Jesus’ physical appearance was a reflection of his true teachings

TOPICS: Scholars don’t agree on anything – the disagreement about facts keeps people from forming a closed mental box – Jesus was not dark skinned – Jesus had a universal appearance –

Question: Though this question may not seem important to many because it is purely historical and not spiritual, though it can clear some misunderstanding arising from different views. What was your true skin color? Some say Jesus was born where there are no white-skinned people, others even insist he was of Arab descent, which is true.

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

If you care to study the discussions among historians and biblical scholars, you will discover an interesting phenomenon. There is absolutely no aspect of my life and mission about which there is universal agreement. No matter what you might say about me, there will be some who say it is not true. There are indeed some who say I did not exist as a historical figure.

While it might seem surprising to some, I am actually not unhappy with this state of affairs. It is not my desire to release to humankind a complete historical record of my life and mission in Galilee. The reason is that if such a complete record was given, people would quickly turn it into a graven image. They would use it to create a mental box and they would put me inside that mental box forever. Which means that their minds would now be closed to a higher understanding of who I really am, why I came back then and why I am here today.

Part of my mission was to show people that there is a true way to salvation, and this way goes beyond the mental boxes that people have created—the way that seems right unto a human. Therefore, the fact that there is so much disagreement about the historical facts, serves the function of keeping at least some people from solidifying their mental images of me. This actually helps open many people’s minds to a new understanding of my true teachings.

Let me make a very clear statement. Whatever image you could possibly create of me, whether it be the way I was 2,000 years ago or the way I am today, I will always be more than your image. You cannot capture me any more than you can capture a rainbow. If you keep running after the fleeting images of the rainbow, you will not find a pot of gold. You will one day realize that you have wasted your life running after phantoms instead of using your time to internalize my true teachings and thereby reach Christ consciousness.

Having said that, my skin color was lighter than the average Jew. My hair color was medium blond to dark blond, tinged with red. I did not have the typical facial features of a Jew or an Arab, and I was not of Arab descent. I had a physical appearance that was as universal or neutral when it comes to race as it is possible to get. My physical appearance was a reflection of my true teachings. They were as neutral when it comes to religion as it was possible to get at the time. Would that more people would look beyond the mental boxes of my teachings that have been created by orthodox Christianity and look for the true universal path that leads them to Christ consciousness instead of chasing the man-made rainbows.

Yet even my true universal teachings are but a rainbow compared to the Living Truth of God. Nevertheless, if you do chase that rainbow, you might one day find the pot of gold—but only if you look for it in the kingdom of God that is within you.

A name often carries the vibration of a person

TOPICS: Mother Mary called Jesus “yesuh” – a name carries the vibration of a person – Jesus is the official name – Peter – why a person chooses to embody in a Catholic setting – overcoming fear –

Question: So just to get this straight you go by Master Jesus. but in all essene literature you are referred to in aramaic as eesho or eeshu oshu or ‘shu. Yeshua is the hebrew derivative of the aramaic eesho. So the question is what did your mom call you by what name like your friends and family?

I was named Steven, so that is my name, so lets do this we are both 21 we meet by on the road i say hi my name is Steven Perry and I’m from Saint John in Canada and then you would say-

Your Mom called you YESUH. So it wasn’t Yeshu, Yeshua or Eesho or Eesa? So your mom named you YESUH. So what would your ID say if you had one back then.

Master Jesus, you give me the most headaches.

I must owe a heavy debt to you for you are that which I try to learn from but I do have my human failings. I will not stop seeking you and your teachings that you taught while you were in incarnation.

For it seems to be ordained that I must do so. It has always bothered me why I incarnated into the Catholic Church and this family. I have never liked Christianity and doubt I ever will. It does not reflect the true teachings of you therefore I will have nothing to do with it.

Like Master Yoda said Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate and hate leads to suffering.

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

Would you mind participating in an experiment? Go to the library or the internet and look up ten different names for “milk” from various languages.
Then pour yourself a glass of milk. Look at the list and consider the following question: “Will the name you choose for the milk affect its ability to quench your thirst?” I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. I will quench your thirst for truth no matter what you call me.

My Mother used to call me “yesuh” and pronounced it with a sweetness that no modern spelling or pronunciation could ever imitate.

“I was named Steven, so that is my name, so lets do this we are both 21 we meet by on the road i say hi my name is Steven Perry and I’m from Saint John in Canada and then you would say”

I would say: “I am Jesus Christ (if you use the English version of your name, I will use the English version of mine). I am a son of God and I live in my Father’s eternal kingdom. Are you sure there isn’t more to your identity than what you just told me?

“Your Mom called you YESUH. So it wasn’t Yeshu, Yeshua or Eesho or Eesa? So your mom named you YESUH. So what would your ID say if you had one back then.”

Yesuh was a nickname used by my mother. My formal name could more correctly be translated as Yeshua. However, what is in a name? A name often carries the vibration of a person. Though some modern Christians prefer to use the name Yeshua or Joshua, I would personally prefer that everyone would use the name Jesus. Jesus is the most widely recognized name for me, and it does carry my vibration.

I gave all my disciples a spiritual name that in most cases was different from their given names. This spiritual name carried the potential which that disciple was meant to outpicture. For example, Peter means the rock and signifies that Peter had the potential to become a solid foundation for the Christian movement. Unfortunately, by denying me three times, Peter did not live up to his potential.

“Master Jesus, you give me the most headaches.”

I give you headaches because you are spending too much time thinking and intellectualizing about me instead of going within your heart and experiencing my Presence with you. Your lifestream has a deep inner connection with me, but you are trying to fulfill your lifestream’s longing through the intellect, and it simply cannot be done. When you decide that you have had enough of this, use the tools on this website to find me inside your heart.

“I must owe a heavy debt to you for you are that which I try to learn from but I do have my human failings. I will not stop seeking you and your teachings that you taught while you were in incarnation.”

You owe me nothing, but you owe it to yourself to discover my true teachings, not only as I taught them back then but as I teach them today. Your inner drive is because your lifestream knows that you have the potential in this lifetime to manifest your Christhood. That is indeed the message on this website and especially in the book Master Keys to Personal Christhood. Do not let your human failings discourage you from following this path. The only thing that can hold you back is that which you decide is holding you back.

“For it seems to be ordained that I must do so. It has always bothered me why I incarnated into the Catholic Church and this family. I have never liked Christianity and doubt I ever will. It does not reflect the true teachings of you therefore I will have nothing to do with it.”

Many lifestreams have, in prior lifetimes, been deeply hurt by orthodox Christianity. These lifestreams have come into their present lifetime with a strong intuitive sense that there is something missing from orthodox Christianity.

These lifestreams have often chosen to embody in a Christian culture so that they could receive an opportunity to look beyond the outer, or orthodox, teachings and discover my true inner teachings.

Your lifestream has chosen to do this not simply for your own sake. You have chosen to do this because by growing up in a Christian culture, yet transcending that culture and discovering my true inner teachings, you can help those people who are still trapped in that culture.

It is precisely people who are willing to go through this process that are my best hope for bringing about a world-wide awakening that will empower millions of people to discover and embody my true, inner teachings. Simply let go of your regrets over being born in this circumstance and embrace the opportunity to grow personally and then seek to help others like you.

“Like Master Yoda said Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate and hate leads to suffering.”

And while this statement is true, what is the positive statement? Knowing that fear leads to suffering does not help you escape suffering, does it? The key then to overcoming fear is the perfect love, the unconditional love of God. This love is a higher form of vibration, a higher form of energy, and when it meets the lower vibrations of fear, it consumes those vibrations.

By going within your heart and establishing a connection to your Christ self, you can become the open door for the light of God to stream into your consciousness and consume the vibration of fear. You cannot intellectually remove fear. The only true solution is to bring the higher vibration of love. That is why Moses said, “Our God is a consuming fire.” Our God is a God of love, and if you allow him to do so, his love will consume all lower vibrations in your being.

What are we allowed to know about Jesus?

TOPICS: Difficult to question everything and believe in nothing – many people dare not believe in what cannot be proven – belief becomes the foundation for knowledge – many people split by having deified intellect – some people met Jesus 2,000 years ago – no physical proof for spiritual mysteries – progressive revelation

Question: I don’t worship any god, I question everything because that is what I am. I don’t follow any teacher in particular but study all teachers. I want to know as much as I can, the truth about your life, just plain factual historical truth. I don’t know how much we mere mortals are allowed to know about you or have a right to know? Your gospel story can be explained to all kinds of sources as gods or past historical people.

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

When a person posts a question to this website, there is often two levels to the question. The actual question is formulated by, and heavily influenced by, the person’s conscious, or outer, mind. Yet behind the outer question is often a deeper question which springs from the lifestream and its true desire to know. I am a spiritual teacher, and I am fully capable of tuning in to the hidden questions of each lifestream. When I answer a question, I address both the outer question and the inner question.

That is why, in my answer to your first set of questions, I gave you a teaching on the need to remain balanced and the need to establish a foundation for your spiritual search. My point was to help you understand that you can find true knowledge only by starting out with a foundation of belief, or faith. If you question everything but believe in nothing, then a spiritual teacher simply does not have anything to work with.

You see, when a student approaches a spiritual teacher, the teacher can, by cosmic law, only multiply that which the student brings to the altar. If the student does not dare to believe anything, the teacher has nothing to multiply, and therefore it becomes extremely difficult for the teacher to help the student.

I must tell you that you are a typical example of the state of consciousness shared by many people in this scientific and rational age. Because so many people have glorified and deified the human intellect, they no longer dare to believe in anything that cannot be proven by a so-called factual proof. Yet, as I attempted to explain in my previous answer, there is no such thing as a proof that cannot be questioned by the human intellect.

Therefore, both I and other spiritual teachers are now faced with a large number of people who have a sincere desire to know yet do not dare to believe in anything. The question is how we can communicate truth to such people? The answer is that the only way to help the student is that the student must first go through the inner process of finding something in which the student can believe. The lifestream must come to a point of daring to say: “I believe in this, even if there is no factual, outer proof that it is true!” In that respect, it is not all that important whether the student believes in something that is factually correct. As long as the student is open to a higher understanding, the teacher can expand and redirect the student’s faith.

By going through this process, the lifestream comes to a point of resolution at which it dares to believe in something regardless of what the world says about it. This point of faith becomes the foundation for the lifestream’s communion with its Christ self and its spiritual teachers. You see, God and God’s truth is beyond this world. If you want to know God, you must dare to look beyond this world and believe in something that cannot be proven by any worldly means. If you do not have this inner foundation, you cannot know God’s truth; you can know only the relative truth defined by the powers of this world.

How can you find a point of faith? You can do so only by making contact with your Christ self and thereby gaining an inner knowing, a state of gnosis, which is beyond the understanding of the intellect. The problem in today’s world is that so many people have a split in their lifestreams. Because they have glorified the intellect and rational knowledge, they no longer dare to believe in their intuitive faculties.

Many of these lifestreams are true spiritual seekers. They truly want to understand God and God’s truth, yet they have come to believe that they must have factual proof before they can accept God’s truth. As I have attempted to explain, you cannot find outer, rational or factual proof for the deeper spiritual mysteries. You can understand these mysteries only through the inner state of peace that passeth all intellectual understanding.

You say that you want “the truth about your life, just plain factual historical truth.” Yet you also say that you question everything. So how can I tell you something and make you accept—or rather believe— that it really is “factual, historical” truth? What could I possibly say that you would accept? The simple truth is that I can say nothing until you establish a point of contact with your Christ self whereby you can gain an inner confirmation that what I say is true.

A lifestream can remain stuck forever in the relative reasoning of the intellect. Because of the Law of Free Will, a spiritual teacher cannot force you to move beyond that impasse. You must move yourself beyond it by deciding that you are willing to believe in something regardless of what the world says about it. I cannot make that decision for you!

There is a group of lifestreams in the world who find themselves in a difficult situation. These are lifestreams who actually met me when I walked the earth 2,000 years ago. These lifestreams heard me preach and some of them saw me perform various miracles. Because of this outer contact, they came to believe in me as the Christ or the Messiah. Unfortunately, these lifestreams had very specific expectations about how the Messiah should appear. When these outer expectations were not fulfilled, especially as the result of what they saw as my less than honorable death, these lifestreams lost faith in me. They did not accept my resurrection, and they came to doubt that I was really the Christ.

Many of these lifestreams have spent the last 2,000 years going in and out of embodiment in an attempt to resolve this nonbelief in the Living Christ. Some of these lifestreams have resolved their impasse by making contact with the Christ within themselves. Unfortunately, others have not been willing to go within, and instead they continue to look for some outer proof that can help them regain their faith in me. As I have attempted to explain, there is no such outer proof. There is no factual proof which the human intellect cannot question and doubt. Therefore, the only way to restore your faith in me is to go within yourself and get proof directly from your Christ self.

Let me now address your questions and comments.

“I do not worship any god”

God has no need to be worshipped by human beings. The question is, “Do you believe in God?” Do you believe that God exists? Do you believe that there is a connection between yourself and God and that this connection enables you to know God and know your true relationship to God? If not, you need to make an effort to go within and discover that connection.

“I study all religions, I don’t follow any teacher in particular but study all teachers.”

While it is good to be open to more than one religion and one teacher, it is dangerous to spread yourself too thin. One of the main ideas described by the ascended masters is the Guru-chela relationship. The idea is that there is a group of spiritual beings, who for eons have been serving as spiritual teachers for human beings.

The basic principle of the Guru-chela relationship is that the student finds a true teacher and then allows the teacher to take the student to a higher level of consciousness. This sometimes requires that the student must follow the teacher even if the student’s outer mind cannot understand the directions of the teacher.

If you are not willing to follow a teacher, then you have not truly understood the principles behind the master/disciple relationship. I would recommend that for a time you select one teacher and teaching and follow it with great intensity. This will help you go within and establish a contact to your Christ self. Once you have this inner contact, you will know when you should again look beyond that one teaching.

“Your gospel story can be explained to the mysteries and the esoterics.”

Sure it can, and the reason is that the Gospel story contains many timeless and universal spiritual elements and teachings. Some of these can be found in earlier pagan religions. I can assure you that I did and said certain things for the specific purpose of establishing a connection between my own mission and the universal spiritual truths that have guided humankind since the beginning of time.

The problem is that too many people look at my life with a bias created by modern Christianity. As I state in several places on my website, I did not come to found the religion of Christianity. I came to demonstrate a universal spiritual path that leads to a higher state of consciousness. I had no intention of becoming elevated to an idol or as the only son of God or even as God incarnate. It was my desire to be seen as a mystery teacher who was part of an ancient mystery tradition.

Unfortunately, humankind, with its tendency to create idols, distorted my true teachings and my true message. That is precisely why I have created my website in an attempt to reach those who have ears to hear and who are willing to look beyond orthodox ideas and find the true esoteric teachings that I came to demonstrate.

However, remember my teaching that knowing the facts will not give you faith. As a true spiritual seeker, your first order of business should be to seek the inner contact with your Christ self that will give you faith regardless of what the world considers fact.

“I don’t know how much we mere mortals are allowed to know about you or have a right to know?”

I do not avoid questions, but there are questions that I do not want to answer and there are questions I am not currently allowed to answer. True spirituality is always based on the principle of progressive revelation. The idea is that we of the ascended masters give people a specific spiritual teaching. When people study and apply the teaching, they will raise their level of consciousness. This then becomes the foundation for the release of an even higher understanding of spiritual principles. Until people have embodied the previous teaching, we are not allowed to release a more advanced teaching.

The purpose of my website is to help people discover my true teachings about the inner path. Helping people do this is a delicate balance because so many people have been brought up to believe in the orthodox version of my teachings. I do not want to destroy anyone’s faith in me or in the value of my teachings. Therefore, I will occasionally refuse to comment on a question if the answer goes too far beyond what I think most people can accept.

Hopefully more and more people will raise their consciousness so that I can release all of the facts about my life. You can help this process by truly embodying the teachings found on my website.

I understand your desire to know, but I hope you will recognize that your desire for outer knowledge is not the real issue. The real issue is that your lifestream has a desire to reestablish its faith in me as the Living Christ. That faith cannot be established through outer knowledge. Go within and seek me in your own heart and you shall indeed find me.

Jesus’ real name

TOPICS: Must look beyond doctrines – find balance and do not believe everything – be wise as serpents – some theories are deliberate forgeries – in information age, the power elite seek to overwhelm people with false information – those who deify the intellect – Jesus was a historical person – Saint Issa – Apollonius of Tyana – Jeshu ben Pandira –

Question: Isn’t your name Eesa? or rather Issa? It is said that you went to all these places like Egypt, Persia, India, Tibet and wherever else, but really not a lot of proof? There is actually one person who did travel to these place and he was Apollonius of Tyana, and he lived when it is said you lived but there is no proof you lived. So the question highlighting this is weren’t you Jeshu ben Pandira and then you reincarnated as Apollonius of Tyana? Well, I wish I could actually talk to the real master Jesus.

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

It is extremely important for a spiritual seeker to maintain an open mind and a willingness to look beyond established, or orthodox, doctrines and dogmas. I will be the first to admit, as explained throughout this website, that much of my true teaching has been systematically removed from orthodox Christianity. Therefore, to know my true teaching, you must be willing to look beyond the boundaries defined by orthodoxy.

Yet it is also important for a true seeker to find balance and to exercise discernment. In other words, while it is good to be open, it is not good to be open to any theory that comes along. This is especially true in the age of the Internet. There are so many theories and beliefs broadcast on the Internet that a person can quickly end up feeling overwhelmed.

While certain new theories have indeed helped many seekers expand their understanding of the spiritual side of life, I must tell you that the abundance of theories has also caused some sincere seekers to end up not knowing what to believe or, even worse, not daring to believe in anything.

Balance and discernment, therefore, are the key words when it comes to spiritual growth. Stay out of the extremes. Stay out of the one extreme of closing your mind to anything that goes beyond orthodox doctrine. Stay out of the opposite extreme of opening your mind to anything that is out there.

Remember my saying to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. Being wise as serpents means being wise to the existence of the serpents, or rather the serpentine logic promoted by many false teachers or even by those who simply do not know better. You must realize that there are forces that seek to prevent you from knowing the truth. For many centuries, they attempted to suppress the truth by banning and burning books. In today’s information age, technology has taken this weapon away from them. Yet they are quick to use technology for their ends, and one way is to spread so many false, incomplete or outrageous theories that many people either cling to orthodoxy or give up in discouragement because they know not what to believe. Remember the saying that discouragement is the sharpest tool in the Devil’s toolkit!

As a spiritual seeker it is extremely important to be aware that there is a group of people on earth who have deified the human intellect. They believe they have developed such a sophisticated intellect that they can explain and understand all of the questions about life through the intellect. This is a fallacy, and no amount of intellectual reasoning will change that fact. You cannot know ultimate truth through the relative faculty of the human intellect. You can know absolute truth only through the absolute discernment of the Christ consciousness. You achieve contact with your Christ self through the heart and not through the intellect.

The intellectual elite, as they like to refer to themselves, think they can understand and explain the mysteries of life. Some are found in the field of science and some are found in the field of religion. Wherever they are found, they are precisely the people that I rebuked with my statement, “Woe unto ye lawyers, for ye have taken away the key to knowledge—the key to knowledge of the inner Christ—ye entered not in yourselves—you were not willing to put on your personal Christhood—and those that would enter ye hindered—by ensnaring them with your intellectual reasoning and theories.

I am in no way saying that all of the theories about me are false. Yet I must tell you that a very large portion of them are indeed false and, no matter how appealing they might be to the human intellect, they have no basis in the reality of Christ.

Yes, I am aware of the many theories that raise questions about whether there was ever a historical Jesus or whether the person that inspired the Gospels was this or that person. Yet I must tell you truly that there was indeed a historical man named Jesus who became the Christ. And while the orthodox Gospels do not give an accurate account of my life or my teachings, they are, in fact, more accurate than many of the theories that you find on the Internet.

Regardless of the sophistication of these many intellectual theories, there is indeed a reality, a spiritual and physical reality, of the Christ. I am the true Jesus Christ and I am speaking through this messenger who has made himself ready and willing to let me speak through him.

Yet how will people know me as the true Christ? How can you know that I am indeed the real Jesus Christ speaking on a website that is only one among thousands of others with conflicting theories and claims? You can know so only by gaining confirmation in your own heart.

Take note of the fact that when the Roman soldiers came to arrest me, they needed Judas to point me out amongst my disciples. The soldiers could not recognize me as the Christ in embodiment, and to them I looked like any other man. What does it take to recognize the living Christ, whether he appears before you in a physical body, in a spiritual vision or on a page on the Internet? It takes a certain measure of Christ truth in your own heart. It takes a conscious contact with your Christ self.

If you have this spark of Christ in your heart, you will know my voice even though I am speaking through one of your brothers in embodiment. If you do not know my voice, then you have the option of sharpening your discernment. Invoke spiritual protection against the forces of this world that are seeking to confound and confuse your mind. Make an effort to develop a direct relationship with your higher self, your Christ self. And above all strive to maintain balance in all things.

Let me now address your questions. I did indeed travel to the nations of the East and to Egypt, as described elsewhere. In the East, I did become known as Saint Issa. There is indeed historical evidence of my travels, as described in several books.

You are asking about proof, but what proof could possibly be given that the human mind could not doubt? There are those on earth who are absolutely convinced that archaeological evidence supports the creation story in the Bible. There are those who are equally convinced that archaeological evidence supports the theories of Darwin. Proof, therefore, is in the eyes of the beholder. If you see through the eyes of the relativity of the lower consciousness, you will not recognize truth even if it stands before you as the embodied Christ.

No, I was not Apollonius of Tyana or Jeshu ben Pandira. These were separate lifestreams and not my embodiments. Did I marry Mary Magdalene? I have commented on this elsewhere.

You say that you wish you could talk to the real Jesus, and indeed you can. You can hear me speak to you in your own heart—if you are willing to open your heart to my Presence and invite me to enter. To hear me speak to you in your heart, follow my advice given above and make an effort to practice the technique for inner attunement.

It is not difficult to know me directly. My demands are not high. I only demand that you are willing to lose your life, your mortal sense of identity and your intellectual theories about life, in order to know me directly in your heart. Truly, that is not a high price to pay for eternal life in the Light of Christ.

Jesus as the only son of God

TOPICS: All people are sons or daughters of God – you build your individuality – you can create a pseudo individuality – the ego cannot accept that you are a son or daughter of God – 2,000 years ago Jesus was unique in the sense that he had accepted his true identity – Jesus was turned into an idol

Question: Was Jesus Christ the only son of God?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

Everything in the world of form is created from God’s substance. Without him was not anything made that was made. Therefore, every lifestream is a son or daughter of God.

However, there are many devout Christians who feel very strongly that I was someone special, and there is some validity to this belief. I am not thereby saying that I completely agree with this belief, I am merely saying that it is understandable why so many Christians hold on to this belief. Let me explain.

What does it truly mean to be a son or daughter of God? God has given you free will, and God has given you the ability to create. Originally, your lifestream was created in the image and likeness of God, meaning it had a unique individuality. However, your spiritual parents did not create your individuality as something that was set in stone. You have the free will and the creative potential to build your individuality upon the foundation laid by your spiritual parents. This is indeed what you were meant to do.

Therefore, life can be seen as a process through which your lifestream is constantly building its sense of identity. In an overall sense, you are meant to keep building your sense of identity until you reach a point where you realize that you are an individualization of God and that you have the full creative powers of God himself/herself. That is why I said: “Ye are Gods.”

NOTE: The rest of this answer is avbailable in the book: The Mystical Teachings of Jesus.

Jeshua is the Aramaic spelling of Jesus

TOPICS: Jeshua – people’s reservations about Christianity – Jesus is a universal teacher – Jesus does not use different names –

Question: Is the name Jeshua incorrect?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

Jeshua is simply the Aramaic spelling of Jesus. Therefore, it is not incorrect to use this name (or other variations) to refer to me.

I am aware that many people have various reservations about Christianity, and therefore about me as a spiritual being. These reservations are very understandable, yet in the long run they do not promote spiritual growth.

It would be far better for such people to let go of them and come to see the universality of my being and teaching. By studying my website, you will realize that there is a vast difference between the spiritual being Jesus Christ and the idol that human beings have created over 2,000 years. You will also realize that there is a vast difference between the real teachings that I gave 2,000 years ago and the orthodox doctrines that have been created, in many cases for purely political reasons.

I am a spiritual being, a spiritual teacher. I love every human being on earth, and I do not judge anyone for their beliefs. I constantly seek to work with people in their current state of consciousness. Therefore, I occasionally appear to or speak to people and use the name Jeshua as a way to overcome these people’s reservations.

Let me make it clear that even though I seek to reach every human being, I do not use a name that is completely different from or unrelated to the name Jesus. The claim made by some channelers that they are channeling a being with a different name who is nevertheless Jesus Christ is simply not correct.

