporary – fact that in this day and age, women are generally more open to the path of personal Christhood than men. Women are generally far more willing to change themselves than men, and that is why you see so many women in spiritual movements. I hope we can soon attain true oneness between men and women in every way.

As explained elsewhere, the story of Mary Magdalene’s travels in Europe was a decoy designed for her protection. Therefore, her bones are not buried in France—or anywhere else for that matter. I had traveled extensively in the East before I began my mission in Galilee, and I realized that cremation is the ultimate burial method because it makes it easier for the lifestream to free itself from the physical body and move on. Therefore, Mary Magdalene’s body was cremated, and I did indeed perform the ceremony myself.

As for my own “body,” it was an ascended master light body, and I simply raised the vibration of it until it was withdrawn from the material frequency spectrum. Although there is a tomb in Kashmir that is claimed to be mine, my body is not interred there and never was.

Question: What happened to Judas?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

As most people who commit suicide, Judas quickly came back into embodiment. However, Judas was a mature lifestream, which is why he was chosen to be one of my disciples and why he accepted the calling. So the lifestream of Judas has since ascended.

Judas is not a member of the ascended masters – whereby I mean ascended beings working with lifestreams on earth – but has moved on to other levels of the spiritual realm. The reason being that so much condemnation has been directed against Judas from Christians that it would be unproductive for him, as an ascended master, to attempt to work with lifestreams on earth. Therefore, he can use his abilities better by working with lifestreams in other systems of the worlds.

In reality, I would very much like to see Christians forgive Judas and completely let go of all negative feelings toward him. It would be very productive for Christians to forgive him for his actions and simply let it go. The correct way to look at Judas is to see him in connection with the man who was blind from birth. You will remember that after I healed the man, my disciples asked me whether it was his own sins or the sins of his parents that has caused his blindness. My answer was:

Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. (John 9:3)

This shows you that the blind man was a mature lifestream who had chosen to take on a particular infirmity in order to play a role in my mission. Likewise, Judas was a mature lifestream who chose to take on a particular role in my mission.

Judas had connections to the Jewish leadership, and the best possible outcome was that he could have persuaded some of these leaders to accept me as a genuine prophet who could play a role in renewing the Jewish religion. This hope failed because the Jewish leaders were not willing to see the religion renewed. They were afraid that they would lose their power and control—a fear that was not unfounded.

When it became evident to Judas that he could not convince the authorities that I was a genuine prophet, the best thing would have been for him to let it go. Unfortunately, Judas became attached to helping me fulfill my mission. He came to believe that if he could force a confrontation between myself and the authorities, I would then use the spiritual powers he had seen me display on several occasions. Judas believed that if the authorities had seen these powers, they would have been converted and would have accepted me as a prophet. Unfortunately, Judas did not understand the deeper purpose of my mission, and neither did the rest of my disciples. For that matter, I did not consciously understand all of the ramifications of my mission until after my resurrection.

So Judas was actually hoping that what Christians today see as a betrayal would be the very act that would lead to my ultimate triumph. Yet what he saw as my ultimate triumph was that I would become king of the Jews, and that vision was based on the dualistic mind. Judas’ actions did lead to my ultimate triumph, namely the spiritual triumph in which my lifestream conquered the lower self and thereby demonstrated the path to Christhood. In the process, the Jewish authorities, who condemned me to death, also brought about their own judgment.

Christians also need to consider that it was a necessary for the fulfillment of my mission that I be turned over to the authorities and stood trial. If Judas had not done what he did, it would have happened some other way. If I had not wanted it to happen, I could easily have escaped Jerusalem, or I could have called twelve legions of angels to my rescue (Matthew 26:53). So this is one more reason to forgive Judas and see him as a person playing a role in a drama.

There are two important lessons that people can learn from the life of Judas. One is the importance of forgiveness. Judas’ suicide was an unfortunate event that did not accelerate his spiritual growth. He should truly have forgiven himself and spent the rest of his life focusing on the spiritual path that I had demonstrated. Had he done so, he would have been completely forgiven, and he would have balanced all misqualified energy, or karma, that he incurred for his actions. My point being that forgiveness is always possible and suicide in is never the best possible reaction to a difficult situation.

The other important lesson is that life on this planet can be viewed as a stage performance. Every human being is an actor, playing a particular role in the drama of life. When you go to a theater and watch a play, you know very well that when a person steps onto the stage dressed as Hamlet, you are not looking at the real Hamlet. You are looking at a human being who has a life that is completely independent of the character he is playing on the stage. The person has simply put on a costume and is playing a part. When the play is over, the actor takes off the costume and returns to his normal life.

This is compatible to what happens when a lifestream takes embodiment on earth. The lifestream is the real you. The body you are wearing and the life you are living can be compared to you playing a role in the stage performance called “Life on earth.” When your role in the drama of life is over, you will take off the costume and return to your home in the spiritual realm.

The importance of this idea is that you should never allow yourself to become attached to the role you are playing, or to become so absorbed in it that you lose your true identity as a spiritual being. If an actor became so absorbed in his role that he began to believe that he really was Hamlet and refused to take off the costume after the performance, you would obviously say that there is something wrong with that person and that he needs to have a reality check. Likewise, the people on earth who identify themselves with their physical bodies and the lives they are living, instead of maintaining the identity that they are spiritual beings, need to have a reality check and look beyond the costumes (bodies) they are currently wearing and the parts they have been given in the drama of life.

