Why many Christians feel threatened

Question: I find it so strange when people use the Bible’s quotations of Jesus…relying solely on the literal interpretation of it without giving an expanded explanation of what Jesus actually meant by the quote in the Bible. It’s like they use these quotes as a weapon to defraud the real Jesus of his mission on earth. Why do people do that?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

I agree with your assessment that many orthodox or literal Christians use Bible quotes as a weapon. However, consider why people resort to the use of weapons.

While some people use weapons aggressively, most people use weapons in self-defense, and they do so because they feel threatened. Therefore, the very fact that so many orthodox, literal, or fundamentalist Christians feel threatened clearly demonstrates that they have not attained the peace of mind that can only be attained through an inner knowing. This inner knowing must be based on the rock of Christ, namely personal Christhood.

The simple fact is that many lifestreams on earth, be they Christians or non-Christians, religious people or scientific materialists, have not yet reached a level of spiritual maturity where they dare to acknowledge that they have the ability to know truth within their hearts. Until this ability is activated, the lifestream will always feel a deep, inner sense of insecurity.

Because the lifestream finds it difficult to live with this insecurity, it must find ways to cope with the situation. If it does not know or acknowledge the potential to put on personal Christhood, the lifestream cannot truly overcome the insecurity by building the only true sense security, namely personal Christhood. Therefore, the lifestream is left to seek to build its sense of security by using the things of this world.

In reality, this is an impossible task, but because the lifestream does not realize that, it keeps searching for something in the material world that will give it an ultimate sense of security. During this search, the lifestream will often accept a particular belief system and elevate it to the status of an absolute or unquestionable truth. The lifestream feels that as long as it belongs to this belief system, and as long as the belief system is not challenged by anything, the lifestream can feel secure.

Obviously, this sense of security is a house built on sand, but many lifestreams are not willing to acknowledge this fact. They will, in an attempt to avoid dealing with their insecurity, keep following the way that seems right onto a human. Therefore, you currently have many people who spend all of their energy in an attempt to defend a particular belief system, be it religious or materialistic.

In reality, it would require much less effort for such lifestreams to adopt an inner approach and follow the true, inner path to a deeper understanding. This would also overcome the many conflicts between groups of people who are all trying to defend an incomplete and relative belief system instead of seeking for a higher understanding that could heal their personal schisms and their outer conflicts.

I can assure you that both myself, and all my colleagues of ascended masters, would love to see this situation change. We would love to see these people open their minds to a higher understanding than what they currently have. Throughout history, this precise tendency, whereby people close their minds to a higher understanding of truth, has been the biggest obstacle for our efforts.

Unfortunately, as long as people hold on to a particular outer belief system, there is not much we of the ascended masters can do to help them. The brutal fact is that such people often need to be shaken out of their false sense of security by some event that causes them to lose faith in their belief system. This often leads to a deep personal crisis in which many lifestreams to feel like they have nothing left to believe in. Such lifestreams often fall prey to the discouragement that is truly the sharpest tool in the Devil’s toolkit.

I wish I could inspire all lifestreams to engage in a gradual path, whereby the lifestream gently increases its understanding of the spiritual reality. By following a gradual path, the lifestream would avoid a crisis of faith and the danger of despair and discouragement. This is the path I am attempting to outline on my website.

I did not personally write the Epistle to the Hebrews.

Reality is in the mind of the reader

Question: In one of the lost books of the Bible, the Book of Jasher it is reported that Abram, because he wouldn’t adore the false gods of his day, was cast into a burning furnace and escaped unharmed while his brother was burned up. Is that a true story and is the Book of Jasher accurate?

Answer from ascended master MORE through Kim Michaels:

Yes and no! In the sense, my beloved, that there are many of the stories from the Old Testament, and even from the New Testament, that do not have the same kind of reality that you conceive today when you hear the concept of reality.

You see, my beloved, humankind’s consciousness has changed tremendously in the last several thousand years, in ways that modern people cannot comprehend. And therefore, when you look back at some of the teachings in the Bible – and even other scriptures of the world, such as the scriptures of the Vedas and Buddhism – people with a modern state of consciousness – who are more used to thinking in a materialistic, linear way – will have the question “was this real?” And when they ask the question, they will look at this as they conceive reality.

Whereas the people who were alive at that time had a different conception of reality, where they were not as linear, not as focused on the material, and therefore did not necessarily see things in black-and-white, linear terms. So they understood – to some degree – that there was a symbolism in these teachings, and that it was not necessarily a physical furnace but more a symbol of the trial by fire, whereby every man’s work is tried—whether it is real or not real.

And so, my beloved, this is then what creates the problem, where you have the modern fundamentalist movement who without knowing it are affected by the modern mindset, the linear materialistic mindset. And then they look back at the Bible, and they look at some of the teachings and statements and they say, “Ah but this must then really, physically have happened exactly the way that WE interpret the Biblical words.” And they fail to realize that people back at that time did not necessarily interpret them the same way.

And so, when you look at the flood of Noah, for example, you can say that there is a reality in the sense that there was a flood that gave rise to the story of Noah’s ark. But it was not the kind of flood that you perceive today. Because, my beloved, back then the people who received the teaching and experienced the events did not have the concept of the earth that you have today. They did not see the earth as being as big as you see it today, did not see the earth as being round, did not realize that there are mountains on this earth much taller than the mountains they saw around them, such as Ararat.

And so, my beloved, when you – with a modern mindset – look at the flood of Noah, you say, “Well if the Bible is to be taken at its word, it must mean that the flood was a worldwide event that covered the entire earth, including the tip of Mt Everest, with water.” And that is then when you get into the other aspect of the modern mindset, the skeptical, scientific mindset which says, “Well, how could this be possible? Where could that amount of water possibly come from?”

And so, my beloved, do you see what I am saying here? There was a physical event that gave rise to this. But it was not the same kind of event that you envision with a modern mindset. In other words, a myth was built upon the original event that made the event more dramatic to the modern mindset than it actually was in reality.

And this is how it is with so many things from the past, my beloved. And that is why I started out by saying that the book was accurate and inaccurate at the same time. For it truly depends on the mindset with which you look at the ancient text—the filter through which you interpret it.

My beloved, it was indeed the Maha Chohan [embodied as Homer] who brought forth the teachings of the Odyssey and the Iliad. But does it necessarily mean that the hero of the Odyssey encountered all of the creatures that are described in the text? Or was it a symbol for what he actually encountered in his own consciousness? And so, do you necessarily have to adopt the mindset that if we no longer believe in these kind of creatures, then the Odyssey must be completely unreal and therefore have no value to modern people?

And of course – again – with the Bible, whether the events of the Bible should be interpreted literally according to the modern mindset. Well, the fact that they have a deeper symbolic meaning does not make them obsolete, my beloved. And so, again, do not be hung up on these interpretations. For surely, as we have expressed through our modern teachings, there is more to understand. And as you will see from Maitreya’s book, there is a deeper understanding of Genesis than the literal interpretation.

And thus, I will also impress upon you that there are many ways to interpret spiritual teachings. And this does not mean that one is right and all others have to be wrong. This is another effect of the modern mindset, where you – based on a scientific mindset – have come to believe that there is only one true answer to a particular question or one correct result of a scientific measurement. And yet, I tell you that there is a level of consciousness that deals with quantities, and that is the level where modern science is currently stuck—which is why they want to measure and quantify everything.

But beyond the level of reality that is quantifiable is a deeper level, where you cannot quantify by measuring them and dividing them up in units—for reality is not linear. And so to understand and contact that deeper level of reality, you must be willing to go beyond the analytical, intellectual mind that wants to quantify, that wants to put labels on everything.

What truly matters is not whether a certain story in a certain spiritual text is accurate or happened exactly as described. What truly matters is that you use the story to trigger an inner experience that helps you transcend a certain level of consciousness. Spiritual scriptures and texts are not formulated to give factual, linear, intellectual information. They are formulated to help people transcend a certain level of consciousness. No one in the modern world is completely free from the mythical state of consciousness, so all people can benefit from reading these ancient texts and using them as a springboard for intuitive discoveries.

And so, my beloved, I realize that I have not answered your question in a linear way, but I trust that the answer will be sufficient.

Why you should not take the Bible literally

Question: Beloved Jesus, could You comment on this fragment from Matthew’s Gospel? As I see, in a dictation given by Mother Mary when she released her very first Rosary in this new dispensation, she told, that union between her and Joseph was physical, but with the participation of Holy Spirit, but this Gospel says that it was without participation of Joseph. Is this a lie? You know, that I usually go away of this fact (because I’m a member of Russian Orthodox Church), and I don’t think it is important for my spiritual growth, even I am afraid to think about this, but now it’s a critical point and I ask You, Beloved Jesus, please put the things on their places and help me.

18 This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.
19 Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.
20 But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.

Let me take this as another opportunity to comment on the common belief among Christians that the official gospels must somehow be the infallible word of God and that they fell from the sky in their present form. If the gospels really are the infallible word of God, then why are there four gospels? Why not simply give one gospel that contains everything you need to know? Furthermore, even though the gospels have many similarities, they also have some differences, even some contradictions. Why run the risk of creating confusion and doubt, why not simply give forth one gospel?

I know many Christians will not acknowledge that there are inconsistencies and contradictions in the gospels, but take a look at the following quotes concerning how I first appeared to my disciples after my resurrection.

Matthew, Chapter 27:

1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.

Mark, Chapter 16:

9 Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.
10 And she went and told them that had been with him, as they mourned and wept.

Luke, Chapter 24:

13 And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs.

15 And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them.

John, Chapter 20:

11 But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre,

14 And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.

16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.

I fail to see how anyone can read these quotes and still hold on to the belief that the four gospels are the infallible word of God. It is impossible to explain away the inconsistencies and contradictions in these quotes. Now, there are those who will say that such inconsistencies have no impact on their faith, but that is an attitude that is both constructive and non-constructive.

I am in no way pointing out the flaws in the gospels in order to destroy people’s faith. However, I would very much like to see people go beyond blind faith and come to a faith that is based on understanding, even inner knowledge. As I said:

Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch. (Matthew 15:14)

It is not constructive that people maintain the blind belief that the Bible must be infallible, for it prevents them from going beyond literal interpretations. And without going beyond the surface, how can you develop a deeper faith based on understanding? Why do you think I said to my own disciples:

14 And when he had called all the people unto him, he said unto them, Hearken unto me every one of you, and understand:
15 There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.
16 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
17 And when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.
18 And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? (Matthew, Chapter 7)

I expected my original disciples to look beyond superficial interpretations, and I expect the same of my modern disciples. The sad fact is that those who maintain their blind belief in the infallibility of the Bible have adopted the same mindset as the lawyers of old, namely the people I denounced as follows:

Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered. (Luke 11:52)

Blind faith in the outer word and a refusal to look beyond a literal interpretation of that word was what I denounced in the scribes and Pharisees when I said:

For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 5:20)

Blind faith prevents you from finding the key of knowledge, which can only be found by going beyond the outer word, by going within yourself, which is why I said:

Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. (Luke 17:21)

If you do not go within, how can you hear the directions of the comforter that I have sent to help all people understand the inner meaning of my teachings:

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; (John 14:16)

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. (John 14:26)

The Comforter can teach you nothing as long as your mind is closed to anything beyond the official scriptures and a literal interpretation of them. And when you do open you mind, you will realize that the four official gospels did not fall from the sky as the infallible word of God. They were written by four different people, and although they had varying degrees of Divine inspiration, they also had a practical agenda for their gospels.

In other words, the four gospels were not written to be put next to each other in the same book, nor did the people writing them think they were bringing forth the infallible word of God that would stand unchanged for all eternity. The gospels were adapted to specific groups of people and thus each gospel is to some degree adapted to the beliefs and culture of the people for whom it was written. This is common knowledge among people who have studied the Bible and the context in which each gospel was written.

It is also common knowledge that the Gospel of Matthew was written in part to convince Jews that I was indeed the Messiah they had been promised in the Torah. Thus, this gospel starts with a genealogy and contains many references to scriptures and prophecies from the past, including the one in the section quoted above: “All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel—which means, ‘God with us.’”

In other words, the gospel was written specifically to tie my life to the Jewish prophecies—the law and the prophets. There are many things in Matthew that are specifically designed to accomplish this goal, meaning that the words and the content will support the writers goal. This is not necessarily false, but certainly there are many other valid ways to describe my ministry and there are many other aspects of my life and teachings that could be described. As John realistically says:

And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen. (John 21:25)

It is not commonly understood that the word “virgin” is actually a mistranslation of the Hebrew word “almah” that more correctly means a “pure woman.” This referred to a woman who was living a holy life and who had dedicated her life to serving God, as was Mary before she met Joseph. In other words, women could commit themselves to the celibate path even after having been married and having children, which would still make them pure. Thus, a woman could be pure while not being what modern people call a virgin, meaning that the Old Testament prophecy could actually be fulfilled by Mary even though I was conceived in a physical manner.

Why was the Hebrew word translated as virgin? Because during the formation of the Roman Catholic church, everything possible was done to set me above other people and make me so special that no one could follow in my footsteps. If I was the only person ever to be born by a physical virgin, I must obviously be above and beyond all other people, meaning that no one could possibly follow in my footsteps. This has allowed mainstream Christians, be they Catholic, eastern Orthodox or Lutherans, to ignore some of the passages that clearly point to the fact that I came as an example for all to follow:

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (John 1:12)

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. (John 14:12)

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. (Matthew 16:24)

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: (Philippians 1:5)

If you dare to go within and ask the Comforter to reveal the truth to you, you will understand that the Gospel of Matthew seeks to establish my authority as the Messiah in order to convince the close-minded Jews. And later that gospel was mistranslated by close-minded Christians bent on destroying my example by setting me up as an idol that no one can follow. These people took my teachings – given to set people free – and used them to control people by saying people could only be saved by me through the outer church. This is precisely the approach taken by the leaders of the Jewish religion—the very leaders who killed me. I denounced them by saying that the kingdom of God is within you, which means that you can be saved without an outer church.

It is time for modern spiritual people to acknowledge their potential to find the kingdom of God within themselves and thereby be the Christ in embodiment on earth. To do this, they must overcome the belief that the Bible must be infallible in order to be useful. Surely, the gospel writers had Divine inspiration, but their words were adapted to their own consciousness and the consciousness of the people for whom the gospels were written. This is no different from any other genuine revelation, including this website. However, there is a difference in the sense that because humankind have risen in consciousness, I can tell people more on this website today than I could reveal through the Gospel writers 2,000 years ago. And this is proven – undeniably – by my own words:

I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. (John 16:12)

It is therefore high time and past time to set people free from all fear of looking beyond the official Christian scriptures. Dare to let the Comforter guide you beyond what the official churches want you to know. As Moses said to Pharaoh, I now say to the orthodox churches: “Let my people go!” And to the spiritual people who are still trapped in blind adherence to orthodox churches, I repeat God’s words to Abraham:

1Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will show thee:
2And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great. (Genesis, Chapter 12)

Rewrite Old and New Testament?

Question: Concerning your comment on the site that many additions or deletions have been made to the original old and new testaments… things would be greatly clarified if Jesus would take the time to rewrite both in its original form…. so much opinion is based on surmising what is or isn’t missing is relevant or not relevant to us today. Why would God spend the time having the Old testament recorded if it wasn’t supposed to be relevant throughout the ages? Why not make that clear when initially writing it?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

In my discourse on the progression of spiritual cycles, I explain that humankind is engaged in a constant process that leads people toward higher states of consciousness and thereby toward a higher understanding of the spiritual side of life. Therefore, no spiritual teaching was ever meant to be timeless.

As I explain in Save Yourself, we of the ascended masters are the originators of all true spiritual teachings. Contrary to what human beings like to believe, it is never our purpose to give an absolute or infallible spiritual doctrine. We give a spiritual teaching that is carefully adapted to the level of consciousness of the people we are trying to reach with that teaching.

The purpose of the teaching is to take the target audience to the next level in their spiritual evolution. Once they have taken that step, the spiritual teaching that brought them there has fulfilled its purpose, and therefore it needs to be replaced by a new and higher teaching.

So there really isn’t that much purpose in rewriting either the Old or the New Testament in their original form. Even in their original form the scriptures are not as relevant today as they were when they were given. Therefore, it is far more productive to bring forth new spiritual teachings that are adapted to the state of consciousness that people have in the current age. This is indeed what I am doing on this website and what all members of the ascended masters are trying to do through many other endeavors.

I can assure you that we did try to make it clear to the people who wrote down the Old and the New Testament that those teachings were not meant to be absolute and infallible. Yet as long as people are trapped by the relativity of the dualistic mind, they find it very difficult to grasp and accept this idea. Therefore, most religious people ignore this concept and elevate their particular teaching as the only true religion. Fortunately, we are moving into a time when his belief will gradually fade away and allow most people to rise to a much more sophisticated approach to religion. It will be a universal approach based on the inner path that runs like a golden thread through all true religions.

The Old Testament becoming obsolete

Question: It seems that your aversion is primarily focused on the New Testament and Christianity. The Old Testament is of great relevance to the history of the New Testament and Christianity but you rarely mention it. Do you have a personal aversion to Christianity in particular?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

I do not have an aversion to the New Testament itself. I have an aversion to the approach that many modern-day Christians, and for that matter the Christians of centuries past, take to the New Testament. You will see these objections in my discourse on whether the Bible is the word of God. LINK

I especially object to the elevation of the Bible into an infallible doctrine that leaves no room for progressive revelation. This is simply a misuse of spiritual scriptures, and it was never intended by the ascended masters. It is upheld by people who seek to use religion to control the population, to obstruct the work of the ascended masters and obscure the true meaning behind releasing a spiritual teaching.

I rarely mention the Old Testament because it is becoming increasingly obsolete as a spiritual teaching, thereby becoming primarily relevant as a historical document. I am fully aware that the Old Testament contains many teachings of a timeless nature. Yet, as I explain in great detail elsewhere, the consciousness of humankind is continually being raised to higher levels. The Old Testament was given to people in a much lower state of consciousness than what most people have today. Therefore, the consciousness of the people put some very stringent limitations on what could be released in Old Testament times.