Millions of Muslims are ready for change, but few dare to speak openly

TOPICS: The dream of the ego is immortality without the death of the self – spiritual guidance comes from within, not from an outer scripture – Koran can be used as means to stimulate inner guidance – the Koran not faithful to Mohammed’s revelation – Mohammed was a mystic – God is beyond form – Mohammed made mistake of giving people what they wanted – the danger of letting the prophet become more important than God – the Muslim world will change, but it may require the second law of thermodynamics to break it down – millions of Muslims are ready for a new more open-minded approach – raising the Muslim faith –

Question: These are some of the points I learned from you on Islam:

– Muhammad was a divinely ordained messenger (even though he had not achieved Christhood)
– Large portions of the Quran were delivered intact by Muhammad, particularly the early surahs
– After his passing, much was added to Muhammad’s teachings by his followers
– Islam was intended as a religion for the Arabs and not the world at large

My questions:
1. How useful is the Quran as a tool for spiritual guidance today?
2. Is today’s Quran really the one that Muhammad delivered? For example, it is organised roughly according to the length of the surah and not in chronological order. If the instruction manual is organized wrongly then what good is it?
3. Do today’s muslims pray as Muhammad did? Or is this a man-made creation?
4. Is change possible in the muslim world? It seems that there is zero ability for self-examination and growth amongst muslims. I have my doubts that muslims can rise above their current beliefs and come to a new, fresh and more relevant practice.

I know you ask us to find our own answers which is what I am trying to do. I belong to the muslim faith and have serious issues with it. Rather than throw out the whole thing overnight, I’d like to do this gradually. Hence my questions.

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels: (December 8, 2010)

Question 1:
Any tool is only as useful as the practitioner makes it. If there had been a mechanical way to take people to the ascension, it would long ago have been found. We of the ascended masters have qualified for our ascensions by finding the true path, the creative path within each of us. Thus, we are not seeking to develop or release an automatic path, as we know it cannot be done. It is only unenlightened people who seek a guaranteed path to salvation—the dream of the ego to achieve immortality without self-transcendence, without the death of the self.

Spiritual guidance is not, never has been and never will be a matter of having the perfect outer scripture or set of rules. Spiritual guidance must come from within, from your I AM Presence, as described in my discourse. An outer scripture – be it the Koran, the Bible, the “secret” teachings of the ages or this website – can be helpful only to the extent that it stimulates your ability to go within and contact your higher self. When a student uses an outer source with a desire for a guaranteed path, then it will never lead to true self-transcendence. It will lead to the blind alley of spiritual pride, where you think God must accept you because of what you have done according to a standard defined on earth.

The Koran has the potential to be a source for stimulating your inner contact with your I AM Presence. It is true that the vast majority of Muslims do not use it this way, as the vast majority of Christians do not use the Bible this way. Yet why should you – as a spiritual student – allow the majority to pull you down? No one has ever won their ascension by following the crowd—or even by listening to the crowd.

So if you dare to read between the lines and let the Koran guide you, it can indeed be used as a valid tool—even with the obvious flaws of its organization.

Question 2:
No, the present Koran is not faithful to what Mohammed delivered. However, it is closer to the revelation given to Mohammed than the New Testament is to my true teachings. Thus, it is still useful for those who go beyond the outer word and seek for the inner WORD.

Certainly, it would be preferable to have the Surahs organized in the order they were given, so that students could ignore or look with a discerning eye upon the later ones that clearly have a dualistic vibration. Yet great care was taken by some very misguided early leaders to make this impossible. Then again, for a student willing to use his or her inner guidance, it is not difficult to sense the difference in vibration between the early and later Surahs.

I am not hereby saying that I encourage people to study the Koran exclusively. Those who are open to going beyond the outer word should never confine their minds to one source—including this website. You should always study multiple sources and at any given time focus on the one that resonates more deeply with you—allowing this to change over time.

Question 3:
Mohammed in his early years understood what is the central message of the Koran—and all other inspired scriptures. The message is that the one true God is beyond form, is beyond what can be captured in any scripture or ritual. Thus, he prayed by going within and contacting his higher self as he understood it. This is what all true mystics have done throughout the ages, and Mohammed did start out as a true mystic.

When you understand that the one true God is beyond form, you see that it is meaningless to think this God can be found only in a specific location on earth. Thinking that the formless God can somehow be associated with or confined to any form is precisely the flaw of monotheism. Mohammed did understand this, but most of his followers did not. They needed a physical focal point for their worship, and Mohammed later in life made the mistake of “giving the people what they want,” thinking this was doing God’s service. It was not.

I did not make that mistake. I left them no scripture and I did not even leave them a physical body. Of course, this was added later, and so even if Mohammed had not done what he did, his followers would still have created such physical symbols. Nevertheless, Mohammed did understand that the central point of Islam is the formless God, and he knew the danger of letting the prophet become more important than the source. Thus, he did not want Muslims to be so focused on Mecca. Instead of praying while facing Mecca, he wanted them to pray by going within—as does Allah. You will not find Allah in Mecca, but only in his kingdom—which is within you.

The elaborate prayer ritual that many Muslims follow today is again an expression of the drive to create an outer, mechanical path that will guarantee your salvation. It is no different than certain Tibetans believing that by prostrating yourself 10,000 times, you are guaranteed to reap certain benefits. This is the outer path that will not lead you to the ascension, whereas a simply ritual for emptying your mind of all preconceived notions and tuning in to your I AM Presence would be far more helpful.

Question 4:
Well, we among the ascended masters do ask ourselves the same question from time to time. Then again, we also see how closed-minded the Christian world was only a few centuries past. Although most people in the West are not yet open to going within, there is at least more openness in western society today than what you saw 2-300 years ago.

Thus, we all see that with the inevitability of time, the Muslim world will indeed change. If in no other way, the second law of thermodynamics will inevitably create such chaos that Muslims will be forced to change. Of course, we all hope that a change can happen by people being willing to open their minds.

And this is where you and people like you come in. Do not throw out your Muslim faith. Instead, do what you can to raise the issues and find others who have the same concerns. Organize and help each other spread a new and more open-minded approach.

You may think you are all alone, but I can assure you that millions of Muslims have the same concerns and sense the need for change. Millions of lifestreams have – as yourself – volunteered to embody in the Muslim faith precisely to bring change at this time. This change is much closer than you think, although it has not yet reached the critical mass that causes it to become obvious and undeniable.

Yet study my article on what brings change, and realize that there is a top ten percent among Muslims, and they have great power—especially when they awaken and come together. So do not give up on the Muslim faith—raise it up by raising your own awareness and then helping others do the same.

Why do some channelers say Muhammad ascended?

TOPICS: Muhammed has not ascended – false hierarchy gives forth false information – genuine desire to transcend religious warfare – people want Muhammad to have ascended –

Question: I have read your sections on Muhammad, and how he is not an ascended master. But other channelers have stated that he is. Why is there a clash in messages here if they are being received by the same sources?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels: (September 27, 2010)

There is a clash because the messages are NOT being received from the same sources.

Read my teachings on channeling, and you will see that there are beings in the lower etheric, mental and astral realms who will channel through anyone willing. These beings are not ascended masters, as they have not risen above duality. Some of them will actually use the names of ascended masters in order to give themselves credibility, and many channelers have been ensnared by this false hierarchy.

Take note that this false hierarchy is false in the sense that they claim to be ascended beings and thus impostor us who truly have transcended duality. There are also beings who do not claim to be ascended or use ascended master names and are still channeling. This is perfectly honest, as people must be given freedom to seek information from sources that resonate with their state of consciousness. Some of these beings are more advanced than most people on earth, and thus spiritual seekers can learn from them. Yet there will come a point on your path, where you will want teachings from beings who are truly beyond duality. It is difficult to rise higher in consciousness than your teacher.

So why do some channelers say Mohammed is ascended and why do many people in spiritual movements want to believe this? Because many people in New Age circles have a genuine desire to take society beyond the religious animosity that has caused so much warfare and conflict. They realize that religious tolerance can only come about when there is mutual respect among people from different religions.

They also realize that it is not realistic that any of the major world religions will go away. So they hope that people can come to see that different religions came from the same source. And as a result of this genuine desire for religious tolerance, people want to believe that all the major world religions are equal, which gives rise to the desire for all of the founders of those religions to have ascended. And since many New Age people realize that Krishna, the Buddha and myself are ascended, they also want Muhammad to have ascended. And while this is a benign desire for religious tolerance, the fact is that it cannot be achieved through gray thinking. It can only be achieved through Christ discernment. Gray thinking is only a step up from the black-and-white thinking that causes religious intolerance, but it is NOT the same as Christ discernment.

Sufism is comparable to the mystical aspects of most other religions

TOPICS: Most religions crystallize into two factions – the outer word and the Living Word – some people need the outer path for a time – mysticism has a mixture of true and false revelation – must dare to strive for discernment – Islam does not live up to its highest potential – no branch is entirely pure – Muslims have divided themselves –  Shia and Sunny are man-made divisions – can the old religions be renewed?

Question: In Islam Mohammad gave the outer teaching through the Koran. Did Ali, Mohammad’s cousin, give the inner teaching to the Koran? And what is the source of Sufism in Islam?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels: (December 30, 2007)

Sufism is comparable to the mystical aspects of most other religions. Where in any religion on earth that gains a certain amount of followers, you see sort of a crystallization into two basic movements. One that is more attached to the outer path – the outer words, the outer scriptures, the outer rules and regulations – and one that follows the inner path, which is often based on some source of direct revelation from above.

When a lifestream is at the lower levels of spiritual awareness, it is not able to have a direct experience of God. So it needs an outer path to follow until – often after many lifetimes – it attains more inner discernment, more belief in its own ability to know what is real and unreal. And thus it becomes open to the inner path, where it now has to follow its own inner promptings, its own inner direction, without blindly trusting or following an outer teaching or teacher.

So there is a certain validity in the outer path for those who are not ready for the inner path, which is why I myself taught at two different levels—gave my parables to the multitudes and expounded all things to my disciples. So you will see this pattern in many religions, including Judaism, where you have the teachings on the Kabbalah forming the mystical path. Sufism therefore is a viable path for those who are further along on the path and yet come from a Muslim background.

Yet, as with any mystical movement, you cannot simply look at such a movement and say that everything that goes on within that movement is necessarily of the light. For the nature of a mystical movement is that it has greater freedom, and thus there will usually be many people who will have, or claim to have, some contact with the spirit. And thus, they will claim to be receiving some form of revelation from a higher realm. And there will usually be some who have genuine revelation and some who do not, which is why, in a mystical movement, discernment is the essential element. And that is precisely why the people who are not yet mature enough to have discernment often shun the mystical movement, somehow subconsciously knowing that they are not ready for this.

The trouble is, of course, that in many cases lifestreams become attached to an outer religion, and they might begin to believe in the fear-based teachings of an outer religion. So they do not even dare to exercise their discernment. And thus, as you see with many Christians today – even though at inner levels they are mature enough to embrace the mystical aspects of Christianity – their outer minds do not dare to let go of the belief that by blindly following the outer religion they are guaranteed to be saved. And thus, they do not dare to let go of that outer sense of security, and go through the period of turmoil that most beings go through as they leave behind the outer path and start on the inner path.

Question: About Ali, did he give the inner teaching of the Koran? Because some people in Shia Islam believe that he was supposed to get the prophethood, and he gave inner teaching and the outer teaching was given through Mohammad.

Jesus: The answer is yes and no, in the sense that I have no desire whatsoever to make a particular branch of Islam feel that they are superior to other branches. Ali did have some inner revelation but this does not mean that his teachings were entirely accurate. Since he was also somewhat colored by his own personal beliefs and cultural beliefs—as was Mohammad.

So the unfortunate reality is that there is not a mainstream branch of Islam that is entirely pure. There are some Sufi sects that have a greater degree of purity. But to be quite honest with you, Islam as a religion is far from living up to its highest potential. And it is difficult for us of the ascended masters to see how that religion can be renewed, given the state of consciousness you find in the various main branches of Islam.

Islam was given in an attempt to unify the various tribes in the Middle East—who have been fighting for thousands of years. Yet do you not see exactly how they have used Islam to create divisions amongst themselves? For I can tell you that it would have been better if there was no such division and there was a more unified movement in the Islamic world.

So Shia or Sunni are really artificial, man-made divisions that have no reality in God. And therefore, I do not want to give the impression that one particular branch is somehow purer or superior to another. For if they truly want to understand the true teachings behind the Koran, then all branches of Islam, all Muslims, would have to reach far beyond, even far beyond the original teachings given by Mohammad. And then you would have to question whether there would be any point in continuing the old religion, or whether an entirely new religion would emerge, based on the old foundation.

This, of course, is a question that applies also to Christianity and other major world religions—of whether they have become so rigid due to people’s beliefs, held over many centuries, that they can actually be renewed. Or whether they must be replaced by an entirely new religion.

My hope and one of my purposes with the AskRealJesus website is that, eventually, many who call themselves Christians will begin to heed my living word, and will therefore use it to transform Christianity. But I can tell you that at this point it is an open question whether Christianity can be renewed—or whether it will simply become a shrinking religion that will eventually shrink into insignificance and be replaced by a new, more Aquarian-age form of spirituality.

The power elite will use religion to control the people

TOPICS: Power elite misuses religion – true and false spirituality – finding truth within yourself – Mohammed was not free of ego – idolatry of Mohammed – moderate Muslims must speak out against fundamentalism – people must say that enough is enough – some Muslims are among the most rigid people on the planet –

Question: Were the ascended masters wrong when they inspired Mohammed, because from the beginning the spiritual message was transformed into a political message. So why did they not know that and do something about it from the beginning?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels: (July 14, 2007)

Who says we did not know about it? We know very well that any teaching we give to humankind has the potential to be misused. We might even say that any teaching that can be misused will be misused, although I am not completely a pessimist.

Nevertheless, we know very well that when we bring forth a new teaching, there is a high likelihood that it will be misused by the power elite, as you see in both Christianity and Islam. Yet the only option we would have to avoid this was to never bring forth any teaching. And so you see, again, we get into the consciousness that you cannot be so afraid of making a mistake that you do not dare to do anything. Which is what we have said over and over again for those on the path of Christhood.

You must learn from every situation. And so the way we look at it is simply that when we give a new philosophy, we give another opportunity to humankind to learn the lesson of what it takes to have true spirituality as opposed to false spirituality.

You see, the problem with any religion is that there are too many people who are yet unwilling to take responsibility for themselves. And therefore, they want a religion – a religious leadership, a religious prophet – to tell them what to believe and how to live their lives. Saint Germain talked about the need for Christ discernment. Well, Christ discernment means that you do not look to an external authority to tell you what to believe or to tell you what is true. You are willing to seek the inner discernment, the inner recognition of what is true, and then take a stand for that truth that you see within, even though you will often have to go against the outer authority.

It is a continual problem for the ascended masters that while we long to bring forth new teachings, we do not necessarily have those who are fully prepared to be the instruments for that teaching. And so in many cases we have had to make use of people who were less than perfect, meaning they were not made perfect in love and had not attained non-attachment to particular beliefs or agendas, for they had not yet conquered their psychology or their ego. And this obviously – for those who have eyes to see – was the case for Mohammed.

And only those who are blinded by idolatry – the same kind of idolatry that many Christians are blinded by when they look at me – will think that Mohammed was the perfect human being. Did not Mohammed do everything he could to prevent people from idolizing him? And have not the Muslims idolized him anyway? Even though they will not allow the making of physical pictures of his image, they still have created a mental and emotional idolatry of him.

Yet the reality is that Mohammed was a product of his time. And in the beginning years, he brought forth a more pure teaching than in the later years, when he had become too involved in the dualistic power struggle because of the opposition that he faced to his mission. Thus, he engaged in a certain consciousness of resentment and revenge against those who opposed him and his mission. And that colored the later teachings that he received.

This is, again, something that moderate Muslims who are open-minded will be able to see—if they are willing to look beyond the fundamentalist approach that the Koran has to be the infallible word of God,the exact same approach that you find among the fundamentalists of the Christian religion.

As I have explained in my ego discourses about black-and-white thinking, people who are trapped in black-and-white thinking can only see conflict, can only create conflict. And thus, it is up to those who have gone beyond both black-and-white and gray thinking to realize that they are the ones who must bring balance and moderation to their own religion and to the world at large.

So until you have a critical mass of moderate Muslims who are willing to speak out – and thereby incur the wrath of their own brethren in the Muslim faith who are still trapped in the radical approach to Islam – well unless that happens, we will not see a major breakthrough until we have slid even further down into the black hole of violence. Where they finally get to a point where the violence driven by religion has become so outrageous that people will finally stand up and say, “Enough is enough.”

Look at the recent developments in Pakistan, where you have the radical clerics that are rebelling and yet there are not enough people who are willing to stand up and say, “We do not want this in our nation. We want a more moderate and balanced approach.”

And so you see the inevitability of a confrontation, which could be avoided if there were enough moderate people who would stand up and demand a change. This of course would mean a very drastic change in the approach to religion. And in the case of Pakistan, an overturning of a militant government that was not elected by the people.

So again, the question is: Are people ready and willing for the change that it would take to break the pattern of violence? And I must say that in the Muslim world you find pockets of people who are the most rigid that you find anywhere on this planet, and who want to keep doing things the way they have been done for thousands of years, even though the world obviously – and inevitably – has moved beyond the old ways.

When will there be a revival or renewal of the Islamic faith?

TOPICS: Muslims must decide that they have had enough of violence – moderate Muslims must speak out – Islam has been misused for political purposes – the power elite in Muslim societies –

Question: When will there be a revival or renewal of the Islamic faith to move away from violence and politics and towards true spirituality?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels: (July 14, 2007)

Well, I would be happy if we could have that revival in Christianity. And so I prefer to clean my own house before I attempt to clean those of other people.

Nevertheless this is a question that, of course, I cannot prophesy about. Because how can you prophesy about something that is completely dependent upon the free-will choices of human beings in embodiment. The real answer is that the revival will happen when a critical mass of Muslims decide that they have had enough of the violence that is “justified” by their faith. And therefore, they decide to speak out in the face of the radicals who are misusing Islam for purposes that have nothing to do with religion – nothing to do with the vision and purpose of their faith – but is only another power play on this planet.

So it would be very advantageous if the moderate Muslims would come to an understanding of the very fact that their religion has been misused for political purposes as much as has the religion of Christianity. And this is a pattern that goes very far back on this planet, where the power elite will misuse absolutely anything in their quest for control over the people. And they have used both religious and political and economic philosophies to gain that control.

And so the moderate Muslims need to wisen up and realize that this is not acceptable to them. And therefore they will speak out—not only against the radicals but against the hidden power elite in Muslim societies that are simply using the radicals to stir up what they have decided is for the furtherance of their political agenda.

Should the Pope apologize for offending Muslims?

TOPICS: Will Muslims use violence to protest to being labeled as violent? – use your religion to overcome anger – certain Muslim groups create anger against the West; not the people – the pope’s speech was unintelligent – more violence committed by Christianity than Islam – believing your religion is superior cannot foster interfaith dialogue – how can an infallible pope apologize? –

Question from Kim: Jesus, I would like to ask for your comments on the Pope’s speech in which he quoted a 14th-century Byzantine emperor, Manuel II Paleologus, who said, “Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.”

Apparently the Pope was not agreeing or disagreeing with this emperor but was using the remark to show the incompatibility of religion and violence. Nevertheless, offense was taken by a number of Islamic groups and governments. The Pakistani Parliament has just voted to condemn the remarks and here is another example:

“The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) regrets the quotations cited by the pope on the Life of the Honorable Prophet Mohammed, and what he referred to as ‘spreading’ Islam ‘by the sword.'”

“The attribution of the spread of Islam around the world to the shedding of blood and violence, which is ‘incompatible with the nature of God’ is a complete distortion of the facts, which shows deep ignorance of Islam and Islamic history.”

Muslim Brotherhood Chairman Mohammed Mahdi Akef said: “The pope’s statements come to add fuel to fire and trigger anger within the Muslim world and show that the West with its politicians and clerics are hostile to Islam.”

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels: (September 15, 2006)

Well, it is a bit early to comment on this since one does not have to be a prophet to predict that Muslim anger will spread, as it did over the Mohammed cartoons earlier this year. The “big” question is whether the protests will become violent? In other words, will the Muslims – who claim to be offended by having their religion linked to violence – use violence to protest that they were labeled as violent? Or will they respond peacefully so as to disprove the claim?

My immediate response is to say to both parties:

Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother’s eye. (Luke 6:42)

I have already talked about the changes that need to happen in Islam when I made my remarks on the Cartoon conflict, so let me be brief here.

If you truly look at the example and teachings given by the Prophet Mohammed, you will not take offense over anything. Thus, you will not attack others and say, “You should not have said something that triggers anger in me.” Instead, you will use your own religion to overcome all anger in yourself, as Mohammed demonstrated by forgiving his enemies. Those Muslims who do take offense over something like this are demonstrating that they have a “deep ignorance of Islam and Islamic history.”

A remark such as, “The pope’s statements come to add fuel to fire and trigger anger within the Muslim world and show that the West with its politicians and clerics are hostile to Islam” is so deeply hypocritical that it almost defies description. As I just said, the very fact that the fire is there in the first place shows an unwillingness to apply the teachings and follow the example of Mohammed. If more Muslims were willing to do so, nothing could “trigger anger” within the Muslim world. Jihad would have been a thing of the past that no modern Muslim would consider worth a second thought.

Using the remarks of the Pope to generalize and say that “the West with its politicians and clerics are hostile to Islam” is not only hypocrisy but shows a clear agenda. This demonstrates that anger against the West does not come from the Muslim people themselves. It is an anger that is created by a few groups within Islamic countries, groups that have a vested interest in creating anger against the West and setting up a “clash of civilizations.” There are several of such groups and their motives are both complex and contradictory. Nevertheless, my point is that the people in both Muslim countries and in the West need to see through such hidden agendas – in both areas – and avoid forming a negative opinion of each other.

Let me now focus on the Pope. It is clear that the Pope actually intended to further dialogue on the matter of violence and religion. The remark quoted above was taken out of context and used to characterize the entire speech—as the press loves to do in order to create a sensation. Nevertheless, the big question is why the Pope chose to include that remark in his lecture?

If you are trying to promote interfaith dialogue with Islam over the topic of violence, why would you quote from an emperor who lived at a time when – after centuries of crusades – hostility between Christians and Muslims was at a high point? Could this emperor possibly have an objective view of Islam? So why quote him in a speech that is supposedly meant to build bridges and promote dialogue?

Using the statement that Mohammed has brought nothing but things that are “evil and inhuman” is not likely to foster dialogue. Furthermore, it is a statement that is patently false. We of the ascended masters are in no way blind to the violence created by Islam, but we also see that this religion has brought much good and has brought many people closer to God. Thus, for the Pope to use this statement is simply unintelligent.

The ascended masters also clearly see the violence committed by Christians, much of which was created by the very church the Pope represents. In fact, it is undeniable that Christians have caused more violence and killing than Muslims. Even the Catholic Church itself has caused more violence than the entire religion of Islam. Could the Pope possibly have “forgotten” this? Or does he think the Crusades were justified on the part of Christians?

Obviously, in today’s age Muslims have turned more violent and Christians have become less violent. Nevertheless, before you attempt to create interfaith dialogue, you should – especially when you claim to be a representative of Christ – remove the beam in your own eye before you address the mote in the eye of a brother. And this the current Pope has not done and neither did his predecessor. I am aware that the Catholic Church has modified its outer behavior to become less violent, yet the underlying belief that caused violence in previous centuries has not been completely removed from the Church.

It is a simple fact that if you talk about interfaith dialogue while still maintaining the belief that your religion is superior, then you are acting as a hypocrite. The Catholic Church is still based on the following assumptions:

  • Christianity is the only way to salvation and all people who are not baptized will go to Hell.
  • The Catholic Church is the only true Christian church.
  • The Pope is the only true representative of Christ on earth.

It is not my intention here to comment on the validity of these claims as I have done so throughout this website, Link 1 , Link 2. Yet even a person who believes the claims are valid should be willing to admit that if you believe that your religion is the only true religion and that all people should be converted to it, you cannot at the same time honestly engage in interfaith dialogue. The real purpose of interfaith dialogue should be to foster understanding between religions that can lead to mutual respect and peaceful coexistence. So as long as both the Catholic Church and Islamic leaders hold on to the belief that their religion is the only true one, there can be no meaningful interfaith dialogue. There can be no peaceful coexistence between groups who claim exclusivity and seek to convert everyone.

Take note that I am not hereby saying that interfaith dialogue is worthless. On the contrary, many of the people who are engaging in such dialogue have already let go of the belief in exclusivity and superiority. Therefore, such talks are essential for reducing the tension between religions. Nevertheless, unless people also address the topic of exclusivity, there is a very real limit to how far such dialogue can go. I talk about this in much more detail in the book Beyond Religious Conflict.

So, in the case of Christians, there will be no real progress in interfaith dialogue until the Christian community is willing to openly and honestly address the issue of whether Christianity is the only true religion and whether all non-believers will “burn forever in hell.” Until that happens, I will consider that those who claim to be my followers are acting as hypocrites and refusing to remove the beam in their own eye. For I tell you that the belief that the outer religion of Christianity is the only road to salvation is the major beam in the eye of the worldwide Christian community.

Kim: So do you think the Pope should apologize for using the quote?

Jesus: A good question—as they say when they really have no answer.

I think the Pope should have had enough sense not to use the quote. Now that the act cannot be undone, one could say that apologizing would be an act of humility and an admission that he made a mistake. Yet for the Pope to admit that he made a mistake would be seen by many Catholics as undermining the claim that he is the true representative of Christ and that the Catholic Church is the only true church. Thus, the Pope could reason that in order to maintain the integrity of his church, he should not apologize. I am not saying I agree with this, I am simply describing the temptation facing the Pope.

Objectively speaking, the Pope has no need to apologize as he has not caused any offense. It is Muslims who have chosen to take offense and it is a fact that Muslims are far too prone to take offense. Thus, apologizing could be seen as submitting to the obvious attempt from Muslim leaders to use the threat of violence to bully world opinion into remaining silent on the violent side of Islam.

