Question: Could you please advise whether it is meaningful to work with the chakras by combining the generally accepted model used in other spiritual teachings, chakra names, colors, and interpretations with the teachings of the ascended masters, or if one is a student of the ascended masters, is it preferable to rely exclusively on the information given by them? When offering guidance or recommendations to others, is it appropriate to combine both approaches, or is it better to adhere solely to the teachings of the ascended masters?
Answer from the Ascended Master Mother Mary through Kim Michaels. This answer was given during the 2026 New Year Webinar.
If you have experience and a basic understanding of both other teachings and how they talk about the chakras and ascended master teachings, you can very well combine the two. We are not in any way saying that you should be exclusive. The way we are describing the chakras is not the only way they can be described. We are doing what we are doing because we want to relate the chakras to the seven rays. But other spiritual teachings, mostly the Eastern teachings, are not doing this, partly because many of them do not have the same concept of the chakras. It is not that ours is the only truth and all the others are wrong. They are just different modalities.
The question really is, what helps people get more of a feeling for their chakras? And you will see, for example, often that the base chakra is depicted as red, but that is because it is perverted, often by sexual desire. And in the pure state, it expresses the white of the Fourth Ray. It is valuable to know that, but it is also valuable to recognize how most people’s chakras are and how many clairvoyants see the chakras.
You can very well combine the two, but it of course takes a certain understanding and experience with both these other systems and ascended master teachings.
You need to find a way where you look at our teachings, you look at a specific other teaching and you try to combine the two in such a way that people do not see a conflict between them, because obviously that would not be constructive. You need to find a way for the specific system you are working with to explain that system in relation to the ascended master’s talk about chakras. And if you can do this successfully, then by all means, use both approaches or several approaches. But the guiding line really here is, what helps people? What is your goal? What are you seeking to achieve? How is it you want to help people? What you can do is you can take the seven main chakras, relate them to the seven spiritual rays and to a particular ascended master, such as the Chohan, and recommend that people experiment with the decrees and invocations to that Chohan and see if that helps them clear up a certain chakra. But again, it is whatever is appropriate, given the other systems and your goal for helping people.