Because people’s consciousness has now become more rational, they find it increasingly difficult to relate to the mythological teachings found in the Old Testament. This does not mean that I dishonor the Old Testament or see it as unimportant. On the contrary, I greatly honor the contribution that the Old Testament has made to the spiritual progress of humankind.

The Old Testament by and large fulfilled its mission during its time. However, time is simply running away from many of the teachings found in the Old Testament. They need to be replaced by higher teachings or they need to be reformulated in the language of today. This is partly what you see happening on my website and in the books I am releasing through this and other messengers. Indeed, we of the ascended masters have released many spiritual teachings over the past century that are the modern version of the teachings given in the Old and New Testament.

The Old Testament will always have value as a historical document, and it should be revered as such. However, I can tell you that there are indeed inaccuracies in the Old Testament, and there are passages that could be taken out as erroneous or unimportant. Indeed, some modern-day scholars have attempted to compile a more modern version of the Old Testament, and I do not discourage such efforts. However, I wish the people taking on this task would be more open to receiving directions from the ascended masters.

Is the Bible infallible?

Question: Is the Bible the word of God?

I am addressing this question because so many of my most devout followers have allowed themselves to become so attached to the Bible that they are not open to considering any other spiritual teachings. In fact, many of them are not even open to hearing my living word. Obviously, I am not happy with a situation that prevents me from communicating with my own. I am aware that many of these Christians are not likely to read these teachings. Yet, I desire to address the question.

I am Jesus Christ and I am an ascended being. Everything that ever took place on earth has been recorded, and I have full access to those records. When I look at the history of the Bible, I can truly say that the Bible is the most complex literary work on the planet.

The origins of the Bible go so far back that both orthodox Christians and materialistic scientists would be reluctant to accept it. It springs from an ancient oral tradition that has been told and retold over countless generations. I am sure you can see the possibility that during such a long process some things might have been lost, some things might have been distorted and some things might have been added.

Parts of the Old Testament did indeed originate as the result of divine inspiration. Many things have been added onto the original delivery, and these additions were also the word of God through divine inspiration. Therefore, parts of the Old Testament were indeed divine inspiration. However, during its long history, the Old Testament has been added onto by people who did not respect the word of God and who had no compunctions about adding, subtracting and distorting the word of God to suit their purposes.

Therefore, the best one can say about the Old Testament is that it does indeed contain fragments of the word of God, but that much of it is no longer the pure word of God. At the same time, one must also recognize that some parts of the Old Testament were never meant to be the word of God. They were simply historical records telling the story of a certain group of people in an attempt to preserve those records for posterity.

As for the New Testament, one of the reasons why I did not personally organize the writing down of my teachings is that I did not want to bring forth an outer doctrine, because I knew that it would inevitably be distorted. And why would I bring forth an official outer doctrine when I was still delivering the living word? Furthermore, it was my intention to keep delivering that living word indefinitely.

Therefore, I desire you to recognize that when the original gospel writers wrote down the New Testament, they did not attempt to provide a complete account of my life or my teachings. Their aim was to preserve a historical record of some of the highlights of my life so that the growing Christian movement would not enter into disputes about what I did or said. This was a noble goal, but once again I must tell you that had people been willing, they could have received that information directly from me.

I must also tell you that the only way to resolve disputes among different groups of Christians is through the living word and the Christ consciousness. When you look at the many contemporary Christian sects, who each claim to have the correct interpretation of the scriptures that were delivered 2,000 years ago, I am sure you will agree that no written record could possibly resolve the disputes among Christians. The dualistic mind can create conflict where no conflict exists, and you can never resolve that conflict by using the dualistic mind itself. Therefore, no written record, regardless of how authoritative it might seem, could ever resolve the disputes and differences between people who are caught in the dualistic mind.

I want you to understand that the original gospel writers did indeed have a certain measure of Christhood and that much of what they wrote was inspired by me. Obviously, the Book of Revelation was brought forth through direct inspiration. Therefore, it is not incorrect to say that the New Testament, in its original form, was the word of God. However, you need to understand what is meant by the expression “the word of God.”

Is Baptism necessary?

Question: Is Baptism necessary? If so by whom and where do I get it done?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

That depends on what you mean by “baptism” and what you mean by “necessary.” I am not trying to be funny, because it truly is important to define these terms.

In the New Testament you will see that there are two types of baptism. John the Baptist baptized people with water, and he said that one would come after him who would baptize them with fire. Most people assume that he was referring to me, and in a sense that is true because I was a representative of the Christ. Nevertheless, the true meaning of the baptism by fire is that it is a ceremony and an initiation that is performed by the Holy Christ self of each person.

The baptism by water is a symbol for the process of purification that leads the lifestream to the point where it is ready to attain a direct, conscious and permanent contact with its Christ self. This does not necessarily mean that the lifestream has attained full Christhood, but it does mean that the lifestream has attained a direct inner communion with the Christ self, which enables the lifestream to get answers and directions from within. In other words, the lifestream has permanently realized that it is a spiritual being and that it is only temporarily abiding in the physical body. It has realized that it is in this world but that it is not of this world.

So ideally the baptism by water should start the process whereby the lifestream purifies itself of false beliefs and imperfect energies, heals its emotional wounds and chooses to leave behind imperfect choices and momentums from the past. When this process is successfully completed, the lifestream will attain permanent contact with the Christ self, and through that thread of contact the fires of the Holy Spirit can flow through the Christ self and into the lifestream and be expressed in its thoughts feelings and actions.

There is little point in performing the baptism by water shortly after the birth of a child, because the child has no conscious awareness of the need to walk the path of Christhood. In an ideal spiritual community, the child would be raised with an understanding of the fact that I was an example to follow and that it has the potential to walk in my footsteps and therefore ascend the spiritual path that leads to personal Christhood. This would be explained to the child in easy-to-understand terms that was adapted to a child under the age of 12.

As you will see from the New Testament, the first significant event in my life recorded after my birth is when I appeared in the Temple at the age of 12. This signifies that after the first 12 years of life, a child who is properly tutored in the spiritual path is ready to receive a glimpse of its spiritual mission and calling. This then is the time when a child should ideally be baptized by water. You could then replace the confirmation ceremony with this baptism.

However, baptism should be preceded by a period of instruction in the path to Christhood. Armed with this knowledge, the child would be ready to receive the baptism by water and make a firm inner commitment to walk the path of Christhood. As a person ascends this spiral in the coming years and decades, he or she would eventually reach the point of attaining conscious contact with the Christ self. At that time, the baptism by fire would happen spontaneously from within.

In other words, no outer ceremony is necessary to mark the baptism by fire, although one could be performed as a symbol. However, such a ceremony could only be performed by a minister who had already attained a high degree of Christhood and therefore could recognize the Christhood in another.

Obviously, for a person who was not brought up with an understanding of the path to Christhood, baptism by water can be performed later in life when the person is awakened to the reality of the path. As I explained in my remarks about Holy Communion, the most important factor in any spiritual ceremony is the inner commitment of the person receiving the ceremony. However, it is also beneficial that the person performing the ceremony has inner attunement and empowerment by the Holy Spirit.

My point here is that if you have not been baptized in a Christian church, you can certainly go through this initiation if you desire. However, the real important point is that you make the firm inner commitment to begin the path of personal Christhood. If you wish to mark that commitment with an outer ceremony, then by all means do so. However, I am not saying that the outer ceremony is absolutely necessary. You can make the commitment on your own.

If you can find a minister who has some empowerment of the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit flowing through the ceremony can give you a good start on your path to Christhood. I cannot at this point give you a specific recommendation as to a particular church or minister. You must use your inner discernment in this matter. What I can say is that here is currently no outer church that offers a full understanding of the path to Christhood.

Let me now comment on whether baptism is necessary. The fact of the matter is that throughout the history of this planet many lifestreams have manifested personal Christhood and have qualified for their ascension, what many Christians call salvation, without being baptized in a Christian church—or for that matter any other church. Therefore, the baptism by water is by no means a necessary ingredient for salvation. However, as I just described, it can indeed be an important stepping stone on your personal path, if you enter into the ceremony with the right inner commitment.

As for the baptism by fire, it is clearly a necessary step on the path to salvation, but it is an inner ceremony that will take place when the lifestream is ready. You can take the baptism by water with false motives – you can take it by force – but you cannot fake the baptism by fire. You are either ready for it or you are not.

Choosing not to partake of Holy Communion at a church

Question: Would it be acceptable for someone who does not choose or does not have an opportunity to partake of Holy Communion at a church to perform his/her own ritual at home by blessing bread and/or water/juice in your name? Would it also be acceptable to conduct this ritual for a group of people in one’s home?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

Yes, this would be acceptable. As I explained elsewhere, the true significance of Holy Communion is the transfer of light. This transfer of light will depend on the purity of consciousness of the person who is performing the blessing of communion.

Contrary to the claims made by Christian churches, the ordained priesthood does not have a patent on pure hearts. In fact, the ornate raiment of a man of the cloth might hide an impure heart, and such a heart cannot bless Holy Communion with the true Light of Christ, no matter how elaborate the outer ceremony.

So it is perfectly acceptable to me that a person blesses his or her own communion, either for one person or for a group. However, take note that the blessing will be in proportion to the purity of heart of the person performing and receiving the blessing. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God, and in seeing God they can anchor the Light of God in the material universe. This Light can then be transferred to the bread and the wine and turn them into the body and blood of Christ. The bread being a symbol of the wisdom of Christ and the blood being a symbol of the love of Christ.

Let me also say that I clearly prefer that people use a drink, such as grape juice, that contains no alcohol. Wine was practical in previous ages because it did not go bad in warm climates. However, with today’s modern technology, there is no longer any reason to use an alcoholic drink for communion. Alcohol is not beneficial to spiritual growth, and thus it should be avoided by true spiritual seekers.

Receiving Holy Communion

Question: Would you please comment on the nature and significance of receiving Holy Communion? I am interested to know why some churches offer only bread or the communion wafer at Communion and not wine or juice and, also, why some new age groups offer Communion and others do not.

Holy Communion is a very significant ritual. However, the value of any religious ritual is in direct proportion to the attitude with which you participate in that ritual.

To explain the true significance of Holy Communion, let me first clear up a common misunderstanding concerning this ritual. When I walked the earth, I appeared in a culture that was very heavily influenced by the idea of blood sacrifice. The Jews believed that animal sacrifice was necessary to appease God. While animal sacrifice was clearly a lesser evil than the previous human sacrifice, it is nevertheless a completely unnecessary ritual. Only people in a very primitive state of consciousness can believe that spilling the blood of a human being or an animal will somehow appease God. Today, I would like to see all human beings leave this state of consciousness behind.

Because the Jewish culture was so attached to the idea of appeasing God through the spilling of blood, some of the early Christians developed the idea that my crucifixion was the ultimate blood sacrifice. I would like you to understand that we of the ascended masters have to work with people in their present state of consciousness and then seek to help them rise to the next level. Therefore, I do not condemn my early followers for developing this idea. It was, to some extent, a practical measure that did help some Jews abandon the practice of animal sacrifice and embrace Christianity.

However, I must tell you frankly that the idea that the spilling of my blood was somehow necessary to appease God or to atone for people’s sins is completely and utterly groundless. Your God is a God of unconditional love. As I have explained elsewhere, your God is not angry, and your God does not require sacrifices or the spilling of human or animal blood. Therefore, my crucifixion was not a necessary sacrifice, and it truly had no connection to the practice of human or animal sacrifice.

The significance of this teaching is that Holy Communion has no connection to the spilling of blood through sacrifice. When you receive Holy Communion, you are not eating the flesh and blood of Jesus Christ. This is not a cannibalistic ritual.

You must understand that when a person has completely united with the universal Christ consciousness, as I truly did towards the end of my mission, that person makes statements based on this union. When I said, “This is my body which is broken for you,” I was not referring to the physical body of the person of Jesus. I was referring to the spiritual body of the universal Christ consciousness. Obviously, this also applies to the blood which is simply a symbol of the energy of the universal Christ consciousness.

I started the ritual of Holy Communion as a tool whereby people could remember not simply the outer person of Jesus, but the universal Christ consciousness. As I have explained on my website, the very basis for spiritual growth is individual Christhood. To attain this Christhood, a person must receive a portion of the universal Christ consciousness. It is the universal Christ consciousness which is broken for you, meaning each human being. Only by accepting this individualization of the universal Christ consciousness, in the form of your personal Christ Self, can you rise above the dualistic mind.

When you receive a portion of the universal Christ consciousness, the energies of that consciousness will, if you allow them to do so, act as the leaven which will raise the vibration of your entire consciousness. Therefore, Holy Communion can be seen as a symbol for the transfer of the Christ consciousness to each human being. The ritual of Holy Communion can also release a certain amount of light or spiritual energy from the universal Christ mind. Each time you receive such a portion of light, it will help raise the vibration of your consciousness and thereby help you take one step closer to personal Christhood.

It is important to understand that the transfer of light through Holy Communion is not guaranteed. It depends on the inner attunement, the level of consciousness or the level of Christhood of both the person serving Holy Communion and the person receiving Holy Communion. It is incorrect to believe that because a priest goes through a certain ritual to bless communion, that communion will automatically be charged with the light of the Christ consciousness. The transfer of light does not happen through the outer ritual. It can only happen through the consciousness or heart flame of the person performing the ritual. Thousands of priests bless communion without opening up for a transfer of light. Therefore, the communion is not holy.

However, even if the actual bread and wine is not charged by light, a person receiving communion with an open heart can still receive a transfer of light. If you receive Holy Communion and make a sincere effort to attune your mind and heart to me, you can receive a transfer of light, even if the person serving the Holy Communion was not able to be an instrument for such a transfer.

Therefore, the more sincerely you approach the ritual of receiving Holy Communion, the greater the light that can be transferred through this ritual. Obviously, if you have a priest who has great inner attunement and is able to transfer light through the blessing of Holy Communion, then a person receiving that communion can receive a double transfer of light. Therefore, it is the inner attunement of both the person giving communion and the person receiving communion that determines the significance of the ritual.

Obviously, I created the ritual of communion by serving both bread and wine. However, I am not attached to whether people serve bread and wine or serve bread alone. The transfer of light is not guaranteed by the outer ritual but by the inner attunement of those participating in the ritual. Therefore, the transfer of light can occur no matter what people serve. Let a particular organization serve what people prefer to serve. However, I would like to see those who make such decisions receive those decisions through their Christ Self instead of making such decisions with the outer consciousness.

I cannot tell you why some New Age groups serve communion and why some do not. This depends on decisions made by the leaders of those groups. Once again, I would like to see such decisions be based on direct communion with people’s Christ Self.

Paying tithes—but only with love

Question: Is paying tithes actually scriptural? What is your opinion on paying tithes?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

The Bible contains several references to the principle of paying tithe. For example, Abraham paid tithe to Melchizedek, the king of Salem. So in that respect, I would say that paying tithe is scriptural.

The simplest way to explain the principle of paying tithe is to compare it to the process of sowing seeds. You have a person who after a long winter has a little grain left. He now has to go out into the field and bury that grain in the ground where it could rot or be eaten by animals. The person has no absolute guarantee that his efforts will bear fruit. Yet the person does have an absolute guarantee that if he does not sow the grain, he will not receive a harvest.

Money is a symbol for the light of God. Everything in this universe is made from God’s substance, God’s light. The nature of God’s light is to flow. This is expressed in the saying that freely ye have received, freely give. When you recognize that it is the Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom, then you should freely share and give of what you receive from God, what you receive from life.

You can even see this in society. When the economy of a nation begins to contract, people become pessimistic and spend less money. This causes the economy to contract even more. When the economy is expanding, people feel optimistic and spend more money, which causes the economy to grow faster.

What I am saying here is that the nature of God is to flow and expand. When you are in alignment with the principles of God, you are receiving freely and giving freely. As part of giving freely, you can consider giving a certain part of your income to purposes that are not related to your personal needs or desires. You would give this 10% of your income to what one might call God’s purposes. You would give it to areas of society that have a greater need than yours.

When you do this, you demonstrate to God that you are willing to give part of your income to causes that do not relate to your own personal needs. You are willing to put your own needs second to the needs of another, to the purposes of God.

God will multiply the offering according to the purity of your heart. My parable about the talents demonstrates this principle. You will see that the Master praised the servants who multiplied their talents and chastised the servant who buried his talents in the ground. The basic principle is that you should allow God’s light to flow through you. When you do so, God will multiply your offering manifold. If you put one grain of wheat in the ground, you will receive many in return.

I am not saying that you can pay tithe exclusively to a church or religious organization. You can certainly pay tithe to any form of charitable organization.

In the past, many churches have used the principle of tithing by trying to make their congregations feel obligated to pay tithe to the church. Some churches have even attempted to scare people into giving them money. This is a misuse of the law of the tithe because it violates the principle of freely receiving and freely giving. You should not give tithe out of fear or a sense of obligation. If you have such feelings, then use the teachings and techniques on our website to consume those feelings.

Likewise, you should not pay tithe out of an expectation of a return because this also violates the principle of free receiving and giving. Tithing is not a business deal between you and God, and if you approach it as such, you break the circle of the free flow of God’s light.

If you are currently paying tithe out of any negative feelings, here is my suggestion for you. Stop paying tithe on an indefinite basis. Study and apply the teachings and techniques on our websites to overcome your fear-based approach to religion and adopt an approach based on love. Simply don’t pay tithe until you get an impulse from within, an impulse based on love, that tells you where to give your tithe.

As a side note, let me say that in many industrialized countries taxation is very high. I would therefore consider it acceptable that people paid 10% of their income after tax. This can still fulfill the law of the tithe. Render unto Caesar’s that which is Caesar’s and unto God that which is God’s.

Let me also say that people should not become attached to the figure of 10%. Remember my parable about the woman who gave all that she had and received a greater return from God than the rich man who barely noticed his gift. If you cannot afford to pay 10% of your income, then pay what you can afford and pay it with love. God’s multiplication is not so much related to the outer amount but to the amount of love in your heart.