On a practical note, no amount of apologies will silence the outspoken clerics of Islam, as their agenda clearly is to spread Islam to the entire world with all means they think are acceptable. And as long as they are not willing to remove the beam of superiority from their own eyes, nothing but the West’s total submission will satisfy them.

So my answer is that I have no answer. What often happens on earth is that because people are blinded by the duality consciousness of the human ego, they create situations where there is no ideal outcome. Thus, it is impossible to come up with a quick and easy solution that will fix this situation. Whether the Pope apologizes or not, it will make no substantial difference.

What would make a difference was that the situation was used to foster real dialogue and attention on the problem of exclusivity that I described above. However, I predict that this is unlikely to happen as the world press and most people involved with this debate are currently too superficial in their thinking to even fathom the problem.

Nevertheless, there is always a potential that a conflict like this will focus attention on a problem and bring certain things out in the open where people can finally see them for what they are. Thus, I am ever hopeful that situations like this will help some people on both sides see the beam in their own eye more clearly.

Jesus comments on the cartoons depicting Mohammed

TOPICS: Clarity and honesty before you can change – how do people come to a turning point? – if they don’t listen within, only an outer crisis can show the need for change – masters will precipitate crisis to help us see the need for change – the cartoons represent one such crisis and it shows the need for change – Islam has become as rigid as Christianity – the Islamic world is at the same stage of development as medieval Europe – change is inevitable – when people will not change, they feel threatened – Muslims feel threatened by the more rapidly changing West – projecting your own state of consciousness upon God – think you have to fight other people who don’t accept your beliefs – you think you will be rewarded for violating God’s laws – you think you have to do what God isn’t doing – Muslim leaders have not sufficiently spoken against violence – the masters use people who are open – why this happened in Denmark – Muslim world is a smoldering volcano – a Muslim double standard – opportunity for Muslims to prove they are as peaceful as they say – if your faith is hurt, it is not strong – misunderstandings about idol worship – what the Koran really says as opposed to what people want it to say – many Muslims have started the process of self-examination – you cannot maintain a free society without free debate – hidden western intolerance – western nations need a new debate about spirituality and society – Muslims stereotype themselves when they commit violence in the name of Allah – prove the world wrong by responding with non-violence – the offense is in your mind –

Question from Kim: Jesus, I would like to hear your input on the cartoons with caricatures of the prophet Mohammed, originally published in a Danish newspaper. Obviously, having grown up in Denmark, I am interested in hearing whether you think the cartoons should have been published and why it happened in Denmark. But on a broader scale, I would like to know how you assess the entire situation and the reaction from both Muslims and the West.

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels: (February 3, 2006)

Let us look at the big picture. The ascended masters are the spiritual teachers of humankind. It is our assignment from God to help all people raise their consciousness. Raising your consciousness is not something that can be forced or faked; it must come from within because you – meaning an individual, a group of people, even humanity as a whole – make the decision to change. Yet before you can decide to change, you must come to a point of clarity, where you see that you need to change and how you need to change. And you must come to a point of honesty, where you decide that you are willing to change, that you are willing to leave behind your old state of consciousness.

In practicality, this means that people must see and admit that their old state of consciousness, including part of their belief system, is incomplete or incorrect—it needs to be expanded or replaced. What does it take for people to get to that turning point? You have two extremes:

  • One is that people are willing to change, willing to grow. They see the need to change through honest and open self-examination. To this end, we have given a number of spiritual teachings, including the teachings that formed the basis for the major world religions. Although it will shock and dismay some Christians, I count the teachings of the Koran among such transformational tools. Anyone who openly examines himself in the light of the profound teachings in the Koran will attain the Christ consciousness and will thus overcome the anger, aggression and fear that springs from the consciousness of anti-christ. Many Muslims, especially Sufis, have proven this point beyond doubt. My larger point is, however, that when people are willing to change, they gladly apply the tools we give them.
  • The other extreme is that people are unwilling to change. Thus, when we give them transformational tools, people do not use the tools to transform their state of consciousness. Instead, they use their state of consciousness to transform the tools. They use a pure spiritual teaching to create a rigid and dogmatic religion that they use to justify why they don’t have to change. They actually use their religion to justify why they do not have to look for and remove the beam in their own eyes. And this inevitably causes them to focus on the splinter they see in the eyes of another, using their religion to justify making their neighbors change rather than changing themselves. Psychologists call this mechanism for scape-goating, and is is as old as Cain (actually even older).

My point is that when people refuse to use a spiritual teaching for self-examination, the teaching can no longer bring them to the point of clarity, to the turning point. So what can bring such people to see that they need to change? In most cases only one thing, namely the precipitation of some kind of crisis or conflict that makes it obvious that people’s actions and beliefs are hypocritical, inconsistent or out of touch with their spiritual teaching. We might say that the beam in people’s eye becomes so big that they can no longer ignore it.

As the spiritual teachers of humankind, we are charged with helping people see that they need to change. We prefer to do this the easy way, but if that does not work, we will seek to precipitate a flash-point or crisis that exposes people’s behavior or beliefs. By making things obvious, by bringing out what is normally hidden or unrecognized, we hope to help people see the beam in their own eyes.

When I walked the earth 2,000 years ago, I first attempted to help people change by giving them a teaching or an example. Yet when that did not work, I would often provoke or challenge them in order to bring out in them what they were reluctant to see. I provoked the scribes and Pharisees by calling them hypocrites, I overturned the tables of the money changers, I healed on the sabbath. In fact, my entire mission – including that I allowed myself to be crucified in the hands of those who would not change – was an attempt to make obvious the fact that people needed to change their consciousness by facing their own fear, anger and hatred.

In the centuries after my mission, those who were not willing to change themselves took my teachings and turned them into a rigid and dogmatic religion. They became as fanatical as the people who persecuted and killed me, yet they claimed to have the authority of Christ behind their beliefs and actions. This led to the indisputable historical fact that the Catholic Church became a totalitarian institution. It has been said that all power corrupts and that absolute power corrupts absolutely. With absolute power I mean that no one can question or speak out against the people in power. And when people can exercise power without being held accountable, you will inevitably see the abuse of power.

Thus, there were centuries when a cartoonist drawing a caricature of Christ would have been burned by the stake by those who claimed to be the only representatives of Christ on earth. Did these people really believe that I, an ascended master, could be offended by anything said by human beings? Did they really think that I, the teacher who told my followers to turn the other cheek and forgive seventy times seven, would want them to kill those who supposedly offended me? They did, but this shows the depth of their spiritual blindness. They had projected their own state of consciousness, their own fear, anger and hatred, upon me, and they thought I was made in their own image and likeness.

It should be obvious to any thinking person that these people were completely out of touch with the true message of Christ. Therefore, we of the ascended masters clearly were looking for ways to help the people in Medieval Europe see the fallibility of the so-called infallible Catholic doctrines. In other words, though the original spiritual teachings of Christ were given to set people free, those teachings had now been perverted and turned into a tool for imprisoning people’s minds. The only way to help people be free was to help them see the fallacy of some Catholic doctrines and help them question the infallibility of the outer religion.

Two things helped bring this about. One is that the blind leaders of the church took their blindness to the extreme in the Inquisition. The brutality of this event caused many people to open their eyes to the gaping chasm between the teachings and example of Christ and the actions of those who claimed to represent Christ. The other event was the emergence of science that brought certain Catholic doctrines into question. Contrary to what many Christians think, we of the ascended masters inspired several of the early scientists and we did so precisely to set people’s minds free from the prison created by Catholic doctrines.

When you look at this situation from our perspective, it looks as follows. People in Medieval Europe had been imprisoned in a mental prison created by church doctrines and fear. It was our assignment from God to help people escape that prison. To do this, we needed to help people see beyond the beliefs that imprisoned them, we needed to bring people to the point of being willing to question these beliefs and admit that they had to change. Given the situation as it was, who were the people we could work with to bring forth new ideas that would help people see that their beliefs needed to change? The answer is obvious, namely the early scientists. Unfortunately, many of today’s scientists have used science to create another mental prison, called materialism, which makes it impossible for us to use most scientists to bring humanity to the next level—but that is another story.

What has this got to do with the present uproar over a few cartoons published by a newspaper in a small country that never offended anyone? Well, from an overall perspective you have a situation in which two cultures, the Islamic culture and the western secular culture, both need to change. Yet both are reluctant to change, each thinking it is so advanced or right that it doesn’t need to change. By bringing the two together, the inevitable clash forces people to face the need to change, thus giving both an opportunity to look in the mirror and face the beam in their own eye. So from the perspective of helping people change, the clash can be seen as an opportunity for growth. As always, the actual outcome depends on whether people will be willing to change or whether they will cling to the old ways—and that is the essential problem on earth.

Let us take a look at the current state of Islam. For anyone who is willing to look at the historical facts, it should be obvious that Islam has followed a parallel track to what I just described for the Catholic Church. Those who were not willing to change themselves took the teachings given by Archangel Gabriel through Mohammed and projected their own state of consciousness upon them. They turned the transformational teachings of the Koran into a rigid and dogmatic belief system.

As I explain elsewhere, the Koran was originally given to help people in the Arab world overcome their warring ways. As I said earlier, anyone who uses the teachings in the Koran as a tool for self-examination, will overcome all anger, hatred or the desire for revenge. In fact, such a person will overcome all need to take offense over anything done to him/her by other people.

The fact that so many modern Muslims tend to respond with anger, hatred and violence to any real or perceived offense is a clear sign that Islam has moved as far away from the original intent of Archangel Gabriel and Allah as the medieval church had moved away from my teachings. If you are willing to draw the obvious historical parallels, you will see that Islam today – and the Arab world – is in many ways at the same stage of development as the Catholic Church and Europe at the end of the middle ages.

If there is one lesson that history should have taught all perceptive people, it is that change is inevitable. When you look at medieval Europe with modern eyes, it should be obvious that things had to change and that the wheels of time would inevitably bring this change about. People could resist it for a while, and the Catholic Church was one of the major factors that did postpone change. Yet in retrospect, change was inevitable. The old, restricted society simply had to give way for a freer, more flexible way of life. The more people or institutions resisted the change, the more pressure was built and the pressure eventually shattered the individuals and institutions that resisted change. Had the Catholic church been more flexible, it would not have lost so much credibility and influence and the western world might have found a more mature approach to the role of religion in society.

If you are willing to transfer this to the current Muslim world, you will see a society that is steeped in rigidity and is holding on to values and lifestyles that have been left behind by time. The people are suppressed by an elite, they do not have self-determination, there is no equal economic opportunity and the plight of women in Muslim nations is simply out of step with time. This must change, and the wheels of time are grinding away with absolutely no respect for human feelings and people’s unwillingness to change.

Yet when people resist change, they feel threatened by the wheels of time and this inevitably leads to fear. When people are not willing to change themselves, they cannot adapt to the winds of change, and thus they fear they could only lose their old lifestyle instead of attaining a better one. This leads to a sense of powerlessness, and this inevitably leads to anger. When people are not willing to change themselves, they always look for an infallible justification for not changing themselves.

In medieval Europe, Catholic doctrine provided this justification, and in today’s Arab countries, fundamentalist or conservative Islam provides it for many people. When people feel they have infallible justification for not changing themselves, then other people who are changing themselves will be seen as a threat. Thus, people’s – self-created – powerlessness will be directed into hatred for those people who are changing and thus threatening the illusion that you don’t have to change.

In this case, the powerlessness that many Muslims feel is directed against the West, which is – at least to a higher degree – flowing with the necessary planetary changes. For many Muslims, the West brings out their worst fears of what changes would mean for their own society. And because they have used a misinterpretation of the Koran to justify not changing themselves, they inevitably see the situation as a battle between the West and Islam. They feel that the West is out to destroy their infallible religion and impose its culture upon them. Thus, they fail to see the obvious alternative that Muslim nations could change without repeating some of the mistakes – including unbalanced secularization – made in the West.

Yet the real problem here is that fundamentalist Muslims have followed the historical pattern of fundamentalists in every religion – even many of today’s fundamentalist Christians – of projecting their own state of consciousness upon their prophet and their God. They think that because they are angry, Mohammed and Allah are angry. They think that because they feel threatened by the West, Mohammed and Allah feel threatened by the West. They think that because they feel offended by a cartoon in a western newspaper, Mohammed and Allah feel offended.

And they think it now becomes their holy duty to destroy the threat to their religion—thus failing to see that what they are seeking to destroy is the very thing that is forcing them to change themselves. They are – as are all people who engage the dualistic battle – fighting something in themselves.

The inevitable effect of this is spiritual blindness, which causes people to think that they are no longer bound by the laws of God. In other words, they think that even though the laws of God clearly say “Thou shallt not kill,” the offense to their religion makes it justified in the eyes of God that they kill the offenders. They not only think they can escape being held accountable for their actions, they even think God will reward them. That is why it is entirely appropriate that one of the cartoons depict Mohammed as saying to a group of suicide bombers approaching heaven’s gate: “Stop, stop, we are out of virgins.”

The belief that Allah would reward anyone for violating his own laws against killing will only remove Muslims further from their God. If Allah could be offended, he would be far more offended by this belief than any of the cartoons. Surely, it should be possible for people to see that a prophet would be far more concerned about the actions of those who claim to follow him than about the actions of those who are not his followers.

If such people truly believed in the teachings of the Koran, they would believe that Allah is almighty and all-powerful. Thus, an all-powerful God is perfectly capable of punishing – even destroying – a tiny nation like Denmark if it has offended him. Yet apparently these people do not believe that Allah is capable of doing so, which is why they take it upon themselves to do what Allah obviously is not doing. Thus, they appoint themselves as the “defenders” of Allah, who have to do for him what he – for a reason they prefer not to contemplate – is not doing for himself.

As I said earlier, if you truly understand the Koran, you will know that Allah is completely beyond being offended by anything on earth. Allah does not need to punish people, for they punish themselves when they go against his laws. By going against the laws of Allah, you separate yourself from him, and that is the severest form of “punishment” there is.

A person who truly understands the Koran will become completely surrendered to the will of Allah, who is unmoved – and cannot be offended – by anything on earth. Thus, a true Muslim will know that killing someone in the name of Allah or in the defense of his prophet is a far greater violation of Allah’s laws than drawing a cartoon. The Muslims who seek revenge in the name of Allah are actually going against his laws, and thus they are separating themselves from him—just as the Christians who killed in my name were setting themselves apart from me by their own state of consciousness.

So if you look at the state of modern Islam from the perspective of the ascended masters, which includes the founders of Islam, you see that many Muslims are trapped in a mental prison. How can we help people escape this prison? Only by bringing them to the point where they are willing to do some honest self-examination and consider whether their beliefs and actions are truly in alignment with the true teachings of Islam. What can bring people to this point?

One way is the hard way, namely that the extremists act out their extremism until it becomes so obvious that most people should be able to see it. This is precisely what happened in the September 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center and subsequent terrorist attacks fueled by extremist Muslim anger. These attacks were in no way supported or condoned by the ascended masters. Nevertheless, they were a wake-up call that presented both the western world and the Muslim world with a very urgent call for self-examination.

After the attacks, you saw some Muslim leaders distance themselves from terrorism and claim that Islam is a peaceful religion. Yet it is a fact that since then the Muslim leadership has not put forth a consistent and determined effort to speak out against violence committed in the name of Allah. Thus, these very leaders bear part of the responsibility for the continued violence, just as medieval Catholic leaders bore the responsibility for the atrocities committed during the crusades and the inquisition. There is an – unstated and unaddressed – belief among too many Muslims that violence can be justified when it comes to defending their religion, its prophet and its God. It is precisely this belief that has now been exposed in the anger and hatred against these cartoons of Mohammed.

This brings us to your question of why this happened in Denmark. Let is be stated clearly that we of the ascended masters are constantly seeking for positive, non-violent ways to help Muslims (and all people) recognize the urgent need for self-examination. We are therefore looking for people who can serve as instruments for pointing out this need. Therefore, the original idea behind these cartoons was, in fact, the result of the editors of the Danish newspaper tuning in to the intentions of the ascended masters. I am not thereby saying that we inspired or necessarily approve of the way the cartoons were executed—that was left to the free will and creativity of the individual artists.

Yet the original intention of the newspaper editors was to point out the need for debate and the fact that the western world has self-imposed a virtual censorship when it comes to issues relating to Islam. Thus Islam has – in practicality – become a taboo in western media. This is close to elevating Islam to the status of absolute power, which – as I pointed out earlier – will inevitably have negative consequences. The ascended masters fully support the intention to open up – even provoke – a debate about this issue and the tension between Islam and the West.

Why did this happen in Denmark? For two reasons. Denmark has a long-standing tradition for freedom of speech, which has often resulted in Danish people and artists making fun of authority figures. During the Nazi occupation, people made fun of the Germans, even at the risk of their lives. Not all countries have this tradition, and thus not all countries could have been an instrument for this purpose.

The other factor is that Danes have a long-standing tradition for making fun of themselves. This has resulted in a national character that causes most people to rarely take themselves or anything else too seriously. The Danes have such a tradition for this that they simply could not imagine that Muslims would be so offended by these cartoons. In my view, it is healthy when a people do not take themselves too seriously, and you will see that many nations in the world are actually moving in the direction of being able to laugh at themselves. The Danes are in the forefront of this, and that is why they could become the instruments in this situation.

I am well aware that the Danish people are very reluctant to take a stand for or against anything. Had they not been blinded by their own sense of humor, they would never have published these cartoons. And had they known what they know today, they most certainly would not have published them. Nevertheless, the situation is an example of how people can – even unwittingly – become the instruments for bringing a taboo out into the open so that people can no longer ignore the issue.

Having said that, the Danes also have something to learn from the situation. They need to learn that even when you live in a small country, you sometimes have to take a stand—even if it offends the big world. Danes also need to realize that their mentality has caused them to be very self-centered, thus making them insensitive to the attitudes and beliefs of other people. This is a factor that makes it more difficult for immigrants of any background to integrate into Danish society, and it would be beneficial for all parties if the Danes came out of their “fairy tale world.”

My point is that the entire situation is an opportunity for all – both western nations who tiptoe around the issue of Islam and Muslims everywhere – to face the need to overcome the taboo and openly debate the clash between Islam and western civilization. If this issue is not debated openly, the tension will simply continue to mount, and it can in its extreme lead to World War III between Muslim and western nations.

Kim: I understand clearly that the newspaper did not intend to offend Islam and that it only meant to prove the point of the unwillingness to debate the issue. Yet many people have said that given the tension between the Muslim world and the West, this was an unnecessary provocation that only brought World War III closer. What would you say to that?

Jesus: The indisputable fact is that the Muslim world is like a smoldering volcano. The mounting anger among Muslim people is like a pool of lava that is right under the surface, ready to break through at the slightest weakness in the surface. This is a volatile situation that will inevitably lead to an outbreak sooner or later. The only chance of avoiding war is to diffuse this tension through non-violent means.

As you have seen with the war in Iraq, many Muslims feel that when a Muslim country is attacked or threatened by violence, it is fully justified that they respond with violence. This is the Old Testament philosophy of “an eye for an eye” which became obsolete when I inaugurated the new age of Pisces and the Christian dispensation of turning the other cheek.

You would be surprised to know how many “ordinary” people and leaders of Muslim countries are silently approving of the insurgency in Iraq—even despite the fact that they kill civilians – Muslims – to make a political point. My point is that you have people who are simply looking for an excuse to respond with violence. So if a provocation had been based on violence – as when Israel responds violently to the Palestinians – Muslims will use violence in retaliation.

What was unique about the cartoons is that they are a non-violent measure. Thus, many Muslims have come to question whether it is justified – according to both common sense and Islamic law and tradition – to respond with violence. Given the volatility of the situation, there is no guarantee that it will not lead to violence. Yet in any event, this will only serve to further expose the anger and hatred that Muslim people need to confront in themselves. Compare the situation to the British occupation of India and how Ghandi and his followers used non-violent protests to make the British empire face what they had been unwilling to see in themselves.

The stark fact is that many political and religious leaders in Muslim countries have complained that the cartoons picture Mohammed as the stereotype of a Muslim terrorist. They claim this is offensive because Islam is a peaceful religion. Yet the violent reactions to the cartoons disproves these claims. Let me mention a couple of examples:

  • Some religious and political leaders have stated that the Danish government should restrain the press. Yet many media outlets in the Arab world have encouraged anger, even violence, and the boycott of western products. These same leaders have not spoken out against or sought to restrict their own press—even though some have the legal authority to do so which the Danish government does not.
  • You see people in the streets of Muslim nations demonstrating against the cartoons by burning Danish flags, closing embassies or threatening the lives of westerners. Yet the leaders in those nations are not speaking out against this, taking a stand against violence in any form. If you see violence and do nothing to stop it, you are – in actuality – encouraging it. A representative of a peaceful religion would not do so.
  • Some religious and political leaders in Muslim countries have encouraged the boycott of Danish products while very few have spoken out against this. A boycott only punishes companies and employees – meaning regular people – who had nothing to do with the cartoons. This is lumping all Danes or all westerners in the same category as those who supposedly caused offense.

Two things are wrong with this attitude. First of all, it is stereotyping people, which is what Muslims claim is being done to them when people in the West see all Muslims as terrorists. Second, it is being willing to punish everyone in a certain group, even those who had nothing to do with the incident. If this kind of mentality had been common in the West, the American government would have deported all Muslims after September 11, 2001. Of course, most Muslims would have felt this was highly unjust—as it would have been. However, most Muslims do not see that they are quick to adopt the very same attitude that they do not want to have directed at themselves. Do unto others . . .

Muslims take offense when western media depicts them or their faith in a non-favorable light. Yet the media in many Muslim nations regularly depict westerners and Jews in a non-favorable light. Few in the Muslim world speak out against this.

It is a fact that many Muslims believe their faith is the only true religion, and they have little respect for other religions, even though the Koran clearly acknowledges the prophets of both the Old and New Testament. Obviously, some Christians feel the same about their religion, but this consciousness of exclusivity and superiority is behind the times and it must go.

My point is that many among the Muslim press, the political and religious leaders and the people have a double standard. They believe other people should live up to their standard, but they are not willing to follow it themselves, nor are they willing to see that they are not following it. This is exactly what I addressed when I challenged the scribes and the Pharisees 2,000 years ago. I used one word to characterize their actions: “Oh ye hypocrites!” That word has not lost its relevance.

The fact is that this situation was the perfect opportunity for Muslims everywhere to demonstrate that they can respond peacefully to a situation that offends their religion. Unfortunately, the debate has so far been dominated by those who failed to take this opportunity. Yet I remain hopeful that we will begin to hear from the more moderate and open-minded Muslims—those who have the potential to bring Islam and the Arab world into the modern age.

Kim: What do you think about the Pakistani Parliament stating that many people’s faith had been hurt by the cartoons?

Jesus: If your faith in your religion can be hurt by a cartoon in a newspaper – or anything else said by anyone on earth – then your faith obviously isn’t very strong. Yet why isn’t your faith strong? Because you have an incomplete understanding of the spiritual teachings behind your religion, causing you to have internal contradictions and inconsistencies in your beliefs.

You have these contradictions because you have not thought deeply enough about your faith. And you have not thought deeply because you have subscribed to the superficial approach which says that you do not have to change, you do not have to examine yourself, you do not have to pull the beam from your own eye. You only have to affirm outer doctrines and follow outer rules, and then you will automatically be saved—without having to change your state of consciousness through self-examination. This is what the Old Testament calls the way that seemeth right unto a man, but the ends thereof are the ways of death.

When you take this approach, you subconsciously know your faith is shaky, and that is why you feel threatened when your faith is questioned in any way. You want your religion to be raised to the status of infallibility, of being above questioning. However, this is not out of true reverence for your God, it is to avoid having to examine yourself. As I said, you have projected your own state of consciousness upon your religion, and you are now using your religion to justify not pulling the beam from your own eye.

Kim: Many people have said that the cartoons went way over the edge by striking at the very heart of Islam. What is your comment on that?

Jesus: First of all, they had to strike at the heart of Muslim beliefs in order to provoke the debate. There would have been no debate had the issue not gone to the very core. You will notice that the debate did not gather momentum until several months after the original publication.