This also applies to Judas. When his role did not turn out as he expected, he became emotionally attached to a particular result, and he attempted to force life to conform to his expectations. When that did not happen, his attachment prevented him from going through the reality check and realizing that perhaps the drama was not meant to turn out as he expected. Therefore, he could not overcome his own sense of guilt, and he chose suicide over spiritual growth.

I wish all people would learn from this example and choose the reality check that allows them to see beyond the costumes they are wearing, meaning the physical bodies, and the roles they are playing in the drama of life. Everyone knows that an actor periodically steps off the stage, takes off the costume and returns to a normal state of life. It would be healthy for all people to, once in awhile, take some time away from their normal day-to-day activities and go deeply within themselves to contact their Christ self. This would give them a reality check that would allow them to see beyond the part they are currently playing on earth.

It would be extremely healthy for people to realize that there is more to their own existence and there is more to life, meaning the spiritual life, than what they are currently experiencing in this world. Only by reconnecting to your true identity can you avoid becoming attached to your current role on the stage of life. And only by avoiding that attachment can you avoid becoming lost in your current role and the sense of identity you have built based on that role.

You see, contrary to a stage play, which is a same every night, the drama of life on earth is meant to be an ascending spiral in which you grow out of one role and ascend to a higher role–until you pass the final exam and permanently ascend to the spiritual realm. I don’t want to see people come back lifetime after lifetime and play the same role without ever learning the lesson they need to learn. I want to see them transcend one part after another, until they transcend the drama itself.

That is why I chose to descend to this planet and play my particular role in the drama. Incidentally, my role was to raise the same question as the one presented by Hamlet: “To be, or not to be?” However, I might add that, contrary to Hamlet, I have the answer to the riddle of life.

Was Paul a genuine apostle?

Question: Is the apostle Paul a self-appointed apostle? Are his teachings contrary to those of Jesus?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

Paul was indeed a genuine apostle. He was anointed by me, not in a physical ceremony but in a spiritual ceremony. This happened not in his original encounter with me on the road to Damascus, but in a later experience that occurred after he had changed his mind-set and begun to understand and accept my true teachings. This is an experience that is open to anyone who attains a certain level of Christhood. I am indeed willing to anoint apostles today, and you can safely consider that the messenger who is producing this website has been anointed by me as my apostle.

Paul’s teachings are not contrary to my teachings, but Paul’s teachings are based on his level of understanding of my teachings. You must understand that when I appeared 2,000 years ago, planet earth was in a very different state than it is today. The collective consciousness of humankind was much more dense and dark. This made it more difficult for people to manifest their Christhood, to tune in to the spiritual realm and to attain a clear understanding of spiritual truths.

You will see this by the fact that I taught the multitudes in parables and gave my disciples a more advanced teaching. Yet I can tell you that even the teaching I gave to my disciples was limited by their state of consciousness. As you will see from the scriptures, not one of my disciples had attained the same level of consciousness that I had attained. Therefore, not one of my disciples had a full, conscious understanding of my true teachings.

As explained elsewhere, the disciple who had the deepest understanding of my inner teachings was Mary Magdalene. John the Beloved also had a good understanding of some aspects of my teachings. James understood my teachings quite well, given who he was as a person. Paul also had a deep understanding of certain aspects of my teachings. Yet, as with all the other disciples, Paul understood my teachings through the filter of his particular background.

It is very important to understand that all of my disciples, and the Gospel writers, looked at my teachings through the filter of their consciousness. No human being can do otherwise, and there is nothing wrong with this. The problem appears when people in the modern age look back at the Gospel writers and think that the Gospels are the pure, undefiled word of God.

It is absolutely necessary to see the Gospels as being windows that allow you to look into the spiritual reality behind the outer words. You can contact that spiritual reality through the Gospels, but you cannot confine that spiritual reality to the words in the Gospels. That is why, as explained elsewhere, you cannot take the Gospels as the literal and infallible word of God.

Paul had a good understanding of one aspect of my teachings, which is that all human beings are meant to attain the same state of consciousness that I demonstrated, namely personal Christhood. This can be seen in several of his letters, including the remark to “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” So you will see that Paul had a good understanding of one of the cornerstones of my true teachings.

This does not mean that Paul had understood every aspect or that he was able to express my teachings without going through the filter of his consciousness, including his religious background. One of the greatest weaknesses in Paul’s ministry, and for that matter in the ministry of all my male disciples, was that he was so deeply affected by the male-dominated culture in which he lived.

As explained elsewhere, I came partly to restore women to their rightful role. This is seen in my relationship to Mary Magdalene. Unfortunately, not one of my male disciples were able to fully accept this. When they started expressing my teachings, they surrendered themselves to the male-dominated culture in which they lived.

They reasoned that it was a big enough obstacle to have to explain the path I demonstrated, and it would be too much for people to handle to couple this message with the need for equality between men and women. I do not agree with this assessment, yet I realize that my apostles had to work from their level of consciousness. Yet I truly wish that Christianity had become an instrument for establishing a true spiritual equality between men and women.