The Christmas celebration

Question: What is the TRUE meaning of Christmas and is the actual date of your earthly birth more close to around April 16, 6 BC? How should we view this season known as the “Christmas” season since we are not to look on you as an idol as the orthodox church has made you.

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

Thank you for asking that question on this particular day [December 25th, 2003]. I welcome the opportunity to comment on the Christmas celebration.

Let me first comment on the time and date issue. At this point I do not want to reveal the exact time and date of my birth. The reason being that the main goal for my website is to help people overcome their idolatry of me. The fact that people are so obsessed with the time and date of my birth is an expression of this idolatry. If I gave you the exact time and date of my birth, people would use it to find some characteristic that set me apart from other human beings. They would take it as proof that I was different, and therefore it was easier for me to manifest Christhood.

The reality of the situation is that my birth date and time did not have some kind of cosmic, universal significance. Because I had the potential to become the spiritual Master for the next age, I was born during the time period that marked the transition into the Age of Pisces. My exact birth time had a significance in terms of my personal karma that I needed to work out in my last embodiment on earth, and it set the best possible stage for my personal mission. Therefore, the particular astrological configurations at the time of my birth do not have any significance for other lifestreams, who have their own circumstances to work out.

If you could project yourself back to the mindset that existed 2,000 years ago, you would see that many people were obsessed with a person’s birth. Not only did the Jews discriminate against those who were not Jews, but even within the Jewish community there was a discrimination based on family background. So when the Gospel writers started writing the Gospels, they decided that in order to make the story more acceptable to people they had to put a special emphasis on the importance of my birth.

It is generally accepted by scholars that the Gospels were written in a certain order, with the Gospel of Mark being the first Gospel. You will see that the Gospel of Mark hardly mentions the circumstances around my birth, whereas the Gospel of John makes it an incident of cosmic importance. This is simply an illustration of how the succeeding Gospel writers placed greater emphasis upon, and to some degree even embellished upon the facts, of my birth. This is one of the main reasons for the intense idolatry around my outer person that has been built and now sustained for 2,000 years.

So the bottom line is that the time and the date of my birth, and the circumstances around that birth, are not particularly important. I will say that the date you mention is closer to my actual birth date than December 25th in the year 0. Nevertheless, it is not the exact date.

In reality, I was born in the spring season, and the celebration of my birthday during the darkest time of the year was a later addition. Because I do not consider it particularly important that people know or celebrate the exact time of my birth, I have no problem with the birth of Christ being celebrated during the darkest time of the year. In fact, I consider this a very practical arrangement. It is precisely during the darkest days of the year that people need to be reminded of their potential to become the Christ. And this potential should be the main focus for the Christmas celebration.

For those who are willing to look beyond the exact outer circumstances around my life, and who can free their minds from a literal interpretation of the Bible, the story of my life can be seen as a symbol for the birth of the Christ in every lifestream.

Once again, the inordinate idolatry around my birth obscures reality. So many people believe that I was born in the fullness of personal Christhood and with a full remembrance of my divine origin and mission. This is far from being the case. Although my lifestream did have great spiritual attainment at inner levels, I was born with no particular remembrance of this. I did have a very strong intuition, but I had to gradually discover my spiritual identity and my spiritual mission. Therefore, I can assure you that my life was not different from or easier than the life of most other human beings on this earth. Everyone faces the challenge of discovering his or her true identity and of deciding whether to fulfill his or her spiritual mission.

Therefore, the correct way to approach the celebration of Christmas is to see the story of my life as a symbol for the stages that every lifestream goes through as the Christ child is born within that lifestream and eventually grows to the full maturity, at which the lifestream can express its personal Christhood in this world.

I was born as a helpless baby, as is every other human being. No human being suddenly walks from an unenlightened state of consciousness into the fullness of Christ consciousness. For spiritually inclined people, there does come a specific time in a person’s life when the Christ consciousness is born within that person. This is an inner experience in which the lifestream senses that there is more to life, more to reality and more to his or her own identity than the normal human consciousness.

The Christ consciousness is born as a fragile and in many ways helpless baby. Saint Paul understood this and talked about people who were still babes in Christ. The reason being that in the beginning the lifestream’s sense of Christ consciousness is fragile. It needs protection, support and nourishment. Ideally this should be given in a spiritual community, in which those who are further along on the path of Christhood can support the lifestream. Unfortunately, in today’s world neither orthodox Christianity nor materialistic science can provide this kind of support and understanding, and therefore most lifestreams have to fight their way through the wilderness of the human consciousness largely on their own. This is not to my liking, and I hope it can be changed by the emergence of spiritual communities, in which people can support each other in the growth towards Christhood.

So let me return to the celebration of Christmas. I see no reason to abandon the Christmas celebration. I see no reason to move it to another time of the year. It is a tradition that is ingrained in western culture, and it could easily be turned into a very significant spiritual experience.

I do believe that Christmas in many nations has become unnecessarily commercialized and is too centered around materialistic pleasures, from giving gifts to eating large meals or even drinking and making merry. This, of course, has nothing to do with the birth of the Christ consciousness within the lifestream. Realistically, I do not see that this can be changed in the near future.

However, for those who are willing to look for a deeper meaning, I suggest the development of a celebration that focuses less on my life and birth and truly sees this as a symbol for the birth of the Christ consciousness in every human being. Once you begin to see that the Christ child is not simply the baby that grew into the person of Jesus, you are on the right track. You can then see that Christ child as the innocent birth of the Christ consciousness within every lifestream.

You can now create a celebration that is aimed at assisting lifestreams in experiencing the birth of the Christ consciousness within them, and you can extend that celebration into a community of people who support each other in protecting and nourishing that Christ consciousness until it eventually matures.

In today’s world, many people have already attained a high degree of Christhood, as explained elsewhere. Therefore, it will not take 30 years for the Christ consciousness to mature within them. It can be achieved in a much shorter period of time. Nevertheless, a celebration focused on the birth of the Christ within the individual lifestream could be an immense inspiration that could help people consciously recognize their Christ attainment. They could then nourish the Christ child within them, until it matures and comes into full expression when that lifestream transforms the water of the dualistic mind into the wine of the Christ consciousness. When that transformation occurs within an individual, there is no turning back, as there was no turning back for me after I performed that feat at the wedding in Canaan.

At that moment, the lifestream can no longer hide its light, and it will now go on to fulfill its mission. This will include challenging the persecution of the world, but obviously a person in today’s world will not need to be nailed to a cross for manifesting Christhood.

So I encourage people to continue to celebrate the Christ mass at the darkest time of the year but to turn it into a celebration of the birth of the Christ consciousness within every lifestream. When I was born 2,000 years ago, the Christ mass was the birth of a single child destined to manifest Christ consciousness. In today’s world the Christ mass has taken on a new meaning.

The second coming of Christ truly means the birth of the Christ consciousness within thousands and millions of people on this planet. When this does occur, you can celebrate the true Christ mass in which a great mass of human beings experience the birth of the Christ child in their hearts. I can assure you that wise beings from all over the spiritual realm will flock to bear witness to that birth and to bring many spiritual gifts to the establishment of a new sense of community between those Above and those below.

The Easter story is the story of every person

Question: What do you want us to know about Easter?

The Easter story is very rich and complex, and therefore it can be interpreted in many different ways that can all be valid, because each interpretation exposes a different facet of the totality of the story. However, I would like to present one perspective as food for thought.

One of the main messages I seek to get across on my website LINK is that I never desired to be elevated to an idol who was set apart from the rest of the people on this planet. I am not an egomaniac, as I am being portrayed by many Christians who insist on taking the biblical story literally or even embellishing upon it and making me into a God or a Savior. I never wanted to be seen as so far above the people that they cannot possibly reach me or follow in my footsteps.

Therefore, the message I would like all open-minded people to understand about the Easter story is that it is not about one person; it is not about me. In reality, it is the story of every lifestream, and it is meant to illustrate the path that every lifestream can follow. I realize that many Christians have been brought up with an idolized version of Jesus Christ, and they find it very difficult to free themselves from that idolatry. Therefore, they insist that I was a unique person who is above and beyond anyone else ever to walk this planet.

I was indeed a unique person, and I did come on a unique spiritual mission. Yet a very large part of that mission was to give forth a universal spiritual teaching relating to the spiritual potential for every lifestream on earth—because truly everyone is unique in the eyes of God. I not only gave that teaching through my spoken word, I more than anything demonstrated the teaching through my life. Therefore, every aspect of my life illustrates a part of the universal, inner teaching that I came to bring to this planet, and the Easter story is no exception. In other words, the Easter story is an illustration of the path that every lifestream can follow on its way to Christhood and the permanent ascension into the spiritual realm. The Easter story illustrates the very last part of the lifestream’s journey.

The Easter story can be broken down into three main elements. The first element is my entry into Jerusalem, where I was welcomed by many people as a king. We might compare that to the birth of every child, because most children are welcomed by their parents and family and treated as if they were someone special—which they are.

The second phase of the Easter story is what happened between my entry into Jerusalem and my resurrection. This phase illustrates what happens to the lifestream as it begins to grow up. You will note that the reason people welcomed me into Jerusalem was that they had a certain image of me. They had certain expectations of me being a king who would deliver them from the Romans, and they wanted me to live up to those expectations. However, it did not take long before many of them began to realize that I was not about to fulfill their expectations of me. Take note of how quick they were to turn on me, when they realized I would not be bound by their expectations. Some of the same people who shouted hosannas at the gate were crying “Crucify him!” at my so-called trial.

This then is the story that the lifestream experiences as it grows up and begins to discover and express its individuality. The choice that every lifestream faces is whether to conform to the expectations of the world, including parents, family and society, or whether to develop and express its unique spiritual individuality and fulfill its spiritual mission.

I am not hereby saying that every lifestream has the same spiritual maturity or spiritual mission. If you look at my discourse on the levels of spiritual development, you will see that some lifestreams are not ready to complete the spiritual journey because they need healing or the resolution of their psychology. Therefore, it is perfectly acceptable that some people live a life that is not particularly spiritual and that does not challenge the expectations of society.

However, for the more mature lifestreams there will come a point where the lifestream faces the choice of whether to deny its true individuality and spiritual mission in order to conform to the expectations of the world. My life was meant to illustrate that when you do reach that point of maturity, you need to be true to who you are, and you need to fulfill your mission no matter what the world throws at you in response. My story was meant to inspire people with the courage to endure whatever persecution the world directed at them, and even go all the way and allow the world to kill their bodies, if the world decided to do so.

Fortunately, we have now moved into a more civilized phase on this planet, and in many parts of the world you are not likely to be killed for expressing your spiritual individuality or pursuing your spiritual mission. Nevertheless, you are still likely to be exposed to a fair amount of persecution, as you can even see from some of the negative responses to this website. In fact, some of that persecution will come from people who consider themselves to be good Christians.

The important point in the Easter story is not the fact that I was killed. The important point is that I was willing to let the world kill me, if the world wanted to do so. This is expressed in my saying that he who seeks to save his life shall lose it, and he who is willing to lose his life for my sake shall find it. The meaning of that statement is that if you submit to the expectations of the world and deny your spiritual identity, you will lose your life in a spiritual sense. Yet if you remain true to your spiritual identity and mission, even to the point of being willing to let the world kill your physical body, your lifestream will find immortal life in the Christ consciousness.

The reality of the situation is that most people who dare to express their true identity and pursue their spiritual mission will be persecuted by the world. They might even be crucified in a spiritual sense, meaning that they will not be nailed to a physical cross but that they will be nailed to a spiritual cross by people’s expectations. For example, many people have been spiritually crucified by the media in terms of a smear campaign or character assassination that has portrayed them as falsely as I was portrayed by the temple priests.

The point is that if you are willing to allow the world to do whatever it wants to do with you, yet never for a moment deny your spiritual identity, you have the opportunity to go through the spiritual initiation of the resurrection. In my case, it was a physical resurrection to illustrate the potential that every lifestream can be resurrected into a higher state of consciousness and a higher sense of identity. This was meant to illustrate that the lifestream can overcome death and win immortal life. What has not been understood by most Christians is that to win immortal life, the lifestream must be willing to let its mortal sense of identity die on the cross.

The point being that even while I was hanging on the cross, I was facing the test of whether I would hold on to any part of my human sense of identity or whether I was willing to completely surrender that identity to God. Even though I momentarily felt abandoned by God, I did eventually surrender myself completely unto God. At that moment, my physical body and my mortal sense of identity died, and at that moment I passed the spiritual initiation and won my resurrection.

Obviously, I am not saying that every person has to go through the experience of being physically nailed to a cross and dying on that cross in order to be resurrected. Yet every lifestream must go through the experience of expressing its spiritual identity regardless of the persecution directed at it by the world. If the lifestream remains true to its spiritual identity and is willing to give up every aspect of its human, or dualistic, identity, then the lifestream can win its resurrection. The resurrection means that the lifestream has now transcended all human identity and has fully embraced a new identity as a son or daughter of God. The lifestream has then passed the final exam on planet earth and has qualified for the ascension into the spiritual realm. In other words, the lifestream is no longer bound by the wheel of rebirth and does not have to come back into embodiment on this planet. The lifestream can permanently move into the spiritual realm and continue its journey from there.

It is my great hope that those who are spiritually ready, those who have ears to hear, will embrace this inner teaching about the Easter story, so that in their minds and hearts they can experience a resurrection of my true inner teachings. In other words, the first thing that needs to happen to a spiritually aware person is that you are willing to be true to my inner teachings, no matter what kind of persecution you receive from the world, including from your fellow Christians who hold on to orthodox doctrines.

If you are willing to let go of all the man-made idols about me and my teachings, if you are willing to let these idols die, if you are willing to let your human sense of identity based on those idols die, then you can be resurrected into recognizing my true inner teachings. At that moment, you will see – and know through an inner knowing that is beyond doubt – that my life outlines a path that you too can follow until you too win your ascension in the light. After you recognize the validity of that path, you can begin to move along that path much more quickly than ever before.

It is my hope that my inner teachings can reach a sufficient number of people who are ready at inner levels to embrace the true inner path that leads to the resurrection and the ascension. This is indeed one of the main purposes behind the original Easter events, and it is one of the main purposes behind the creation of my website. May my true teachings be resurrected in your heart, and may your lifestream be resurrected and follow in my footsteps until I can greet you as you enter our Father’s kingdom.

Why is it called the Middle Way?

Question: We know that the Buddha’s teaching about the Middle Way is not the middle between two dualistic extremes. Now I’m curious about why it became called the Middle Way.

Answer from ascended master Gautama Buddha through Kim Michaels:

As we have explained many times, when we give a teaching, we are not attempting to bring forth the highest possible teaching. For we do not even operate with the concept of the highest. For this is, of course, a dualistic concept of high and low and of comparisons. So what we give is a teaching that is adapted to the specific people that we are seeking to reach. And we must adapt a teaching to their culture, to their belief system, to their state of consciousness.

So when I brought forth the teachings of Buddhism, you had a situation, where Hindu society had become so rigid with the many artificial constructs of the Brahmins, that they had solidified into the outer path of ritual. Yet on the other hand you had a long-standing tradition in India of the ascetics who had withdrawn from the world, who put their bodies through all kinds of extreme measures and tortures, almost as a way to punish the body for providing a prison for the mind.

And so it was my aim to bridge the gap, where many spiritual people of the time thought that they had to be in either one extreme or in the other. And as I discovered myself, neither extreme could lead to enlightenment. But the enlightenment had to be found somewhere, not in-between, but in a different approach.

So at the time the concept of the Middle Way, especially in the eastern culture, did not have the same meaning that you have today in the West, where the western mind is more linear—and thus thinks of the Middle Way as being the mid-point between the two extremes. Whereas to the eastern mind, especially at the time, it had a different concept, a different connotation, of being something beyond, beyond the old approaches.

Renewal of all religions

Question 1: Dear Jesus, After 2000 years, you came to reform Christianity, which misunderstood your teachings, and to clarify the missing links in your teachings and to explain the essence of your teachings. Are we to expect soon the appearance of the Archangel Gabriel, who revealed the Quran, on a website, like your web, to clarify his revelation to Muhammad? I think his explanations and clarifications are now a necessity to the welfare of the Muslims like your explanation on the web to the Christians and others.

Question 2: I get so excited thinking about the many great changes that are already occurring, as Kim’s website and books reach people all over the world. Your true teachings are without question a blessing to this planet. I was wondering if similar “missions” are taking place now as well, or will in the near future, in order to bring any true teachings that religions other than Christianity have not yet been widely known. For example, are Gautama Buddha, Confucius, Lao Tsu, Mohammed, Zarathustra, and Krishna doing similar things that you are now doing to raise the consciousness of individuals in the major religions that they have been associated with? How exciting it is to think of a worldwide mass awakening that includes all religions.

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

I can assure you that the ascended masters are committed to renewing every religion on earth. However, our overall goal is to bring forth the recognition that beyond all of the outer religions is an inner, universal religion. This religion cannot be confined to one particular church or doctrine. It is universal precisely because it goes beyond any particular expression of its nature. You can use a particular box as a stepping stone to reach for the universal religion, but you cannot confine the universal religion to any particular box.

The process of renewing the world’s religions is already well underway. There are indeed many people who are serving as instruments or messengers for this renewal in various ways and in various capacities. We would like to see all of the traditional religions be renewed through the process of progressive revelation. However, for that to happen, two conditions must be met:

One or several suitable messengers must be found. For example, to bring forth progressive revelation to renew the religion of Islam, we must have a messenger who knows Islam, is deeply committed to the religion, yet is still open to a renewal of that religion. In other words, the messenger cannot be attached to a particular aspect of his or her religion and cannot be motivated by the desire to make that religion the dominant or only true religion.
The messenger must be truly universal in consciousness, meaning that the person must have reached a critical level of Christ consciousness.
In order for us to sponsor a messenger to renew a particular religion, a critical mass of the followers of that religion must have reached a state of consciousness that makes them willing to look beyond the outer religion and the outer doctrines and reach for the universal religion behind their particular faith.
It is quite possible that the ascended masters will begin to bring forth progressive revelation for other religions. It may not necessarily happen on a website such as this one, since this website is truly an experiment. What can and will happen with this website depends largely on the response of the people who find it. So far, most of the people who have been open to this website are the kind of people who are already open to the universal religion that I am talking about.