In reality these cartoons do not strike at the heart of Islam—at least not the original teachings of the Koran. It is true that Islamic law and tradition states that it is forbidden to create an image of Mohammed and Allah. Yet you will find no direct statements in the Koran that express this view. You will find warnings against idol worship, which Muslim clerics have interpreted to mean that images are forbidden. Yet this is an interpretation imposed upon the Koran, and it goes beyond the original intent. There are several problems with this interpretation:

  • The cartoons did not depict Allah, but only Mohammed. Yet in the Muslim mind, the two are the same. If you insult Mohammed, you have insulted Allah. This is elevating the prophet – who is merely a human instrument – to the same status as the God he serves. As I said, the servant is not greater than his Lord. Obviously, some Christian churches have elevated me to the same status as God or have portrayed me as being God. Yet this is against my own statements, and it is clearly a form of blasphemy. Thus, the Christians who do this to me and the Muslims who do it to Mohammed are engaging in idol worship.
  • Even if the cartoons had depicted Allah, it would not have been blasphemy. If you truly understand the teachings of the Koran, you will see that the benevolent and ever-merciful Allah can never be offended by anything people do. If people violate his law, they simply separate themselves from him and thus punish themselves.
  • The teachings in the Koran that warn against idol worship are true and parallel the first two of the Ten Commandments in the Old Testament. However, an idol or a graven image does not simply mean an outer portrayal. The reality is that the supreme God is beyond his creation and thus beyond any words or images that could possibly be used to describe him. However, this does not mean that it is necessarily wrong to describe or depict God. What is wrong is when people take an image or a doctrine and elevate it to the status of infallibility. If you take a limited image and say that it gives a complete and infallible depiction of God, then you have created an idol. And if you refuse to revise your belief in the infallibility of the image and refuse to expand your view of God, you have taken unto yourself a graven image, meaning an image that does not change and therefore can never lead you to the true God who is beyond all images.
  • The fact is that idol worship is more than an outer image. It is a state of mind. It begins in the mind and it can be overcome only in the mind by removing the beam – the graven image – from your own eye. Idol worship begins with the creation of a mental image that you elevate to the status of infallibility. You may project this image upon an outer statue or you may project it on a religious scripture or an interpretation of that scripture. Yet it is the mental image that imprisons your mind and thus keeps you from knowing the true God who is beyond all images in this world.
My point is that when Christians elevated me to the status of being equal to God, they created a mental idol. When Muslims elevate Mohammed to the same status as Allah, they turn him into an idol. And when they create a mental image that Allah can be offended by human beings and that he will respond with anger and hatred as they do, then they have created an idol of God. Thus, many of the Muslims who cry blasphemy are, in reality, guilty of blasphemy. Their idols simply reside in their own minds rather than in outer images, but they still keep them from knowing the true Allah who cannot be confined to any mental image. The “god” who is offended by the cartoons is not the true Allah but a man-made God.
  • The basic issue here is that Muslims need to take a long look in the mirror. They need to compare their reactions and their actions to what is actually said in the Koran. They even need to compare some of their interpretations and doctrines to what is said in the Koran. They need to look at what the Koran really says and not what they want it to say—so that they can continue to justify not removing the beam from their own eyes.

Many of the more moderate – I prefer to call them open-minded and true – Muslims have already begun this process. This is especially true for many of the Muslims living in western nations. I continue to hold the immaculate concept that this situation will become a catalyst for a more open and free debate about the many issues involved in the friction between Islamic and western culture. I hold the concept that this debate will eventually lead to a diffusion of the tension and the emergence of mutual understanding, so that we do not have to see a modern reenactment of the crusades. However, this will only happen if the moderate and open-minded Muslims begin to speak out and challenge the extremists who have so far dominated the exchange between Islam and the West.

Kim: What do western people need to learn from the situation?

Jesus: One of the main lessons is that you cannot maintain a free society if you create taboos in your mind and if you have issues that you are afraid to debate freely. The fact is that the large number of Muslim immigrants in many western nations has created a tension and a clash of cultures. As you clearly saw from the recent riots in France, this has built up a tension that will inevitably lead to confrontation—that is, if it is not diffused through a free debate that leads to mutual understanding.

I am fully aware that many people in the West, including political leaders and media people, have felt too intimidated by the threat of Muslim violence to openly debate the issues. Yet the fact is that most of the Muslims in western countries are not extremists, and you are not doing them a service by tiptoeing around the issues without addressing them. Thus, the reluctance to offend will in itself become an offense—hurting everyone.

The other main lesson is that western people need to look in the mirror. Many European nations – including Denmark – think they are very tolerant. Yet the influx of Muslims in recent decades has exposed an underlying intolerance that has not yet been openly addressed. This is actually a major reason why western countries have been reluctant to debate the issue openly. Too many people have not been willing to face their intolerance, so it is easier to ignore the issue.

For there to be a free and open debate about this issue, westerners must be willing to face their own lack of tolerance. It is very easy to be tolerant of other cultures while you have them at a safe distance. It is quite different to be tolerant when you have people from other cultures as your neighbors. I hold the immaculate vision that westerners will be willing to look in the mirror as a result of this conflict and work on overcoming their intolerance of that which is too different from their comfortable way of life.

The only long-term solution is that Muslim immigrants become integrated into western culture without losing their Muslim faith. Yet for that to happen, two hurdles must be overcome:

  • The Muslim immigrants will have to adapt their approach to religion to the realities of the 21st century and the realities of western society. Expecting that you can move to Europe and live as if you were still in the middle East is simply out of touch with reality. If you do not want to adapt to your new country, go back or go somewhere else.
  • westerners will have to be willing to face their own lack of tolerance by admitting that they are not as tolerant as they like to think they are. This will also require them to overcome their subtle disrespect for Islam as a religion, a feeling that is fueled by the Christian illusion of religious superiority or the secular world view that there is no God and that religion is a thing of the past.

Incidentally, many westerners could be inspired by the Muslims and their commitment to a more spiritual lifestyle than what has become the norm in the overly secularized European nations. And because many western people have already gone through the transformation to the modern world, they are in a position to help their Muslim neighbors make that transition—if a free and respectful debate can be created.

My point is that if there is no dialogue, or if there is not a free and open dialogue, everyone suffers. Yet when there is openness, everyone benefits. And when there is openness, there is no need for flash-points – such as these cartoons – to force people to face their taboos.

From a bigger perspective, most western nations have not had a mature debate about the role of religion in society. For example, people have not processed the role of religion in the past, including the Catholic Church and its abuses. Again, a main cause is that people are not willing to face the beam in their own eyes, so it has been easier to ignore the issue and let nations slide toward secularism. However, this has led to many undesirable consequences, including a sense of purposelessness, leading to depression and addiction.

We might say that for Islam the need of the hour is to overcome religious extremism and for the West the need is to overcome extreme secularism. Thus, both need to find a more mature and balanced approach to the role of spirituality in society, and both could learn from each other.

Kim (February 4, 2006): What is your comment on the fact that the Danish embassy in Syria was burned to the ground today?

Jesus: Many Muslims have taken great offense to one cartoon that depicts Mohammed with a bomb in his turban. Yet the point of this cartoon – and the intent behind all of the cartoons – is to show that – because of the undeniable terrorist acts and numerous threats by extremist Muslims – people in the West have come to see Islam as something they need to tiptoe around. Western people simply expect Muslims to respond with violence to any provocation.

As I said above, it is an undeniable fact that Muslim clerics and political leaders have not made a clear and determined effort to discourage violence in the name of their religion. The burning of an embassy – and the burning of the Chilean embassy which had nothing to do with the situation – simply reinforces the stereotype that when Muslims are offended, they respond with indiscriminate violence.

It is quite understandable that many people in the West have this impression—and only Muslims who are blinded by their own anger can fail to see this. If Muslims want to change this impression, they should demonstrate that they can respond peacefully to a provocation.

As I said, a cartoon is a non-violent measure, and this would have been the perfect opportunity for the Muslim world to object to an affront to their religion through peaceful means. The Muslim world as a whole has so far failed this test. When violence breaks out, how can Muslims expect people in other cultures to change their view of Islam and overcome their stereotypes of Muslims as bomb-throwing religious fanatics? How can you expect that other people will change their view of you if you are not willing to change yourself? This simply is not realistic.

I know very well that most Muslims are not violent or extremist. Therefore, it is understandable that they don’t want to be stereotyped as extremists. Yet by not speaking out against the extremism on their own doorstep, it is virtually inevitable that the radical Muslims will be the face that Islam shows to the world. I am not saying it is right for western people to stereotype Muslims. I am simply saying that Muslims should be willing to recognize that if they want the world’s perception of them to change, they must begin by changing themselves. Prove the world wrong by responding with non-violence. If you respond with violence, you only prove the world right.

The fact is that if Muslims want to truly honor Allah and his prophet, they should conduct themselves in a way that increases international understanding and respect for Islam as a peaceful religion that is more concerned about people’s eternal salvation than issues here on earth.

Kim: What do you think about other newspapers reprinting of the cartoons?

Jesus: The papers showed they were willing to take a stand for one of the foundations of a free society, namely freedom of speech. Imagine that all media outlets in the world did the same. Where would Muslims direct their anger—against the entire world? Sure the extremists are already doing so, but that is precisely what needs to be exposed as against the very foundations of Islam.

The Muslims who objected to the cartoons – even months after their publication – were responsible for turning it into an international news issue. How can you expect the press not to report on an issue that provokes demonstrations and death threats? Had the Muslims responded peacefully, there would have been no need to reprint the cartoons as few papers would have felt the need to defend freedom of speech. They would instead have opted for showing respect for the Muslims who deserved respect because of their peaceful response.

It is hypocritical to report on this issue without showing at least some of the cartoons. How can a media outlet report a story to its customers without letting them see what caused the incident so they can decide for themselves? It is like asking Christians to believe in Christ without letting them read the Bible in their own language. Or ask people to vote without knowing the candidates.

Kim: So what about the countries, such as Britain and the U.S. where hardly any media outlets have showed the cartoons?

Jesus: They have not been willing to take a stand, hiding behind the excuse of not wanting to offend Islam. This shows clearly that these countries are unwilling to openly debate the issue. They gave in to the Muslim intimidation factor, which proves the validity of publishing the cartoons to draw attention to this problem.

The fact is that these cartoons do not offend Islam, nor do they offend Allah or Mohammed—for they are above being offended by anything on earth. Thus, the cartoons in themselves do not offend Muslims. Nothing I do to you can offend you—unless you choose to take offense. Your offense is not caused by my actions, your offense is caused by what you allow in your mind. I am responsible for my actions but you are responsible for your mind and for your reaction to my actions. God has not made you responsible for the actions of other people, which is why he has not given you the authority to act as the avenger or punisher of other people’s actions. That is why God said, “Vengeance is mine saith the Lord, I will repay.”

The essence of all true religions – including the Koran – is that you must raise yourself above the dualistic consciousness that causes people to take offense. You must let the prince of this world come to you with absolutely anything, and you must remain unmoved by any of his temptations and offenses.

If you do not, you make yourself a slave of the false god of this world, rather than a follower of the true God of heaven—whether you call him Allah, God, YOD HE WAV HE, Brahma or anything else. You cannot worship the true God by projecting the human consciousness upon him.

Many Muslims are following a false god of anger and hatred, whereas Allah is a God of unconditional love—which is why he is called ever-merciful. You must use a true teaching to raise yourself above the consciousness of hatred, so you can have a direct experience of God’s love. This is the central message of Islam—let those who have ears hear.

NOTE: Jesus gave further comments on this issue in another answer.

Does Allah approve of Jihad?

TOPICS: Koran was given as revelation from Archangel Gabriel – the true purpose of religion – no religion meant to be a warring religion – true nature of God beyond words – why Islam became a warring religion – no one true religion – the way that seems right unto a man – outer and inner struggle – spiritual warfare – the true meaning of Jihad – a warring culture perverted Jihad into a struggle against other people – is a third world war necessary? – overcoming the belief that you should kill people in the name of God – contemplate the command: Thou shallt not kill –

Question: Would it be possible to get clarification from the ascended master level on the term “Jihad.” Now, we know how the terrorists use it to promote their violence against life. But I have heard other interpretations that seems to mean a war within the self, for the higher self to conquer the lower self. There are many Christians who say that the Muslim religion itself is bad. But it seems to me that it is the interpretation of the Muslim religion that is incorrect.

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

Let me begin by commenting on the religion of Islam. Contrary to what many Christians seem to believe, the religion of Islam is a true religion. When I say true religion, I mean a religion which was originally inspired from God, or rather from the ascended masters.

The ascended masters is a body of spiritual beings, many of whom once walked the earth in a physical body and ascended to the spiritual realm. We serve as the spiritual teachers for humankind, and in our roles as teachers, we are the ones releasing new religions and spiritual teachings to humankind. Therefore, Muslims are correct in saying that the Koran was given to man through direct inspiration, or revelation, from Archangel Gabriel.

Let me move on to say that although Islam is a true religion, it is not the only true religion. As I explained in great detail elsewhere, there is more than one true religion. Obviously, both I and all other members of the ascended masters are aware that human beings find it very difficult to accept the concept that there can be more than one true religion. However, this non-acceptance, which inevitably leads to extremism and fanaticism, is a product of man and not a product of God.

Let me state clearly that I am a member of the ascended masters. Archangel Gabriel is also a member of the ascended masters. Therefore, I know full well the original divine intent behind giving the Koran and the true teachings of Islam to humankind. I can assure you that God never meant for Islam to be a warring religion, any more than he meant for Christianity to be a warring religion.

As I explained in my statements about the war in Iraq, there is no cause which, in the eyes of God, justifies the killing of human beings. Let those who have ears hear my words, be they Christians, Jews or Muslims. Here in heaven there is no such thing as a holy war. However, there is such a thing as spiritual warfare, and I will return to it later.

For now let us consider the obvious question of why, almost from the very beginning, Islam has been a warring religion, which advocated that non-believers should be converted or killed. In the new book, Save Yourself, I talk at great length about the true purpose of religion. To summarize the discussion, let me say that true religion is always given by the ascended masters. The purpose of true religion is never to give an absolute, a complete or an infallible doctrine about God.

Human beings are currently in such a low state of consciousness that they simply would not be able to grasp or accept the full truth about God and God’s being. Furthermore, the truth about God’s being could never be described in words, not even the words of a language as rich as Arabic. The true nature and being of God can be known to man, but only through at direct, inner, mystical experience which transcends all words and concepts found on earth.

My point here is that when we of the ascended masters bring forth a new religion or spiritual teaching, it is never our purpose to create “the one true religion” or to give an infallible doctrine. A new spiritual teaching is always given to people in a specific state of consciousness. Therefore, the religious teaching is always adapted to these people’s consciousness, which obviously is deeply affected by the times and circumstances in which they live. Our aim is to give a spiritual teaching which is higher than what these people currently have, but not so much higher that they will be unable to grasp it or unwilling to accept it. In other words, a new spiritual teaching is a measured response to a particular situation, one might say a particular crises in the affairs of men. This was also the case with Islam.

If you will take an objective look at the times and circumstances in which Islam emerged, you will see that it was in many subtle ways adapted to people’s level of consciousness. Therefore, almost from the very beginning certain interpretations were imposed upon the original spiritual teachings which made it appear as if Islam was meant to be the only true religion, replacing all other religions. However, if you take an objective look at history you will see that people from many other religions also imposed this interpretation on their religion, and obviously these claims could not all be true.

Let those who have ears hear my words, and if they are willing to open their hearts to the truth of God, I will now settle, once and for all, the discussion about which religion is the only true religion. Let me state very clearly that if someone claims that his religion is the only true religion, then that person demonstrates beyond any doubt that he has not understood the nature and being of God.

I understand that many fundamentalist people from various religions, including the religion of Islam, will object to this statement. Yet the very essence of Islam is complete surrender to the will of God. If you are truly willing to surrender your all to the will of God, you must be willing to reach for the truth of God. Unless you have the truth of God, how can you know the will of God? And unless you know the will of God, how can you surrender the will of man? The truth of God is, by its very nature, above and beyond all interpretations imposed by man.

It is a central idea on this website that humankind has descended into a lower state of consciousness in which they can no longer see the truth of God. Therefore, they create mental images, they create idols and interpretations, and then they seek to impose them upon the reality created by God. As the scriptures say, God is not mocked, meaning that God’s law and God’s reality is in no way affected by human beliefs and interpretations.

Therefore, I can say, being that I am an ascended master and therefore one with truth, that there are many valid ways that lead to God’s kingdom. However, as I stated 2,000 years ago, there is also a way that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof is the way of death. The way that seems right unto a man is what this website describes as the outer approach to religion. It is this approach that causes people to become fanatical and dogmatic. It is this approach that causes people to fall under the illusion, an illusion that never originated in God, that their religion is the only true one or that it is superior to all others.

The dangerous illusion here is that people engage in an outer struggle to prove that their religion is the only true one. Instead, if they were concerned about their salvation, they should engage in the inner struggle by embracing the inner, mystical teachings of their own religion.

I can assure you that those who embrace this inner path, the straight and narrow path, within the context of any religion will soon discover that religious conflict is the most meaningless all all human conflicts. The only conflict, the only struggle, that has any meaning and validity in the eyes of God is the spiritual struggle, the spiritual warfare, whereby the lifestream fights to overcome the forces that pull it away from the kingdom of God.

These forces include the inner forces of the lower self, the dualistic mind and the human ego, and it is the true goal of Islam, Christianity and all other true religions to offer people a way out of this lower state of consciousness.

This spiritual warfare is the true meaning of Jihad. Jihad was never meant to be an outer warfare, whereby Muslims would engage in the killing of unbelievers. This is a misinterpretation imposed by man, and it was imposed by a warring culture. If you take an objective look at the historical circumstances in which Islam was given, you will see that it was given to people who were deeply divided and who were on the brink of destroying themselves with warfare and decadence. Islam was given in the hope of unifying these people in a surrender to the will of God.

Unfortunately, instead of fully embracing the central message of Islam, namely that of unconditional surrender to the will of God and the truth of God, many Muslims created a mixture of the true teachings of Islam and their warring culture. Thereby, as also happened to the early Christian church and especially through the formation of the Roman Catholic Church, the culture of a warring people became imposed upon the true teachings of Islam.

Instead of being united in a true, spiritual union that can only be brought about through a total surrender to the will of God, the Arab peoples became united in a fight against an outer enemy. These people were not able to let go of their warring culture, and since Islam told them to stop seeing each other as enemies, they had to create and outer enemy, namely nonbelievers. I might say that this particular psychological mechanism is the cause of most of the wars we have seen throughout history, including the wars between Christianity and Islam, the rise of Nazi Germany and the wars between Jews and Arabs that are ongoing to this day.

Let me say again, as I have stated elsewhere, that because of this very psychological mechanism, this unwillingness to surrender to the will and the truth of God, planet earth has become a powder keg. There is a real risk that the world will see a major conflict between Christians, Muslims and Jews.

Can this conflict be avoided? Let me state clearly that human beings alone cannot avoid this conflict. Only the intervention of God can avoid this conflict. Yet God will not intervene and prevent the conflict unless human beings not only ask him to do so, but ask him by demonstrating their willingness to embody the true, inner principles of both Islam, Judaism and Christianity.

What I am saying here is that we of the ascended masters are hoping against hope that a critical mass of Christians, Jews and Muslims will suddenly awaken and decide that it is time to stop the madness. That it is time to take a new approach to religion. That it is time to overcome the belief that you can kill your fellow man in the name of God.

If such an awakening was to happen, I can promise you that we would avoid a large-scale military conflict that could potentially pull this planet into a third World War. Yet I must also tell you that if such an awakening does not happen, and happen very soon, we of the ascended masters do not see how such a war can be avoided.

It is a simple fact that when human beings refuse to surrender their all to the will and the truth of God, they enroll themselves in the school of hard knocks. In this school they must learn by reaping the consequences of their actions, by reaping what they have sown. Those who have sown the wind of religious conflict and fanaticism will reap the whirlwind of military conflict and war.

I for one hope that we do not have to see a third world-wide war in order for people to wake up and let go of the erroneous belief that the end can justify the means and that God condones the killing of other human beings.

Let people wake up and realize that the Old Testament, which is honored by both Muslims, Christians and Jews, clearly states, “Thou shallt not kill.” The Old Testament does not define conditions under which killing is acceptable. The simple reason being that there are no such conditions in the eyes of God.

Let those who have ears, hear these words, and let them decide, be they Muslims, Jews or Christians, to once and for all abandon the concept of a holy war against their fellow man. Let them engage in the holy war against the forces of this world that are working against God’s purposes and trying to prevent the manifestation of God’s kingdom on earth.

Let me make it clear as crystal that the kingdom of God will not manifest on earth as long as human beings believe that they can kill each other in the name of God.

From Christian to Muslim

TOPICS: Salvation is an inner process – no religion can guarantee it – almost any religion can help you attain it – Sufism more suited than mainstream Islam – mystical path of all religions lead to same place –

Question: I just want to know what will happen if a person changes from Christian to Muslim? Does he or she lose everything? what about his or her possessions and money? please give me all the information.

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

If you read the scriptures carefully and make an effort to look beyond the bias with which most Christians were brought up, you will see that I constantly attempted to help people understand that you will not win your salvation by doing outer things. This includes belonging to a particular outer religion and following all its rules and believing all its doctrines. Contrary to what most Christians are willing to admit, this does indeed include the Christian religion.

No power on earth, and that includes any religion known to man and the religious authorities running that religion, can guarantee your salvation. What can guarantee your salvation is the inner quality of your heart, mind and lifestream. That is why I continually told people to change these inner conditions and not worry about the outer conditions. As just one example, look at my teaching that it is not what goes into a man’s mouth that defiles him but what comes out of it. The reason being that what comes out of your mouth comes from the heart, and it is the quality of your heart that will give you entry to heaven or keep you out of heaven. Look at my parable about the man who entered the wedding feast without the wedding garment. And there are many other examples for those were willing to look beyond the mainstream Christian mindset, a mindset that is strikingly similar to the attitude of the scribes and Pharisees, whose righteousness could not get them – or you – into heaven.

With that in mind, there is no reason to assume that anything automatically happens if a person changes from Christianity to Islam or another religion. It all depends on the quality of the person’s heart. It is possible to qualify for your salvation by following the religion of Islam, as explained elsewhere. Yet it is indeed easier to do so if you follow the mystical aspect of Islam, Sufism.

However, if you are willing to follow the mystical aspect of Islam, why not follow the mystical aspect of Christianity, as you find it on my website? After all, the mystical paths of the world’s true religions all lead to the same place. If you follow any one of these paths long enough, you will see that the path you are on begins to merge with the mystical paths that sprang for all of the other true religions.

So you can be saved by following any true religion, but you must still enter heaven through my sacred Heart, as I explain elsewhere.

There is no reason that changing your religion should lead to a loss of possessions or money, unless you live in a society where some people will take your possessions or money because they feel threatened by your change of religion. Yet no force in heaven will take such things away from you because you decide to change religion.

The Baha’i faith could have become the modern successor of Islam

TOPICS: Baha’i faith sponsored by ascended masters to become modern successor of Islam – could have avoided Muslim fundamentalism – founders had Christ consciousness – progressive revelation will never stop – be loyal to the masters; not an earthly organization –

Question: Thank you for your beautiful answer to the question about unconditional love. I have questions about the Baha’i faith. I have several friends who are Baha’is and understand that they believe in progressive revelation and that Bahá’u’lláh was the most recent embodiment of the Christ consciousness. Is this true? If so, is Bahá’u’lláh now an ascended master? Thank you for sharing your love through this website.

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

The Baha’i faith is a magnificent example of how progressive revelation can renew an existing religion or create a new religious movement. It was the hope of the ascended masters that the Baha’i faith would become the modern successor of Islam. That is why the Baha’i faith was released in the Middle East and draws upon the religious language, tradition and metaphors found in the region.

If this hope had been fulfilled, the world would largely have avoided the current effects of Islamic fundamentalism. Instead, you would have seen a greater tolerance toward other religions, a firm adherence to non-violence plus equal rights and treatment for women—thereby resolving three of the major problems threatening to send the Middle East into chaos.

Both of the founders of the Baha’i faith were embodiments of the Christ consciousness in the sense that they had attained a high degree of individual Christhood. As I explain throughout my website,  all human beings have the potential to attain Christ consciousness, and when the mind of Christ dwells in you, you are the embodiment of the Christ consciousness. Both founders are ascended although they are currently not working directly with planet earth.

The statement “Bahá’u’lláh was the most recent embodiment of the Christ consciousness” was true at the time. However, others have embodied the Christ consciousness since then, and as I explain elsewhere, I hope there will soon be 10,000 people who embody the Christ consciousness.

My concern about the Baha’i faith is that it has shown a tendency toward following a pattern seen by many other movements that were based on progressive revelation. It is somewhat disappointing to the ascended masters that we have started so many movements by giving progressive revelation, yet when the founder is gone, progressive revelation comes to a halt. The movement now gradually begins to adopt the mindset that the founder was the final prophet and that there will be no progressive revelation after him or her.

This is exactly what you have seen happen to Christianity, and the result is that I – the Living Jesus Christ – cannot reach those who claim to be my followers. They are simply not willing to listen to the words I speak today, preferring their interpretations of the words spoken in the past.

It would be highly beneficial to the forward progression of humankind if all who believe progressive revelation has occurred in the past would realize that it is ongoing. Progressive revelation means that a specific teaching is given to help people raise their consciousness to a new level. When that level is reached, a new and higher teaching can and will be given. Yet if the old organization has become rigid and is no longer open to progressive revelation, we must give that revelation elsewhere. If there is no room in the inn, the Christ must be born in a stable.

My main point is that true spiritual seekers need to be aware of the dualistic mind’s tendency toward creating idols. This causes Christians to say that I was the final and most important prophet and that the ascended masters stopped talking to humankind 2,000 years ago. The very same mindset has caused later movements to become useless for our continual delivery of progressive revelation.

The truth of the matter is that progressive revelation is given through a person in embodiment, but that person is not the source. The source of all true revelation is the ascended masters. The outer messenger simply becomes a temporary vehicle for the stream of the Living Word. So even when one messenger is withdrawn from the scene of life, the source of revelation always remains. Therefore, what is to stop us from finding another messenger for delivering the next chapter in our ongoing and never-ending revelation?

The Living Word will not be stopped, so the question is, “Are you loyal to the Source or to a particular messenger? Or have you transferred your loyalty to a messenger – who deserved loyalty as long as he was the open door for the delivery of the Word – to an outer organization which is no longer open to the Living Word?” Choose life! Choose the Living Word over any dead doctrine!