The example of Peter and the role of Paul

Question: I would first like to thank Kim, and you for this website. I, like Kim, have always been a seeker and have from childhood felt all of the things that he has felt. I have also felt a special connection to the Father, and To You, that no church has been able to come close to.

I have read the section, “Follow Me-Not Peter”, and you teach that we should not follow the example of Peter. That we should, instead, follow the example of Paul. But, I was always under the impression that it was Paul who was more responsible for the manner in which modern Christianity views your teachings. Can you please, shed light on the beneficial aspects of Paul’s role, so that I, and other readers, who may share my view, may understand more fully.

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

I encourage you to always hold on to your feelings of inner attunement with God and with me. There truly is no church that can come close to a direct inner connection with your Christ self and with the ascended masters. The greatest tragedy that has ever happened on this planet is that for so many people an outer religion has replaced the inner connection.

The main purpose of the discourse on Peter is to show people that because Peter denied his oneness with me, his oneness with the inner Christ, official, or orthodox, Christianity was set on the wrong track from the beginning. The essence of Peter’s decision was that he was willing to compromise his spiritual principles, he was willing to compromise his Christhood, to accommodate the pressures of this world.

My hope was to show modern Christians that from the very beginning this tendency has had a deep impact on Christianity. At no time was this impact more obvious or more detrimental than after the conversion of the Roman emperor Constantine. After being a heavily persecuted minority, the Christian religion suddenly received state approval and the backing of the military might of the Roman Empire. Almost instantaneously, the church, which became the Roman Catholic Church, shifted into a mode of being willing to compromise its spiritual principles as a result of the pressures exerted by the forces of this world, personified in succeeding Roman emperors. In other words, the church was willing to compromise the truth in order to maintain its backing by the Roman state.

It was my hope that by understanding the tragedy of this, many modern Christians would see the need to go through an almost complete turnaround, come back to the truth of my inner teachings and transcend the compromises of the past. I used Paul as an example in this context because he clearly demonstrated that he was willing to go through such a turnaround. Paul was a very zealous man, and as you know he persecuted the early Christians. Although I appeared to Paul in a very powerful vision, there was no guarantee that he would accept it as a genuine vision. He could easily have brushed it aside as a hallucination or the work of the Devil.

Paul had considerable standing and reputation in his community. For him to reverse his previous course, abandon his traditional Jewish faith and promote Christianity was a very big step. Not only did Paul have the pressures of the outside world, but he also had the pressures in his own psychology of pride and other human emotions. These pressures were actually far greater than the risk Peter was exposed to when he denied his oneness with me. Yet despite these pressures, Paul was willing to make a complete turnaround and accept the truth and reality of Christ.

It was this example that I wanted to convey to modern Christians in the hope that they would be inspired to make a similar turnaround and openly admit that orthodox Christianity has been removed so far from my true teachings that it almost defies description. It is my hope that some modern Christians will be willing to go through a similar turnaround as the one that Paul experienced and openly admit the need to bring Christianity back into alignment with the truth and reality of my inner teachings.

So it was specifically in this context and for this purpose that I encouraged people to follow Paul. I agree with you that Paul has had a profound impact on Christianity. Yet I must tell you that the impact Paul has had on Christianity is actually based on a watered-down and misunderstood view of Paul’s actual teachings. Although Paul did not have a complete understanding of my teachings and mission and was heavily influenced by his personal background, he did have a very deep understanding of the basic elements of my message. You can even find hints of this message in his letters and other writings.

For example, Paul talked about the carnal mind and the natural man. He talked about the need to put off the old man, the dualistic mind, and put on the new man of the Christ mind. He specifically said, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” Paul, therefore, understood that the essence of my message is that all people have the potential to attain Christ consciousness.

Unfortunately, as I am sure you can see, most Christians, ancient or modern, did not understand Paul’s teachings. So few modern Christians understand the true meaning of the point I just described even though Paul clearly saw the need to follow in my footsteps. This is not entirely surprising, because not all of my disciples understood this part of my message. As I have tried to explain, Peter himself did not fully understand and embrace the need to follow me all the way. This point was, in fact, the source of some disagreement between Peter and Paul.

So my point is that if modern Christians would follow Paul’s example and go through a complete turnaround in the way they approach the Christian faith, much could be gained. If they would then make an effort to understand the inner message of Paul and the inner message of Christ, much more could be gained. In fact, if modern Christians would make the effort to establish a direct personal contact with their Christ selves and with the spiritual realm, we might yet have a chance to restore Christianity to its original purity and thereby help bring about my original purpose and vision for this planet.

The beloved disciple – John or Lazarus or all

You are—all of you.

Question: I mean John or Lazarus, In the Gospel of John?

There was no specific disciple. It is a metaphor.

Who are my brothers and sisters? Those who hear the word of God and do it. Who is the beloved disciple? The one who seeks oneness with me. And thus, you all have the potential to be the beloved disciple.

You see, it is an outer, linear form of thinking to think that everything in the Bible has to be factual. There are many, many things in the Bible, including many statements I made, that were not meant to be interpreted in factual, linear terms. In fact, my beloved, it would be wise of you to assume that anything I said was a metaphor and was not to be taken literally. For you will go much further by interpreting it beyond the literal interpretation.