Most orthodox or mainstream Christians have not been willing to take a serious look at this website and look beyond their existing doctrines. They have not been willing to give me – the living Jesus Christ – the opportunity to tell them something that goes beyond the church doctrines that “are like unto whitened sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness” (Matthew 23:27).

The reason I can sponsor my website LINK is that I have a messenger and that there truly is a critical mass of people in the western world who have grown up in a Christian culture but who have been willing to look beyond it and reach for a more universal spiritual teaching, as it is available from many sources. I can only commend these many people for making it possible for me to speak again in this day and age. I am eternally grateful for the love and the openness of your hearts and minds.

Obviously, my website is brought forth through a particular messenger. Nevertheless, it is truly the hearts and minds of the people who are open to the teachings on my website that gave me the open door to bring forth these teachings. Spirituality without religious language

Question: I recently heard about a new Bible, which is created by atheists, and promoted as “A Bible for the rest of us”, or a “Humanist” Bible. It’s called “The Good Book”. It’s possible to find pages on the Internet on the subject – just “google” it. It’s also available at Amazon. The author is A.C Grayling.

My first thought upon this, since I have read somewhere on either this website or in one of the books sold through this site, something about (I can’t find the very quote) that atheism (not materialism) could be a standpoint upon which a new awareness can be built (correct me if I’m wrong!), and to me that would be something that’s sponsored by the ascended masters, and is liberated from the “religious” dogma of traditional Christianity.
I have actually read some lines of it (The Good Book); in the first chapter a certain Tree is mentioned, and a certain Newton is also mentioned (I don’t know if Einstein is). Of course this could as well be an invention from the scientific materialists – and this is also what my first feeling is.
Otherwise, would the ascended masters sponsor a new Bible?
I cannot say I like this. It’s actually made to resemble the real Bible, and considering the fact that the real Bible has been subject to altering, by elites whom see themselves as having the authority to do so, this version could be imposed upon us in the future – as being the real Bible(?)
If that would happen, would it nevertheless be some “fragments” left of the real Truth in “The Good Book”, as is the case in the real Bible? “The Good Book” is in fact a complete rewriting…

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels: (May 17, 2011)

What we have said is that it is quite possible to create a constructive thought system without mentioning God or using any kind of religious or spiritual language. We are seeking to work with all people who are open to self-transcendence. However, it is difficult for people to go beyond a certain level of self-transcendence, if they believe they are creatures of matter and will not consider that there might be a level of reality beyond the material world.

Essentially, what the Buddha did was to create a thought system without mentioning God or any concepts that could conflict the religious dogma of his time. Yet contrary to what some people in the West think, the Buddha never denied the existence of God or a spiritual realm. The Buddha simply took a practical approach. He saw that at the time, the various leaders of the Hindu religion had created an unnecessarily complex theology. It was internally inconsistent and had given rise to many splinter groups, warring with each other.

He also saw that the essential problem was, that most of the people involved had no direct experience of the spiritual realm, so they based their arguments on interpretations and theories created from a lower level of consciousness. Thus, he saw that the only way out was to offer people a practical path to an expanded state of consciousness. Once you have some direct perception of reality, you will be less inclined to cling to a theory and use it as a weapon against others.

I essentially attempted to do the same thing, although – given the nature of my assignment – I did not keep my teaching as neutral from religious jargon. Yet behind my outer teaching, there is indeed an inner path to personal Christhood. It has been obscured, but so has the true inner path to Buddhahood given by the Buddha.

The point is that while we are willing to work with anyone, most atheists and materialists are not open to the one central premise that makes the path work. That is the following realization:

THE HUMAN MIND HAS A TENDENCY TO BECOME A CLOSED SYSTEM

The Buddha saw that the Hinduism of his time had become a closed system. I saw that the Judaism of my time had become a closed system. And we both saw that this is due to a tendency that is built into the human mind.

This is the one realization that atheists and materialists will not recognize. Because if they did, they would have to admit that atheism and materialism are limited concepts that can never set humanity free from ignorance. True freedom can be attained only by reaching for something that is beyond the human mind and the material realm.

Science could indeed help people connect to such an external reality, but due to materialism it is not yet doing this to its fullest potential. Atheists, materialists and humanists have taken the easy way out by reasoning that the problem with the Medieval Catholic Church was that it was based on the belief in a God who is beyond the material world and thus can never be proven. Yet the real problem with the Medieval Catholic Church was that it had fallen prey to the human mind’s tendency to create closed systems.

Surely, pure science has indeed helped free the minds of humanity from the closed system created by Medieval Catholics. But because atheism and materialism will not recognize the inherent weaknesses of the human mind, they have simply imprisoned people’s minds in another closed system. Materialism is as much a creation of the human mind as was Medieval (and for that matter today’s) catholicism.

In fact, materialism is in some ways more of a closed system, for it even glorifies the human mind and the material universe as the ultimate source of knowledge. Read the following quote from The Good Book:

Genesis, Chapter 2

11. Knowledge is freedom, freedom from ignorance and its offspring fear; knowledge is light and liberation.
12. Knowledge that the world contains itself, and its origins, and the mind of man,
13. From which comes more knowledge, and hope of knowledge again.
14. Dare to know: that is the motto of enlightenment.

What is being said between the lines is that only knowledge which comes from within the – self-contained – world and the mind of man is recognized as true knowledge. This, of course, can never lead to freedom of the mind, for indeed true freedom of the mind is freedom FROM the human elements of the mind.

Once you have used the human mind to create a closed system, you can continue almost indefinitely to generate “knowledge, and hope of knowledge again” from within the system. This will, of course, not free you from the closed system. And that is why the second law of thermodynamics will eventually break down the system, as the only way to free the minds of the people. This is what happened to the Catholic Church, this is what happened to communism, and it will surely happen to materialism, atheism, humanism and any other closed system created by man.

Thus, the Good Book is not sponsored by us, partly because it is based on a premise that is internally inconsistent. Read the following quote:

Genesis, Chapter 3

1. All things take their origins from earlier kinds.

If that were true, then it follows that there must always have existed “things” that could evolve into the present “things.” Yet the foremost theory of science holds that everything started in the “Big Bang.” And in the singularity that preceded the Big Bang, time, space and the laws of nature did not exist. Thus, there were no “things” before the Big Bang that could evolve into the things you see today.

Which to a logical mind means that the origin of “things” cannot be explained, unless one recognizes that there must me some “non-thing” beyond the material universe that could give origin to the “things” within the material universe.

Of course, another concern about The Good Book is that we would not today prefer to use the flowering language of the Bible, as it is not the most efficient way to communicate in today’s world. Why promote ideas developed by science in a style that has been made obsolete largely by science?

However, this is not to say that we do not work with a variety of people, who are bringing forth tools whereby people can raise their consciousness. And some of those people are purposely avoiding any kind of religious or even spiritual language. As did the Buddha, it is quite possible to help people raise their consciousness in a neutral way, and once the consciousness has been raised, then religious concepts will no longer be a source of conflict.

If atheists or materialists truly raised their consciousness, then the existence of God would not be seen to them as a taboo that must not be considered or acknowledged. For they would see that it is possible to conceive of a non-material being in other ways than the theist image of the remote and angry being in the sky.

In terms of whether we would sponsor a new Bible, consider that the Bible has for so long been seen as the authoritative book. Consider how often this belief has created conflicts among people. Thus, we have no desire to bring forth a new authoritative book that can be used as a weapon for those with a lower state of consciousness. Let them have their Bibles, their Korans and their scientific textbooks, and let them fight over which one is superior until they have had their fill of this pointless struggle.

Of course, we might bring forth a new Bible as a form of provocation for these kinds of people, but that is another story. In the meantime, we will focus on using non-traditional and non-authoritative sources to help those with open minds, sources such as this website. The Golden Age will not be the age of the book, as was the Piscean age. It will require knowledge that moves too fast to be frozen in books.

The necessary paradigm shift in the fields of science and religion

Question: You have several times talked about unifying science and religion and bringing forth a universal from of spirituality. Can you explain in more detail how this can happen at this time?

It has been said that the only constant on planet earth is constant change. Both common sense and scientific investigation should have proven beyond doubt that there is a process of change which is constantly taking place on this planet. Both science, if interpreted correctly, and common sense reveal that this change, this evolutionary process, is not simply random or unguided. It has a clear sense of direction, and direction demonstrates an underlying purpose.

When you transfer this to the world of religion, it should be easy to see that religion is affected by this constant process of change. Religions that cannot adapt to change will eventually fail to meet the needs of their members, and therefore they will fade away. This has already happened to numerous religions that were once powerful and had millions of followers.

If you are concerned about the future of your religion or church, then you need to gain an understanding of the underlying mechanism that demands change. In this discourse, I will briefly describe this mechanism and then relate it to what needs to happen to religion in this day and age.

I am aware that many Christians look at science with great suspicion. I must tell you that from my viewpoint the hostility between science and religion is completely unnecessary. Furthermore, I will prophesy that within the next few decades the hostility between science and religion will gradually fade away until people can scarcely understand how the current state of hostility could ever have developed.

Science has correctly demonstrated that there is a gradual process of change, a gradual process of evolution, which is constantly occurring on planet earth. However, the current scientific understanding of evolution is incomplete, because it is based on certain incorrect assumptions. I will not go into further details here, because I desire to focus on one of the problems with current evolutionary theory.

Current evolutionary theory cannot correctly explain the observed fact that evolution is not a smooth process. Any unbiased observer will note that evolution occurs in two ways.

Normally, evolution is a gradual process, but at certain times evolution takes a giant leap into a new phase or stage. The correct interpretation of this fact is that the process of life, the process of growth, is driven by two complementary forces. One force is a gradual, evolutionary force that creates smooth and steady progress. Another force is a sudden, revolutionary force which causes growth to temporarily speed up and take a giant leap forward.

Growth happens in cycles

Another way to explain this phenomenon is to say that growth and progress happen in cycles. At certain times, the revolutionary force comes into play and brings life to a new level, a new phase. After a revolutionary leap has occurred, the evolutionary force takes over and for a certain time or cycle progress happens at a steady pace.

When you transfer this fact to the world of religion, you will see that there are cycles in the religious life of planet earth. These cycles last approximately 2,000 years. During a 2,000 year cycle, the evolutionary force brings a gradual progress in people’s understanding of the spiritual side of life. This gradual process is based on and evolves from the pattern that was set when the cycle was initiated.

When a spiritual cycle comes to a close, we of the ascended masters release a very concentrated stream of spiritual energy. This stream of energy is the revolutionary force which brings planet earth, and the consciousness of humankind, to a new level. Some people are able to immediately sense the shift in spiritual energy. They embrace the new energy and begin to express it through their individualized consciousness. These people become the forerunners of a new age, a new spiritual cycle. They run with the revolutionary force.

Other people are unable to sense the shift in spiritual energy, and the evolutionary force will, over the next 2,000 years, gradually bring these people to at deeper understanding of the spiritual energies that govern that spiritual cycle. Unfortunately, some lifestreams resist both the revolutionary and the evolutionary force, and they end up calcifying in a lower state of consciousness.

Spiritual cycles, an overview

Let me give you a brief overview of the spiritual cycles that have been occurring for some time. Let us begin at the lowest level, as represented by the stage of the caveman. Primitive humans were in a state of consciousness in which they had very little understanding of themselves or the world around them. They were passively reacting to changes in their environment without understanding what caused such changes. In other words, they had no way to see any connection between themselves, between their own state of consciousness, and their outer situation.

After the caveman stage, people moved into a stage that was dominated by what one might call a magical consciousness. At this stage, people had begun to understand that there were certain forces working in their environment. These forces caused the phenomena that people observed and experienced. Because people had no way to explain or understand what they observed, they saw natural phenomena as a result of some kind of magical force. People were in such a low state of consciousness that they had no way to clearly understand this force. Therefore, they could not see a pattern in the operation of the force and thought it was completely random and unexplainable. It had to be magical.

After the magical state of consciousness, people progressed in their ability to think in abstract terms. They realized, correctly, that the forces behind natural phenomena were not random. There seemed to be some kind of intelligence or purpose behind it. During this stage, people began to see this intelligence in the form of non-material beings. People began to develop the concept of God.

People then started believing that the forces in their environment were the results of the actions of one or numerous gods. Yet, at this stage people still had no clear understanding of the connection between God and human beings. In other words, they did not clearly understand that their own actions had an impact upon their outer situation.

During the next phase, which roughly began around the time of Abraham, people developed the concept of a God who interacts with human beings. In other words, instead of simply being the passive victims of the actions of the gods, people now began to understand that there is a connection between their own actions and the actions of God.

Because people were still in a relatively low state of consciousness, they gradually developed the concept of an angry and punishing God. However, contrary to previous ages, the anger and punishment of God was not random and unintelligible. The major progress that happened, for the Israelites it happened as a result of the exodus and the law of Moses, was that people began to understand that God’s actions are determined by certain laws. In other words, God only punishes people if they violate his laws. The concept is that if you understand and follow certain laws, you will improve your situation, whereas if you violate or ignore those laws, your situation will get worse.

When I appeared on this planet 2,000 years ago, I brought a new concept of God. Instead of portraying God as an angry and judgmental God, I portrayed God as a loving father figure. The purpose was to make people see a more direct connection between themselves and God. My mission was to preach and, through my own union with the Christ consciousness, demonstrate that all people have the potential to develop a new sense of identity. By developing this new sense of identity, people can attain a correct understanding of their relationship to God, namely that all people are sons and daughters of God.

However, developing the identity that you are a son or daughter of God is not the end of spiritual growth. There is a higher stage and, during the next 2,000 years, humankind must begin to fully understand that higher stage. Planet earth is now moving into a new spiritual cycle, and we of the ascended masters are releasing certain energies that will produce a revolutionary leap in the spiritual evolution of humankind. People must now come to the realization that they are not meant to passively follow God’s laws. Instead, they are meant to internalize those creative principles so that they can become co-creators with God.

Necessary changes in religion

To fully embrace the spiritual changes that are occurring, spiritually interested people must develop an understanding of what is happening. They must understand what was supposed to happen during the last 2,000 year cycle and what is supposed to happen during the next 2,000 year cycle.

If you consider the explanation given above, you will see that what has been happening for thousands of years is that humankind has gradually been brought to a deeper and clearer understanding of their relationship to God. Humankind has been lifted from a very primitive state of consciousness, in which they had no clear understanding of the concept of God, into a state of consciousness in which they are ready to fully understand, accept and embrace a correct relationship to God.

To further describe the evolutionary process of religion, let us talk about the two previous ages and the coming age. As a matter of practicality, let us name these ages by using the precession of the equinoxes, as demonstrated by modern astronomy. The 2,000 year cycle that was dominated by the law Moses is the Age of Aries.

During the Age of Aries, people were meant to come to an understanding of the law of God. Therefore, the main role of religion was to give people an understanding of this law. Every age has a positive and a negative potential. The positive potential for the Age of Aries was that by getting to know the law of God, people would develop the intuitive understanding that it was in their own best interest, it was enlightened self-interest, to follow the law of God. The negative potential was that religion would set itself up as being the source of that law and the police force that was supposed to enforce that law. In other words, while knowledge of the law of God was meant to free people from a primitive state of consciousness, religion could abort this goal by taking on the role as the source of the law and the enforcer of the law.

During the last 2,000 years, namely the Age of Pisces, the purpose of religion can be illustrated in my concept of the good shepherd. Religion was meant to go after the lost sheep and raise them into a new understanding of their own identity and their relationship to God. The positive potential of Pisces was that the church would be a shepherd that gently herded the sheep to a protected pasture, where they could develop a sense of identity as God’s children. The negative potential was that the church would start acting as a prison guard seeking to force the sheep into a fold defined by human beings.

Unfortunately, the Catholic Church turned away from the role as shepherd and instead took on the role as prison guard. During the Age of Pisces, people were meant to develop an understanding of their relationship to God and of God’s law. Therefore, people would gain a still deeper understanding of how their own actions, through the impersonal laws of God, have created their current situation.

Understanding how God creates

I earlier said that what has happened over thousands of years is that people have been raised to a higher understanding of their relationship to God. Part of this understanding is the recognition of how God creates. We of the ascended masters have gradually been raising humankind to a clearer understanding of the fact that God has created the world by using certain principles or laws.

When people understand these principles, and use their free will to align themselves with the law of God, then people can stop the self-destructive spirals that humankind has created and reinforced for thousands of years.

However, the true goal is not to simply raise people to a state of consciousness in which they will stop destroying themselves. The true goal is to raise humankind to a state of consciousness in which people see themselves as co-creators with God. People must come to an understanding of the very principles that God uses to create the world, and then they must realize that they too have the potential to use these principles and thereby help create the kingdom of God. Only by acting as co-creators with God can people become the instruments for bringing God’s Kingdom to earth.

What I am saying here is that the true goal of the ascended masters is to bring the kingdom of God, which truly is a state of consciousness, into the material universe. We want the inhabitants of this universe to see this world as being one pocket in God’s creation. We desire people to understand that my Father’s house has many mansions and that this world, including planet earth, is one mansion in the House of God.

One might say that in previous ages, people did not see any connection between their own actions and their outer situation. They thought they were victims of forces beyond their control. People have gradually been raised to a higher understanding that the world is guided by certain laws and that violating those laws leads to undesirable consequences.

Today, humankind needs to take another leap and realize that human beings have always been co-creators with God. People create through the the power of their attention. Therefore, people must realize that the current limitations on planet earth were not created by God, but by human beings. The only way to improve the conditions on this planet is that people decide to create God’s perfection instead of human imperfection.

