Question: Were there any key messages by Archangel Gabriel, for example reincarnation, conveyed to prophet Muhammad and hidden by his followers after his death? Who was the biggest subverter of such messages, his companion Omar? Is there a kind of Omar consciousness prevailing in the Arab world similar to the Peter consciousness in Christianity? Would Abu Bakr consciousness, a Sufi-like companion help better?

Well, yes there were certainly some messages given to Muhammad by Gabriel that were not even transmitted by Muhammad because in his mind he was not willing to bring this out. There was a filter in the mind of Muhammad, there was a filter not only in Omar, but in other of his followers very similar to the Peter consciousness. In other words, they recognized there was some genuine revelation here but they were very intent on making it conform to their worldview, at least certain aspects of it. And this has of course continued up through history in the Muslim religion just as you see in Christianity and other religions, that there emerges a priesthood who think that they are the only ones who can interpret how the original revelation should be interpreted and it is just a pattern you see everywhere.
Certainly the mystics of every religion have a greater connection to, a greater sense for, the original revelation and its meaning than those who take this outer doctrinal approach. In every religion there emerges a priesthood where among them are fallen beings who are seeking to do what fallen beings always do: using that religion to control the followers. It is not that Islam is any worse than other religions but it is no better either despite what Muslims want to believe but then Christians believe the same, Jews believe the same, Hindus believe the same and so forth.
It is just the human consciousness that does what the human consciousness does and the fallen consciousness that does what it does and if you do not realize this well then you will be a blind follower of the blind leaders as Jesus talked about the scribes and Pharisees of the Jewish religion being the blind leaders of that religion. But there are blind leaders in every religion and there are blind leaders who get angry when anyone says anything about their religion that they do not like to hear because they are not willing to change.
The purpose of the original revelation given to Muhammad was to get the Arab people to change but after some time as happened in other religions the priesthood reinterprets the religion so that people do not have to change because if you just follow the outer rules and the outer doctrines and the outer scriptures you are guaranteed to be saved. Nothing new under the sun here. Every major religion has followed that pattern.
