The Ten Commandments and the levels of consciousness on earth

Question: I am aware of the more recent dictations that say that God’s commandments given to Moses are from an old dispensation and no longer applicable on earth. But this does not seem realistic from the perspective of Christ discernment. Will one of the ascended masters please clarify?

Well, the correct view of this is that the Ten Commandments were given for a certain level of consciousness. And there are still quite a number of people on earth who are at that level of consciousness. So for these people the Ten commandments are still relevant, because it corresponds to their level of consciousness, and they need to have these very firm commandments, do this do not do that, because it is all they are able to grasp.

Now for many, many people on earth, especially in what we have called the modern nations, they are no longer applicable because they have transcended that level of consciousness. They do not need to have commandments, they need to have understanding of why they should not do this, or why they should do something else. And so this is a result of the growth in consciousness. There is, of course, higher levels where you get this from within through your intuition, you know what to do and not to do.

So, you see that there is the commandment level, there is the level where you have certain ethical or moral principles that guide people, first of all, do unto others as you want them to do unto you. And then there comes the higher level where people tune in individually and sense, what is the right behavior for them. There will always be a range of consciousness, even though in the future there will come a point where nobody is at that Old Testament level of consciousness so they no longer need the Ten Commandments.