A rational understanding of God’s laws

To fully understand the laws and principles used by God, people must rise to a more rational state of consciousness. Over these past 2,000 years, humankind has indeed risen to a more rational state of consciousness, and the best proof is the evolution of science. Unfortunately, the split between science and religion prevents people from reaching the full benefits of the rational state of consciousness.

When God created the world of form, God used two different sets of laws. There is a higher law, a spiritual law, which guides the creation of the entire world of form, including the spiritual world. There is also a lower or material law which guides the creation of the material universe. To fully understand their relationship to God, people must understand both the spiritual law and the material law. Likewise, only by understanding both sets of laws can people fulfill their roles as co-creators with God.

During the past 2,000 years, religion was meant to bring forth a clear understanding of the spiritual law. Because religion, specifically the orthodox Christian Church, turned away from the original intention, humankind does not currently have a clear understanding of the spiritual law of God. Virtually all of the spiritual laws have been made known to humankind, but currently no single religion embraces and describes all of these laws.

The vehicle for giving humankind a deeper understanding of the material law is science. We of the ascended masters sponsored the origin of science, and we have continued to inspire scientists even though science has turned away from our original goal and intention. It was our original intention that science would describe the material law and that religion would describe the spiritual law.

We want people to realize that science and religion are not mutually exclusive. In fact, they are not even in competition. They are simply two sides of the same coin. Religion describes the spiritual law, but without science there is no way to put that spiritual law into practice in people’s everyday lives. Science describes the material law, but without an understanding of the spiritual law people have no vision of how to use material law without destroying themselves. Furthermore, when people sink into materialism they have no sense of purpose or meaning to life.

Unifying science and religion

What would I like to see happen to both religion and science in the coming 2,000 year cycle, namely the Age of Aquarius? I would like to see both religion and science fulfill their proper roles.

Let us begin with religion. In the Age of Pisces, religion was meant to be the good shepherd and bring people to a level of consciousness where they could fully accept their true identity as sons and daughters of God. In the age of Aquarius, people must go beyond that sense of identity. People must realize that by rising above the dualistic mind and putting on personal Christhood, they can serve as the instruments for bringing God’s kingdom to earth. They can serve as co-creators with God.

Therefore, the true role of religion in the new age will be to bring people to a sense of identity as being individualizations of God who have chosen to come into this universe for the specific purpose of helping to bring God’s kingdom to earth. When people have attained this understanding, religion must assist them in building their new sense of identity. When people accomplish this goal, religion must give them an opportunity to express their personal Christhood and their God-given individuality.

In other words, in the Age of Pisces religion was meant to be the shepherd that gently guided the sheep to greener pastures. In the Age of Aquarius, religion must become the vehicle for the expression of people’s new-found identity as co-creators with God.

Now let us look at science. The true role of science in the Age of Pisces was to free people from many of the limitations of the material world. When I walked the earth, most people spent all of their time and energy on mere survival. During the past 2,000 years, technological progress has allowed a large number of people to gain free time and energy.

Unfortunately, most people are not using their free time according to the original purpose. Because of the split between science and religion, so many people have fallen victims to a materialistic state of consciousness. In this state of consciousness, people think that their lives have no higher purpose. Therefore, they spend their free time in a meaningless pursuit of pleasure and entertainment.

In reality, we of the ascended masters gave humankind the gift of science and technology in the hope that when people attained free time, they would use that free time to pursue spiritual growth. Indeed, millions of people in the western world have used their free time to focus their attention on the spiritual side of life, whether it be through religion, spirituality or the self-help movement. Unfortunately, millions more have not yet realized the incredible opportunity they have been given by having free time.

The true purpose of giving people free time is to give them the opportunity to direct their attention away from the mechanics of making a living and towards spiritual growth. You cannot serve two masters. You cannot serve God, meaning spiritual growth, and mammon, meaning the pursuit of pleasure and entertainment. Therefore, the call to “choose this day whom you will serve” is as relevant today as it was 2,000 years ago.

In the Age of Aquarius, the true role of science is to give people ways to express the perfection of God in the material world. Science must also continue to raise the quality of life, so that people can gain greater freedom to pursue spiritual and personal growth. Furthermore, science must serve as a balancing force for religion by removing the subjectivity and superstition that has dominated religion for thousands of years. However, science must do this without destroying people’s faith in God (as it has done for centuries).

The necessary paradigm shift

The ideas described above demonstrate the need for a major paradigm shift in the fields of both science and religion. When I appeared 2,000 years ago, I came to bring a similar paradigm shift into the religious life of ancient Israel. As you know from history, I was rejected by the orthodox religion of the time. I do not expect that the orthodox forces of today, be they in the field of science or in the field of religion, will voluntarily embrace the paradigm shift that I have outlined above. Therefore, how could this paradigm shift possibly happen?

It can only happen from the grassroots level, which is exactly the way Christianity spread through the ancient world. It can only happen if individual people begin to embrace and embody the paradigm shift and a higher state of consciousness. A higher understanding is the only key to bringing about that paradigm shift. The shift can only happen if millions of people will consciously recognize their potential to rise above the relativity of the dualistic mind and to put on their personal Christhood.

Christ and Buddha

Question: I know that Jesus did embody the Christ principle and I know that you wish that others could connect with their own Christ. I am asking are you saying that we cant seek the Buddha? From what I gather the Christ and the Buddha belong to the Second ray of LOVE and WISDOM. LOVE is represented by the Christ and WISDOM is represent by the Buddha.

There is no contradiction or competition between the path of Christhood and the path of Buddhahood. However, different lifestreams need different vehicles, and therefore one religion does not fit all.

The path of the Buddha is generally more suited for people in the East, whereas the path of the Christ is more suited for people in the West.
One might say that Christ consciousness is simply the lower stages of enlightenment. Thus, Buddhahood is a higher form of consciousness than Christhood or a higher stage of Christhood.

When you attain Christhood, you realize that you are one with your source (God) and through that you attain discernment between what is of God and what is not of God. You clearly see that many of the appearances in this world are against God’s law and his intent for this universe. You thus see the unreality of all that is anti-Christ and your task is to free lifestreams from the illusions of anti-Christ.

When you attain Buddhahood, you realize that everything is the Buddha nature, meaning that everything is made from God’s substance. The appearances of this world are simply illusions, Maya. They might appear to be separate from or in opposition to God, but they are simply God’s substance in a temporary and fleeting disguise. Therefore you affirm the reality of God behind all surface appearances.

The Buddha and I are both spiritual teachers and we are part of the same team. The Buddha was sent by the ascended masters to bring the teachings of Buddhahood. Unfortunately, not enough people were able to grasp the teachings of the Buddha, and therefore I was sent to offer them a bridge to help them cross over to enlightenment. For most people, it will be easier to embody the teachings of Christ than the teachings of Buddha. That is, once they understand the true teachings of Christ and not the watered down version, filled with dead men’s bones, offered by orthodox Christianity.

There is no “one true” religion

Question: What is the true religion? Are we to follow the Bible the Koran, the Book of Mormons , seven day Adventist, catholic? I am a Christian, but I don’t want to be wrong when it comes to heaven, I don’t want to be wrong about what I’m believing, everyone believes their religion is the one true religion, how can so many religions be the one true one?

As you will see from my answer to another question, there is indeed more than one true and valid religion. In reality, the true religion is the religion that opens your heart to God and helps you rise to a state of consciousness in which you can see and fully accept that you are indeed a son or daughter of God who is worthy to enter your Father’s kingdom.

I am sure you can see that the process of getting from your current state of consciousness to the state of consciousness that I am talking about must take place inside yourself. We are not talking about becoming a member of an outer organization, swearing allegiance to its outer doctrines or participating in its outer rituals. There simply is no organization on earth that can guarantee your salvation. There never was such an organization and there will be—no matter how many claims are made to the contrary.

One of my most important statements, as they are found in the current Bible, is the statement that the kingdom of God is within you:

20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. (Luke, Chapter 17)

You will see that I said that the kingdom of God comes not with observation. It cannot be found through outer activities; it can be found only by purifying your heart and transforming your state of consciousness. So the right religion for you personally is the one that opens your heart to God and helps you manifest the higher state of consciousness that truly is the kingdom of God, the inner kingdom. On my website, and during my mission in Galilee, I called this state of consciousness for the Christ consciousness. However, you can use any name you prefer, because the name is not important. It is the state of consciousness itself that is important.

There are many of the religions found on earth that have indeed produced people who attained the consciousness that allowed them to enter the kingdom of heaven. There are also people who have attained this state of consciousness without belonging to any formal religion. You will note that I said that blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. When you purify your heart, you attain the state of consciousness that allows you to see that you are one with God because God created you as an individualization of himself. This realization can come only when you attain conscious contact with your Christ self and your I AM Presence.

Contrary to the beliefs held by so many orthodox people from virtually every religion, God is not concerned about which religion you follow. God is no respecter of persons, and therefore God is no respecter of people’s beliefs about which religion is the only true religion. In fact, I can assure you that the entire idea that there can be only one true religion never originated from God or from the ascended masters. It originated with the serpentine consciousness that wants to prove God wrong, as Mother Mary has explained in her beautiful discourse.

This entire serpentine state of consciousness, which I often refer to as the dualistic mind, wants to believe that there is an outer salvation, an automatic salvation, a guaranteed salvation. This is the false path that I talk about in another discourse and which the Bible refers to in the saying that there is a way that seems right unto a man but the ends thereof are ways of death [Proverbs 14:12].

You will see that I often chastised the lawyers, the scribes and the Pharisees for following and promoting this outer path. You will see that I chastised people for doing their alms in public and for giving their prayers in public. I warned about rote repetition, not because repetition is wrong but because a ritual that is performed without engaging and opening the heart has little value in the eyes of God.

The serpentine mind wants you to believe that salvation can be attained through outer means; that it is a mechanical process. In other words, if you follow certain rules and believe certain doctrines, then God simply has to save you. So many religious people are literally trying to strike a deal with God, yet God gives salvation freely to all who will accept it. The problem is that you cannot accept God’s gift while you are trapped by the dualistic mind. As explained in my parable about the wedding feast [Matthew 21:1-14], you cannot enter the wedding feast without putting on the wedding garment. The wedding garment is the Christ consciousness, and nothing less will gain you entry to the kingdom of God.

The serpentine mind also wants you to believe that once you have attained salvation, it is a state of no change and you need never strive again. Yet in reality, God is the eternal creator. God never stands still because God is constantly creating. The only way God can create is to transcend itself and its sense of identity. Therefore, as a son or daughter of God, you are meant to be a co-creator with God, and therefore you cannot stand still either. You must be willing to constantly self-transcend, and this is indeed the key to the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, you can never stand still while on earth—and neither can you stand still in heaven.

You cannot simply find a church that you define as the one true church, accept its doctrines and follow its rituals and then think you will make it to heaven. You must continually strive to expand your understanding of the spiritual side of life, to purify your heart and to raise your state of consciousness, so that you can express more of your divine individuality every day. There are people who have made great strides on the spiritual path for decades and who come to a point where they feel like they have done enough, and now is time to relax and rest on their laurels. Because of the downward pull of matter itself, combined with the serpentine consciousness, such people will immediately, and often without realizing it, begin to slide back into a lower state of consciousness. If they are not alert, they can eventually lose much of the spiritual attainment that they had gained through their decade-long efforts.

The true religion is one that opens your heart to God and keeps it open, so that you can continue to transcend yourself and express more of God every day. I am aware that many orthodox religions promote the serpentine lie of an outer salvation. Yet within all of those churches there are still people who manage to see beyond this lie and open their hearts to me and to God. I honor such people no matter which religion they follow, and I only hope that more and more people will discover the inner path to Christhood. This is truly the key to transforming the old, stale religions into living churches that can once again be open to the winds of the Holy Spirit. God is a Spirit and those that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth [John 4:24].

Levels of spiritual growth: from hell to heaven

Question: I have such a problem listening to Religious TV programs or walking into a Church having to listen to a Minister or Priest speak in ways that sound so heavily laden with religious dogma.

I especially cringe when either I hear guests on a religious TV program or a member of a Church saying things like “I am so blessed by the comfort of the Lord” or “If it wasn’t for my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ…….”.
I have never been a religious person. These expressions are foreign to me and they cut deeply into my mind. Not always, but I often feel repelled by these expressions. However, I understand them and I have a compassion for these people who have the desire to express themselves in this way. I just cannot bring myself to saying these kinds of things. Perhaps it’s because of my aversion to how society has presented and still presents today the Christian faith with such hypocritical overtones. It is such a mystery to me why I find it so difficult to relate to the joy these people feel with their religious expressions. However, when I express myself Spiritually anything religious takes a back seat to the entire matter of being who I truly feel and think that I am. Spirituality is a matter of the Soul becoming deeply involved in my day to day life where Spirit meets the world of form. Whereas religion and religious aspects of life seem to be an outer manifestation of the dualistic mind. I am highly charged with Spirituality and I have had many Spiritual experiences as a result of my being faithful to the practice of meditation and doing decrees.

If you take a closer look at the New Testament, you can read between the lines and see that I often rebuked those who took a certain approach or had a certain attitude towards religion. I was in constant opposition to the religious authorities, I told people to do their alms in secret and not to pray openly. The reason being that I encouraged people to take a specific approach to religion, an approach which on this website has been described as the “inner approach.” You might also call it a mystical or spiritual approach. In contrast to the inner approach is what this website calls the “outer approach.” You might also call it a dogmatic, orthodox, rigid or even a fanatical approach.

It is the goal of all true spiritual teachings to raise people up to take the inner approach to religion. However, one must be realistic and admit that not all lifestreams are ready for this approach. It is helpful for spiritual seekers to recognize that the lifestreams who currently embody on earth are at different levels of the spiritual path. The spiritual path is a process which gradually leads lifestreams to a higher state of consciousness. You might consider the spiritual path as a staircase that leads from the lowest to the highest levels of consciousness.

The lowest level of consciousness is exemplified by the consciousness of Hell, in which you find lifestreams who want to get as far away from God as possible. The highest level of consciousness is that of lifestreams who want to get as close to God as possible in order to obtain union with God. Most lifestreams on earth are somewhere in between these two extremes.
One might say that the spiritual path is a process whereby the lifestream gradually reconnects with its own spiritual nature and its Christ self. Thereby, the lifestream attains an inner connection to the spiritual realm which empowers it to become spiritually self-sufficient. The lifestream’s spiritual beliefs and practices, including the lifestream’s self image and world view, will no longer be dependent upon anything outside the lifestream but on the lifestream’s direct inner experience of the spiritual reality. However, this growth process has many stages.

At the lowest levels of the path, lifestreams have no recognition of the spiritual side of life, including their own spiritual nature. They are so disconnected from the spiritual reality that they often deny the existence of God or anything beyond the material universe. Some of them recognize the existence of God but rebel against everything God stands for.

As lifestreams begin to climb the spiritual staircase, they will eventually come to a point where they decide that they no longer want to deny God’s existence or move away from God. At this point the lifestream has a strong and valid need for an outer religion. Such lifestreams are no longer moving away from God, but they are not ready to even consider the possibility of union with God. Therefore, they need an image of God that is very orderly and keeps God at a safe distance. They need to feel that their relationship to God is based on a set of firm rules. In a sense, one might say that they have a need to feel that they are in control, and they do that by putting God in a mental box.

Because the lifestream has not yet attained inner attunement with its Christ self, it is not able to get truth directly from within. In other words, the lifestream cannot recognize a spiritual truth on its own. That is why lifestreams at this level cling to an outer religious doctrine, and this explains why they often become very rigid in their approach to following a certain doctrine and a certain organization. At this level, the lifestream literally has a need to feel that as long as it belongs to a certain church and believes all of its doctrines, it will inevitably be saved. While this belief is not entirely correct, it does have a legitimate function in terms of giving a lifestream the stability it needs to mature further.

As a lifestream matures, it will gradually build a stronger connection to its higher self, its Christ self. In the beginning, this will manifest in the form of intuitive insights and spiritual experiences. Such insights and experiences will show the lifestream that there is something beyond the material universe and therefore also something beyond the religious doctrines and dogmas found in this world. The lifestream will realize that no mental box can contain the infinite being of God. As the lifestream begins to explore and strengthen its intuitive connection, it gradually matures until it begins to rely more and more on this connection and less and less on outer doctrines.

What happens to many lifestreams in this process is that they can go through various birth pains in terms of letting go of the old approach and fully embracing the new, more spiritual approach to religion. In other words, some lifestreams begin to intuitively sense that the outer religious doctrines are not entirely true or infallible and that they cannot give you a complete understanding of God.

If lifestreams do not understand the process of spiritual growth, they might reject all religion or a particular religion. While this might be a necessary stage in the lifestream’s growth, it would be more constructive and beneficial if the lifestream, instead of rejecting religion, would recognize that the problem is not religion itself but the outer approach to religion. It would be especially helpful if the lifestream would recognize that the outer approach is valid at a certain level of the path.

A lifestream who is maturing could then simply accept that it is time to grow out of this approach. Such a lifestream could then leave the outer approach behind with much less pain. The lifestream would also avoid seeing itself as being in conflict or opposition to those of its brothers and sisters who have not yet reached this level of maturity. In other words, instead of going into a battle with those who still take the outer approach to religion, the lifestream could focus on its own spiritual growth and thereby make faster progress on the path.

As a lifestream matures, it will begin to realize that it needs to move away from wearing religion as an overcoat. The lifestream realizes that the true goal of religion is to attain a higher state of consciousness in which you directly experience the spiritual reality. Religion, or rather spirituality, has now become an integrated part of your being instead of an external force. At lower levels, a lifestream will often approach religion with a sense of fear or obligation. As it matures, the lifestream approaches spirituality as a natural and highly stimulating part of life.

At this point the lifestream begins to realize that a culture based on the outer approach to religion can be in direct opposition to attaining this inner experience. Therefore, the lifestream might need to distance itself from this culture of wearing religion as an overcoat. It needs to attain true spirituality based on experiences coming from within itself.

