Question: What is the probability that a war in Ukraine will drag on for 2024? Not wanting to get under mobilization, my husband stays home. Because of his sedentary lifestyle, he suffers health problems. Recently, there have been many cases of men being drafted, regardless of their desire to fight, and literally dragged to the military recruitment center by force. Is there any chance that the occupied part of the Zaporizhzhya region will remain under Russia even after the end of the war?

Well, it was certainly our hope that the war would find some kind of resolution sooner than now. But given that this has not happened for a variety of reasons, then it is safest to assume that it will drag on throughout 2024.
It is also a possibility that the occupied regions will remain under Russian occupation throughout this coming year. There are various scenarios that could end the war, and one of these scenarios is that some of these Donetsk regions will join Russia in order to create some kind of peace. I do not want to give particular prophecies because the situation is too fluid. But in your particular situation, it is safest to assume that the war will drag on for the next year.