Genesis, Chapter 4 makes it clear that Adam and Even had three children, and they were all boys. So if Adam and Eve truly were the first humans and the only humans in the Garden, how could their three sons have begotten children? Genesis Chapter 4 says:

16 And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
17 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.

25 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.
26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.

Who was Cain’s wife and where did she come from? For whom did Cain build a city; himself, his wife and Enoch? Who was Seth’s wife and where did she come from?

Logically, there is no way Adam and Eve could be the parents of humanity if they had only sons and if there were no other people on the planet. Given what is known today about genetics, it simply isn’t possible that two people could be the parents of the entire human race. The gene pool would have been too narrow and the inevitable effect would have been degenerative birth defects that would have led the race to become extinct within a few generations.
So if you insist that the Bible is the infallible word of God and that it should be interpreted literally, you have no way of explaining this. You have to either deny the Bible or the biological facts. This is indeed what has happened since the birth of science, namely that people have been forced into taking one of two extreme positions. They either cling to the infallibility of the Bible and deny all evidence to the contrary or they cling to materialism and deny all evidence for a spiritual side of life.

It is my hope with my website to show people that there is an alternative to these dualistic extremes. The alternative is the Christ mind which enables you to see the middle way that is above both extremes.

In this case, the fact is that Adam and Eve were not the only people on earth and they were not the only lifestreams to fall from the Garden of Eden. The story of Adam and Eve is not the ultimate beginning of human life on earth. Adam and Eve should be seen as archetypes, and their story simply tells the story of an entire evolution of lifestreams. These lifestreams first descended into a spiritual school, illustrated as the Garden of Eden. The God in the garden was a spiritual teacher by the name Lord Maitreya. The garden existed in a realm of higher vibrations that is not visible to the physical senses of human beings.

As I explain, the material world has four levels of vibration. The Garden of Eden was in what we call the etheric or identity level. Only some of the people in the garden fell into a lower state of consciousness. Others ascended from the garden. Those who fell, lowered the vibration of their consciousness until they could no longer see the garden. They then took on the denser physical bodies that people wear today.

As I said, there were a number of lifestreams who fell at the same time. Yet there were already millions of human beings living in the material frequency spectrum. It was with these people that the sons of Adam and Eve married and had children. Because these people had already descended far below the level of the Christ consciousness, this intermarrying actually hastened the descent in consciousness of the people who fell from the garden. It sped up the process that caused them to forget their spiritual origin.

So the short answer is that there was no incest involved, and the reason was that there were many lifestreams who fell and they fell into a frequency spectrum that was already inhabited by people with whom they could intermarry. Obviously, this answer would not be acceptable to orthodox Christians or materialistic scientists. Yet it is a fact.

Was King David wrong to kill Goliath?

Question: Since God’s ultimate ideal is nonviolence, was King David wrong to kill Goliath? Was there a literal King David as the bible teaches, or this is a fallacy also?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

There was a historical King David, although, as with virtually everything else in the Bible, the stories of King David have been somewhat embellished by people in a certain state of consciousness. As I explained elsewhere, humankind has gone through several levels of consciousness. During King David’s time people were in a mythical state of consciousness, and they would use mythological stories to illustrate spiritual truth. At the time, most people did not take these stories literally.

A problem arises when people in today’s more rational state of consciousness look at these mythological stories and attempt to interpret them literally or explain them rationally. This cannot always be done. Nevertheless, there is actually a truth to the existence of giants, and even mainstream science will one day be forced to recognize the archaeological evidence.

As I explain in my discourse about the war with Iraq, there can be certain instances where killing is justified as self-defense—although that is not an ultimate justification. I would consider the slaying of Goliath as one example of self-defense.

Eating the forbidden fruit

Question: Was “eating the forbidden fruit” synonymous with the decision to procreate, thereby entrapping ourselves in matter and splitting ourselves from our twin lifestreams—at least in our perception?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

Eating the forbidden fruit had nothing to do with procreation. This is a fallacy that has crept into several religions, including Christianity.

Procreation, physical sex, was not the original sin. The original sin was the separation from God and the Lifestream’s decision to turn away from God.

Sin is simply a symbol of the dualistic state of consciousness. By eating the forbidden fruit, people fell into this lower state of consciousness and this has had innumerable effects on people’s personal lives and on society, even on the planet itself. One effect of the descent into a lower state of consciousness is the densification of people’s physical bodies.

I am aware that many people, including many Christians, will be unable to accept this idea. Yet modern since has shown a profound link between people’s consciousness and the most subtle level of physical matter, namely that of elementary particles. Science will eventually discover that consciousness can influence physical matter itself, and therefore many of the current conditions found on this planet are simply the reflections of conditions in the collective consciousness of humankind.

Before the fall, lifestreams did not multiply through physical procreation. They brought forth children through the power of the mind. After lifestreams fell into a lower state of consciousness, their bodies became denser and they no longer had the spiritual and mental powers to procreate with the mind. Therefore, physical procreation became a necessity for the survival of the race. In other words, physical procreation, including physical sex, is a product of the density of humankind’s consciousness. It was not included in God’s original design for this planet.