In the process of maturing, many lifestreams go through a stage in which they have to reject the religious culture based on the outer approach. This is understandable, and once again it can be a necessary stage in the lifestream’s growth. However, the lifestream could make the process far less painful by realizing that the culture based on the outer approach is simply a product of a certain level of consciousness. The lifestream can then realize that it is now moving beyond that level of consciousness. So instead of placing itself in opposition to this culture, it can embrace the higher state of consciousness and thereby embrace the inner, spiritual or mystical approach to religion. Instead of feeling like the old culture still has a hold over it, the lifestream can surrender all attachment to this culture and freely move into the spiritual approach to religion.

If you step back from the situation, you will see that the process of spiritual growth requires two things. All growth is a form of self transcendence. For example, as your body grows during childhood you will outgrow your clothes. The pants that fit you at the age of 10 will no longer fit you at the age of 15. As a natural part of growing up, people throw away the clothes that no longer fit. It would be extremely helpful for people on the spiritual path to realize that this is what needs to happen in their consciousness. As you mature on the path, some of the beliefs that seemed completely valid to you at a lower level of the path will no longer fit your current level of maturity. Therefore, they should be discarded as unceremoniously as old clothes.

What often happens is that a lifestream becomes attached to certain beliefs and finds it very difficult to let them go. This is especially true of religious beliefs. If a lifestream was brought up in a particular religious culture, it can be very difficult for that lifestream to let this culture go. Yet if the lifestream could adopt the attitude that as it rises to a higher level of the spiritual path, it should naturally discard the ideas, beliefs and cultural influences of yesterday, the lifestream could spare itself much pain and discomfort. This does not necessarily mean that you have to physically distance yourself from your former culture. You can still live in such a culture and maintain your family ties. You are simply seeing through this culture to the universal spiritual path that runs behind all of the world’s religions.

In that respect it would be helpful to recognize that even if you have not grown up in a religious culture in this lifetime, your lifestream might still have certain wounds from living in rigid religious cultures in past lives. For example, while I fully understand some people’s aversion to certain religious expressions, the aversions show that such lifestreams have wounds from past lives. It would therefore be beneficial to look at these wounds, use appropriate psychological techniques to uncover the cause of them and then resolve them once and for all. As I said, by adopting the attitude that growth requires you to discard the beliefs that no longer fit, you can make this process less painful.

There are currently millions of lifestreams in the world who are in the exact same stage of development as you so beautifully describe in your letter. They have come to a point where they need to free themselves from the outer approach to religion and fully embrace the spiritual or mystical approach. Yet many of these lifestreams still have certain wounds or attachments, caused by the outer approach and the culture that springs from this approach.

It would be helpful for such lifestreams to realize that while the outer approach is not the ultimate approach to religion, it is simply a necessary part of a lifestream’s growth. In other words, there are still millions of lifestreams on earth who need the security and comfort they get from the outer approach to religion and a culture based on that approach. When you recognize this fact, you can make peace with the outer approach to religion and with the people who yet need that approach.

You can simply allow them to do what is right for them at their present level of evolution. You can then fully embrace the fact that you are no longer at that level, and therefore you do not need the outer approach or the culture based on that approach. You can then consciously work towards fully letting go of this approach and all of its beliefs and expressions. You can quickly come to a point where this culture no longer influences you. You simply believe and let believe. You allow people to be at their level of consciousness, and you fully embrace your present level of consciousness and allow your lifestream to grow independently of other lifestreams.

You see, people who take the outer approach to religion are absolutely convinced that they are right, that their religious beliefs are the only true beliefs and that all who do not believe what they believe are going to Hell. The reason being that these people need the security and comfort they get from this belief. Obviously, as you will see throughout this website, I do not agree with this belief. You will also see from the New Testament that I had moved beyond that belief myself and that I encouraged others to do the same. If my disciples had taken the outer approach to religion, they would never have become my disciples. They would have remained orthodox Jews, firmly convinced that the outer approach to religion was the only road to salvation.

My entire purpose for my website is to encourage people to move beyond the outer approach and take the inner approach. Nevertheless, I fully recognize that many lifestreams are not ready to do this. So I have no intent of exposing, confronting or ridiculing people at this level of the path. Instead, I focus on encouraging the lifestreams who are ready, giving them the tools they need to come up higher.

So again, simply accept that your lifestream has matured to a higher level of the spiritual path. Embrace that level and let go of the worn-out clothes – the beliefs and the culture – that no longer fit you.

Only true religion is the universal religion

Question: Is there only one true religion?

The answer to the question of whether there is only one true religion is: “Yes and no.”

There is only one true religion, but that religion is the universal, inner religion of God. On planet earth, there is no such thing as one true religion. There are many true religions, because there are many religions that teach elements of the universal path.

There are many ways to express the truth of God. Therefore, there can be many religions who all teach a particular version of the truth of God and of the universal path to God’s kingdom.

No religion could possibly give you a complete understanding of God. This understanding is simply beyond words. If you will think about this, you will realize why. The scriptures state that if everything that I said or did should be written down, the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. This is a slight exaggeration on the part of the author of this particular passage, nevertheless the statement does apply to the truth of God.

God has created the entire world of form, a world so vast that no human being could possibly grasp the grandeur of God’s creation. If one were to write down a complete description of all that God is, planet earth simply could not contain the books that should be written. However, it would not be possible to express in human words the totality of God’s being. The inner mysteries of God simply cannot be expressed through words.

No religion could possibly give an accurate description of God. The importance of this statement is that the only way to know God is by looking beyond the outer teachings and doctrines found in any religion. The only way to know God is to discover the universal, inner path behind the outer religion.

Why are there many religions in the world? God does not need religion. God is a self-contained spiritual being. God does not need to be worshiped, God does not need to be admired, God does not need to be feared. Therefore, God does not bring forth a particular religion because God needs that religion. God brings forth a particular religion because a particular group of people needs that religion.

Common link between the world’s religions

Question: One of the questions that is on my mind for a long time is this. It is my position that the Christ of Jesus is the Son of God. Also God is one in all his true Sons and Daughters. Therefore what is the common link between all the true Faiths of the world? The importance of this question is to deal with the conflicting ideas of God in the world’s faiths and the false teaching in Christianity that Jesus is God, creator of heaven and earth.

I have touched upon some of the topics you mention in my answer to the questions of whether Jesus Christ is the only Son of God and whether there is only one true religion.

What is the common link between the world’s religions? This can be expressed in many different ways. To me, the most universal element of all religion is to bring human beings closer to God. Human beings have forgotten their true identity and their relationship to God. True religion is meant to help them rediscover their identity through inner, intuitive or mystical experiences so that they internalize and fully accept who they are. True religion is meant to help people attain such experiences and thereby also attain a direct communion with their God.

Obviously, many orthodox religions, Christian and non-Christian, deny people their ability to commune with God. Therefore, the only way to see a link between the true faiths of the world is for people to adopt a mystical or spiritual approach to religion. As long as people are caught in the relativity of the dualistic mind, they will be more concerned about promoting the so-called uniqueness of their own religion instead of promoting the universal elements behind all religions.

The only real solution to the problems on this planet, including the conflict between religions, is that people must rise to a higher state of consciousness. I call this state of consciousness the Christ consciousness, but I have no problem with other religions using a different name.

One might also say that the common link between all true religions is a universal path that gradually leads people to attain a higher state of consciousness, whereby they overcome the relativity, the duality, the conflicts and the sense of separation that springs from the dualistic mind. One might say that the link between all religions is that there is a universal path which leads to union with God.

If you desire to see peaceful coexistence between the world’s religions, then make an effort to promote the universal path to a higher state of consciousness. Nothing else will bring peace among religious people. Peace cannot be brought about through the relativity of the dualistic mind, even if it is disguised as human goodness and tolerance.

Man was not made for the church

Question: What is the overall purpose of religion?

We of the ascended masters are the spiritual teachers of humankind. We were never forced into our current position. We chose our mission, and we did so because we love God and because we love human beings.

Human love is always conditional. People tend to project that love unto us and think that we could not possibly love certain people. Many people think that if a person has committed atrocities or crimes, we of the ascended masters could not love that lifestream. Many people even think that we could not love those who belong to another religion than their own. All of these thoughts are incorrect.

We of the ascended masters have an unconditional love for every human being on earth. Our greatest desire, our greatest love, is to reach every human being with a spiritual message and help all people anchor themselves firmly on the universal spiritual path that transcends all religions. What I am trying to say here is that we of the ascended masters do not have any loyalty to a particular religious organization. Our concern, our love, is with the individual human being.

People have often referred to me as the carpenter from Nazareth, so let me use an analogy from the world of a carpenter. A carpenter uses a saw to cut wood. To the carpenter the saw is simply a tool used to accomplish a specific task. The carpenter does not worship his saw and has no particular loyalty to that saw. If the saw gets dull, he simply sharpens the saw. If the teeth become so worn down that they can no longer be sharpened, he unceremoniously discards the saw and gets a new one.

We of the ascended masters look at religious organizations as the carpenter looks at a saw. A religious organization is simply a tool that we use in an attempt to cut through the density of the lower consciousness. If the teeth of a religious organization grow dull, we attempt to sharpen those teeth and renew the organization. If a religious organization calcifies and can no longer be renewed, we simply leave that organization behind and start a new one.

One of the most unfortunate things about spirituality is that so many human beings become attached to an outer organization. They insist that the organization must be infallible, and they do not want it to change. The reason being that if something is perfect, people think it should not have to change. This is elevating religion to an idol, and such people are literally dancing around the golden calf instead of seeking the Living Truth and the Living Word of God.

As I have explained, this is due to the dream of an automatic salvation that makes people feel that as long as they belong to that particular organization, they will inevitably be saved. I am hoping to make people see that we of the ascended masters do not share this attachment or this misguided loyalty to a particular outer organization. A religious organization is a tool. If it works for you, use it. If it no longer works for you, discard it and find a tool that works.

Consider my statement, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.” You might rephrase that as, “The church was made for man, not man for the church.”

If evil is caused by ignorance, you cannot remove evil by remaining ignorant

Question: Please explain why you say that evil is separated from God. There is Good in all things…intent is the avenue for creation. As a young student I had a hard time accepting my teacher’s warnings about the dark forces. Yet, this imposes the idea of something existing outside the mind of God, my Father/Mother. Impossible. Even as a boy I was instructed that dark energy exist as ignorance. It is ignorance manifested in the world through our own minds, Minds dwelling on false perceptions of our Sacred Self—denying the ever presence of the Father/Christ within.

You say that the truth cannot hurt, but that statement is not universally true. If a person has become emotionally attached to an idea or belief that is out of touch with truth, then it can indeed hurt emotionally when that person is presented with the truth. It can be painful for a person to acknowledge and admit that the long-held belief, which the person believed was absolutely true, has indeed been in error all along. And this causes many people to seek to avoid the pain by denying the truth that challenges their existing beliefs—as do many of the people who find this website and are not willing to know the truth about me.

When people do have emotional attachments, they often tend to go into a response that one might call the “all-or-nothing” or the “black-and-white” LINK response. If people are not willing to let go of their long-held belief and accept the truth that can replace the belief, then they have no other option than to somehow seek to refute, question or discredit the truth or the source bringing forth that truth. This causes people to take things to the extreme and look at it from a black-and-white perspective. In other words, if this new idea is true, then my existing beliefs must be completely false, and since my beliefs can’t be completely wrong, the new idea must be false. Allow me to show you an alternative response to this situation.

Let us begin by acknowledging that planet earth is a crossroads. There are many different types of lifestreams who embody on this planet. Some of these lifestreams have never rebelled against God and have no desire to rebel against God. These lifestreams are what one might call Holy or innocent lifestreams. They are lifestreams that are completely committed to good, and as a result they cannot understand how anyone could willfully rebel against God’s law and God’s intent. This makes them reluctant to accept the existence of evil or lifestreams who are committed to evil.

One might say that these lifestreams have mastered my call to become as little children. They have the innocence of a child, and it makes them approach life with the basic assumption that everything must be good. What you need to understand is that some of these lifestreams have been very shocked by the conditions found on planet earth. They carry in their inner memory the image that everything should be only good and that everything should follow God’s law. This inner memory is true as far as the spiritual realm is concerned. Unfortunately, as I explain throughout this website it is not currently true for planet earth.

Because such lifestreams are greatly shocked by the conditions on this planet, many of them go into a state of denial, in which they simply refuse to acknowledge the existence of evil on earth. This causes such lifestreams to become easy prey for the dark forces, because no one is more easily fooled than people who refuse to believe that anyone is trying to fool them. These lifestreams cannot understand my call to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. These lifestreams are naturally harmless as doves, and they believe that in a perfect universe this is all that should be needed. My friend, these lifestreams are correct. In a perfect universe, harmlessness as a dove is all that is required for your ascension. What these lifestreams do not understand is that the earth is not a perfect planet.

As Mother Mary so beautifully explains in her discourse, earth serves as a platform for people’s experiments with their free will. Even those who have never rebelled against God’s law can make mistakes when exercising their free will. This is allowed on planet earth. As a result of this tolerance for error, certain lifestreams, who deliberately rebelled against the will of God in the spiritual realm, have been allowed to embody on planet earth. These lifestreams have come to this planet with the desire to prove God wrong, as my beloved mother explains. They have created conditions on this planet that are a far cry from the original vision of God.

These rebellious beings are using their self-created conditions in a deliberate attempt to cause people to misqualify the energies of God and prevent them from ascending to the spiritual realm. In other words, there are many activities on this planet that are deliberately designed to cause people to misqualify God’s energy. One of those activities is discordant music, which forces the energies of God to flow in the opposite direction than was intended. Let me return to that later.

For now, I want to address your statement that there is good in everything and that nothing can exist outside of the Father-Mother God. When you step back from the situation on planet earth and look at the overall perspective, it is correct that nothing can exist outside of the Father-Mother God. As explained in many places on this website, everything is created from the energy of God. Therefore, God is in everything, no matter what the outer appearance. The importance of this realization is that even if something appears to be dark or evil, that outer appearance is only a temporary disguise. Behind the temporary appearance is the pure energy of God. Because the energies of God are in everything, any appearance, no matter how dark or evil, has the potential to be transformed back into the original purity of the light of God. This is indeed the very basis for the concept of salvation. If God was not in everything, nothing could be saved.

However, you need to add to this the concept of free will. As Mother Mary explains, Lucifer descended into a lower state of consciousness in which he saw himself as separated from God. In reality, this sense of separation was an illusion. Nothing can be separated from God because everything exists inside of God’s being, God’s consciousness, and everything has the energies of God inside of it. Nevertheless, when it comes to self-conscious beings that have free will, they can choose to create the illusion that they are separated from God or in opposition to God. They can then choose to create conditions that are out of alignment with the laws and the creative intent of God.

So you now see that such conditions do not have good in them. They have God in them, but they do not have good in them. As I explain throughout this website, human beings have descended into a dualistic state of mind in which everything seems relative. Therefore, they define good and evil as relative concepts. There is, however, an absolute definition of good and evil. The absolute definition of good is that which is in perfect harmony with God’s law and God’s creative intent. The absolute definition of evil is that which is out of harmony with God’s law and intent.

Something, which is out of harmony with God’s law, does not have a good in it; it does not have absolute good in it. It still has God in it, and therefore it has the potential to become realigned with God’s law. However, for that potential to become manifest, the being, or beings, who created the imperfect manifestation must make the decision to realign itself with God’s law. Until that decision is made, the imperfect condition will persist.

My point here is that there are many people on planet earth today who are committed to good but who are being manipulated by dark forces because they are not willing to become wise a serpents. They are not willing to admit that there are things on this planet that are not good and have no good in them whatsoever. These people refuse to exercise the discernment which is the hallmark of the Christ mind. The most important function of the Christ mind is to discern what is of God, meaning what is in harmony with God’s law and intent, and what is not of God.

I need these people to come out of their state of denial and acknowledge the responsibility they have to put on the mind of Christ and thereby serve God in a much higher capacity than they are now doing. It has been said that for evil to triumph, it only takes that good people do nothing, and it is true. Evil is currently dominating many aspects of life on planet earth precisely because the good people will not recognize the existence of evil and will not discern between what is of God and what is not a God. As a result, they do not take a stand for God, and therefore God cannot remove the evil conditions on planet earth. Until people choose whom they will serve, until they come apart from the manifestations of evil and be a separate and chosen people, God cannot pull up the tares without also pulling up the wheat.

You say that evil is the result of ignorance, and that is true. However, ignorance cannot be removed through more ignorance; it can be removed only by bringing the light of truth. Who can bring that light except those who are committed to God-good? Yet to displace the ignorance, you must become wise as a serpent so that you can see through the serpentine lies that have influenced and infiltrated every aspect of life on this planet.

In that respect, let me say that it is indeed true that all religions on this planet have been influenced by ignorance, and therefore they all contain false ideas and even a false culture. The entire purpose for this website is to expose the false ideas in Christianity. There can still be good in a religion because there are good people who are members of that religion. Nevertheless, it would be better for all if those good people became wise to the serpentine lies and made the effort to realign their religion to the truth of God. For that to happen, people must strive to attain the state of consciousness of the person who brought forth that religion. You cannot fully understand the teachings of a religion until you attain the level of consciousness from which the teaching was given. Only by attaining the Christ consciousness can you know the inner reality of Christianity. That is why my website seeks to encourage people to put on that Christ mind.

Defeating evil through non-attachment

Question: Please talk about the role of non-attachment in relation to evil.

Non-attachment is a concept that cannot be understood by the human intellect. It is a nonlinear concept that is beyond the linear intellect and the dualistic mind.

It is very helpful for a spiritual seeker to come to the realization that here are many spiritual concepts that simply cannot be expressed through words. The reason being that words are linear and they can easily be interpreted (or misinterpreted) by the dualistic mind. Therefore, to fully grasp – meaning internalize – a concept, you need to use the outer teachings only as a springboard for achieving an inner, intuitive experience of truth.

