How to improve my connection to Mother Mary

Question: A question for Mother Mary: I feel a deep connection with you, and it manifests as a sensation of warmth, or even intense heat in the center of my chest when I ask you to manifest your presence. This experience has become one of the turning points in my life. I have accepted you as my spiritual mother and feel that I am never truly alone. Could you please explain the phenomenon of warmth in the center of the chest? Is it related to what is often called the opening of the heart?

Kim:There is more to the question, but it is so long that I am just going to let Mother Mary comment on it.

Answer from the Ascended Master Mother Mary through Kim Michaels. This answer was given during the 2026 New Year Webinar.

When you have an intense flow of light, stream of light through any of your chakras, you can feel it as a physical sensation of warmth. Most people will feel this in the heart in the beginning, but you can feel it in other chakras as well. You can say, in this case, when it is the heart chakra, it is related to the opening of the heart, but it really is the opening of any chakra that can be felt this way.

Now, this does not mean I am saying it has to be felt as a physical sensation. I am not meaning that you should now, people in general, strive to have that feeling. I am just saying if it happens, it happens. If not, you let it go.

Back to the question. At present, I am only able to experience your presence for short periods, perhaps because I am not yet able to focus deeply enough or disengage from the outer world. But in the future, I would very much like to develop this connection further. What would you recommend?

Mother Mary: Well, first of all, you need to recognize that experiencing the presence of any master is primarily something you experience when you have time to set aside. You are in a quiet setting. You can close your eyes, go within. This is how you will have it, especially in the beginning. The importance of experiencing the master’s presence is that you recognize that we have a higher level than the human consciousness, that we become your frame of reference for evaluating your personal psychology, for sensing when something is out of alignment with the ascended level.

Therefore, you have a frame of reference for looking at your own psychology. You can also look at things in the world based on this. What I am saying is, it is not necessary to strive to have a constant feeling or connection to my presence or the presence of any ascended master. It does not have to be constant. It does not have to be a long period of time. It is enough that you can tune in for a few seconds, then you have the experience, and then you can go back and focus on your daily life. It is not our goal, as we have said many times, to have our students sit in a cave and meditate on our presence 24 hours a day. It is our goal to have you be able to tune into us when you need it and then go about your daily business most of the time.

Back to the question. I have heard that many students develop personal relationships with the ascended masters and experience them as spiritual parents. Could you comment on this from an ascended perspective? To what extent do such relationships support students in the growth of their consciousness?

Mother Mary: Well, to see us as spiritual parents can be valid enough as a phase. This will mostly apply to people who have problems with their physical parents in this lifetime. If you have problems with your mother, it can be constructive to see me as your spiritual mother, or even see me giving you the emotional support that you did not get from your mother. If you have problems with your father, it can be constructive to seek some ascended master, a male ascended master that you feel close to, and see that as a father figure, getting from that master what your father did not give you.

But ultimately, you need to grow away from this, and not see us as parents, but see us more as your spiritual teachers, or connect to us, just connect to our presence without really having an outer image of what we are to you. You just connect to the presence, and the presence is neither a parent nor a teacher, it is the presence.