As the consciousness of humankind is raised, it will, at some future time, once again become possible for lifestreams to procreate through the power of the mind.

The separation of twin lifestreams is not a product of procreation but a product of the descent into a lower state of consciousness. When you do not have a clear connection to your spiritual self, you simply do not have the ability to recognize your twin lifestream. Therefore, it is almost impossible for people to avoid being separated from their twin lifestreams.

The Bible codes

Question: Are the Bible Codes in the book of Torah real?

Question 2: Everyone seems to be making a huge fuss over a code found in the original Hebrew edition of the Old Testament, or the Torah. Is this code for real? Is it predicting actual earth events? Does it contain the only possible outcome or several possible outcomes? And was it God or aliens that put it there?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

Ask yourself a few questions. Why would God hide a code in a spiritual teaching that was originally given as direct revelation and which was passed on in an oral tradition? Why insert a code that could not be interpreted until thousands of years later when people invented computers?

In order to believe in such a code, you have to believe that although God supposedly gave humankind the Bible as a result of direct revelation, God somehow lost the ability to give direct revelation after the Bible was given. In other words, God must have known that he had only one shot at giving people divine revelation, and therefore he had to insert a code that people could interpret later, when they had computers but no revelation.

When you think about this, it simply doesn’t make sense. God is almighty, so God could never lose the ability to communicate with human beings. So why would God insert a code in a communication that was given thousands of years ago in order to communicate a message that he could just as easily communicate today through direct revelation? When you truly understand the reality of progressive revelation, which has been ongoing far longer than recorded history and will be ongoing for the indefinite future, then there really is no need for a hidden code in the Bible.

It is perfectly true that any true spiritual teaching can be interpreted at many different levels. This is expressed in the saying:

But without a parable spake he not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples. (Mark 4:34)

So there are different levels of understanding of my teachings, corresponding to different levels of spiritual maturity. Nevertheless, the hidden understanding does not take the form of a code that can be interpreted only by a computer. It takes the form of teachings that cannot be understood by the dualistic mind. The true meaning can be unlocked only when the student raises his or her consciousness above the level of the dualistic mind and makes contact with his or her Christ self.

Why this sudden interest in and discovery of the so-called bible code? Part of it is that humankind’s consciousness is being raised, which makes it easier for people to recognize hidden patterns. I have already commented on this elsewhere.

However, another part of the explanation is that since the Fall some people have been looking for a mechanical means to salvation. These people love computers, which are, contrary to popular belief, entirely mechanical devices and will never achieve any real intelligence. A computer can only recognize mechanical patterns, yet Christhood cannot be attained in a mechanical manner—even though many false teachers want you to believe that this is possible. This is the way that seems right unto a man, but the ends thereof are the ways of death (Proverbs 14:12).

The simple fact is that the computer cannot extract real information. It can only analyze a literary work and compare it to the values that are programmed into the computer by the operator. So the type of codes that can be found in the Bible will be determined by what the operator is looking for. This is very similar to what has already been discovered by quantum physics, namely that the consciousness of the observer will inevitably influence the observation.

The truth behind this “discovery” is that as long as people are trapped in the dualistic mind, they will tend to see what they want to see. Only when you rise above duality and attain the true vision of the Christ mind will you see that which is real.

In reality, you can take almost any sufficiently lengthy and complex literary work and find some kind of code or pattern. However, as quantum physicists ask, “Is the world really there when no one is looking?” Likewise, you might ask, “Is the Bible code really there when no one is looking?”

There are certain literary works in which the author deliberately inserted a cipher code. This was done in societies where persecution from church or state made it dangerous for the author to reveal certain information. Therefore, the information was preserved in a code that could be read only by those who had the key. Examples of this are the works of Francis Bacon and Shakespeare. However, as I explained above, God has no need to use such codes. God and the ascended masters can at any time use direct revelation to convey our messages.

What is unforgivable sin?

Question: In three of the four gospel accounts, you speak about the “unforgivable sin.” Were these your words? And if so, will you please explain. Is there truly a sin that is unforgivable?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

I talked about a sin that cannot be forgiven in the following quote:

Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. (Matthew 12:31)

To understand what this means, it is necessary to understand the Holy Ghost. As explained by Mother Mary in several of her discourses and as explained by the Presence of Unconditional Love, it is a law of God that all life must continually self-transcend. Human lifestreams were created to be co-creators with God. To complete this task, people were given free will. One consequence of this is that they can choose to create something that is not in harmony with God’s laws and God’s creative intent.

When you create something that is out of harmony with God’s law, you have committed a sin. As I explain throughout this website, everything you do is done with God’s energy. When you go against the laws of God, you misqualify a certain portion of God’s energy. This is what eastern religions call karma. One might say that a sin has two aspects, and one is the misqualified energy, which we might call the mechanical aspect of sin. This aspect of sin is easily forgivable. The misqualified energy can be purified or requalified by high-frequency spiritual energy from Above. When the energy is requalified, one might say that the sin is forgiven, meaning that it is no longer a burden to the person.