The meaning of this truth is that when the ascended masters give a spiritual teaching, such as the teachings I gave 2,000 years ago, it is never our intention to give an infallible statement of truth. We know full well that no teaching expressed in words can be a compete statement of truth. Truth simply cannot be expressed in words. Truth can only be experienced and internalized. One might say that you cannot know or understand truth; you can only become truth. That is why I said:

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6)

This statement is the perfect example of what I am talking about. So many Christians – trapped in the dualistic mind – have interpreted this to mean that the outer person of Jesus Christ, or the Christian religion, is the only road to salvation. The true meaning is that the Christ consciousness – which is beyond the linear, dualistic mind – is the only way to know God and God’s truth. And you can know truth only by uniting with, by becoming, that Christ mind. And no man/woman can come to the Father except by uniting with his or her Christ self.

By uniting with your Christ self, you will gradually become non-attached to the things of this world. This will not happen by you willfully repressing your desires for the things of this world. It will happen because your Christ self will help you realize that there is much more to life than the material pleasures. You will then come to desire the things of the spirit more than the things of this world.

If you compare this to my recent teaching on how to deal with evil, you might see a profound truth. Throughout the ages, so many spiritual people have believed that the world is a battleground for an epic struggle between two forces, namely good and evil. These people often think that the goal of the spiritual path is to somehow defeat evil by using spiritual force or even the weapons of the material world. Or they think that by renouncing the things of this world, they will automatically be open to the spirit.

In reality, the ultimate key – the only key – to defeating evil is non-attachment. You don’t fight evil. You simply walk away from it. You become completely non-attached to the manifestations of evil—including the idea that you have to defeat evil. Whatever the prince of this world throws at you, you refuse to engage his games. You refuse to play along, and therefore you stay clear of the epic struggle between good and evil. That is why I said:

But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. (Matthew 5:39)

Yet take note that being non-attached to evil does not mean that you ignore it. It means that you transcend it and that you help others do the same. In other words, instead of fighting it with material force, you fight it with spiritual force, meaning that you transform it into light. My point is that although there truly is an epic struggle between good and evil, the struggle exists only in the minds of beings who are trapped in the consciousness of duality.

In other words, it is the sense of struggle that creates and maintains the struggle. And the source of the sense of struggle in attachment to the things of this world. When you manifest non-attachment, you rise above the struggle between the dualistic forces of this world. You are no longer concerned about whether good or evil wins because you want God to win and you realize God is beyond the good and evil defined by the dualistic mind.

Acknowledging evil without reinforcing it

Question: Jesus, Is it true we attract to us what we feel or the vibration of it? If so how can we look at unconscious things and not be adding to it? I saw in this website that God cannot look on our wars as it would be detrimental to creatively enter that vibration. I assume we share some of God’s creative ability as he made us in his image.

An important question that touches upon the central issue on this planet. As I explain throughout this website, human lifestreams are designed to be co-creators with God. There is a constant stream of spiritual energy that flows from your I AM Presence through your lifestream. You direct that energy through your attention, even through your subconscious attention. The light streaming through your lifestream will magnify whatever it touches, so you will reinforce anything to which you give your energy. You can give energy through your subconscious attachments, such as fears or aversions.

If you send your spiritual energy into a specific form or matrix for a sufficient period of time, you create a certain amount of energy in your personal energy field, and it will begin to form a gravitational force. This will then attract similar energy to you from your surroundings, or it will create a conduit between your personal energy field and the energy field of the planet. Mother Mary explains this in greater detail in Healing Mother Earth.

The dark forces on this planet have attempted to use the facts I have just described in order to control people. They do this by attempting to manipulate people into a situation where they feel they have to take one of two extreme positions. This causes people to be damned if they do and damned if they don’t. Let me explain.

The simple fact is that you will reinforce anything into which your energy is streaming. The dark forces have set up numerous activities on this planet to cause people to react with any type of negative feeling. Whether you fear something, whether you are angry over it or whether you are taking advantage of it, you will reinforce it by giving it your energy. So whenever you react to the presence of evil with negative feelings, you are feeding that evil—even if you think your actions are combating evil.

As long as people are trapped in the consciousness of duality, they reason that the obvious alternative to reinforcing evil is to avoid putting your attention upon anything evil or imperfect. If you don’t give it any energy, you will not reinforce it, right? The problem here is that you cannot free yourself from the influence of evil by ignoring the presence of evil. That which you do not know, can and will hurt you.

So if you take the approach of ignoring or denying the existence of evil, you will be subconsciously influenced by the forces of evil on this planet. There are simply no two ways about this. If you ignore a cancerous tumor, you only allow it to grow beneath the surface.

There are many spiritual and religious people, especially in the New Age movement, who deny the reality of evil. Yet they will inevitably be influenced by imperfect beliefs in many subtle ways, so these people are actually giving energy to evil without being consciously aware of it. As I said, you can reinforce evil by giving it your conscious attention, but you can also reinforce it through your subconscious mind. And if you ignore or deny the existence of evil, dark forces will, and I mean WILL, find inroads into your subconscious mind whereby they can steal your spiritual light.

So from the dualistic state of consciousness, it truly does seem as if you are damned if you do and damned if you don’t. After all, whether you fight evil or ignore it, you are reinforcing it, so what can you? You can do what I describe throughout this website, namely rise above the dualistic state of consciousness. You can put on the mind of Christ, whereby you see beyond the dualistic extremes. This allows you to follow my call to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves (Matthew 10:16).

You have to be wise as a serpent, because you have to know that evil exists. That is the only way whereby you can avoid accepting some of the serpentine lies that have infiltrated every aspect of life on this planet. Only by seeing through the serpentine lies can you come apart from the dark forces and be a separate and chosen people.

Yet you also need to be harmless as a dove, so that you do not react to evil with negative feelings. You simply remain non-attached and undisturbed no matter what they throw at you, as I did during my temptation in the wilderness (Matthew Chapter 4). You rebuke evil and expose the lies upon which it is based without becoming emotionally involved or attached to fighting evil.

You, of your own self, can do nothing to remove evil, as Archangel Michael explains. However, you can make the enlightened calls that authorize the ascended masters to fight evil on your behalf. When you are wise as a serpent and harmless as a dove, you can allow God in you to consume evil instead of trying to fight it with the outer mind.

It is correct that God in the highest sense does not look upon the imperfections on earth because God’s creative power would accelerate whatever it is placed upon. However, this does not mean that God would reinforce evil or make it permanent. If God’s attention was focused on an imperfect form, the immense creative power of God would literally accelerate the vibration of the energy, causing the form to be erased, whereby the energy would be returned to its original purity. That is why the Bible says that our God is a consuming fire which consumes all unlike itself.

Yet there are indeed representatives of God, individualizations of God, who can look upon the imperfections on earth without magnifying them or consuming them. These beings are called the ascended masters, and it is our job to help our unascended brothers and sisters gradually separate themselves out from the serpentine lies and the imperfections found on this planet.

Why doesn’t God simply consume these imperfections and get it over with? Because that would be a violation of God’s own Law of Free Will. God gave human lifestreams free will, and thereby they have a right to experiment with imperfections on a temporary basis. God gives them time to reach the conclusion that violating God’s laws is ultimately not in their own best interest. He even sends the ascended masters to serve as spiritual teachers and help people learn that lesson.

So one might say that God in the highest sense simply withdrew from planet earth after the fall of humankind. God is not looking upon the imperfections on this planet, but God’s representatives are indeed looking and seeking to help human beings rise above the lies that feed evil. As I said, the essential key to rising above all imperfections is to be wise as serpents, so that you can consciously choose to separate yourself from the imperfection, and also be harmless as a dove, so that you can voluntarily and with no regrets leave behind the imperfections. What is that to thee, follow thou me (John 21:22).

We of the ascended masters have the power to remove all evil from this planet. However, we cannot do so until a critical mass of people separate themselves from evil. You cannot separate yourself from evil without seeing through the lies of evil. And you cannot see through the lies without looking at them. So the key is to look with Christ discernment and then choose to transcend the very consciousness that is the origin of evil: the duality consciousness.

Question: Absolute evil – does it exist?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

The short answer is that absolute evil does exist but only temporarily. In other words, absolute evil has no absolute or permanent existence.

The key to understanding this mystery, which has confused numerous seekers over the ages, is to understand the two basic forces of creation, namely the yin and yang, or the masculine and feminine. Everything is created through an interaction of two forces. The important point in this context is to understand that the two basic forces of creation are not in opposition to each other. The two basic forces are complementary, meaning that they do not have opposite or mutually exclusive qualities. Instead, they have complementary qualities. They are two sides of the same coin, and they supplement each other.

Some religions teach that God forms one polarity which is good and that there must be another polarity which is the opposite of God, namely absolute evil. These religions tend to make it seem like evil is just as necessary as good and that only the interaction of the two forces will create a world. This is a very subtle, and for some people very pervasive, idea but I must tell you that it is a lie. In fact it is an absolute lie perpetrated by absolute evil.

When God created this universe, God defined a set of principles, or laws, that guide the evolution of this world. Certain beings decided to rebel against not only God’s laws but also God’s intent to create the universe. Therefore, these beings set themselves apart from God and God’s creation. The essential understanding is that when you rebel against God’s law and set yourself apart from God, you do not create something that forms an opposite polarity of God. In other words, evil has not suddenly become a necessary part of creation.

God’s creation evolves through a harmonious interaction of the two complementary forces, namely the active and passive, the masculine and feminine. Neither of these forces are evil. Both of these forces are absolute good and they are not in opposition to each other or to the basic purpose of creation.

Absolute evil, therefore, is a force that has set itself apart from and stepped outside of the basic polarity that creates the universe. Absolute evil is a force made of beings who have said, “We want no part of God’s creation.”

What you need to understand is that evil can never form a polarity with God. Everything is created by an interaction of two polarities. When they come together, they do not oppose each other or cancel each other out. Instead they complement each other and through their harmonious union create something that is different, that is more, than the original state.

What the beings who rebelled against God have done is enter into the consciousness of separation, in which there is always a set of two dualistic polarities. Thus, they have created a false polarity, that is different from the original yin-yang polarity of God. These polarities are indeed mutually exclusive and can only fight each other—they can never be complementary and create something new. What most people call good and evil are these relative polarities created through the mind of anti-christ. Meaning that what most people call good is also a product of anti-christ.

If you were to take absolute good and put it together with absolute evil, there would not be creation. Absolute good and absolute evil are not complementary forces; they are mutually exclusive. If you put the two together, absolute evil will disappear instantly, as the darkness disappears when you turn on the light in a room. Absolute evil is simply an absence of absolute good, and therefore it has no existence of its own. It cannot continue to exist in the presence of absolute good.

When certain beings rebelled against God’s law, they mentally stepped outside of God’s universe. They cut themselves off from God, and therefore they no longer receive energy directly from God inside themselves. This is not because God hates these beings or wants to punish them. God simply defined laws for how a being with free will receives energy. When you violate those laws, when you refuse to plug your light into the socket, you can no longer receive the energy.

So what has happened is that certain spiritual beings cut themselves off from God. These beings cannot receive energy directly from God, yet they cannot continue to exist forever on their own energy. In other words, when these beings cut themselves off from God, they had a certain amount of God’s energy. God did not take that energy away from them but allowed these beings to create their own sense of being apart from God. These beings could create their own internal world, but they could only use the energy they had at the beginning. They could not receive more without coming back into alignment with God’s law and vision.

So when the rebellious lifestreams started running out of energy, they had to find a way to steal energy from those who can still receive energy directly from God. Unfortunately, the inhabitants of planet earth had descended into a lower state of consciousness, and this allowed certain dark beings an inroad into this planet and into the consciousness of humankind. The dark beings have since then created numerous schemes designed to cause human beings to misqualify the pure energies of God so that the dark beings can steal the energy and continue to exist. The dark beings are like vampires that suck the lifeblood, God’s energy, from human beings.

In their attempt to gain control over the inhabitants of earth, the dark beings have used many clever schemes. As part of this effort, they have created a number of philosophies that seem to justify their existence. One of these philosophies is the idea that since everything must have an opposite, there must be something in opposition to God. Therefore, absolute evil must be a necessary part of creation as the opposite polarity of absolute good. As I have attempted to explain above, this is a lie.

Absolute evil does not form a polarity with absolute good. Absolute evil is not a necessary part of God’s creation. Absolute evil is a consequence of the fact that God gave all of its sons and daughters the gift of free will. When you have free will, you can take one of two approaches. You can recognize the fact that in order to create anything that is sustainable, God must define certain laws which insure the sustainability of the universe. You can realize that these laws are not a restriction of your freedom. Therefore, you can choose to exercise your free will within the context of God’s laws. This has two advantages. By following God’s law, you have the security that you will always have a stable platform for your creative expression. In other words, you cannot suddenly do something that will destroy yourself or the entire universe. At the same time, you still have unlimited opportunity to express your individuality and creativity within the context of God’s law.

The other option you have as a consequence of free will is that you can choose to completely and absolutely rebel against not only God’s law but God’s intent to create. Because God has given you free will, God allows you to make that choice. However, consider the mechanics of making that choice. You are essentially saying to God, “I will have nothing to do with you.” Because God respects his own Law of Free Will, God will not only allow you to make that choice, but God will also take the consequence of that choice. The consequence is that God will leave you alone, and when God leaves you alone, you are completely cut off from God.

God will never violate your free will. In other words, when you have cut yourself off from God, you will remain cut off from God indefinitely, unless you change your original choice and say, “God, I want to come home.” Contrary to how certain dark forces have portrayed God, namely as an angry and judgmental Being, God has no anger and no judgment of dark forces. Such beings can, at any moment, choose to change their original rebellion against God. The moment they express their sincere intent of coming back to God, at that moment God would be perfectly willing to help them do so.

Unfortunately, when a lifestream cuts itself off from God, it inevitably begins to build an image of God that is out of touch with the divine reality. Therefore, such beings cannot understand or accept the unconditional love of God. They project their own qualities of conditionality, relativity, anger and judgment upon God. Therefore, they do not fully accept that they have the option of coming back to God. As a result, they continue to attempt to justify their original decision to turn away from God. In doing so dark forces also attempt to make human beings accept that evil is a necessary part of creation. They want to make human beings accept that absolute evil is as vital for creation as absolute good, and therefore it is acceptable to align yourself with absolute evil.

Many lifestreams on planet earth are fooled by these subtle lies. This is not because these lifestreams are evil, or because they have rebelled against God. It is largely because most people on planet earth have descended into the dualistic state of consciousness in which they do not understand God, especially the unconditional love of God. Therefore, many lifestreams do not believe that they are worthy of God’s love. They think God is angry with them and that God will judge them harshly. They think they are sinners who are not worthy of coming back to God. Therefore, if you are not worthy to come back to God anyway, why not simply align yourself with the dark forces who tell you that it is actually OK to do whatever you want and that God’s law is a restriction of your freedom.

When I walked the earth 2,000 years ago, I made an extremely important remark [quoted from Proverbs 16:25]. I said, “There is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof is the way of death.” The dark beings have attempted to promote the idea that the world is created from two opposite forces, namely absolute good and absolute evil. They have attempted to create the impression that there are two viable roads and that both roads lead to the same end result. In other words, the true goal is to get back to union with God, but you can attain that goal in two different ways. You can choose the high road or the low road, and these dark forces want you to believe that both roads ultimately lead to the same result. This is another subtle and pervasive lie.

When you align yourself with absolute good and express your free will within the context of God’s law, God will give you more life, more energy. This is expressed in the parable of the talents. The servant who had multiplied his talents was given more in return. If you align yourself with absolute evil, then God will respect your free will and leave you alone. The result is that you will not receive more energy from God. Therefore, you will gradually spend the energy that you have. Eventually, you will run out of energy and there will be nothing left. There will be no more energy, and therefore there will be no more you. You will simply disappear. Your lifestream will be erased as if it never existed.

Right now the dark forces can argue that by using black magic you can gain power and energy. This is true because there are still many human beings on planet earth who are receiving energy directly from God. In other words, there is still energy which can be perverted by black magic and therefore stolen by dark forces. However, if this perversion of energy continues until it reaches a critical mass, then the entire planet could be cut off from God’s energy. At that point there would be no more energy coming from God, and therefore the planet and all dark forces upon it would quickly self-destruct.

When God created this universe, he made you a promise. He promised you that if you would align yourself with his laws, he would guarantee you a stable platform for your creative expression. It all goes back to the old question, “Choose ye this day whom ye will serve.” Will you serve absolute good and therefore attain life and absolute reality? Or will you serve absolute evil and therefore ultimately self-destruct?

How to deal with evil

Question: How does Jesus want people to deal with evil?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

When I appeared 2,000 years ago, I told my followers to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. You must be wise as serpents so that you can see through the lies and the manipulations that pollute every aspect of life on this planet. You must be wise as serpents so that you can avoid being pulled into the downward spiral that the serpents have created on earth. You must understand that the lifestreams of these serpents are in a state of consciousness that is dominated by the ultimate denial.

They are denying God, they are denying themselves (their divine selves) and they are denying themselves as individualizations of God. Therefore, they live in a state of consciousness that is the ultimate spiritual blindness. They do not recognize the law of cause and effect, the law of karma. They do not recognize that they have created a downward spiral which will inevitably lead to their own destruction.

The serpents have descended into such a low state of consciousness that even a cosmic being like myself finds it virtually impossible to reach them. You will recall that after my crucifixion I descended to hell and spent three days preaching to the lifestreams who were trapped there. Hell is more than anything a state of consciousness. I was sent to these lifestreams in an attempt to appeal to those who had confined themselves to this level of consciousness. I must tell you frankly that I had little success in terms of reaching these lifestreams.

Yet, I will tell you that it is not a hopeless calling. As recorded in the Bible, a large number of beings fell with Lucifer. Many of them have since made a better decision and have started to climb back to our Father’s kingdom. Some of them have indeed made it all the way home. Yet, I must also tell you that those who remain are very difficult to reach. Therefore, I do not advise you to spend your time and energy in an attempt to help those who are not willing to help themselves.