Confusion about Islam and why the lifestream of Muhammad has not ascended

TOPICS: You were not born a Muslim – you are more than your religion – why many people are conflicted about (their) religion – find answers within yourself – find the universal path behind religions – Jesus is helping Muhammad ascend – Muhammad concerned about violent Islam – Sufism is close to true Islam – the Seal of the Prophets – if Muslims embraced total surrender – Islam and superiority – need for progressive revelation in Islam – the potential of Islam not fulfilled yet –

Question: Dear Jesus, I was born Muslim but am now very confused about Islam, religion and God in general. I love your website. Your explanations make sense to me. I am very grateful. However I would like to know more about Islam, the true Islam that was revealed to Muhammad which you say is from God.

1. Are you friends with Muhammad?
2. Where is Muhammad now and what does he have to say about today’s Islam?
3. Why isn’t Muhammad channeling information to us mortals as you are doing?
4. What did Muhammad mean by claiming he was the “Seal of the Prophets”?
I have so many questions about Islam but I hope by keeping the list short there will be a greater chance of them being answered.
Thank you again for your website. Please do not disappear from us!

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

Thank you for asking some important questions. Let me begin by commenting on your statement that you were born Muslim. A person is born as a son or daughter of God, not as a member of a particular religion. You might be born into a certain religion or a certain religious culture that is imposed upon you from early childhood. Yet your lifestream is more than the religion into which you were born.

It is particularly important for people in this day and age to realize that they are much more than the religious culture or the religion into which they were born. As I explain elsewhere, there are millions of people on this planet who have the potential to manifest a high degree of Christhood in this lifetime. Many of these lifestreams chose to be born into a particular religion because they wanted to transcend that religion on a personal level so that they could demonstrate to other people that they are more than Muslims, Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists or any other outer religious label.

When you know this fact, you have an important clue to understanding why you, and millions of other people on this planet, feel confused and conflicted concerning their particular religion, religion in general and their relationship to God. This is a product of the fact that your lifestream desires to break through to a higher understanding of God and the universal path behind all outer religions. Yet because your outer mind has not yet found an understanding that explains the universal path, your lifestream has not fully broken free of the limitations imposed upon it by the religion in which it grew up.

When you understand this dynamic, you understand that it is very important for you to contemplate religious questions and to seek to get answers from within yourself. All of the teachings I give on this website are aimed at helping people find answers from within themselves, including sharpening their ability to discern between true ideas and false ideas. If you will use the tools and teachings I give, you can indeed accelerate the process of breaking free from the religion in which you grew up. You can then embrace the universal spiritual path that runs like a golden thread behind all outer religions.

We are entering a spiritual age in which humankind is meant to recognize and embrace this universal path. Those who follow the energies of the times will walk the universal path, even though many of them will do so within the context of an existing religion. You can personally play an important role in helping the progression of humankind by transcending the religion in which you grew up and demonstrating that it is possible to walk a universal spiritual path that helps people transcend all conflicts in their relationship to God and in their relationship to members of other religions.

In other words, when you see the universal path behind all religions, you have transcended the consciousness that causes religious warfare and conflict. This is especially important for Muslims, because currently no other religion has a greater potential for causing religious conflict, as I explain elsewhere.

Now for your questions. I love every lifestream unconditionally, but friendship is not a one-way street. Therefore, I am only friends with lifestreams who are open to being a friend of the ascended master Jesus Christ. I am happy to say that the lifestream of Muhammad falls into this category, and I have indeed served as one of the spiritual teachers who seek to help the lifestream of Muhammad ascend to the spiritual realm.

This partially answers your second question. I realize that this will shock many Muslims, but the truth is that the lifestream of Muhammad has not ascended to the spiritual realm. In other words, Muhammad is not an ascended master, and this answers your third question. Muhammad is not channeling information because he has not attained the status of an ascended master.

As for what the lifestream of Muhammad has to say about today’s Islam, he is extremely burdened by the violent turn that Islam took almost from the beginning. He does indeed realize that he has some responsibility in this, because he was not able to fully transcend the warring and violent culture in which he grew up. He also realizes that because of this fact, he was not able to receive the revelations from Archangel Gabriel in their purest form. Although large parts of the Koran were indeed delivered in their pure form by Muhammad, there are other parts that were colored by his world view.

The lifestream of Muhammad has been in embodiment almost continuously since his death in that lifetime. He has been trying to turn Islam from the violent path it has started, the way that seems right unto a man, but the ends thereof are the ways of death. He has indeed been embodied in an Islamic culture ever since, and his lifestream was instrumental in starting the movement that is today known as Sufism. This is indeed the only remnants of the true Islam and the only part of Islam that is true to the original purpose that we of the ascended masters had for giving the religion of Islam. Therefore, I encourage all Muslims to sincerely study Sufism and embrace the mystical movement within Islam. Only if a critical mass of Muslims will embrace the mystical aspect of their religion can we avoid the large-scale conflict between Islam, Judaism and Christianity that I predict elsewhere.

Muhammad claimed to be the Seal of the Prophets because he believed he was meant to be the last major prophet sent to humankind. He believed that the religion of Islam was meant to bring together the great monotheistic religions of Judaism and Christianity and take those religions to the next level. There is actually some justification for this belief because it was the hope of the ascended masters that Islam would serve as the ultimate religion for the Arabic people—at least for a long time.

The religion was never meant to be a religion for all of humankind, and it was never meant to replace Christianity or other major religions. It was given to the Arabic people specifically because they had rejected both the monotheism of Abraham and Moses and the higher dispensation that I brought. It was therefore decided to give a religion to the Arabic people that could unite them under the banner of the one God instead of the many gods worshipped at the time Islam was released.

If the Arabic people had fully embraced the true, inner message of Islam, namely the total surrender to the will of the one true God, then Muhammad would have been the Seal of the Prophets for the Arabic people. They would not have needed another prophet to bring them a new religion because Islam could have been renewed through the tradition that you current see expressed only in Sufism.

However, it must be acknowledged that Muhammad himself did not fully understand what I have just told you. He was partly blinded by the pride of his culture, a pride that he had not fully transcended on a personal level. Immediately upon the spread of Islam, the pride of the Arabic people, and their jealousy of the Jews as God’s chosen people, caused them to reason that Islam was the only true religion. Their subconscious belief was that because they had been chosen as the recipients of this religion, they were now God’s chosen people and therefore superior to all others. This is the exact same mistake made by the Jews after the exodus from Egypt and by many modern Christians who believe that they are better than others because they follow my teachings. This is nothing but human pride, and it does go before the fall, which will inevitably come unless people let go of their human and spiritual pride.

What I am actually telling you here is that although Muhammad was chosen by the ascended masters to be a Prophet and bring about a major religion, he had not attained the spiritual mastery that was attained by myself, Krishna, the Buddha, the Vedic Rishis, and the person who brought forth the religion of Taoism. What I am saying here is that Muhammad had not attained full Christhood when he was used as a messenger by the Archangel Gabriel, and this explains why he was not able to bring forth an entirely pure religion. Again, I know this will shock many Muslims—if they were ever to read this message.

Nevertheless, it is the truth and it demonstrates why there is a great need for progressive revelation in Islam, the revelation that has been forthcoming through the tradition of Sufism but could be accelerated greatly if more people would embody the true inner principles of Islam and open their hearts and minds to being the messengers for a new teaching on and a new acceptance of the universal principles behind the religion of Islam.

It should be recognized by all that Islam was given a very long time ago to people in a state of consciousness that was dominated by conflict and duality. I am sad to say that, because of the misinterpretations imposed upon Islam through pride and duality, the consciousness of the Arabic people has not been raised as far as we had hoped. Yet there is always a potential that people can quickly grow to a new and higher level. That is indeed why I need those lifestreams who embodied within Islam for the specific purpose of bringing forth a higher understanding of this religion to awaken and fulfill the mission for which they came to earth.

Again, I can only encourage any Muslim who might read this message to make use of the universal teachings I give on this website and use them as a springboard for understanding the universal message behind the religion of Islam. There is still time for on awakening of Muslims, but the time is short and the sand in the hourglass is running out much faster than the majority of Muslims are willing to acknowledge. Let those who have ears hear my words before my words will be proven through bloodshed and war.

Muhammad: a true prophet influenced by a warring culture

TOPICS: Muhammed received teachings from Archangel Gabriel – influenced by warring culture – what is a true prophet? – mind of the prophet will influence the message – no one true religion – a prophet has to raise his or her consciousness –

Question: I have been reading a lot about Islam and wanted to find out if Muhammad was indeed, a true Prophet sent by the Most High.

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

I have already commented on this elsewhere. The short answer is that Muhammad was a true prophet who received his teachings from Archangel Gabriel.

However, from the beginning, the spiritual teachings of Islam were influenced by a warring culture. This turned Islam into a warring religion, and that was never the intent of the ascended masters.

Let me briefly comment on the expression a “true prophet.” Many people have a certain sense of idolatry when they look upon spiritual leaders, myself included. They assume that if you are a genuine spiritual leader, you are somehow in a category of your own. You are so different from other people that they could not possibly do what you have done.

In my view, the definition of a true prophet is a person who is able to raise his or her consciousness above the level of the lower consciousness, the dualistic mind. By making contact with the Christ self, the person can serve as an instrument for bringing forth a spiritual teaching directly from the ascended masters.

As I have explained elsewhere, we of the ascended masters do not take over people’s minds. Therefore, when we speak through the consciousness of a person in embodiment, it is inevitable that the message we give will be influenced by the person’s consciousness. This is not necessarily wrong, but it will affect the message.

At the very least, the message will be expressed in words, concepts and images that are familiar to the prophet. This can clearly be seen among the Old Testament prophets. It is also easy to see that I spoke in words and images that were familiar to people in a particular culture and a particular time. My essential point here is that even when a person is a true prophet, one should never reason that the message given through that prophet is the only truth about God or the only possible way that a spiritual teaching could be expressed.

Throughout the ages, members of the ascended masters have worked with many people in embodiment to bring forth spiritual teachings. These teachings have always been adapted to the consciousness of the recipients. The important point being that we of the ascended masters have never attempted to bring forth the “one true religion.”

The concept of the one true religion is something that is imposed by the human consciousness, the lower mind. It did not originate in heaven; it originated with man and the nonmaterial beings who are working against God’s will. Therefore, whenever a religion claims to be the only true religion, that claim did not originate with the ascended masters.

I know that millions of people, from a variety of different religions, will object to this statement. Yet no amount of human argumentation can change the reality of God. God is not mocked and he is no respecter of persons.

Let me comment on your expression that Mohammad was sent by the “most high.” Because of people’s idolatry, they tend to assume that a true prophet is speaking the direct word of God and that his entire life was predestined by some higher force.

In reality, Mohammad was a man, and as any other prophet (myself included), he had to raise his consciousness so that he was able to serve as a prophet. To raise his consciousness, he had to go through a process of spiritual growth. I am not saying that every human being could have done what Muhammad did. Nevertheless, there was never a guarantee that Mohammed would go through the process of becoming a prophet. He had to make decisions to raise his consciousness, and as part of this process he had to be willing to leave behind some of his former beliefs. This was a process that was entirely subject to his free will.

While Muhammad did raise his consciousness, he did not fully let go of certain cultural elements, and this did affect the teachings that were delivered through him. This influence is partly responsible for the fact that Islam became a warring religion. However, much was added later that was not the responsibility of Muhammad. Likewise, much has been added to Christianity for which I neither claim nor want responsibility.

Objections from a Catholic

TOPICS: Why the Catholic mental box imprisons people so firmly – prophecy often goes beyond doctrine – Catholic church has rewritten history – Jesus did not found the Catholic church – did all souls go to hell before Jesus? – no earthly institution has complete truth – if the church had complete truth, it should be able to answer all of people’s questions – doctrines influenced by human power struggles – setting yourself up as a god on earth – the Bible is not the infallible word of God – no doctrine is a complete description of Jesus’ teachings – it is possible for people to receive genuine revelation outside any church – new revelation often goes beyond established doctrines –

Question from Kim: Jesus, a devout Catholic had the following response to the message from Mother Mary,  given on Thanksgiving:

I have many doubts as to the source of this so-called heavenly message. In my opinion the source is NOT truly the Catholic Our Lady, Holy Mary.
Many sentences sound catholic, but as many others have a gnostic sense. Theologically speaking the content is not straightforward in dogmatical matters, which all true prophecies are. I advise you to retract this message from your list. Do NOT distribute, to prevent further confusion.

I would like to know what you would say to such a response.

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

I would say nothing.

Kim: I don’t understand. Why would you say nothing?

Jesus: The person is not open to the message, so nothing I could possibly say would make a difference. The person obviously rejects the message from my beloved mother, so why would anything I could say cause the person to change his mind?

You see, the central problem here is that the person is not even looking at the message. He is the perfect example of what I talk about in my discourse about the mission impossible, namely a person who has encased his mind in a mental box. In this case, the mental box is created by Catholic doctrines, and the doctrines form a filter through which the person sees everything. If something sounds like it conforms to Catholic doctrine, or rather to his particular perception of Catholic doctrine, then he might take a look at it. Yet if a message does not conform to Catholic doctrine, if it sounds non-dogmatic, then he will reject it outright.

Obviously, this person is not listening to the message with his heart, with his intuition. He is not open to getting a direction from his Christ self. He is only looking at the message with his outer mind, and therefore he will judge any message based on his particular mental box.

The claim that all true prophecies are straightforward in dogmatic matters shows clearly that the person is not able to look beyond his mental box. It also shows that he has little understanding of the true nature of prophecy, and he has little historical knowledge of Old Testament prophecies.

If you look at the tradition of the Old Testament prophets, you will see that these prophets typically where not leaders in the organized Jewish religion. They were outsiders, and they were often rejected by orthodox religious people. One of the reasons for this rejection was that their prophecies did not often conform to the official doctrine of the day.

One might raise a logical question here. The nature of a prophet is that he seeks to awaken people to the fact that they are out of alignment with the truth of God. In many cases the prophet attempted to make people see that their official religious doctrines and practices were out of alignment with the truth of God. So if the prophecy is given precisely to awaken people to the fact that their doctrines have moved away from truth, how could that prophecy possibly conform to official doctrine? And if the official doctrines were in perfect alignment with truth, why would there be a need to give the prophecy?

So you see that the very nature of prophecy is that it goes beyond many of the mental boxes that cause people to feel comfortable and believe that all is well. Many people have become so blinded by their mental boxes that they cannot see that they are walking toward an abyss. The very nature of prophecy is to awaken people to the fact that if they do not change course, they will fall over the cliff and be lost. So if you expect that the prophecy will conform to official doctrine, or in other ways conform to your comfortable beliefs about life, then you have not understood the nature and purpose of prophecy.

You will, by looking at the Old Testament, see that in many cases the warnings of the prophets fell on deaf ears. People simply were not willing to look beyond their mental boxes, and therefore they rejected the prophet and his message. Why do you think I so often said, “He who has years, let him hear my words?”

Kim: The person also made several other remarks, and I would like to know your response. This is the first remark:

There only has been one true founder of a religion, and that is Jesus, and he founded the Catholic Religion and the Catholic Church.

Jesus: Again, this is a person whose mind is imprisoned by a mental box created by the Catholic Church over the past 1,500 years. In this case, the person reveals a very sketchy knowledge about historical facts. This is not surprising, given the fact that the winners always write and rewrite history to their advantage. The Catholic Church has had a long time to rewrite the history of early Christianity to make it support and conform to Catholic doctrines.

Anyone with a reasonable knowledge about the historical facts will see that I did not found the Catholic Church. I started a movement that was not called the Catholic Church and that had very little resemblance to what became the Catholic Church. In fact, for decades after my crucifixion, my disciples were known as “the followers of the way.” They did not become known as Christians until later, and the reason was that in the beginning my followers were not nearly as focused on my person as later Christians. They were focused on bringing out the Christ in everyone, and that is why Paul said, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.”

When you say the Catholic Church, you should truly be saying the Roman Catholic Church. The simple fact is that for over 1,700 years the Christian world has been dominated by the Roman Catholic Church. This church was not founded until the conversion of the emperor Constantine, which happened in 312 A.D. So there is absolutely no way anyone can look at the historical facts and claim that I founded the Catholic Church.

As for the claim that I am the one true founder of a religion, one might ask what happened to Moses and Abraham? Did I not honor and respect Moses and Abraham? So how can anyone claim that Jesus Christ is the only true founder of a religion? Are such people saying that God did not have a plan for the salvation of lifestreams until 2,000 years ago? Are they saying that all the people who died before I appeared automatically went to Hell because God simply could not save them until I arrived on the scene and started the one true religion, namely the Catholic Church which was started 300 years after my crucifixion?

Kim: Here is the persons next statement:

Truth may only be found in the Catholic Church, total, complete truth, that is. Other religions may have some elements of truth.

Jesus: I have to say that when I hear such statements made by Christians in my name, I literally cry out to God, “How long, oh Lord? How long before these people finally wake up and overcome their need to define an outer religion as the one true religion, thereby overlooking the true inner path to salvation?” How long before these people will understand the message from Psalms that I often quoted, “There is a way that seems right unto a man, but the ends thereof are ways of death?”

How long before they recognize that I was in constant conflict with the orthodox religious authorities and that is why I said, “Woe unto you lawyers, for ye have taken away the key of knowledge.” And how long before they realize that I was addressing people who claim that orthodox doctrines are more important than the Living Word that was so beautifully delivered by Mother Mary in her dictation?

As I explain in more detail elsewhere, there is indeed more than one true religion. I agree with the statement that other religions have elements of truth. Almost all religions have elements of truth, and the Catholic Church is no exception. The Catholic Church does indeed have elements of truth, but to say that the Catholic Church has total and complete truth is simply incorrect. If the Catholic Church had total and complete truth, how come so many Catholics have unanswered questions, and how come the standard answer they get when they ask their priests some of the more difficult questions is, “It’s a mystery?”

Once again, a brief look at history will reveal the fallacy of this line of thinking. About 500 years ago, the Catholic Church had an official doctrine which stated that the earth was the center of the universe. The Church claimed that this was an infallible doctrine, and the church went so far as to torture and execute early scientists who dared to contradict this official doctrine. I dare say that few Catholics today believe the earth is flat or that the entire universe revolves around this planet. So every Catholic has admitted that at one time the Catholic Church had doctrines that were not total and complete. They were indeed incomplete and fallible doctrines.

Kim: The person’s next statement:

That is not to say that all Catholic churchmen are perfect people, of course they are not. But we have always to distinguish between the teachings and the persons, between the dogmas and the teacher. The Catholic dogmas give the only true truth. Whereas people may err.

Jesus: So if a person recognizes that Catholic churchmen are not perfect people and that they indeed may err, where does the person imagine Catholic doctrines came from? Did they suddenly fall from the sky in their present form?

Once again, a little historical knowledge will reveal that Catholic doctrines are the result of a long and violent process that is indeed as affected by human politicking and human power struggles as anything else on this planet. Simply study some of the historical records about the Arian Controversy, which eventually created the doctrine that I am God and that I was never created by God. You will clearly see that Catholic doctrines were indeed created by Catholic churchmen, and those churchmen were in fact not much better than so many other power-hungry people that you have seen throughout history.

How can one possibly distinguish between the teachings and the person, unless those teachings are brought forth through the Living Word as progressive revelation? The historical facts clearly show that Catholic doctrines were not brought forth through divine revelation, but in many cases were the result of a highly political power struggle between opposing factions. Once again, the winners will rewrite history to support their beliefs. Yet no amount human politicking will turn man-made doctrines into the truth, let alone the only truth.

In the book Save Yourself I give profound teachings explaining that a spiritual vision or teaching is always given through the consciousness of a person in embodiment. As quantum physics has demonstrated, the consciousness of the observer will always influence the observation, and this is true also for a spiritual vision or the bringing forth of a spiritual teaching, even when that teaching is brought forth through the Living Word. I understand that most Catholics do not have this truth, and therefore they are easily persuaded by the Church’s claim to infallibility. Nevertheless, as I explained in great detail elsewhere, this claim to infallibility is truly the biggest obstacle to the long-term survival of the Catholic Church.

Kim: The person’s next remark:

It is wrong to follow the God within yourself, and it’s wrong to believe “that God gives me the truth.” If you really mean that, you make yourself a God. And when people believe they are a God, they soon start believing they have truth and cannot make mistakes.

Jesus: As I explain in The Christ Is Born in You,  it is indeed true that every human being has the potential to know truth within his or her heart. I am aware that some Catholics have shut off this ability and have replaced it with a blind belief in orthodox doctrines. Yet the earth was still round when all people believed it was flat.

The statement that if you believe you can know truth through personal revelation, you make yourself a God is incorrect in the sense that you cannot make yourself what you already are. That is why I stated, “Ye are Gods.”

However, there is an important truth in the fact that people who are driven by power and who are trapped in the relativity of the carnal mind have a tendency to set themselves up as gods on earth. It is very true that such people soon start believing they have the only truth and cannot make mistakes.

And I must say frankly that this has nowhere been demonstrated more clearly than in the history of the Catholic Church. The problem, however, was that these people did not seek truth directly from the source of truth, namely God. They did not follow the inner path and seek revelation through their Christ selves. Instead they created a man-made “truth” based on the dualistic mind, and then they elevated that truth into an infallible church doctrine. They then used the military might of the Church to enforce that doctrine and to torture and kill anyone who refused to conform to the doctrine.

I wish people would spend a little bit of time reading about the history of the Catholic Church and realize that this Church has indeed acted as if it was a God and had the only truth. If a person can see the danger of making yourself a God, the person should look in the mirror and consider how his own church has demonstrated this danger so clearly that anyone with an open mind should be able to see it.

The essential difference here is that when you go within your heart, you have no need to elevate the revelations you get to an infallible outer doctrine. You have no need to seek to force other people to conform to an outer doctrine. You simply encourage them to go within their hearts and get their own understanding of truth. If they get an understanding that is slightly different from yours, or if they express their understanding in a different way, then that is not a threat to you because you know that the revelation you receive from God might not be a final, a complete or an infallible truth. God might indeed have much more to reveal to you as you are able to understand it. That is truly why I said, “I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now” (John 16:12).

Kim: The person also said:

But truth has been given us from God by Revelation in the Bible. And we must accept and follow this Revelation. Because God made us, we cannot act as autonomous persons, morally speaking.
God made us, and he has the right to tell what we should and should not do. That’s what true Revelation is about.

Jesus: Truth can indeed be given from God in the form of revelation, and the Bible does contain such revelation. However, as I explained elsewhere, the Bible is not the infallible word of God. When you elevate an outer spiritual teaching to an infallible truth, you inevitably fall into the trap of elevating the teaching to a God, and you easily elevate yourself to believe it is justified to kill those who do not accept what you define as the only truth. This has been demonstrated by the Catholic Church in the Crusades and the Inquisition.

I agree that God has made all human beings, and therefore no one can act as an autonomous person. However, precisely because God has made you, you do have the option to get truth directly from God in your heart. You see, the distinction here is that because God has made you, you cannot act without God or rather without using God’s Energy. However, what the person is really saying here is that you cannot, or should not, act without the Catholic Church.

So the question is simple, which would you rather follow, the inner path or the outer path? I explain the essential difference between the inner and the outer path in another discourse. Will you use the outer doctrines of the Church to deny God the ability to give you a deeper understanding of his truth than can be found in outer doctrines? Why do you think I taught the multitudes in parables but expounded all things to my disciples? It is indeed because only those who follow the inner path can understand the inner mysteries of God.

Obviously, Catholic doctrine cannot possibly contain the things that I taught my disciples in secret. It can contain only the outer teachings that I gave to the multitudes. So how can one claim that Catholic doctrines give you a complete description of truth? How can one deny God the ability to give people a deeper understanding of truth when they have studied and showed themselves approved unto God and therefore are ready to receive a higher understanding as a direct, personal revelation in their hearts?

True understanding of the deeper mysteries comes through the inner revelation that people can receive only on a personal level. True revelation can also be an outer revelation, brought forth through the Living Word. Yet once this outer teaching has been subjected to the eternal human power struggle, as has indeed the Bible and Catholic doctrine, it will no longer contain the original teachings in their pure form. The original revelation might have been true, but the doctrines based on that revelation might indeed be affected by human politics. So once again, choose whom you will serve, the true revelation of God or the man-made doctrines?

Kim: The person’s final remark:

Of course there also is false revelation. We need the Catholic Church and her teachings to be sure we follow the path of truth. Thinking you truly will find truth by your own thinking and feeling is such a false revelation.

Jesus: There is indeed false revelation, as I explained elsewhere. And the person is quite right that when receiving personal revelation, you should do everything possible to receive true revelation, and you must constantly be on guard against false revelation. However, to say that all personal revelation is per definition false revelation is simply a denial of your ability to discern.

History will prove this point. Most Christians accept that the Gospels in the Bible did not fall from the sky, but were written down by human beings. So these human beings must have received the Gospels through a process of personal revelation. So if it was possible for the Gospel writers to receive accurate personal revelation, then would it not follow that it could be possible for others as well?

You must realize that at the time the Gospels were written, there was no official doctrine to compare them to. The Christian Gospels did indeed go far beyond the official doctrines of the Jewish religion, and that is why they were rejected by so many orthodox Jews. So in order to bring forth the Gospels, the Gospel writers had to be willing to do two things. They had to be willing to seek personal, inner revelation and they had to be willing to publish that revelation even if it contradicted or went beyond the doctrines that they had been brought up to believe were complete and infallible.

Indeed, if my early followers had taken the same approach to religion as the person writing this letter, Christianity would never have been born. The orthodox Jewish religion would have squashed Christianity before it had a chance to reach the people.