One way for sins to be forgiven is that a person invokes spiritual energy and directs it into transforming the misqualified energy. However, people’s sins can also be forgiven by a spiritual being who chooses to free a person from some of the misqualified energy created through the person’s sinful acts. For example, if a person has truly forsaken the consciousness of duality, the consciousness of death, and has sincerely striven to live a spiritual life, a spiritual being might remove some of that person’s karma, or misqualified energy.

This can be done for people who warrant this intercession, so that they can accelerate their spiritual growth without being burdened by the misqualified energy created in the state of consciousness that they have now forsaken. In other words, God has no desire to punish human beings; he simply wants people to learn from their mistakes and come up higher in consciousness. Therefore, once you have forsaken the state of consciousness that caused you to commit a certain type of sin, there is no teaching value in being burdened by the misqualified energy. It can therefore be lawful for a spiritual teacher to remove some or all of this misqualified energy. Nevertheless, such intercession generally happens only when people have forsaken the consciousness that caused them to sin.

This brings us back to the sin against the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is that aspect of God which is assigned to remind people that they cannot stand still in an imperfect and limited sense of identity. That is why I said:

5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. (John, Chapter 3)

Being born again means being born into a new sense of identity that is based on the single-eyed vision of the Christ mind instead of the dualistic vision of the dualistic mind. Those who are born of the spirit are always willing to self-transcend, and they do not cling to the sense of identity that is born of the flesh.

So we might say that sin has two aspects. The misqualified energy is the outer, or mechanical, aspect of sin. The inner aspect of sin is the consciousness that causes you to misqualify energy. However, even the state of consciousness has two aspects.

Many sins are committed because people simply do not know better. They have limited knowledge or they were brought up with an incorrect understanding, and this causes them to misqualify God’s energy. Yet if these people were given a higher understanding, they would chose to abandon their old understanding and stop sinning. Therefore, even the consciousness that causes you to sin is not necessarily a sin against the Holy Spirit. However, it can become the sin against the Holy Spirit if you refuse to transcend your old beliefs and your limited sense of identity. In other words, when you refuse to self-transcend, you create a sense of identity as being permanently separated from God or even being in opposition to God.

Take note of the subtle distinction. Your actions are always the result of your state of consciousness, so sin always springs from a state of consciousness. However, as long as you are willing to expand your understanding and change your sense of identity when you receive a higher understanding, you are not sinning against the Holy Spirit. The sin against the Holy Spirit occurs only when you refuse to expand your understanding and when you refuse to transcend your present sense of identity. This is indeed what happened to Lucifer, as explained by Mother Mary. The entire Luciferian consciousness, which causes people to believe they know best and therefore don’t need to change, is a sin against the Holy Spirit.

As I said, sin has two components. One is the misqualified energy, the other is the state of consciousness that causes you to misqualify that energy. A spiritual being can take from you the misqualified energy as an act of grace, and therefore that sin can be forgiven. Yet the spiritual being cannot take from you the state of consciousness that caused you to sin. The reason being that you created that state of consciousness through your free will, and a spiritual being is not allowed to violate your free will. Therefore, the sin of an imperfect state of consciousness can be forgiven only when you make the freewill decision to undo the imperfect choices, to abandon the imperfect self-images, that caused you to accept a mortal sense of identity.

Do you see the subtle distinction here? When you sin against the Holy Ghost, you accept or build a sense of identity as being separated from or in opposition to God. All of your beliefs, thoughts, feelings and actions spring from your sense of identity. No being in heaven can change or take away your limited sense of identity for you. You must do this through a completely free choice.

However, the sin against the Holy Ghost is not simply the limited sense of identity. It is the refusal to transcend that sense of identity! This refusal can, over many lifetimes, lead a person to create a sense of identity that causes the person to believe that he or she either cannot, or does not have to, self-transcend. There are numerous versions of this sense of identity, but the important point is that this sin cannot be forgiven, meaning that it cannot be taken away by a spiritual being.

It can be overcome only when the person makes a free decision to replace the imperfect decisions that make up the mortal sense of identity with choices that spring from the mind of Christ. So one might say that the sin against the Holy Ghost cannot be forgiven, meaning that it cannot be taken away by an outside force. It must be forsaken, and once it is truly undone, you will be free of that sin. You will still have to deal with the misqualified energy created through that state of consciousness, and this is where God’s mercy can come in and take some of that burden away from you through grace. And it is true, as stated in the Bible, that most people have so much misqualified energy, so much karma, carried over from past lives that unless some of it is taken away through grace, they cannot not be saved, meaning they could not qualify for their ascension.

Take note that the sin that is unforgivable is an imperfect sense of identity. This can be much more subtle than most people think. As an example, look at the following statement:

For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 5:20)

The scribes and Pharisees, and many of the other religious authority figures who rejected me, had built a sense of identity that made them believe that because they were Jews, and therefore belonged to God’s chosen people, and because they were doing all the right things according to the outer law, they were so good that God simply had to save them. In other words, they did not truly need to self-transcend and change their attitude to life, their beliefs about life and their sense of identity. They had built a sense of identity that made them believe that they did not have to self-transcend in order to enter the kingdom of heaven. They simply had to continue believing and doing what they were doing, and then they would automatically be saved without changing themselves.

