Question: Despite being a newbie to the ascended masters dispensations, I have grown a fledgling connection to some ascended masters, enough to help me stop personalizing how people treat me. However, I continue to be tripped up by two psychological blocks that limit my progress on the path.
The first is having a distorted view about money.
I am overwhelmed about making decisions about changing my housing situation because I will incur additional cost. Despite having sufficient savings, I excuse my paralysis since I was not able to manage returning to work after having a nervous breakdown. Beneath the trauma-related reasons to fear not having enough money, I wonder if this indecision is an excuse to avoid changing my circumstances and risk pursuing my aspiration to write about my experience with mental illness.
The second obstacle is how I view my physical appearance.
My hair began falling as a teenager from stress from toxic family dynamics, which increases family ridicule about my lack of femininity, which was devastating. I can intellectually appreciate the psychosomatic causes of hair loss after years of psychotherapy, but I become emotionally flooded when I look at my hair. The despair I feel makes socializing an arduous task, limiting my social circle, thereby adding to feelings of isolation from not working and from being single. Can a Master offer any advice about how to shift my view about money and my appearance?
Answer from the Ascended Master Mother Mary through Kim Michaels. This answer was given during the 2026 American Webinar.
Well, we have given many teachings about subconscious selves, so I recommend that you study these teachings, especially the book Healing Your Spiritual Traumas.
The Messenger has also given many YouTube videos on similar topics. What you need to recognize is that at the bottom of these two issues is one or actually several subconscious selves that are based on specific beliefs that you adopted in past lives in traumatic situations. You therefore, need to use the tools and teachings we have given to come to see the selves and let go of the belief that created the self. Again, we have described this process extensively.
In terms of the money situation, you also need to recognize that many spiritual people have a difficult relationship with money, because for thousands of years there has been an ideal that spiritual people are not supposed to have money, or money is the root of all evil and all of these things. This is also a separate self that makes you conflicted about having money, and therefore, you are subconsciously pushing it away from you and feeling you should not have money, and therefore, you should not spend money on something that would benefit yourself and change your situation. Again, these are beliefs you can come to see and expose and let go of.
In terms of your appearance, again, there are subconscious selves, often created over many lifetimes based on the culture, that always values a certain standard for beauty and therefore, puts down all who do not live up to that standard. But again, you can come to see this self, let go of it, and you can come to realize that it is not your looks that determine your attractiveness, but your attitude, your demeanor, your confidence in yourself, your personality. When you work on that, then you can let go of this belief that you can only attract a partner by living up to the standard of beauty in society. You can look at many women who do not live up to that standard, who still have attracted a partner, many men for that matter the same. Therefore, you can gradually let go of this belief that it is your looks that determine whether you can find a partner or not.
