Question: The recent removal of Khamenei presents a complex moral dilemma. As a ruthless dictator responsible for the massacre of 30,000 civilians demanding democracy, his departure is undeniably a positive development for the Iranian people. However, the method of his removal, a sudden targeted strike by the United States, without a formal declaration of war, is a clear violation of international law. While the elimination of a tyrant brings immediate relief, is it ultimately beneficial for the Iranian people that this was executed through foreign military intervention? Or for the sake of their nation’s true historical progression and liberation, must the overthrow of such a regime be achieved organically by the citizens themselves?
Answer from the Ascended Master Saint Germain through Kim Michaels. This answer was given during the 2026 Kazakhstan Conference.
A regime change does not have to happen by the citizens themselves physically overthrowing or executing the dictator. But it should ideally happen by a shift in a critical mass of the people where they shift out of the consciousness that has allowed the dictator to control them. And it is perfectly true that removing Khamenei himself has not removed the regime, neither the political leaders, nor the military leaders, nor the Republican Guard. Really, the situation of the Iranian people so far has not really changed. They are probably even more suppressed and feel more suppressed than before.
Now you can look to Venezuela and say, was not this a successful coup by the United States? But what did they do? They basically left the Maduro regime in power. And do the people of Venezuela feel more free than before? Not really, because they are not more free.
What you need to recognize as a spiritual student is that you can look at the physical regime and you can say, if you take a traditional view, “these are the people suppressing the population, these physical people are physically suppressing the population.” But that is never the case. There is always a component of consciousness. There is an element in the Iranian people’s consciousness that has allowed this regime to stay in position for so long. And this is a complex matrix, but the main element is that many among the Iranian people, especially in rural areas, have what we have talked about before, this unwillingness to change themselves and their lifestyle, this suspicion of change, this fear of change, this wanting to hold on to traditional values.
Then you have the element of Islam, which was not there before this current regime came into power. It was not as strong. But it has now been really very heavily put upon the Iranian people. And because they have not been willing to question Islam and they were not really willing to it before either, they have become pulled in by this propaganda of Islam. And if you can see the emotional, mental, identity level, you will see that there is a very, very heavy, very aggressive collective beast hanging over the Iranian nation.
And it is not the physical regime that is preventing change. It is this beast. But the thing is, how does the beast survive? Because there are still too many people feeding their energies into it by being afraid of change and by not wanting, not daring to abandon Islam and demand a secular nation. Now Iran is not the only Muslim nation that has such a beast. All the others have it also. But it is very strong in Iran. And this is what needs to shift. And this is what the people can do, regardless of the physical suppression. They can change the entire equation by stopping to feed their energies to the beast. But so far, not sufficient numbers of people have been willing to do this. And that is why a regime is still in place.
Now of course, what the Americans did and the Israelis did, yes, it is a violation of international law. But it is also an expression of an incredible arrogance of thinking, as we have said so many times, that is characteristic of fallen beings, that they can formulate an image in their mind of how reality should be, and then reality just has to conform to their image.
And you see how Trump, when the Maduro situation happened, felt validated that he could declare how reality is and it would conform to it. But this time it did not work. The question now is, in terms of the American people, will a sufficient number of Trump supporters, including congressmen and senators and members of the Republican body, will they be willing to question the infallibility of their leader? He of course will not be willing to do it himself, as Netanyahu is not able or willing to do it. You can see that there is also a very heavy beast or cloud over America, especially in the Republican states and around Washington, D.C., that is blinding people so they do not dare to question Trump. There is a similar beast over Israel, so they do not dare to question Netanyahu and the aggression of Israel against its neighbors. There are too many people in Israel who have the attitude of living by the sword and thinking this is the only way Israel can survive. And I am not saying that Israel cannot survive by living by the sword, but it cannot survive as a democracy supported by other democratic nations.