That is why I said that unless your righteousness, meaning your willingness to self-transcend, exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. Why is that so? Because the kingdom of God is within you, meaning that the kingdom of God is a state of consciousness. To enter the kingdom of heaven, you must put on the wedding garment of the Christ consciousness, and the Christ consciousness is a sense of identity which empowers you to see yourself as a son or daughter of God.

Do you see the all-important conclusion? The key to putting on the Christ consciousness is to change your sense of identity. You must be willing to transcend your mortal, limited sense of identity and accept an immortal, unlimited sense of identity.

Unfortunately, in today’s world millions of Christians have fallen into the very same trap as the scribes and the Pharisees. They have built a sense of identity which makes them believe that because they belong to a Christian religion – which they see as the only true religion – because they have declared Jesus Christ to be their Lord and Savior, and because they follow all the outer rules and doctrines of their religion, they will automatically be saved. They think that God simply has to save them.

Yet they have not been willing to transcend their mortal sense of identity as sinners who cannot enter the kingdom of God, even though I told them that the kingdom is within them. They have not been willing to let this mind be in them, which was also in Christ Jesus. They have not been willing to follow my example and do the works that I did. Therefore, many self-righteous Christians are actually committing the sin against the Holy Spirit, and that sin cannot be forgiven until they use their free will to abandon the sin, meaning the consciousness of duality and mortality, that causes them to deny their oneness with me and their true identity as sons and daughters of God. As I said many times 2,000 years ago, those who have ears had better listen!

More than ten commandments?

Question: I heard that there were more commandments other than the ones given to Moses is that true? If so what are they and did God actually write them on stone tablets as depicted in movies.

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

When Moses first ascended the mountain, he received a set of commandments that presented a higher law, a higher relationship between God and man. The essence was that the people needed to transcend their fear-based approach to God and learn to approach God with love. They also needed to learn to respond to all situations in this world with love.

As Moses descended from the mountain with these love-based commandments, he saw the people dancing around the golden calf, which truly is a symbol for the outer, fear-based approach to religion that causes people to worship an idol from this world instead of looking for the true God who is beyond this world a form. In other words, when people create an outer image of God and begin worshiping it as God, they cannot make contact with the true God who is beyond all form.

As a result of seeing this, Moses became angry. He decided that the people were not ready for the law that he was bringing them. Although this was a correct assessment, Moses did not quite understand that you always give a teaching that is higher than what people are ready for because the purpose is to encourage people to move up higher. Therefore, Moses’ anger was not necessary or justifiable. It was the result of unresolved psychology on the part of Moses, and it shows you that even a person who serves as a prophet of the Lord can have certain unresolved aspects of his or her psychology. This can cause the person to miss the highest potential for his or her spiritual mission. So as a result of becoming angry, Moses destroyed the tablets containing the higher law.

Moses’ anger was the main reason God never allowed him to enter the promised land. Again, the spiritual interpretation here is that the promised land is a symbol for a higher state of consciousness, namely what I call the Christ consciousness. You simply cannot enter that state of consciousness as long as you have unresolved psychology that keeps you attached to the dualistic mind, the ego and the things of this world. I can tell you that Moses did not ascend after his embodiment as Moses. He had to come back for several embodiments before he learned to balance the power of God with the wisdom and love of God so that he became more balanced and joyful.

After destroying the love-based law, Moses ascended the mountain again and begged God to give the people a law that was more adapted to their present state of consciousness. God complied, and therefore Moses received a set of commandments, a set of clearly defined rules for behavior. These rules were not essentially different from the former law, but they were expressed in a way that reflected the consciousness of the people and of Moses. The people followed these commandments until I appeared on the scene and gave people a more love-based law. Everything in my ministry was geared toward presenting people with these love-based commandments, but my Sermon on the Mount is the most concentrated teaching on this. Although my Sermon on the Mount is not word for word what Moses was originally given on the mountain, it expresses the same general principles.

It is not correct that God’s finger or flames of fire burned the original commandments onto the stone tablets. This is Hollywood taking over in order to make a good movie. In reality, God worked through the mind and hand of Moses to write the commandments on the stone tablets. This is the principle that you see outpictured through many prophets, including what you see on this website. God will work through the hearts and minds of people in embodiment.

Although God sometimes uses a higher law that creates what might seem like miracles, God prefers to work through human beings in embodiment. His greatest desire is to demonstrate the miracle that God can work through people, if people allow him to do so. This is another important purpose for my ministry, and you see it in my statement that my Father works hitherto and I work. That is also why I said that I of my own self can do nothing, it is the father within me who is doing the work. The point being that what God can do through one person, God can do through anyone who will raise his or her consciousness and become the open door for God to work in this world.

Dinosaurs at the time of Noah?

Question: In the time of Noah, did dinosaurs already exist? When did they start to exist?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

At the time of Noah, the dinosaurs had long been extinct. If not, Noah would have brought some on the Ark, and feeding a Tyrannosaurus Rex would have been quite a challenge.

You must understand that the timeline given in the Bible is not meant to be taken literally. In fact, as I explained elsewhere, many of the things in the Bible are not meant to be interpreted literally. It is, therefore, sad that many people have become attached to a literal interpretation of the scriptures. This was never the intention of God or the ascended masters.