What I said earlier about prohecy applies equally to revelation: it often goes beyond established doctrines, because that is the entire purpose of giving it. If established doctrines have fallen away from truth, how can I or God set people free from their error? We can do so only by giving new revelation that goes beyond doctrine, which is precisely what I am doing on my website. If you insist that such direct revelation from above must conform to he doctrines of an earthy institution, you are in effect saying that you do not want to hear from me or from God. You want to shut out Christ from giving new revelation, because you want to cling to the earthly institution. Of course, you have a right to say this, but then don’t claim that your church is the only representative of Christ on earth. You cannot represent me if you do not want to hear my Living Word.

Is it really that difficult for modern Christians to see that I was in constant opposition to the orthodox religious authorities? Is it that difficult for people to see that I forcefully denounced those who took the outer, or orthodox, approach to religion? Is it that difficult for people to see that I personally took the inner or mystical approach to religion and that I encouraged my disciples to do the same?

And is it really that difficult for modern Christians to see that human power plays did indeed turn the Christian religion into precisely the kind of orthodox religion that I so forcefully denounced whenever I encountered it? Is it really that difficult for modern Christians to ask themselves whether I truly want to see the religion that claims to represent me on earth become precisely the kind of religion that rejected me, persecuted me and crucified me?

Does Jesus agree that John Paul II should be made a saint?

TOPICS: The Catholic church is a human institution and Jesus has no say over it – preserving the institution rather than aligning it with Christ – to ascend, you must transcend suffering – redemption is NOT brought through suffering – separation from God causes suffering – suffering is not a sign of holiness – the true meaning of the cross –

Question: I would like to know Jesus’ position on self-flagellation, especially in the light of a new book that claims Pope John Paul II practiced it throughout his life. A new book portrays this as a sign of his holiness and uses it as an argument for speeding up the process to make him a saint. Does Jesus agree that John Paul II should be made a saint?

NOTE: In 1984 John Paul II wrote an apostolic letter, Salvifici Doloris, On the Christian Meaning of Human Suffering:

“Christ did not conceal from his listeners the need for suffering. He said very clearly: ‘If any man would come after me … let him take up his cross daily,’ ”

“Jesus, suffered in place of man and for man. Every man has his own share in the Redemption. Each one is also called to share in that suffering through which the Redemption was accomplished.

“In bringing about the Redemption through suffering, Christ has also raised human suffering to the level of the Redemption. Thus each man, in his suffering, can also become a sharer in the redemptive suffering of Christ.”

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

Let me answer the last question first. The Roman Catholic Church is a human institution. I have no say over it, as I have been shut out by its leadership from the very beginning—with a few exceptions where popes have been open to higher guidance. Thus, as a human institution, the church can set up its own positions and give those positions to whomever it wants.

There are some Catholic saints who are also ascended masters, however this is not true for the vast majority of them. The reason is that the church’s criteria for recognizing a saint are defined by man and geared toward glorifying and preserving the institution itself. It has always been far more important for Catholic leadership to preserve or expand the institution on earth rather than aligning it with the truth of Christ.

The criteria for making your ascension are not defined by man. They require a complete transformation of consciousness, which no human institution can guarantee–or prevent. And one of those criteria is to completely transcend and leave behind the state of consciousness that causes a human being to experience life as suffering.

It is correct that I did not conceal my suffering from people, but the reason was NOT that I was seeking to establish suffering as a need that must be fulfilled before one can enter heaven. On the contrary, the reason I allowed myself to be crucified was – among several others – to demonstrate to people that I also suffered, so that they could identify with me. And in identifying with me, they might be better able to follow my example for how I transcended suffering. In other words, it wasn’t my suffering that was important but my TRANSCENDING suffering that was important.

That is also why I generally called myself the “Son of Man” so as to NOT create an impenetrable barrier between myself and other human beings (Which the Catholic Church then did in the Nicene Creed). The reason was, as I explain throughout my website, that I came to set forth an example that all could follow. In other words, I came to show that even though one has suffered on earth, one can rise above suffering and the consciousness of suffering by following the “strait and narrow way” that leads to Christ consciousness.

Thus, the claim that I brought about redemption through suffering is completely out of touch with the reality of my mission. Such a claim can only be made by a person who has no deeper understanding of the inner mysteries of Christ but is very attached to the outer appearances—which is, of course, why such a person can be elected leader of a human institution that is entirely built on maintaining outer appearances.

As I have explained further in my discourses on Mother Teresa, there is no need for suffering. In fact, the tendency to focus on the suffering of Christ and the illusion that the more you suffer, the more you please me and get closer to salvation, is a clear consequence of the epic dramas.

The simple reality is that the epic dramas are born from separation from God’s Oneness. This separation leads to suffering—separation is the ONLY cause of suffering. Some of the epic dramas define that the key to ascending back into oneness is to suffer even more. Yet as we have said many times, you cannot overcome the duality consciousness by taking the duality consciousness to its extreme. You cannot overcome the consciousness that produces suffering through suffering—unless you finally come to a point where you see that what you are doing is ridiculous and then change your state of consciousness. Incidentally, the consciousness that Mother Teresa took on and was hoping to help people overcome, is precisely the drama that elevates suffering as a road to the kingdom of God. She failed because she never came to the point of seeing how ridiculous it is to think that you can overcome suffering by more suffering.

My point is that John Paul II through this practice demonstrates how far he is from understanding the inner reality of my mission, which is one of the main reasons why he has not ascended. So, no I do not see suffering as a sign of holiness, on the contrary I see it as sign of a person who is deeply trapped in the duality consciousness, the illusion of separation.

What is true holiness? It is, of course, oneness with God through oneness with your I AM Presence. And when you experience this inner condition, even the most unpleasant outer conditions will not cause you to experience life as suffering. You will be filled with a bliss that removes all suffering—and in this bliss the thought of flagellating yourself would never even occur.

As a final note, let me make it clear that the call that those who would follow me must take up their cross has nothing to do with suffering. The crucifixion is a symbol for the fact that all people are crucified by their own psychological issues, focused in the ego. Thus, taking up your cross truly means that you are willing to look at the beam – the ego – in your own eye. Thus, thinking that you can qualify for salvation through suffering is simply another way to deny the need to look at your own interior state.

The Catholic Church turned Christianity into a fear-based religion

TOPICS: Jesus did not come to start an organized church – only way to God is Christhood – follow Jesus’ example – many true religions – Catholic church turned Christianity into fear-based religion – not all religions suitable for path of Christhood –

Question: Dear beloved Jesus, During the Middle Ages, after the fall of Rome the Romans seemed to have thought that it was their responsibility to convert all of “Pagan” Europe to Christianity, and they succeeded eventually even reaching Iceland. My question is, was this ever your intention? Or were the Europeans meant to remain in their various tribal religions that were revealed to them, being on the mystical path as shamans or Druids.

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

The medieval church had a number of “justifications” for its militant attempts to convert people. One of them was these words from the Gospel of Mark:

18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (Mark, Chapter 16)

However, this quote can be interpreted correctly only when you understand, as I explain throughout my website, that I did not come to start an organized church but to teach all people how to follow the universal way to individual Christhood. Indeed, modern scholars are aware that my early disciples were called “Followers of the Way.” This is the way I described when I said,

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6)

The only way to the Father is individual Christhood, which means that you become one with the universal Christ mind. How could I teach that way unless I had first walked the path and united with the Christ mind? How could I demonstrate that union without stating “I am the way?” Truly, every person who becomes one with the Christ mind is the Way, the Truth and the Life.

Many Christians, even today, use this quote as “proof” that the Christian religion is the only road to salvation. The true interpretation is that the Christ consciousness is the only road to salvation. I came to demonstrate that way so all people could follow my example and “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus” (Pilippians 2:5).

The consequence is that you can follow the way to Christhood from any true religion, and as I explain elsewhere, there is more than one true religion. Take note that when I was asked about the most important commandments of the law, I answered:

35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy lifestream, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. (Matthew, Chapter 22)

The greatest commandment is love, yet what happened during the formation of the Catholic Church was that Christianity was turned into a fear-based religion. The militant attempts to convert all people to Christianity and to forcefully eradicate all other religions is clearly fear-based. Only people consumed with fear would ever reason that it is acceptable to violate the law of love in order to convert people. Only the duality and relativity of the dualistic mind could cause people to take my love-based teachings and pervert them into a fear-based religion. Only the Luciferian consciousness, which believes that the end can justify the means, could cause people to believe it is justified to kill others in the name of Christ.

So the short answer to your question is that it was never my intention to have Christianity replace all other religions. You can follow the universal way to Christ consciousness by using many different religions as a platform.

Yet not all religions are suited as a foundation for seeking Christhood, at least not without being transformed. Some of the pagan religions used rituals that were a clear misuse of God’s energy in the form of black magic. Such practices must be abandoned before you can truly walk the path of Christhood. You cannot serve two masters, so you must choose whom you will serve, Christ or anti-christ.

Can the Catholic Church be saved?

TOPICS: Only God can save church, but it must happen through people – Christhood is the key – progressive revelation from Jesus and Mother Mary – leaders will not give up their positions – no room for members to speak out – calling out those willing to change – listen to your intuition – Jesus holds office of Savior for all people – Jesus saves individuals, not organizations – overcome all man-made labels in order to enter the kingdom – no Catholics in heaven –

Question: Dear Jesus, Can the Catholic Church be saved? You didn’t try to change the Pharisees or their Synagogues. Instead you called your people out of them and began a new church. Would you do that again, and if so, how would one know?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

The answer to your first question is found in this quote:

But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. (Matthew 19:26)

In other words, human beings alone cannot save the Catholic Church; only the power of God can save the Catholic Church. However, the power of God can work only through human beings. Therefore, the simple fact is that the Catholic Church can be saved only if a critical mass of Catholics open themselves up to my inner teachings, attain a critical degree of Christhood and therefore become the open doors for the power of God to change the Catholic Church through them.

Saving the Church means renewing the church, and this can happen only through progressive revelation from myself and Mother Mary. In fact, history clearly proves that without progressive revelation, any church starts calcifying, and within a surprisingly short period of time, it can become so rigid that it is no longer a vehicle for the ascended masters. Will Catholics be willing to open their minds and hearts? I simply cannot answer that question because how can anyone predict what people will do with their free will?

I actually did try to change the Pharisees and the other leaders of the Jewish religion. That is why I challenged them over and over again in an attempt to shatter their illusions and demonstrate to them that God had sent another prophet to call them to change. Obviously, I was not successful in helping them see beyond their illusions, so they refused to change. Consequently, I had no option left but to call my own out of the corrupt religion whose leaders were not willing to relinquish their power to the power of God. This is a pattern you see in many religions throughout history and even today.

The leaders of a particular religion are often the last people to acknowledge the need for that religion to change. They will not acknowledge this because change is seen as a threat to their positions of power and their control over “their” followers. They are more concerned about their own positions of power than about the truth of God.

15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? (Matthew, Chapter 7)

Obviously, almost any religion could be changed if a critical mass of the members of that religion stood up and demanded change. The problem is that most religious organizations are structured in such a way that this is an unlikely event. In most religions, the leadership has almost absolute power, and there is little room for the membership to speak out. Consequently, the members of most religions have been programmed to simply follow the leaders instead of speaking out.

So when it becomes clear that a particular religion has calcified in this age-old pattern of blind leaders and blind followers, the ascended masters have no other option than to call out those who are not the blind followers but who are not sufficient in numbers to create change in their organization. These are the ones who are willing to follow the call:

Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch. (Matthew 15:14)

That is why you so often see us call out the awakened members of an old religion and start a new movement in its place. In essence, my website is my attempt to call out those from mainstream Christianity who are no longer the blind followers and who have seen through the fallacy of their blind leaders.

So yes, I am indeed doing that again. The ascended masters are constantly calling out those who have reached the level of spiritual maturity that makes them look to the living truth of God instead of an outer doctrine or organization that appears beautiful on the outside but is inwardly filled with dead men’s bones (Matthew 23:27).

How do you know whether you are one of the called-out ones? You can know so only in your heart, because only your Christ self, speaking to you in your heart, can be reveal truth to you. Listen to the following Bible passage:

15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. (Matthew, Chapter 16)

As I said to Peter, the flesh and blood of your outer mind cannot reveal to you the Presence of the Living Christ and the Living Truth. This can happen only through your Christ self. Yet if you are open to the teachings on this website, have you not already opened yourself to the Living Truth of God? So have you not already realized that I am calling you out?

Finally, let me say that God has assigned me to hold the spiritual office of Savior for all of humankind. It is the assignment of my office to save all lifestreams on earth, within the context of the Law or Free Will. It is my assignment to save all lifestreams, not just the members of one particular religion. And it is not my job to make all people the members of one particular religion. It is my job to raise all people to the level of the Christ consciousness, which is the only key to entering the kingdom of heaven.

In other words, I am concerned about saving individual lifestreams, and I am not concerned about saving this or that church. Look at how many religions have been ground to dust by history. If a religion will not change, it will inevitably die. So those leaders who seek to save their power will lose that power (Matthew 16:25). Only those who are willing to give up their power for my sake – for the sake of finding the Living Truth – will be given the true power of the Christ consciousness.

When you attain the Christ consciousness, you realize that you are a son or daughter of God. It is this sense of identity that gives you access to the kingdom of heaven. You cannot enter the kingdom as long as you identify yourself with any man-made label. In other words, if you see yourself as a Catholic, you cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. Even if you see yourself as a Christian, you cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. Yet if you see yourself as a Christ, you can indeed enter the kingdom. If you see yourself as a Buddhist you cannot enter the kingdom, but if you see yourself as a Buddha you can indeed enter. Or rather, when you see yourself as the Christ or the Buddha, you are already in the kingdom of heaven.

To enter the kingdom of heaven, you must let go of the flesh and blood of your earthly sense of identity. Therefore, you must let go of all tendency to identify yourself as the member of a particular religion, and you must identify yourself as a member of the universal body of God, as Above so below. This is the true Body of Christ, and I am calling all people to join it.

Should Catholic priests be allowed to marry?

TOPICS: Inner wholeness requires resolution of psychological conditions – forcing yourself to abstain from sex does not help your spiritual growth – the church lost the inner teachings, thus had to force people to conform to outer doctrines – unmarried priests cannot minister to married couples – monasteries for people ready to give up bodily desires – the sexual abuse by priests proves the fallacy of seeking to force people to conform to outer doctrines – celibacy fosters elitism and spiritual pride –

Question: Jesus, I understand the need for a true reform of the Catholic church, and I hope many Catholics heed your words about the need for reform. However, I would like to ask whether you think Catholic priests should be allowed to marry?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

I am a spiritual teacher, and my concern is always for the spiritual growth of the individual lifestream. Spiritual growth means the resolution of false beliefs and emotional scars that prevent the lifestream from attaining wholeness, also called holiness. This is an inner, psychological resolution that cannot be attained as an automatic or mechanical effect of performing certain outer actions. Therefore, forced celibacy has little value and will be a burden to the lifestreams who are not ready to abstain from sex. Instead of leading to the resolution of psychological problems, it is likely to reinforce such problems. This is precisely why the Church has such a massive problem with sexual abuse.

What I am saying here is that the true purpose of life is to walk a gradual path which leads to a higher state of consciousness. This path can be compared to a staircase with many steps. As a lifestream ascends this staircase, it will naturally begin to lose its attachment to, its desire for and its interest in the things of this world, especially the sensory pleasures produced by the physical body. In other words, it is natural for a lifestream to gradually lose its desire for sex and place more attention on the spiritual side of life.

If you survey humankind, you will see that some people have attained this state of spirituality and have put the bodily desires behind them. You will see that some people gradually overcome their attachment to sex during one lifetime. Yet you will also see that there are many people on this earth who are not yet to ready to give up sex. And if a person is not ready to do so, forcing oneself to abstain from sex is not likely to help the spiritual growth of the lifestream. The abstinence from sex must be based on a true inner resolution of the desire for sex rather than a decision made with the outer mind and will.

It was my original intent and hope that the Christian movement would offer people a gradual path leading to a higher state of consciousness, namely the Christ consciousness. This growth should ideally be based on an understanding, a true inner understanding, of the spiritual mysteries of life.

When the lifestream receives a true understanding, it will find valid answers to its questions about life. Those answers will bring true resolution to the lifestream. The lifestream will gradually begin to align its beliefs with the reality of life, and the lifestream will gradually resolve its emotional wounds and hang-ups. Therefore, the lifestream will not need to force itself to take certain outer actions. The lifestream will voluntarily choose those outer actions because the lifestream realizes that they represent enlightened self-interest.

What happened to the Catholic Church was that it deviated from my original intent. The church became caught up in power plays, and as a result some of my original teachings were removed. Therefore, the church could not give people the true understanding that could lead them to a true resolution. As a result, the church has fallen into a pattern of forcing people to conform to outer doctrines and rigid rules for behavior.

Ideally, a church organization should provide a hierarchical structure and allow people to gradually climb to higher levels of that structure as they are able and willing. Such a structure would have different levels based on different levels of spiritual attainment. For example, the majority of the human population is not at a level where it would be natural or even beneficial for them to abstain from sex. These people should live in a normal family situation, as many of them already do.

A church needs a class of priests who minister to these people. This would be the ordinary Catholic priests. If you are to effectively minister to people, you must know the problems faced by those people. How can you know such problems unless you have experienced them yourself? In other words, if you are to effectively minister to families and married couples with children, it will be extremely helpful if you are married and have your own children to deal with on a daily basis.

It is a simple fact that many Catholic priests are ineffective when it comes to ministering to married couples, families and children. This is due to the fact that these priests do not have personal experience as the basis for their ministry. So to answer your question, it was never my intent to create an organization that required celibacy of ordinary priests. This was a later addition that was not in accordance with my will and my intent. It came about as a result of the need for power and control.

Let me now return to the idea of a hierarchical structure based on different levels of spiritual attainment. As a lifestream climbs the spiritual path, it will naturally lose, through an inner resolution, is attachment to the things of this world. Therefore, a church organization must provide a way whereby people with this level of attainment can live in an environment that allows them to focus on spiritual activities. This can be done through monasteries or other settings that are designed specifically for people who do not wish to live in a family situation. It can also be done through organizations that minister to people, and a magnificent example is the organization created by Mother Teresa.

Celibacy should be the natural lifestyle for such organizations, but not as a forced outer rule. Instead, it must be a voluntary thing that is based on true inner resolution and spiritual growth. People who are not at this level, simply would not choose to live in that kind of environment. One might say that a church organization should have an outer aspect that is geared towards ministering to people who live in normal family relations. The church should also have an inner aspect that is geared towards providing the maximum opportunity for leading a life focused on spiritual activities.

Let me issue a word of caution. It is true that as a lifestream matures on the spiritual path, it will gradually and naturally lose its attachment to worldly desires. Yet this does not necessarily mean that all spiritually advanced lifestreams should be unmarried or even live in celibacy. Being unmarried and living in forced celibacy will not automatically produce spiritual growth, and this is the erroneous belief promoted by the Catholic Church. The fallacy of this belief has been clearly proven by the exposure of sexual abuse by priests. This abuse also proves the dangers of willfully forcing a person to conform to rigid outer rules when that lifestream is not ready for such a lifestyle.

My point is that the leaders of a church should not necessarily be celibate. Once again, you can only minister effectively to people if you know their problems. Therefore, a church can have leaders, even high-ranking leaders, that are married. In fact, I am not saying that as the lifestream matures spiritually, it should get divorced and live in celibacy. You can very well remain married and either practice celibacy or have a more balanced level of sexual activity than most couples.

So I do not want to see an organizational culture which states that those who practice celibacy are somehow above or more spiritually advanced than those who do not. I do not encourage elitism in any form because it fosters pride and pride is in opposition to spiritual growth. Remember the statement, “He who would be greatest amongst you, let him be the servant of all.”

Sexual Abuse in the Catholic Church

TOPICS: Great tragedy – punishing scapegoats or truly resolving the problem – giving up on religion – breaking the spiral of suffering – people coming to understand Jesus’ true teachings – meeting people’s spiritual needs in this age – faith in Jesus should not depend on earthly institution – take responsibility for YOUR Church – sexual abuse an effect of much deeper problem – organization reflects the consciousness of the members – no easy way out – the systemic problems facing the Church – the outer path versus the inner path – a fundamental misunderstanding of the path of Christ – the ongoing human power plays – airing the dirty laundry – an elitist culture – Catholics must take an active approach – reform must come from the members – follow your highest love –

Question: Jesus, would you please comment on the ongoing scandal of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

There is no question that this situation is a great tragedy for all involved. There is no question that this situation has caused much pain and suffering, especially among the innocent children who have been victims of this abuse. There is no question that the priests who performed the abuse and the leaders who covered it up have made severe mistakes. Inasmuch as you have done it unto the least of these my little ones, you have done it unto me.

That being said, I would like to bring a perspective into this debate that is not affected by the lower state of consciousness and its normal pattern of reactions. When people hear about a situation like this, they often tend to go into one of two extremes. In this case, one extreme is that many people feel outrage and anger towards the priests who performed the abuse and the leaders who covered it up. People then channel their anger into making some of their fellow Catholics into scapegoats. They want to punish the scapegoats instead of truly seeking to resolve the situation.

The other extreme is that some people feel that the sexual abuse, and especially the cover-up by leadership, casts doubt upon not only the Catholic Church but their faith in Christianity as a whole. Some people become so discouraged that they leave the Church, leave Christianity or even give up on all religion.

From my perspective, these reactions are very understandable, yet I must tell you that they are not constructive. I am not saying that people should not feel outraged. I am not saying that people should not question their beliefs or the Church. However, the real question is, “Where do you want to go from here?” Where do you want to go on a personal level, and where would you like to see the Church go?

What I would like all people to understand is that when you are trapped in the lower state of consciousness, it is very easy to go into the extremes. However, when you to fall prey to this unbalanced reaction, you will only make the situation worse. You see, in this situation everybody has already suffered a great deal. The unbalanced reactions of wanting to punish people or give up on religion will do nothing to diminish the spiral of suffering. It will only reinforce that negative spiral.

As an ascended being, an ascended master, I am always first and foremost concerned about the spiritual growth of everyone involved with a situation. Therefore, I would like to provide a perspective that could potentially help people create a positive spiral that could actually lead to a constructive outcome.

I would like to see the many Catholics who are currently questioning their faith end up with an even stronger faith in me and in my true teachings. I would also like to see the Catholic Church go through a period of reform that could realign it with my true teachings and thereby enable it to meet the spiritual needs that people have in this day and age, spiritual needs that are in many ways different from the needs that people had 2,000 years ago.

What then could bring about a positive change, an upward spiral? First of all, we need people to get back to a balanced perspective instead of being caught in the unbalanced and extremist viewpoints. I understand that many people are outraged, yet I encourage these people to channel their anger into a firm resolve to see positive change and reform in the Church.

I understand that many people are questioning their faith, not only in the Church but in Christianity as a whole. I encourage these people to realize that their faith in me should not depend on anything that happens in the outer Church or the outer world. The main theme, the main message, found on my website is that it is possible for people to build an inner, personal relationship with me that is independent of anything, and I truly mean anything, outside themselves.

I would like those who doubt their faith to realize that questioning your faith can be the first step towards strengthening and deepening your faith. We live in a rational age, and it is time for humankind to move out of the state of consciousness in which people have blind faith in their leaders or their outer organizations. If your faith is a blind faith, you are likely to follow the blind leaders who will lead you into the ditch.

In this day and age, it is more important than ever before to go deep within your heart and make contact with your higher self, your Christ self. When you make this inner contact, your faith will not be based on the shifting sands of the outer world, or even your own outer consciousness. It will be built on the rock of the Christ consciousness, of the Christ self, that you can contact directly within your heart. Our websites contain many teachings and techniques for developing a conscious contact with your Christ self. I strongly encourage people to use these tools to build an inner faith instead of the outer faith.

What I would like to see happen is that all people move out of the extremist approach to the situation and develop a balanced perspective. The very core of this balanced perspective should be a clear and uncompromising recognition of the inescapable fact that it is time, and past time, for the Catholic Church to go through some major changes.

Times have changed, and unless the Church changes with them, it will inevitably become obsolete and collapse under its own weight. I have given detailed teachings on why and how religions need to change elsewhere on this website.

When you develop a balanced perspective, you realize that simply turning certain priests or leaders into scapegoats will not resolve the real problem. The sexual abuse performed by priests is not the real problem. It is simply the effects of a much deeper, underlying problem that goes to the very core of the Catholic Church.

Making certain people the scapegoats and punishing the scapegoats will do very little towards resolving the underlying problem. This points to another aspect of the unbalanced state of consciousness. This state of consciousness always looks for an easy solution, an easy way out. When people are in this state of consciousness, they don’t really want to change themselves. So when a problem appears that points to the need for change, they want to find a quick and easy solution to the problem so that the problem will go way and they don’t have to go through the deep, inner changes that are required to truly resolve the problem.

I must tell you that the reason why the sexual abuse by priests has been systematically covered over by the leaders of the Catholic Church is exactly this state of consciousness. Many leaders of the Catholic Church realize that the Church has some severe problems. Yet because they are not willing to go deep within themselves and go through the necessary personal changes, they feel powerless to solve those problems. They literally feel that there is no resolution to the problems of the Church or that they are powerless to bring forth such solutions.

I must also tell you that the cover-up of the sexual abuse is not the exclusive responsibility of the leaders of the Catholic Church. The simple fact is that the leaders of any organization will to a large extent be a reflection of the consciousness of the members of that organization. There are millions upon millions of Catholics who deep within their hearts realize that the Church has certain problems. Yet they are not willing to openly recognize these problems because they do not want to go through the necessary personal changes that are required in order to truly resolve the problems.

