How can ascended master students help improve the situation in Ukraine?

Question: Is there hope that in 2026 Ukraine and Russia may sign a peace agreement and that the hostilities will end? I feel that as a spiritually oriented person living in Ukraine, it is very difficult for me to remain detached and neutral. There are fears regarding my own safety as well as the safety of my family and loved ones. I regularly give invocations for protection from dark forces and participate in vigils. Would you please advise what else I, as a student of the ascended masters, can do to help improve the situation both personally and collectively?

Answer from the Ascended Master Mother Mary through Kim Michaels. This answer was given during the 2026 New Year Webinar.

Well, my beloved, I certainly understand that for many people in Ukraine this is a difficult time. There are also many spiritual people in Russia for whom it is a difficult time, because whether they are consciously aware of this or not, they do sense that something is not going well for Russia. The best thing you can do is to look at your own psychology. I know that it is, of course, very difficult when you are feeling that there could be a physical threat to your life or to your family. But nevertheless, when you cannot change the outer situation, the only thing you can do is change the inner situation. And that means using our tools for discovering the separate selves.

There is a reason why you chose to embody in Ukraine or Russia in this lifetime, and you can work on looking at what it was in your psychology you wanted to overcome by being in this situation. I know this is not much of a comfort, but the fact is, it is the only way to change your personal experience of the situation. In terms of what more you can do to improve the outer situation, you are already doing what you can by giving decrees, invocations, rituals, and by being in embodiment in Ukraine or Russia. Or even if you are Russian or Ukrainian and have left your home country, you are still, by your presence on earth, pulling up on the collective consciousness.

Is there a hope that Ukraine and Russia will sign a peace deal? Well, there is, of course, always hope. But you have to be realistic, and you have to be realistic and say, does Russia want to sign a peace deal? Does Russia want peace as long as Putin’s goals for starting the invasion have not been achieved? And when will that be achieved? You could say it is possible that Ukraine and Russia will sign some kind of deal, but it will not be a peace deal, because for Russia it will just be seen as a temporary step to regroup, to hopefully get some order in the chaos of the military and the chaos of the economy.

There are, of course, Russian leaders who are well aware that the economy has entered a downward spiral that is difficult to stop. I am not saying Vladimir Putin is fully aware of this, because he does not receive all the news that those at lower levels have, because who is going to give him the bad news? This is the same in any dictatorial autocratic system, that the person at the top who is making the decisions does not have the full information and therefore, can only make bad decisions based on a limited view of the situation. The real question here is, will the economy in Russia take such a downward turn that it forces Putin to stop offensive operations in Ukraine?

This is more likely than signing a peace deal. It could be that he realizes he needs to sign a temporary deal in order to avoid an economic disaster. But as I said, that is by far not a given. The more realistic scenario is that as long as Putin thinks the economy can still hold together, he will continue to push forward on the battlefield, because he thinks he can win this way. He thinks that he can outlast the Ukrainian armed forces, he can outlast the support from the West. And as long as he believes this, why would he sign a peace deal?

Again, what can you do? You can work on your own psychology, your own experience, to be as peaceful as possible about this, because the more neutral, the more peaceful you can be, the more your chakras are the open doors for us to radiate energy into the situation. You have to understand here, I hope, that when you are on the outside, looking at this situation from the outside and giving invocations and decrees, yes, your doing this has a positive impact. But when you are on the inside, in Ukraine or Russia, being a spiritual person, giving decrees and invocations, you do have a greater impact, because you are there in the situation.

But the impact you have corresponds to your state of mind. The more peaceful, the more neutral you can be, the greater of an impact you have, because the more your chakras become an open door. Fear will block your chakras to some degree, and therefore, limit how much light we can release through you. The more you can be at peace, the more you can be neutral, the greater impact you can have on your overall situation.

However, as we have said many times before, there is a limit to what the release of light can do, because of free will. Yet, the more light is released, the more people will begin to see the futility of this war. And really, one of the things that can happen in 2026—again, it is not a given, but it can happen—is that more and more Russians begin to object to this. And again, we know very well that this is a difficult situation, because who wants to be thrown in jail for opposing something that they cannot stop anyway, they feel. But still, as we have said before, Putin is artificially kept alive by the Russian people having faith in him as a leader.

Their faith in Putin is going down. And there can come, in 2026 or later, a tipping point, where a critical mass of people now decide they want a different society. They do not want to continue to live in Russia as it is right now. And that will fundamentally change the equation and can bring Putin out of embodiment, which again, will soften up the situation, even though there are other leaders who share his nationalistic view. There is nobody who has quite the grip on Russia that Putin has.