Instead, I advise you to become wise to the ways of the serpents, so that you can avoid being pulled into their negative spiral. The idea of coming apart and being a separate and chosen people is based on the idea of the tares that are sown among the wheat. As long as the two are mixed together, God cannot pull out the tares without risking to pull out the wheat. Yet, if the wheat, meaning those whose dare to recognize themselves as sons and daughters of God, will separate themselves out from those in a lower state of consciousness, then God can indeed remove some of these lifestreams from planet earth. God can send them to a different place where they can receive yet another opportunity to make the choice to start the journey home.

How do you become a member of God’s separate and chosen people? I have already told you what it takes to be chosen (see Christhood section). You must choose to answer the call to manifest personal Christhood. You must choose to accept God’s calling.

Coming apart means more than anything else the coming apart in consciousness. You must make a concerted efforts to rise above the dualistic mind on a personal level. You must also make an effort to see through the lies and the manipulations that are spread throughout this planet by those who are seeking to ensnare you and drag you into their own self-created hell on earth. By reaching for Christ consciousness, you can quickly become wise to the ways of the serpents. At the same time, you can fulfill the second part of my command, namely to be harmless as doves.

When you attain a certain measure of Christ consciousness, you clearly discern what is of God and what is not of God. Therefore, you can simply leave behind that which is not of God. We have now come to a crucial point which has tripped up many sincere Christians (and many other religious people) throughout the ages. The question is: “How can you remove evil from planet earth?”

Many people start life as being not particularly religious. Then, they experience a conversion or awakening, and afterwards they are filled with a great (sometimes all-consuming) religious fervor or zeal. This zeal springs from a true desire to do God’s will and to help bring God’s kingdom to earth. Yet, if this zeal is not tempered by the harmlessness of the dove, it all too easily becomes perverted by the subtle logic of the serpents themselves. The modus operandi of the fallen angels who rebelled against God is that the end can justify the means. This is a completely false concept that has nothing whatsoever to do with God.

In heaven, the end can never justify the means. Yet, many religious people become so enthralled by the idea of fighting evil that they suddenly become willing to violate God’s law in order to bring his kingdom to earth. These religious people look at the many horrendous things that are happening on planet earth, and they somehow reason that if only they can remove the evil, then God’s kingdom will automatically appear. This is the false reasoning that springs from the dualistic mind.

You simply cannot remove evil from planet earth. To understand why, go into a room at night and turn off the light. You are now in a dark room. I want you to consider how you could possibly remove the darkness from that room? Could you put the darkness into bags and throw it out the window? Obviously, this would not work and the reason is that darkness has no substance and no reality whatsoever. Darkness is the absence of light. Bring light, and the darkness disappears.

When you look back at human history, you see that more atrocities have been committed in the name of religion than as the result of any other single cause. I must tell you that all of these atrocities were against the will and the intention of God. There is no such thing as a holy war. God loves religious fervor, but God does not want that fervor to be turned into fanaticism.

All battles, whether they resulted in bloodshed or were fought with other weapons, that were fought by religious people in an attempt to remove this or that darkness from planet earth have done nothing to bring about God’s kingdom. Yes, I realize this is a very radical statement that will offend many people. Nevertheless, I must tell you the truth. The simple fact is that if you fight evil, you are attempting to remove the darkness. I realize that to many people on earth, evil can seem very real. Yet, it only seems real because you look at it through the filter of the dualistic mind.

If you truly desire to bring God’s kingdom to earth, then you must focus your attention on bringing the light of the Christ consciousness. You must not allow yourself to be caught in the trap of attempting to remove evil. Simply focus on bringing light, and that light will eventually consume evil. Our God is a consuming fire. Yet, because of free will, God can only consume the darkness on earth when some of the people on earth allow themselves to become the open doors for God’s consuming fire. To become the open door for God’s fire, you must put on personal Christhood.

Let me make it clear here that I am not thereby saying that I want my followers to ignore everything that is wrong on this planet. Obviously, I want my followers to speak out against anything that is not of God. However, how can you speak out against what is not of God until you have attained a certain measure of Christ consciousness and thereby achieved the inner discernment that tells you what is of God and what is not of God?

My point here is that too many religious people allow themselves to think that they can actually do God’s work while they are still trapped by the dualistic mind. As a result, these people all too often select a scapegoat or decide that another group of people is the enemy. Such people reason that the main problem on earth is another group of people. Therefore, it becomes their religious duty to force these people to change their ways. If these people refuse to change, they must be eliminated. This is precisely the line of reasoning that caused Adolf Hitler to kill 6 million Jews in concentration camps. It is precisely this line of reasoning that caused a group of people to fly airplanes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. It is precisely this line of reasoning that has caused more bloodshed than any other single factor seen on planet earth.

When you attain Christ consciousness, you attain the wisdom and discernment to see through the lies of the serpents. Yet, at the same time you also attain a total commitment to the will and the perfection of God. Thereby, you become non-attached to the things of this world.

This non-attachment is what I called the harmlessness of doves. When you are non-attached to the things of this world, you clearly see the folly of the idea that the ends can justify the means. You clearly realize that the only way to bring God’s kingdom to earth is through God’s own law. Seeking to bring God’s kingdom through means that are against God’s law simply will not work.

The most basic law of God is the law of love. I preached that law when I appeared on earth. Every aspect of my teaching is permeated by the law of love. Why do you think I told you to do unto others as you would have them do unto you? Why do you think I told you to love your neighbor as yourself? Why do you think every other true religion on planet earth preaches that very same message? It is because love is the very essence of God’s being. God is love. God is unconditional love.

The only way to bring God’s kingdom to earth is through unconditional love. Hatred and fanaticism simply will not do the trick. To bring God’s kingdom, you must embody God’s love. There is no other way. The many other ways that people follow are the ways that seem right unto a human (who is caught in the dualistic mind), yet the end thereof is the way of death (the way of those who deny God and their own Divinity).

I want you to be an instrument for bringing God’s kingdom to earth. However, to be such an instrument you must overcome the dualistic mind and its tendency to see other people as enemies. You must treat everyone with love.

There is nothing wrong with using your Christ discernment, as long as you are certain that it is Christ discernment, to expose an idea or belief that is not of God. I very much want my followers to be the open door through which the truth of God can be brought to the people of earth. I want my followers to bring truth to planet earth and thereby expose the many subtle lies of the serpents in your midst.

Yet, in bringing truth, you do not have to fight lies and you do not have to fight other people. You simply bring the truth, and then you leave it up to other people to make their free-will decisions as to how they will respond to that truth.

My point here is that the ultimate law of this universe is free will. If you love your neighbor as yourself, you will not violate your neighbor’s free will. You will give him or her the truth as you see it, but you will be completely non-attached to his or her response. You will allow your neighbor to make his or her own choices.

This is what God has done for you, and you must do the same for everyone else. What I am saying here is that you cannot bring God’s kingdom to earth by violating the free will of another human being. If God’s kingdom is to appear on earth, it must appear as the result of choices made by human beings. I am not thereby saying that every human being on earth needs to reach Christ consciousness and make the conscious choice to bring in God’s kingdom. God’s kingdom can indeed be brought to earth through a relatively small number of human beings who reach a certain measure of personal Christhood. Nevertheless, the very key to bringing God’s kingdom to earth is free will. If you want to help bring that kingdom to earth, then you must begin by developing an uncompromising respect for the free will of your brothers and sisters.

The serpents on earth have absolutely no respect for the free will of another human being. That is why those who consider themselves to be the servants of God must develop an uncompromising respect for the free will of another. Free will is a very interesting concept. A teacher cannot learn a lesson for the student. Likewise, no human being can make choices for another. Yes, you can force or manipulate someone into doing what you want them to do. But you cannot force them into doing so as the result of a free choice. You cannot force any human being to make a free choice (if you did it would not be free).

You can manipulate people into thinking that they only have certain options. Most people make choices based on incorrect or incomplete information about their options. Yet, if you do so, you are preventing them from making a free choice. Making a choice is a process that takes place inside the psyche of the individual.

Yet, most people on earth are not in a state of consciousness that allows them to make a free choice. They are so enveloped in the dualistic mind that all of the options they see are affected by the relativity of the dualistic mind. To make a truly free choice, the lifestream must be able to see beyond the dualistic mind. That higher vision can only come about through the Christ consciousness.

If you feel a desire to help bring truth to earth, start by making a very determined effort to attain personal Christhood. By doing so, you can give people an opportunity to choose between the truth of God and the lies of the dualistic mind. Truth is not simply a matter of making a true statement. Truth is a matter of vibration.

Despite the manipulation happening on earth, every human being has the potential to make the choice to reach for something higher. No matter how far a person has descended into the levels of the dualistic mind, the consciousness of hell, a lifestream can at any moment make the choice to reach for something higher. Not even the most clever and forceful fallen angels can take that potential away from the lifestream.

The potential of making a better choice is truly the hope for this world. If you consider yourself to be one of my true followers, then you must respect everyone’s free will. You must also hold the vision that the lifestream could, of its own free-will choosing, elect to reach for something higher. You must make it your life’s goal to inspire people to make that choice without attempting to force them in any way. I want you to offer everyone you meet a cup of cold water in Christ’s name. And then I want you to leave it up to them whether or not they will choose to drink.

I have a very good reason for making this request. You see, if you seek to force someone to drink, then you will make personal karma by doing so. If you leave the choice up to them, you have done what is required of you, and therefore you will make positive karma for yourself. If they reject the truth, then they will make negative karma, but that truly is none of your concern. Why do you think I told people to turn the other cheek? It is impossible to understand this command without understanding the law of karma.

You see, if someone harms you, that person inevitably makes karma. This is simply a law of God. Unfortunately, most people who are harmed by another react with anger and they often seek revenge. In manifesting this negative reaction, they make personal karma. Thereby, you might start a negative karmic spiral with the other person, and such negative spirals have led to family feuds or even wars between nations. Because of the law of karma, you have absolutely no need to seek revenge. Vengeance is mine saith the lord, I WILL repay. Through the law of karma, God has made sure that no human being could ever escape the consequences of his or her actions.

If someone harms you, that person has already made karma. Simply leave it up to God to return that karma to the person. God is perfectly capable of handling that side of the equation. What should be your concern is to make sure that you do not react in such a way that you create karma for yourself. The only way through which you can avoid making personal karma as the result of someone harming you is to remain completely non-attached. By remaining harmless as a dove, by responding with love and forgiveness, you will avoid making personal karma. Thereby, you will avoid entering a negative spiral that will pull you down.

I must tell you that for thousands of years the serpents in this world have attempted to pull all other people into their self-created downward spiral. They have done so by harming the innocent and thereby seeking to make the innocent sons and daughters of God respond with anger or other negative feelings. Because so many people were caught in the dualistic mind, it has been so easy for the serpents to make them respond negatively. Therefore, most people are today so heavily involved with these karmic spirals that they simply cannot free themselves to pursue the path of personal Christhood.

When I come to such lifestreams at inner levels to offer them my path, they are so attached to their feelings of anger, resentment or revenge that they simply cannot let go and follow me. When I say: “What is that to thee; follow thou me” they have no idea what I mean.

If you consider yourself one of my true followers, I want you to carefully contemplate these ideas. I need you to extricate yourself from all entanglement with the serpents of this world, with their institutions of power and with their self-created hell on earth. I need you to stop fighting for causes that are not of God. I need you to achieve the discernment that allows you to see the just causes for which you need to fight. Do not allow yourself to be pulled into a battle in which neither side is fighting for a just cause.

First of all, I need you to extricate yourself from the consciousness of anger and revenge. Let go of your attachments to this or that injustice.
Why do you think I told people to forgive seventy times seven? The reason is that forgiveness, total and unconditional forgiveness, is the very key to your personal freedom. If you will consider how I and my brothers and sisters in heaven treat each other, I am sure you will realize that we do not hold grudges. Spiritual beings are not above making mistakes. However, in heaven forgiveness of one’s mistakes is instantaneous.

What I am telling you is that you simply cannot enter the kingdom of heaven until you have forgiven everyone, including God and yourself. Forgiveness is the key to personal freedom. If you have not forgiven another, then you are maintaining a karmic tie to that person. If that other person happens to be a fallen angel who is absolutely determined to go to hell, then that person will pull you down. Why on earth would you want to maintain a karmic tie to someone who is hell-bent on going to hell?

Do you not see that it is in your own best interest to quickly remove all such ties? Do you not see that the very key to removing such ties is to practice total and unconditional forgiveness?

What keeps evil alive

Question: Why is there still evil in the world?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

Let me return to another question: “Why is there evil in the world?” In the answer to that question, I told you how evil originated. Let me expand my question as follows: “Why is there still evil in the world?”

The foremost reason why there is still evil on earth is that those who consider themselves to be spiritual and religious people have not made the choice to practice complete and unconditional forgiveness towards everyone.

If people were to begin to practice such unconditional forgiveness, they would immediately begin to come apart and be a separate and chosen people. The good and sincere lifestreams on earth would separate themselves from those lifestreams who are deliberately and intentionally working against God’s purposes. If that separation were to happen, God could and would remove the serpents from the earth.

Let me give you a mental image of how this works. Planet earth, as you know it today, is very far away from God’s original intention and design. Planet earth has become a crossroads, a kind of spiritual melting pot, and the Karmic Board has allowed many different types of lifestreams to embody on this planet. The reason why this was allowed was that the original inhabitants of this planet had descended into a very low state of consciousness.

When you look at planet earth today, you see a wide variety of lifestreams that have come from many different backgrounds and are manifesting many different levels of consciousness. I do not like the idea that people are comparing themselves to others and judging who is better than who. In heaven there are no favorite sons. Therefore, I do not want you to misuse what I am now telling you. I do not want you to point the finger at any other human being.

The simple fact is that people on earth are at many different levels of consciousness. Therefore, you can put people on a scale depending on their level of consciousness. At the top of this scale you find those who have achieved the highest degree of personal Christhood. At the bottom of this scale you find those who have descended into a state of consciousness that is dominated by absolute denial of themselves as sons and daughters of God. There is a wide range between those at the top and those at the bottom of the scale. The majority of the people on earth fit somewhere in between the two extremes.

You must understand that there are levels of consciousness both above and below what is currently manifest on earth. In other words there are indeed lower levels of consciousness than what you see on earth (I know this might seem impossible, but my Father’s house has many mansions).

We of the ascended masters clearly see that the general population on earth are in a very difficult situation. Because of their ignorance, which is largely due to the manipulation of a small power elite, they have very limited opportunities for spiritual growth. We of the ascended masters clearly see that humankind at large are being pulled down by the lowest 10% of the lifestreams that are embodied on earth.

We also realize that the only way to effectively change this equation is that the lowest 10% of lifestreams must be removed from this planet. These lifestreams have had a very long time to embody on this planet. So far, they have not chosen to change their ways and walk the spiritual path. Given the fact that they have been here for so long, it is unlikely that they will do so any time soon. It it far more likely that they will drag the rest of humanity down with them. Therefore, it is our desire to see these lifestreams be removed to another world in which almost everyone is at that same low level of consciousness.

However, the key to bringing about this change is the top 10% of the lifestreams that currently embody on planet earth. The simple fact is that these lifestreams must choose to raise their level of consciousness. You might recall that I said to my Father in heaven: “If I be lifted up, I will draw all men onto me.” The simple fact is that all people on earth are interconnected in consciousness. If one person raises his or her consciousness, it will pull everybody else up.

Of course, people will only be raised up if they choose to follow the magnetic pull that calls them to come up higher. If they choose to go against that pull, they will not be raised up. Yet, if a sufficient number of people on earth reached a certain level of Christhood, then those who refuse to be lifted up in consciousness simply can no longer embody on this planet. By their refusal to come up higher in consciousness, they will effectively condemn themselves from this planet, and they will descend to another world according to their state of consciousness. This is exactly what happened when lifestreams descended from a previous sphere.

My point is that all people who consider themselves to be spiritual or religious people must make a determined effort to raise their level of consciousness. As I have said many times, people must decide to walk the path to personal Christhood. However, I hope you can now see that the essential key to starting the path of personal Christhood is to practice complete and unconditional forgiveness towards every part of life.

Forgive thy neighbor.

Forgive thyself.

Forgive thy God.

For-give, meaning “for-go” or give away, the consciousness of anger, resentment and revenge. Simply let go of that state of consciousness and allow God’s unconditional love to take it away from you as if it never even existed. Our God is a consuming fire. Allow that fire to consume everything in your consciousness that stands between you and your personal Christhood.

Simply leave your nets of karmic entanglements and follow me, the Living Christ. Withhold nothing from me, and I will withhold nothing from you.

Evil is the result of choice

Question: Why is there evil in the world?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

The concept of evil has caused much confusion, not only among Christians, but also among spiritually interested people all over the world. The main reason behind all this confusion is the widespread denial of the importance of free will.

In the answers to other questions, I talk about a power elite that is seeking absolute control over the people. This elite will do anything to spread false beliefs, through religion or science, stating that free will either does not exist or is not important. What this power elite is trying to do is to make you deny your God-given potential to manifest Christhood on earth.

If you deny the existence of free will, then it becomes exceedingly difficult to explain the obvious fact that there is evil on this planet. If you are a scientific materialist, you have virtually no explanation for evil, so most of these people tend to ignore it. I might add here that ignoring a cancerous tumor is not the best way to deal with it.

If you are a religious person, then you end up having to come up with a series of contrived arguments that somehow seek to deal with the problem that if human beings do not have free will, then God must have created evil. For most people, the idea that God has created evil just doesn’t sound right. It doesn’t sound right, because it isn’t right.

The reality of the matter is that God has not created evil. Contrary to what some religions teach, evil is not the polar opposite of God. God is a completely self-contained being and God has no opposite. I have earlier told you that when God starts creating the world of form, God creates two polarities, as illustrated in the Taoist symbol called the Tai-Chi. Nevertheless, evil does not form the polar opposite of God, and it does not even form the polar opposite of good.