So many Catholics have doubts about their faith, but they are not willing to go through the difficult and sometimes painful lifestream work that is required to resolve these doubts. Therefore, millions of Catholics simply want to keep doing what they have been brought up to do. As I have said in many places on this website, there is no automatic salvation. The only true path to salvation is to attain Christ consciousness, and this cannot be done by belonging to an outer organization and blindly following outer doctrines.

So when a problem like this sexual abuse surfaces, many Catholics would prefer to sweep the problem under the rug and go on with business as usual. This tendency among the members of the Catholic Church is partly responsible for the fact that the leaders of the Church did indeed attempt to sweep this problem under the rug—and were successful for so long.

The essence of the situation is that millions of Catholics know that something is wrong and that the Church needs to change. Yet they are not willing to take responsibility for the situation and realize that any change in an outer organization must begin with an inner change in the consciousness of the members and leaders of the organization.

If people are not willing to go through the process of creating this change of consciousness, this change of heart, they will feel disturbed when problems, such as sexual abuse, surface. They will look for an easy solution that will make the outer problem go away so they can continue to ignore the need for a change in consciousness.

Is there a way out of this impasse? There is indeed a way out, but the question is whether a critical mass of Catholics will be willing to follow this way or whether they will continue to follow the way that seems right unto a man.

I am gratified that many Catholics have been awakened by the sexual abuse scandal. I am gratified that so many people are calling for reform in the Church and that so many are demanding a greater influence by the members of the Church. This is truly a step in the right direction, and I strongly encourage these people to continue with these demands even after the media frenzy about the scandal has abated.

However, my real concern is whether the people, who today are demanding reform and change, will be willing to go all the way to the root of the problem. Will they be willing to go through the process of a change in consciousness, a change in beliefs and culture, required in order to solve the core problems of the Catholic Church? Will they be willing to go through the process of creating outer changes in the Catholic Church, a process that will be agonizing and require enormous changes in church culture and in the outer organization?

Certain engineers or systems analysts are trained to point out and resolve problems in organizations. These people often talk about different levels of problems. Some are surface problems that are easy to solve while others go to the very core of the organization. These latter problems are often called systemic problems. I can assure you that the real problem with the Catholic Church is not the sexual abuse by priests. It is only one among many smaller problems that are caused by a problem, or rather two problems, that go to the very core of the Catholic Church and the culture and belief system upon which the Church is founded. These problems are so integral to the Catholic Church that solving them will require a dramatic shift in the culture and belief system of both members and leaders of the Church.

There are two systemic problems that have affected the Catholic Church from the very beginning, and even before there was a Catholic Church.
One of these problems is that the Church has been based on a misunderstanding of my true teachings and of the true path to Christhood. This misunderstanding goes all the way back to Peter and his denial of himself as one of my followers. I have spoken in more detail about this problem elsewhere.

An offspring of this problem is that almost from the very beginning there has been a tendency that the outer organization has been based on the need to justify Peter’s decision not to follow me all the way. Over the first centuries of the Christian movement, this caused numerous subtle changes in the culture and belief system of the early Christians. It led to the formation of an orthodox Church which claimed that the path to salvation was not an inner, individual path but an outer path that required membership of and allegiance to an outer organization and an outer belief system. This led to the emergence of a Church which claimed that the only road to salvation goes through the sacraments controlled by the outer church.

This process eventually led to the formation of the Roman Catholic Church with a fixed outer doctrine that is aimed more at supporting the outer organization than at helping people understand the true teachings of Christ. In other words, the outer organization itself suddenly became more important than the true spiritual goal of helping people discover the inner path to salvation.

I did not come to start a rigid outer organization that would do to people what the Jewish temple priests had done to people. Did I not say, “The kingdom of God is within you?” Did I not challenge the Jewish leaders, and did not those leaders plot my crucifixion in order to silence me?

If you will honestly examine my mission and my teachings, you will discover that I did not come to establish an all-powerful outer church. I came out of love for the individual lifestream, and I came to help each lifestream walk the path that leads to salvation. To be the true church of Jesus Christ on earth, an organization must be focused on this goal instead of allowing the power plays of the outer organization to become a goal in itself.

This then brings us to the second problem that goes to the very core of the Catholic Church. Anyone who would make an effort to examine the history of the formation of the Roman Catholic Church would discover that from its very inception the Church has been heavily influenced by human power plays, as clearly outpictured in the interaction between the early Church and certain Roman emperors.

Because of these interactions, the Roman Catholic Church has, since its very inception, been heavily influenced by an elitist culture which has an insatiable desire for power and control. It is this elitist, power-hungry culture which is responsible for the worst atrocities committed by the Catholic Church, such as the Inquisition, the Crusades, the burning of books, the witch hunts and the massacre of the Cathars. It is also this culture that is responsible for the fact that the Roman Catholic Church has systematically distorted my true teachings and created a culture that is very far from my true teachings and my true intent.

I am gratified by the fact that so many Catholics see a need for the members of the Church to play a more active role and have more direct influence on the workings of the organization. I would like to encourage these people, yet I must bring a sense of practical realism to the issue. If the members of the Catholic Church are to have any chance of ever attaining a real influence over church matters, they must be willing to recognize the existence, the motives and the modus operandi of this power-hungry culture. They must be willing to confront this culture and to make a very firm and determined stand against it. This will require a very determined and very skillful effort, because I can assure you that after 1,500 years this culture is firmly entrenched in the Catholic Church.

I can also assure you that in order to overcome this elitist culture, it will be necessary to air all the dirty laundry of the organization. It has been said that all power corrupts and that absolute power corrupts absolutely. The sad fact is that for 1,500 years Catholics have believed that the Church has the power to determine whether they go to Hell or go to heaven. Therefore, they have given church leaders absolute power on earth.

I can assure you that this absolute power has led to such a massive abuse of power that most people could scarcely imagine it. I can assure you that in order to transform the Catholic Church into a modern organization, which can meet the needs of spiritual people in this age, you will have to be willing to look at this abuse of power, to expose it for what it is and to make a very strong demand that it be rooted out of the Church. For this to happen, you would have to go all the way to the top of the Church and expose the people who are ruling this Church behind the scenes. This would require a massive effort.

I realize that I am painting a grim picture. Yet I can assure you that both myself, my beloved Mother and many other members of the ascended masters would very much like to see the Catholic Church reformed and transformed into a modern organization. Therefore, we would be more than willing to support anyone with a sincere desire to bring about this reform. I can assure you that the prayers of ordinary Catholics for sincere reform of the Church would have a tremendous effect. However, prayer in itself will not do the job.

If the Catholic Church is to be reformed, Catholics must move out of the passive state of consciousness in which they look to the Church for leadership. They must realize that the true meaning of “church” is not the outer organization or the outer buildings, no matter how powerful the organization seems or how imposing the buildings are. The true meaning of church is a gathering of people around the purpose of bringing God’s kingdom to earth. In other words, it is not the organization and the buildings that form the church; it is the people that form the church.

Therefore, Catholics must take on an entirely new mindset and realize that if the Church is to be reformed, it must be reformed from within. What I am saying here is that God will not reform the Catholic Church. I will not reform the Church. The blessed Virgin will not reform the Church. And I can assure you that the leaders of the Church will not reform the Church, because if they had any intention of doing so, they would have done so already.

The Catholic Church can be reformed only if the members of the Church take an active stand and reform the Church. This reform must begin in the consciousness of each individual member of the Church. People must be willing to go through the transformation in consciousness whereby they begin to see themselves as spiritual people, as sons and daughters of God. They must be willing to look for and embody my true teachings.

I have given many teachings on with my website that are specifically designed to help people, Catholics and non Catholics alike, go through this personal transformation. I am aware that some of these teachings will be very strong meat for many Catholics. However, if you will honestly look at how certain teachings were deliberately taken out of the Catholic Church, you will realize that what I am giving here is not blasphemy or anathema. What I am giving on my website is my true teachings. If you have any desire to create a church that will survive in the new age, I can assure you that it must be based on the rock of the true teachings of Christ and not on the sands of man-made doctrines and dogmas.

I am indeed the real Jesus Christ, and I am giving this teaching in an attempt to reach every Catholic who has an open mind and heart, every Catholic who loves me more than the outer Church. Consider what is your true love. Do you love an outer organization with all its pomp and circumstance, or do you love the spiritual teacher whom you know as Jesus Christ?

If you know in your heart that you love me, then follow me. Follow my true teachings instead of following the doctrines that were created out of a desire for power and control. I recognize that this is a strong message that will require some soul-searching by many Catholics. Yet if you have read this message, it can only be because at some level of your being you are ready for this message.

I am not asking you to follow any outer teachings. I am asking you to go within your heart, establish contact with me and then follow your inner directions. Follow your highest love. Seek me with a pure heart, and you will find me. I will then show you what you can personally do to serve my cause on earth, whether it be through an outer organization or in other ways.

I am the Good Shepherd and I am here to call you home. Your home is not an outer organization. Your home is my Sacred Heart, and the key to being in my Sacred Heart is to discover that you have a portion of my Sacred Heart deep within your own heart.
Stop looking for me outside yourself.
Go within.

Knock on the door in your heart, and the door to the Christ consciousness shall indeed be opened to you.

A female pope?

TOPICS: Church far removed from Jesus’ true teachings – would take time for a female pope –

Question: Could Jesus envision a female Pope?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

Yes, I can indeed envision a female Pope. Yet I am aware that most Catholics would find this very hard to accept. This simply demonstrates how far Catholic Church culture is removed from my true teachings, my true vision and my mindset.

Let me say though that I do not envision a female Pope in the immediate future. Even if Church policy was to change tomorrow, it would take some time before church culture had changed enough that a woman could be elected as Pope. It would also take time before any woman could gain the necessary outer experience and mindset to be able to serve in this position.

Women as Catholic priests

TOPICS: Unfair to exclude women from religious offices – organizations need balance between masculine and feminine –

Question: Should the Catholic Church allow women to become priests or other types of church leaders?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

As I have explained elsewhere, part of my mission was to reinstate women to their rightful role. I also explained that women did not cause the fall of the human race, and therefore it is unfair and unnecessary to exclude them from certain religious activities.

As I explained in my comments on the spiritual cause of homosexuality, it is important that each lifestream attains balance between its masculine and feminine aspects. A lifestream cannot climb to the higher levels of the spiritual path without attaining this balance.

On an outer level, it is equally important that any organization attains the correct balance between the masculine and feminine aspects of human nature. This can most easily be done when the organization has the right balance between men and women in its membership and leadership.

In fact, it is extremely difficult for an organization to attain this state of balance if it is run exclusively by men or exclusively by women. So the short answer is that I strongly encourage a reform of church policy which would allow women to attain positions as not only priests but also high-ranking leaders.

If you take a look at the organization created by Mother Teresa, can you have any doubt whatsoever that women are fully capable of creating and running a spiritual organization? Yet I will say that even Mother Teresa’s organization would benefit from a better balance between men and women, as would the entire Catholic Church.

What would Jesus say about the Catholic Church?

TOPICS: The claim that our religion is the only true one springs from duality – any church must grow in order to meet the changing needs of its followers – change should come from within – Catholics must follow the path of Christhood – the masters will help renew the church if people will listen – Catholics must stop being passive – do not base your faith on anything on earth – abandon concept of infallibility – do all doctrines come from God? – How can people believe Jesus would condone violence by the church? – blindness of church leaders – infallibility gives absolute power to the mind of anti-christ – many corruptions and wrongdoings waiting to be exposed – church will lose members at accelerated rate unless it is reformed –

Question: I am not a Catholic, and I have no axes to grind with the Catholic Church. Nevertheless, based on what you are saying, it seems to me that you would like to see the Church change. I would like to give you the opportunity to comment on what kind of changes you would like to see.

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels:

Let me first say something about the relativity of the dualistic mind. One of the main goals of religion has been to make people understand that God has created certain laws that are above and beyond, and therefore completely unaffected by, human beliefs. The law is no respecter of persons. The dualistic mind is not able to accept or understand this concept. The dualistic mind is constantly seeking to come up with relative arguments for why this or that situation is an exception to the laws of God. The dualistic mind can justify or condemn anything, and that is why human beings are quick to find fault with others. People create a double standard and feel that they are right while all others are wrong. That is why I used the parable of the mote in your brother’s eye and the beam in your own eye.

People who belong to a particular religion are quick to see certain faults in the followers of other religions. Yet the relativity of the dualistic mind causes such people to believe that because they belong to the only true church, they are somehow above and beyond the faults they see in others. This applies to both members and leaders of the Catholic Church, and for that matter to members and leaders of every other organized religion.

There is an ongoing process of change on this planet and this process is directed by the ascended masters. We want to see change, or rather growth, on this planet, including in the field of religion. We want to see every church evolve and grow so that it can continue to meet the changing needs of its followers. From our perspective it is obvious that the Catholic Church is no exception to this. Unfortunately, many Catholics, leaders and members alike, are not willing to see or accept the need for change.

If, and that is a big if, the Catholic Church is to be reformed, I would like to see change come from within. What I would like to see happen is that a critical mass of Catholics follow the path of individual Christhood and establish conscious contact with their Christ selves. Once a person has established that contact, members of the ascended masters can use that person to bring forth ideas for renewing the Church. There are already a large number of Catholics, members and leaders (unfortunately, primarily low-ranking leaders) who have started this process. However, much more could be done if these people would become consciously aware of the process and make a determined effort to establish contact with their Christ selves.

The next thing that needs to happen is for Catholics to overcome the tendency to take a passive approach. Too many Catholics are in a passive state of mind and think all they can do is pray for God to save or reform the Church. Everything on earth is subject to the free will of human beings. I simply do not have the authority to step in and change the Catholic Church against the free will of its members and leaders. So it does little for Catholics to pray to me, “Jesus, please save the Church, please reform the Church.”

Instead, Catholics need to change their paradigm and take an active approach. They might pray, “Jesus, please show me how I can help save the Church. Please show me how I can play an active role in reforming the Church.” If people were to do this with sincere hearts and open minds, I can assure you that both I, and many other members of the ascended masters, most notably my beloved Mother Mary, would respond immediately. We would pour out such a blessing of guidance and direction that even an organization as complex and calcified as the Catholic Church could be reformed into a church that could continue to meet the needs of its followers for generations to come.

What I am trying to show you is that we of the ascended masters do not want the Catholic Church to collapse or disappear. This is not because we have some kind of loyalty to the Catholic Church. The Church is, as I said earlier, simply one tool among many that we use to raise the consciousness of humankind. The reason I would like the Catholic Church to be reformed into a modern church is that I have great love for the millions of sincere Catholics who would feel lost without the Church. Many lifestreams are currently disturbed by the challenges facing the Church, such as the sexual abuse by priests. I do not want to see these lifestreams lose their faith in the Catholic Church because that would throw them into a crisis, and they would feel like they are in a vacuum. I would like to avoid having so many Catholics thrown into such a crisis because I know they are ill-prepared to handle it.

My foremost desire is to see a large number of Catholics walk the path of personal Christhood so that they can preserve their faith in God and Christianity no matter what happens to the outer Church. Millions of Catholics are in a vulnerable position of feeling that their faith in God and Jesus Christ depends on the outer Church. Obviously, based on everything I have said on my website, that is a situation I would like to see changed as quickly as possible.

If you are concerned about spiritual growth, you cannot allow your faith in God to be affected by any of the relative conditions found in this world. You cannot allow your faith in God to be based on the shifting sands of the human consciousness. It must be based on the rock of Christ, the rock of the Christ consciousness that can only be attained by going inside yourself.

The most important general change that could happen in the Catholic Church would be that the Church as an organization would make an effort to abandon the concept that the Church has to be infallible. If you look at the history of the Catholic Church, you will see that the claim of infallibility has created numerous problems for the Church and its followers. As one obvious example, take the fact that the medieval Church created doctrines which stated that the earth was the center of the universe. The Church claimed that these doctrines were infallible. When the first scientists discovered evidence that contradicted church doctrine, the Catholic Church had no other option but to try to suppress those findings. Obviously, every modern Catholic realizes that the earth is not the center of the universe. The only logical conclusion is that the so-called infallible doctrines of the medieval Church were not infallible. Most Catholics realize this, but they fail to take the next step.

The Catholic Church makes the claim that a doctrine is infallible because the Church claims that the doctrine came directly from God. If it came from God, then it should be correct. Medieval Catholics did not know that the earth was not the center of the universe, but surely God did. So the only logical conclusion is that the church doctrine about the earth being the center could not have come from God. Most Catholics fail to accept the logical conclusion. If it is proven that at least one doctrine was not infallible, and therefore could not have come from God, then how many other church doctrines did not come from God?

There are many reasons why Catholics do not want to think about these things. One is the fear of losing their faith in the Church and being left in a vacuum. Nevertheless, if the Church is to be reformed, it is absolutely necessary that Catholics make a sincere effort to take a look at the history of the Church and determine when the Church went astray from the true teachings of Christ and instead became engulfed in human power plays that sprang from the relativity of the lower mind.

I think it should be obvious to anyone that some of the atrocities perpetrated by the Catholic Church, be it the Crusades, the Inquisition, the massacre of the Cathars or the violent split over the issue of Christ’s divinity, simply could not have come from God and could not be approved by God. I completely fail to understand how people can claim to be followers of Jesus Christ and at the same time believe that the teacher who gave the sermon on the mount could condone the use of violence by the Catholic Church. How is it possible that human beings can fail to see that I, Jesus Christ, never wanted to create a Christian church that oppressed people in the same way that the Jewish religion oppressed people.

Don’t people see that I was in constant opposition to the leaders of the Jewish religion? Don’t they understand that I denounced those leaders because they had set themselves up as the only link between the people and their God? Don’t they understand that the essence of my message was that you do not need any outer, or human, authority in order to reach God? You can reach God directly in your heart by doing what Paul said: “Let that mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.”

How can anyone fail to see this? How can anyone fail to accept the only possible conclusion, namely that the Catholic Church has not always been in alignment with the true teachings and the true intent of Jesus Christ. When you see that the Catholic Church is out of alignment with the true intent of Christ, isn’t it obvious that people need to make a sincere effort to bring the Church back in alignment with the teachings of Christ?

Unfortunately, this is obvious only to a person who has reached some measure of personal Christhood. It is not obvious to a person who is still trapped in the relativity of the dualistic mind. As long as people remain trapped in the dualistic mind, they will refuse to see any evidence that speaks against their chosen beliefs.

I hope you can sense that I am very passionate about these things. I feel a strong passion for helping people see beyond the dualistic mind and see what needs to happen, not only to the Catholic Church but to every religion on earth.

Nevertheless, I am also at peace in my acceptance of the Law of Free Will. I accept that Catholics have the right to do whatever they want with their church. However, if they do decide to do whatever they please with the Church, I would much prefer that they would stop claiming that it is the only true Church of Jesus Christ. If the Church is influenced by the relativity of the dualistic mind instead of the rock of the Christ mind, then it simply cannot be the Church of Jesus Christ.

So I accept that Catholics have a right to do whatever they want with their church. However, I will not fail to warn them of what will happen if they continue down the path that the Church has been following for over 1,500 years.

The problem with the concept of infallibility is that it gives absolute power to the relativity of the dualistic mind. When you have a set of church leaders who are influenced by the relativity of the dualistic mind, and yet those leaders claim (and their followers believe) that they are bringing forth the infallible word of God, you have suddenly put the relativity of the dualistic mind in a position of absolute power. This leads to a suppression of the truth and a denial of error. This leads to a tension that will continue to build and has now been building in the Catholic Church for 1,500 years.

What you have seen in recent years in terms of an exposure of the sexual abuse by Catholic priest is only the tip of the iceberg of what is waiting to be exposed in terms of corruption and wrongdoings within the Catholic Church. I can assure you that there is a mountain of wrongdoings waiting to be exposed. So far, Church authorities have managed to keep the lid on these wrongdoings, but their time is quickly running out.

Spiritual cycles have changed, and it is no longer possible for the Catholic Church to hide behind its claim of infallibility. In the coming years and decades, there will continue to be the exposure of corruption and wrongdoings within the Catholic Church. If the Church resists this and refuses to openly admit its errors and reform itself, it will lose members at an accelerated rate until it literally becomes an insignificant church.

If the Church is willing to openly admit the errors of the past and make sincere efforts to correct those errors, the Church could indeed be transformed without losing or destroying the faith of its members. The key issue is that the Church must abandon the concept of infallibility.
In the book, The Christ Is Born in You, I have attempted to make the point that you will never find an infallible doctrine on planet earth. It is not possible to bring forth, in this relative world, an infallible or absolute description of God. All descriptions of God are incomplete, and they will naturally be expanded as people raise their consciousness. The claim to infallibility is unnecessary and counterproductive. It never served the cause of Christ, and it never served the true cause of the Catholic Church.

In the past, it has served to bring the Catholic Church into a position of power, but that is not in the interest of Christ and it is not in the true interest of the Church itself. We have now reached the point of no return, and the Catholic Church cannot keep hiding behind its power. If it will not openly and willingly change, it will simply collapse under its own weight, the weight of 1,500 years of the misuse of power.

I realize this is a very stern message. I realize that many Catholics do not want to hear this message. Let those who have ears, hear my words.

Is there a need for a black church?

TOPICS: Scapegoating – focusing on others means you are ignoring the beam in your own eye – lack of self-esteem – feeling like victims – pastor reflects psychology of congregation – salvation by default – deficit approach – not actions but your state of mind – Jesus’ teachings about taking responsibility – Christianity became a major religion because power elite used it to keep people in victim mindset – Many African Americans in victim mindset – self-reinforcing spiral – idolatry of leaders – negative and positive examples – America gives a unique opportunity to transcend race – Being a Christian and being a racist are incompatible – the division in Christianity – African Americans have a unique opportunity to bring change – the power elite will not change society –

Question: Greetings Jesus, I am an african american woman who grew up in the baptist church. I no longer claim to be a Christian as I have found that the teachings do not resonate with my inner being. Certain questions could not be answered and I eventually sought after a higher teaching. It is my observation that members of black churches put their pastors/reverends/bishops up on a pedestal and worship them as if they are God. Many black church leaders preach condemnation of homosexuals from their pulpits and make individuals from that particular sexual orientation feel like they are disgusting in the eyes of God and unworthy of “his/her” love. Unfortunately, many of the members of these congregations blindly follow such hateful teachings and so the cycle of judgement continues. Recently, there have been allegations made against an extremely powerful black televangelist in regards to his inappropriate relations with young males. Ironically, this televangelist is a strong opposer of homosexuality and gay marriage. So my question is; how do we as a people find the middle way to approach our faith and not put all of our trust in man? What will it take for black people to realize that shouting from the pulpit while wearing platinum jewelry and diamonds along with having a $100,000 car parked out in the church’s driveway does not constitute direct connection, blessings, and favor from the Creator?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels: (June 6, 2011)

Let me use this question to raise the larger question: Is there a need for Christian churches that are exclusively for African Americans—is there a need for a black church?

Let us first look at why people tend to put down others. There are a number of pastors in fundamentalists churches – both African American and white – who are condemning homosexuality, yet have issues with their own sexuality.

However, if you look beyond homosexuality, you see that what is behind this is a general psychological mechanism, called scapegoating. This mechanism is typical for a certain type of organization, and it does not have to be a religious organization. The obvious historical example is Nazism, but there have been many types of repressive organizations that have also singled-out another group of people or even individuals and have turned them into scapegoats.

Why are people doing scapegoating? Why are they ignoring my command to NOT focus on the splinter in the eye of their brothers? Well, it is always because they are not willing to look at the beam in their own eye.

They are using the condemnation of other people to draw attention away from themselves and something unresolved in their own psychology. Basically, whenever you project anything upon other people, what you project is a reflection of what is unresolved in your own psychology.

So what you see in people like this is a lack of self-esteem. Yet you also see that these people are not willing to truly work on improving themselves, so they could build true self-esteem. And this unwillingness is “justified” by creating the mental image that people cannot improve themselves because they have been victimized, oppressed or downtrodden. Such people have a very fixed view of life. They think they are confined to a certain station, yet they still believe they will be saved, partly because the scapegoat is at a lower station than themselves and partly because they have these elevated leaders who have promised to take them to heaven.

In any organization, people get the leaders they deserve, meaning that the leader is always a more extreme example of the unresolved psychology of a majority of the members in the organization. So in a church organization, the behavior of the pastor is a reflection of the unresolved psychology of the congregation.

I am not thereby saying that if a church is condemning homosexuals, it shows that a majority of the members have homosexual tendencies. But it does show that a majority of them have unresolved psychology that they are not willing to look at, and therefore they are willing to condemn other people in order to feel that they do not have to look at themselves. This is a mindset of being the “downtrodden,” where you deep down feel that there must be something wrong with you in God’s eyes, but if you can make it seem like some other group is so much worse than you, then you can feel that God will accept you, because you are not doing the bad things that the scapegoat is doing.

When you take a closer look, you see that this is a very illogical mindset. It is a kind of deficit approach, where you realize you are not meeting the criteria that you think God is using, but instead of focusing on improving yourself, you seek to put other people down. If you take this attitude to its logical extreme, it seems to say that “Well, we aren’t good enough to be saved, but God has to save someone, so if we can make others look worse than we do, then God has to pick us by default.”

The flaw here is that God doesn’t have to save anyone. God has given all people free will, so it is people’s own choices that determine whether they will be saved or not.

