Question: Does a person’s name and surname affect their psychology or fate? And if a person changes their name, their fate and psychology may change as well.
Answer from the Ascended Master Mother Mary through Kim Michaels. This answer was given during the 2024 Easter webinar.
No, it does not. There is, of course, always complexity. You could have a person who has a famous last name, is born into a famous family. And such a person will then be more affected by the collective consciousness of that family, who may want the people to live up to the image of that family, whatever that family is. You see this no more clearly exemplified in the royal family of Britain, where the children are under enormous pressure to fulfill their roles, and where at least one of them has rebelled against it. And the same can be true in other families where they have this very strong image of being an important family. But this, of course, is not so that it affects your fate from a larger perspective. It affects your psychology and how you look at yourself and what you can and cannot do, even what you can allow yourself to do.
And there are many people, of course, who have been pulled into conforming to the expectations of their family and thereby delayed, or even sabotaged their Divine plans, or even missed their ascensions because they were trying to live up to this. It is often necessary for spiritual people to break free of this pull from their family. And to, in some cases, it can be constructive to change their last name in order to break with that strong pull from the family.