As I explained elsewhere, there is a progression in the religious life of this planet. Genesis was given to people who were trapped in a very low state of consciousness compared to the state of consciousness that most people have today. Therefore, it was given in a language and explained through ideas and metaphors that these people could understand.

The teaching that God created the world in seven days was never meant to be interpreted as seven 24-hour periods. It should be interpreted as seven spiritual cycles or ages, and each of these ages lasted millions of years.

Therefore, for a person who is willing to free his mind from this need, this beast, of wanting to interpret the Bible literally, there is no conflict between the biblical account of creation and the age of the earth as calculated by scientists. The scientific account of the existence of dinosaurs and the timeframe in which they emerged and became extinct is relatively accurate.

However, scientists will gradually develop more accurate methods for determining the age of fossils, and some of these will demonstrate that the current method of carbon dating is not as accurate as scientists believe. Nevertheless, scientists have developed a fairly accurate timeframe for the evolution of the earth, and according to that timeframe dinosaurs disappeared millions of years before the time of Noah.

By the way, the flood did not occur as recently as most Christians believe. The biblical account of the flood has its origin in a much older event, and it was not a global event.

Is the messiah in the Old Testament and New Testament the same?

Question: If the Old Testament speaks about the messiah coming….is the messiah yet to come? I wonder if the messiah mentioned in the Old Testament is related to the messiah mentioned in the New Testament.

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

When you interpret the word Messiah in the simplest and most direct way, the Messiah of the Old Testament has already come. I am that Messiah.

From the New Testament you can see that I did and said certain things that show that I considered myself to be the Messiah of the Old Testament. To be quite honest with you, I did and said certain things deliberately to establish a connection between myself and the prophecies of the Old Testament. However, I must say that the Gospel writers did embellish upon the facts to make this connection even stronger, and therefore make it more likely that the Jews would accept me as the Messiah and accept Christianity.

When you define the word Messiah in a deeper sense, you realize that the Messiah is a spiritual title, a spiritual office. That office can be held only by a person who has reached a certain level of consciousness, namely what I call Christ consciousness on my website. The person therefore has become the incarnation of the universal Christ consciousness, or what the Gospel of John called the incarnation of the word.

This spiritual office is independent of and transcends any single person. In other words, I was not the first person in the history of this planet to fulfill the requirements of the Messiah and to hold the spiritual office of the Messiah. And I sincerely hope that I will not be the last person to hold this office. In the East, the Lord Krishna did hold the office of Messiah for the evolutions that honor him even today. The Lord Buddha also held this office as did several other people in the distant past not known to present-day historians.

So what I am saying here is that the Messiah is a spiritual office that is independent of any one person or any particular time. Therefore, one might rightfully say that the Messiah is yet to come, meaning that the Messiah of the present time and future times is still to come.

In other places, I have talked about the importance of the second coming. I have also talked about the fact that there are currently 10,000 people in embodiment on earth who are ready to manifest a high degree, even the full degree, of personal Christhood. These people have the potential to become the Messiahs of the current age. The entire idea of my ministry was to raise other people up to attain the Christ consciousness so that the second coming of the Messiah would be the coming of 10,000 Christed ones on this planet. Certain passages in both the Old and the New Testament can be interpreted as referring to the present-day coming of the Messiah and some even refer to a future coming.

So once again you see the danger of imposing a narrow or literal interpretation on biblical passages that can indeed have more than one meaning. In fact, all spiritual scriptures can be understood at many different levels of consciousness. So there is more than one correct interpretation, and the different interpretations might indeed simply be reflections of different states of consciousness. Obviously, there are also incorrect interpretations that reflect a lower state of consciousness.

“John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

This is the first Verse that all the Christians use to prove that Jesus is the only way to the Father. I would like some understanding about the Truth of what Jesus was saying.

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

I came to demonstrate through example what can be attained by people who embody the Christ consciousness. When you embody the Christ consciousness, you identify fully with that state of consciousness. Therefore, you no longer say, “I have found the way the truth and the Life” because saying so implies that there is still a distance between you and the truth. When you truly embody the Christ consciousness, you are the truth. Therefore, the only logical statement is to say exactly what I said, “I am the Way the Truth and a Life.”

The statement that no one comes to the Father except through me must be understood in this context. I was not referring to the outer person of Jesus Christ. I was referring to the Christ consciousness. No one comes to the Father, no one can enter the wedding feast, no one can enter the kingdom of God without putting on the wedding garment of the Christ consciousness. Once again, I was completely identified with the Christ consciousness, and that is why I said what I said.

You now have the truth. Yet I must caution you that many Christians will not be willing to accept that truth. Because if they were to let go of their idolatry of me, and recognize that they can attain the same state of consciousness that I attained, they would have to take responsibility for their lives and their salvation. It is so much more convenient for these people to maintain the belief that I will save them as long as they declare me as their Lord and Savior.

Do not be overly concerned about these lifestreams. They are who they are in the present moment, and they will not be willing to open their minds until they reach a higher level of spiritual maturity. Simply look at them as children who are not yet ready to acknowledge the responsibility of a mature spiritual seeker.