The belief behind the downtrodden mindset is that entry into God’s kingdom is determined by what you do and don’t do. Yet I clearly said that the kingdom of God is within you. And what is within you is your state of consciousness, meaning that your entry into God’s kingdom is exclusively determined by your own state of consciousness. Because being in the kingdom of God is a matter of whether you are inside or outside the state of consciousness that IS the kingdom.

In God’s kingdom all life is one – I and my father are one – so as long as you think you have to judge other people, you cannot be in the state of consciousness that sees the oneness of all life. Because when you see that all life is one, you can only seek to raise up all life. And thus, as long as you judge or feel the need to put down or change other people, you cannot enter the kingdom, as Portia so eloquently explained.

If you understand my original teachings and mission, you see that the path – the Way – that I taught and demonstrated was specifically for people who were willing to transcend this downtrodden mindset and take full responsibility for their salvation. You can also see that back then, there were not very many people in embodiment who were ready for this approach. And thus, had my original teachings been preserved, Christianity would never have become a major world religion. And indeed, it was never my intention to create a religion that would serve to keep people trapped in the downtrodden mindset.

So the brutal fact is, that the reason Christianity did become a major world religion is that some among the power elite in the Roman Empire realized they could use a perversion of my teachings to suppress people to the ultimate degree. The ultimate form of suppression is when people are completely controlled by a power elite on earth while being firmly convinced that by following these earthly leaders, they are guaranteed to make it into the kingdom of heaven. This appeals to those in the downtrodden mindset, those who will not take responsibility for themselves but want to be the blind followers of the blind.

In today’s world, there are many more lifestreams who are ready to take responsibility for their lives on earth and for their salvation. They can be found in all groups, but they are – of course – not equally distributed. In other words, there are some groups of people who have a lower percentage of mature lifestreams, because of the prevailing mindset that is being upheld by this group of people.

Do you see what I am saying? There are no black lifestreams, white lifestreams, hispanic lifestreams, red lifestreams, yellow lifestreams or polka-dotted lifestreams. Yet in every group, there are lifestreams with varying degrees of maturity. And if a group of people has a collective sense of identity that discourages people from taking responsibility for themselves – the downtrodden mindset – then that group will attract more immature lifestreams, simply because they get what they want: the perfect excuse for not taking responsibility for themselves.

If you take an honest look at African Americans – and also at many of the groups found in Africa itself – you see a tendency for people to have the downtrodden mindset. African Americans collectively reinforce a certain sense of identity as being disadvantaged, as being put down or as being persecuted. And as with everything else, such an attitude becomes a self-reinforcing downward spiral.

It is typical for the members of such groups that they do not want to take any initiative, to stand out from the crowd. And the consequence is that such people idolize their leaders, put them up on a pedestal and think they can do nothing wrong. Because only if you are following an infallible leader, can you believe that leader will take you to heaven.

What can break the self-reinforcing spiral? Well, two things. One is that such groups attract leaders who love to be idolized and who often think they really are infallible. Yet such leaders will inevitably be the focal points for the collective consciousness, so they will act out their unresolved psychology. This might be in buying fancy cars or jewelry, it might be in acting out on hidden homosexual tendencies or it might be in having affairs, gambling, pornography or other types of conduct that is not in accordance with what the leader is preaching.

In other words, whatever mental image the group has created for what determines you entry into heaven, the leader will act out to shatter it, so the people can begin to see that idolatry does not work, and they need to take responsibility for themselves. The people get an opportunity to look at their own unresolved psychology.

The other factor that can help people is that they have positive examples from within their group. Right now, African Americans have a unique opportunity to overcome the downtrodden mindset, because the President of the United States has black skin. In the previous administration, you saw Colin Powell, who was also an outstanding example of an African American who had risen beyond the downtrodden mindset. And, of course, Oprah Winfrey is another example along with many others.

If you take a look at what made it possible for these and many other African Americans to do something outstanding in society, you will see something very profound. America is a society that has many splinter groups and has a higher degree of racial animosity than any other democratic country. Yet these animosities are truly at a surface layer of consciousness. If you go beyond them, you see that America is founded on the kind of universal principles embodied in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.

This means that in America, there is a unique opportunity for individuals from any background to succeed—IF they can align themselves with these universal principles. In other words, honesty, personal integrity, fairness, dedication and a true love for your fellow humans will get you far in America, no matter your background.

Colin Powell did not succeed because he has black skin, nor did he succeed despite of it. He succeeded by transcending the downtrodden mindset and espousing the universal state of consciousness that the ascended masters are upholding as our vision for the future of America. Anyone can follow the examples of such leaders, for the motto of the ascended masters has always been: What one has done; all can do.

Yet the problem is that if people cling to the downtrodden mindset, they will not see their examples as examples. They will idolize them and see them as exceptions, as humanity has largely done to me. And that is when people lock themselves into closed systems, which become subject to the second law of thermodynamics. Something will have to break down people’s mental images, be it a pastor acting out or someone with a similar attitude burning down your church.

You see, the real problem with the “black church” in America is precisely that it sees itself as the black church. Especially in the southern states, you see so many churches that have exclusively black congregations and that will not welcome white or hispanic people. Thus, the attitude of animosity that I just talked about is precisely focused in the southern states among two groups of people, namely members of black churches and white churches of a fundamentalist persuasion.

Thus, it is highly unfortunate that the very focal points for racism are found among people who are firmly convinced that they are “good Christians.”

What did Paul – the person who was instrumental in making my teachings universal – say in the letters attributed to him:

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:27-29)

Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. (Colossians 3:11)

What the power elite did long ago was to turn my true teachings into a tool for their oppression of the people. And they did this by turning my all-inclusive teachings into a system that divided people into those that will be saved and those that will not—the latter being the scapegoats.

If you blindly follow the leaders here on earth and if you hate those other people that your leaders tell you to hate, then you are sure to go to heaven without having to look at the beam in your own eye. This system very much appeals to people in the downtrodden mindset. And it has the effect of keeping people in that downtrodden state of consciousness—because if you don’t follow the leaders blindly, you will sink into the outcast category and thus miss out on salvation.

Yet the message I truly came to bring to the downtrodden was that there is no such thing as an artificial division that separates some people from going to heaven based on criteria on earth. In other words, regardless of what the power elite is saying, people from ANY background in earthly society can make it to heaven—IF they embody the universal principles that I demonstrated, the very same universal principles written into the American Constitution.

Do you see what this means? African Americans have a downtrodden mindset that prevents many people from taking any kind of initiative. They think that since it was white people who suppressed them, it must also be white people who have to take the first steps towards ending the repression.

Yet when you truly understand the message of Christ, you see why this is not so. It is precisely the downtrodden who have the highest opportunity to become the teachers of the Way of Christ, by demonstrating that they will use the true teachings of Christ to raise themselves above the station in life to which they have been “condemned” by the power elite and by the mass consciousness of their own group.

There is no need for a black church in America, for people who are truly Christian will worship together, regardless of any outer differences, such as, but not limited to, race. Yet African Americans cannot sit there and wait for the white folks to initiate this change, although some pastors with foresight have indeed done so. It is not the white people’s responsibility; it is indeed the karmic opportunity of black people to initiate this change in American society and in the collective consciousness.

Do you see the hidden message of Christ? It is not the elite that will create change in society; it is those who come from a humble background yet are willing to transcend it by coming into oneness with the universal Christ mind.

It is time for African Americans to raise themselves above the mindset of being African American and indeed ascend to the identity of being Universal Americans. For only those who see themselves and all other people as sons and daughters of God can call themselves true Christians—and true Americans.

It is not what you “do” on earth that will get you to heaven. It is what you “undo” on earth – in terms of raising yourself above all man-made graven images – that will get you into the kingdom of heaven, in which all are one in Christ because Christ is all and in all.

Holy Fire in the Orthodox Church

TOPICS: Jesus does not produce the Holy Fire – seeking a visible sign is trying to serve God and mammon – people produce it through their collective consciousness – The Arian controversy and the formation of the Orthodox Church – go beyond needing a sign –

Question: Every year, during the celebration of the feast of Easter, according to the calendar of the eastern Orthodox Church, in a tradition that goes back to the first centuries, the Orthodox Patriarch of the church of Jerusalem enters the tomb of Jesus in the church of the resurrection. After he prays, a miraculous light appears in the tomb and lights a candle in the hand of the Patriarch. Then, he gives this light to the people (the faithful) who are waiting in the court of the church, outside the tomb.

Now, the question is this: Is this light real, coming from you? How can we understand this event which happens every year only in the Orthodox Service and according to the calendar of the Orthodox Church?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels: (August 2, 2010)

The “Holy Fire,” as it is commonly called, is not a phenomenon that is coming from me, produced by me or sponsored by me. Why would I give such a visible sign when I said:

An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. (Matthew, 12:39)

In this context, the expression “adulterous” does not refer to extra-marital affairs but to those who are adulterous in a spiritual sense, because while claiming to serve God, they also want a visible sign. Thus, they seek to serve both God and “mammon,” another coded expression for the things of this world. They want God or Spirit to conform to their expectations.

This, of course, is the fallen consciousness, which is always seeking to make Spirit conform to its graven images. And precisely because the universe is a mirror, it will indeed seem – at least for a time – as if Spirit is willing to conform. Yet in reality, it is only the Ma-ter Light and not Spirit that is conforming. Thus, what people see as a miraculous sign from the Spirit world is only themselves becoming self-fulfilling prophecies by projecting mental images upon the Ma-ter light.

This is how the fallen consciousness becomes a closed circle, a spiritual catch-22, from which it can be difficult for people to escape. The visible signs, of course, making it even more difficult, which is why both I and other masters are reluctant to give them, especially in the modern age.

In other words, while the actual lighting of the candles in the hand of the patriarch is produced by material means, much of the phenomena witnessed by the congregation in the church is produced by psychic means. If you bring together people in a certain place at regular intervals, they can indeed produce various phenomena through their combined mental powers. In fact, all of the unbalances on planet earth are produced through the collective consciousness of the people who have embodied here for a very long time.

If you take an honest look at how the eastern Orthodox Church was formed, you will see that it started with the Arian Controversy, that initiated the split between the Catholic Church and the eastern Orthodox Church. If you study the methods used by both sides, you will see that neither could have been a true representative of Christ, because both were so obviously caught in the dualistic mindset. Thus, this pivotal conflict marked the point where Christianity was definitively and – so far – irreversibly taken over by the dualistic mindset.

My point being that I do not sponsor the eastern Orthodox Church any more than I sponsor the Catholic Church. Thus, I have no desire to give a visible sign to make this church seem like the only true church of Christ.

Also, given that we have now entered the Aquarian age, it has become even more important that people move out of the mindset that wants or requires visible signs. It is now essential for people to go beyond outer signs and sharpen their inner discernment, so that their spirituality is based on inner knowing—as opposed to outer “signs,” in which I include intellectual interpretations of scriptures or even ascended master teachings.

In the Aquarian age, the only form of spirituality that will endure is the one that is based on people acquiring what I called the “key of knowledge,” which of course, is a symbol for the Christ consciousness that my entire website is meant to help people attain.

Question: I would like to hear Jesus’ view on the recent removal of Pastor Ted haggard, the minister of the Evangelical New Life Church in Colorado, who confessed to sexual immorality. Why would a person be attracted to becoming a minister in a Christian church, if he has a problem that is contrary to what his church preaches? How did his evangelical beliefs – which seem very different from what Jesus teaches on this website, and quite frankly from what Jesus says in the Bible – play into the situation?

Answer from ascended master Jesus through Kim Michaels: (November 11, 2006)

As I explain throughout my website, we are entering an age in which the consciousness of humankind is being raised. This is happening mainly because the top ten percent of the most spiritually mature people are serving as forerunners for a new spiritual awareness. One effect of this is that things that have remained hidden for decades, centuries and even millennia will become visible. This applies both to people’s personal lives and to broader issues. The purpose of this exposure is to make it easier to tell the difference between what is real and unreal, so people are given a better opportunity to choose reality over the dualistic unreality produced by the human ego. If you want a Biblical reference, here is one:

For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad. (Mark 4:22)

It is becoming increasingly difficult for people to hold a position in a church that claims to represent Christ while having something hidden in their personal life. It will become more difficult for people to hide their hypocrisy, their inability or unwillingness to practice what they preach, to walk their talk. It will also become more difficult for churches to maintain a facade of representing Christ while their doctrines are out of touch with my Living Truth. The most dramatic – so far – exposure of such inconsistencies is the sexual abuse scandal in the Catholic church. Pastor Haggard is simply another example, and I can assure you that others will follow with exposures of various types of inconsistencies. In fact, those who are the most vocal – and arrogant – in proclaiming the superiority of their church and its doctrines are the most likely to be exposed.

The effect will be not only to humble them, but also to – hopefully – awaken them and their followers to the fact that they have failed to follow my commandment:

Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch. (Matthew 15:14)

Obviously, I am willing to help Ted Haggard and his followers, but the fact of the matter is that I can do nothing for any of them as long as they are unwilling to confront their blindness and admit that they have followed a man-made doctrine that is far from the reality of Christ. However, they will be able to do so only when they take responsibility for themselves and admit that the key to salvation is not an external savior. As I explain throughout this website, the real key to salvation is to attain the Christ consciousness, which means that you must overcome the division in your own psyche—by pulling the beam in your own eye, the ego, which causes you to be a house divided against itself.

As can be seen by studying the Catholic sex abuse scandal, it is an undeniable fact that churches with an absolutist belief system attract people to the ministry who have a variety of psychological problems. These people often hope that by becoming a minister, they can either suppress their problems or God will somehow take the problems away from them so they can serve him better. This is the dream of an automatic salvation that is so characteristic of the human ego. I am not here saying that this applies to all ministers, but it does apply to a substantial portion of them, a far larger portion than most people are willing to acknowledge.

Obviously, the belief system and doctrines of the evangelical church will attract people who have not taken responsibility for their own psyches or for their salvation. That is why they are attracted to a belief system that portrays them as passive beings who are the rope in a tug of war between God and the devil. In Ted Haggard’s case, he could reason that his sexual tendencies were caused by the devil—who was threatened by his ministry and thus trying to destroy him. In reality, the cause is a division in his own psyche that he caused many lifetimes ago—a fact he would deny. Nevertheless, the problem will not go away until he stops looking for outside causes and stops looking for an external savior to take it away from him.

Unfortunately, the Evangelical belief system gives him no tools for performing such a process of inner self-examination. Instead, it gives his ego the perfect excuse for focusing all attention outside himself. Sure, he can claim that he is taking responsibility, but he is still influenced by a belief system which portrays the cause of the problem as the devil and the solution as the external savior, namely I, Jesus, who is supposedly going to do all the work for him.

The stark reality is that I cannot save Ted Haggard. I can help him heal his psyche and become whole, but I cannot do so until he is willing to look at the beam in his own eye and acknowledge that he created it and that he has to remove it by consciously overcoming the imperfect beliefs that caused it. After he begins to strive to become whole, he can eventually enter the higher state of consciousness that I called the kingdom of God, as quoted throughout the scriptures.

So it should be obvious to those who have ears to hear that a belief system which teaches that the Bible is infallible – and that modern religious people need nothing else to solve their problems – will create a closed box that makes it very difficult for people to overcome their psychological problems. And quite frankly, all problems known to human beings start in the psyche. Thus, the real key to salvation is to strive for psychological wholeness so you are no longer a house divided.

Until Ted Haggard and all other mainstream Christians acknowledge this fact of life, they will remain outside my reach. Confessing Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior – while thinking I will do all the work for you by taking away your sins – will not get you closer to wholeness. It will only push your problems into the subconscious mind, where they will grow in strength until they surface again with even more force than before. There is nothing hid which shall not be manifested.

The essence of the problem here is that too many Christians define sin as something you did under the influence of the devil. In reality, sin is a decision to accept a dualistic lie, which then creates a division in your psyche. Obviously, many such lies were constructed by the devil, but you still had to make the decision to accept it, and therefore only you can make the decision to “unaccept” it.

Thus, the core of sin is a decision that you made—often in a lifetime that lies far back in time. I could take away the effects of that decision in an act of grace, but I cannot – because of the law of free will – change your mind for you and undo the decision. Only you can do that, and that is why I cannot absolve your sins until you undo the original decision that causes the sin. If I did so, it would only set you free of the karmic burden and thus give you power to sin even more—which you will inevitably do until the original decision is undone.

I know mainstream Christians will vehemently deny this, but you simply need to ask yourself some logical questions. If it really is true that the spilling of my blood on the cross has taken away people’s sins – past, present and future – then why did I not simply say that and give no further teachings? If my blood has taken away people’s sins, why bother giving so many teachings aimed at changing people’s minds and actions? If I am paying for people’s sins, why bother trying to get them to stop sinning? Why did I say:

5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. (John, Chapter 2)

Do you think “being reborn” could possibly refer to an inner process, whereby you overcome all divisions in your psyche and become a new person in Christ? Not through some outer measure of confessing me as your Lord and Savior, but through an inner process whereby you can enter the kingdom of God, which I said is located in a very special place:

Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. (Luke 17:21)

Obviously, I wish I could help the millions of Christians who are stuck in such an absolutist belief system. Unfortunately, such belief systems form such an impenetrable mental box around people’s minds that it often takes a very dramatic event for people to crack the box open. Thus, the Catholic sex scandal did open the minds of many Catholics, and I am hopeful that some of Ted Haggard’s former followers will likewise open their minds to my true teachings. Unfortunately, the price is that some people lose all faith.

It remains my wish that people could voluntarily open their minds, so we do not have to see even more severe scandals that rock people’s faith in all religion. Yet I must warn people that the harder they hold on to absolutist belief systems, the harder will be the blows that will break them down. This is not an age that will be gentle with institutions or ministers that hold on to doctrines that were never true to my teachings but which have now become left behind by the forward movement of life itself.

Kim: I just read that Ted Haggard will enter a rehabilitation program overseen by some prominent evangelical ministers. It will consist of four elements:

• He must submit to his councilors.
• He must admit his sins.
• He must make restitution.
• He must be humbled.

What do you think about such a program?

Jesus: It simply underscores what I said earlier, namely that fundamentalist churches do not have the tools to help people overcome deep psychological problems. Just take a look at how much the world has changed over the past 2,000 years. Look at how much more humankind knows about the world and about the human psyche. Then consider how unrealistic it is that a scripture that was set in stone almost 17 centuries ago will be able to help you solve the problems people face in the modern world.

Consider how little people knew about the psyche 2,000 years ago. How could I give the teachings about the human ego that I can give today—people simply could not have understood them, which I tried to explain back then:

I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. (John 16:12)

This quote alone should have been enough to prevent Christians from creating a closed box and keep them open to listening for my Living Word. Yet Christians who insist on biblical inerrancy refuse to acknowledge the Living Word, and as a result they have no other option than to suppress psychological problems rather than resolving them. This is a systemic problem that lies at the heart of mainstream doctrine, and thus Ted Haggard’s church simply cannot help him overcome his problem, for the church and its doctrines helped him suppress it for many years. It is a fundamental principle of life that you cannot solve a problem with the same state of consciousness that creates or sustains the problem.

The real problem here is that Ted Haggard – and most ministers who misuse their office one way or the other – has a deep split in the psyche. He has one personality that is perfectly happy to submit to the authority of his councilors, admit his sins, make restitution and be humbled. So it will be easy for him to follow such a program, but until the underlying problem is addressed, he will be no closer to wholeness. Thus, the church can claim – at some future time – that he is fully restored, but nothing will have changed below the surface.

Kim: In the official letter that Ted Haggard sent to his church, he said that he has been aware of the problem for many years and did seek help, but that it did not remove the problem.

Jesus: And the reason is that he sought help within the closed box of his Christian belief system. Yet when you try to resolve a problem based on a certain belief system and if the problem does not go away, then it is time to go beyond that belief system. As Einstein said, if you keep doing the same thing and expect different results, you are insane. Yet when people have become stuck in a fundamentalist belief system, they cannot see this obvious truth, and thus they have no other option than seeking to suppress the problem.

Kim: It seems that is precisely what Ted Haggard did. He said that when he did not overcome the problem, he stopped talking about it in order to avoid hurting the people he loves.

Jesus: And the last claim is simply a typical justification made by the ego. While it might have been what his outer mind thought, the reality is that he had reached a point where he – at some level – realized that his Christian beliefs simply could not help him overcome this problem. So in an attempt to prevent him from breaking free of its control, his ego managed to appeal to his pride and make him cling to his belief system instead of going beyond it. Instead of seeking help the only place it could be found – outside his mental box – he decided to cling to that box and force himself to conform to its outer standards. His ego managed to make him believe that if he played the part of a genuine representative of Christ, he would become one without dealing with the split psyche that is a product of the ego.

Kim: Ted Haggard actually says in the letter that his public personality is not a lie, it was just incomplete. To me this sounds like he is saying that he really is the pastor everyone knew. He just has this other side that pulls him in a different direction, yet if that could be removed, he would be back to the same pastor they knew.

Jesus: And a statement like that should show perceptive people the essence of the problem. This demonstrates just how far Ted Haggard is from truly admitting his problem. He still clings to the belief that because he has done all these outer things as a pastor – thinking he did them for Christ and that I approve of them – his public persona is real and is not based on a lie. So he simply needs to get rid of the “bad” personality and he will automatically become the good one.

Yet as I have attempted to state gently, he has been a pastor in a church whose entire belief system is out of touch with the reality of Christ. Thus, his entire approach to his ministry is based on a lie, and consequently he has not done it for me or for other people. He has done is because deep within he believes that by doing all these outer things in a Christian church, God simply has to save him. He has attempted to buy his way into heaven without changing himself, without pulling the beam in his own eye, as I explain in the ego discourses.

The stark reality here is that Ted Haggard – and many people like him – has such a deep split in the psyche that both of his personalities are unreal. They are both based on the duality consciousness, the lies of anti-christ. There is ONLY one opportunity for people like that to overcome their problems, and that is for them to finally see that both – or all – of their outer personalities spring from the ego and are based on lies. They must then cast themselves upon the rock of Christ and ask for guidance to consciously see through and rebuke all of the dualistic lies that set the stage for the division. They must literally be spiritually reborn, which is a much deeper process than what evangelicals and other Christians call being born again.

Kim: You sound pretty stern, and it sounds like you don’t hold much hope for such people?

Jesus: Well, I always hold the immaculate concept, but the Christ mind sees everything, including the problem that must be overcome before the immaculate concept can be manifest. Thus, I also see that until people are wiling to look at the central problem, they have not even started the process of overcoming it—no matter how they delude themselves by outer actions or declarations, even outer beliefs that spring from the ego.

If you want to know the full truth, Ted Haggard is just one among many lifestreams who have been on this planet for a long time and have reincarnated many times, often seeking positions of authority in various churches. He was among the group who persecuted me 2,000 years ago, namely the fundamentalist Jews who would not acknowledge the Living Christ when I stood before them in the flesh. Instead, they used their own literal interpretations of the old scriptures in their attempts to condemn me or box me in. They did not want me to do what the Living Christ always does: Challenge people’s mental boxes in order to help them see the need to move higher.

Ted Haggard is truly one of the blind leaders, and if he is to become whole, he must be willing to admit that the division in his psyche goes all the way back to his initial rebellion against the Living Christ, an event that took place before he first incarnated on this planet. Thus, his real problem is that he has not truly submitted to the authority of the Living Christ. And the fact that he in this lifetime has been a prominent pastor in a church that claims to represent Christ does not change that fact.

The fact is that the literalist churches – and I include the Catholic church, which is based on the mindset of Peter – are based on a fundamental denial of the authority of the Living Christ. Instead of accepting the true authority of the Living Christ, they are following an outer authority – an earthly, a man-made authority – that raises a literal interpretation of scripture as the ultimate authority. Look at what the scribes and Pharisees did to me 2,000 years ago. They used scripture to refuse me the right to bring the Living Truth of Christ—demanding that I should conform to a man-made interpretation of a scripture that never was, nor was intended to be, the infallible word of God. It was the exact same mindset as you see in so many fundamentalist Christian preachers today—yet these people have the nerve to claim they are the true representatives of Christ.

What do you think Ted Haggard and the evangelical leaders would say to my website? They would denounce it as the work of the devil and denounce me, the Living Jesus Christ, as a false Christ. In reality, they are the false Christs, and some of them are the very same lifestreams – reincarnated and in positions of claiming to represent Christ – of whom I said:

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. (John 8:44)

I know some will be shocked by my directness and think I should show compassion. Yet for too long have I watched people claiming to be the only true representatives of Christ while spreading the lies of anti-christ disguised as infallible doctrines. It is simply time to expose these people and their lies, and so I take this opportunity to begin a phase that I will surely expand as opportunity arises—which it will. There will be many other exposures of wrongdoings in both church and state.

You will recall that when I was hanging on the cross, I said:

Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. (Luke 23:34)

Well, they still do not fully know what they are doing, but it is high time that they – or at least others – begin to know. And if they will not see what they are doing, then my forgiveness – which has given them an opportunity to continue to re-embody – must be withdrawn, so that they must face their judgment and either bend the knee to the authority of the Living Christ or be judged by their own arrogance, the arrogance that makes them believe they know better than Christ, even better than God.

Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. (Matthew 7:15)

And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. (Matthew 24:11)

For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if [it were] possible, they shall deceive the very elect. (Matthew 24:24)

It is time those who call themselves my followers wake up and realize that a number of these false prophets are appearing now, and they have taken up prominent positions in Christian churches. They claim to represent Christ, but look beyond the surface and you will see the ravening wolves who deny the Living Christ and everything I stand for. It is time people wake up and stop being the blind followers of the blind leaders.
