Question: For over three years of litigation I have been in material and mental suffering, frustration and anger from the energy drain preventing my spiritual journey and balance between material and spiritual life. However, since it is not just for my own benefit or issue, I constantly question if stopping the dispute by giving up is right, yet realistically I cannot abandon the ongoing lawsuit. I feel the already entangled dispute strengthens the karmic spiral, yet I repeatedly debate whether turning the other cheek as Jesus taught is correct or if that is truly understanding his will. Thinking of numerous injustices and lawsuits where rightful claims are denied as connected accelerations revealing truth, my primal self’s fear seems reinforced. Currently my entire past life feels complexly collapsed, identity shaken.
Of course, I acknowledge it fits a larger lifelong pattern and I am trying to observe the subconscious self. Peaceful resolution failed. The stated lawsuit requires proving one direction to win desired results, so inwardly I question if this is attachment, rationalization or justification. Even the process, objectively and statistically not a difficult case, yields unusual judgment forcing appeals, rejections and Supreme Court struggles leaving me curious about the reasons. Wherever inner conflict arises I want to connect to my I AM Presence, but now even intuition falls into a pattern of doubt. Acknowledging lessons from all this, I want to hear how to achieve balance and what teaching this process holds for me.

What you are describing here is a classical reaction that comes from separate selves. It is also what the Buddha called an attachment or rather several attachments. You have an attachment to the outcome. It is not a matter of whether you should give up or not give up, but what you need to do is truly consider: “I am going to give up.” And then observe your reaction to this. This will help you expose the several subconscious selves that are involved in this. And if you use our teachings and tools to deal with these subconscious selves, you can make progress. You need to look for why it is you feel that you have to do this for other people’s sake and what that says about you and your unwillingness to simply decide for yourself what you want to do or do not want to do.
If you will use our teachings to look at your attachments, look at your reaction, look at your obsessive-compulsive feeling that you cannot let this go and let those selves die, you will not only attain inner peace, but you will also attain a clarity of vision that you cannot have right now because the selves are obscuring you from seeing what is the optimal way to deal with the situation.
I am not telling you to abandon the lawsuit or not abandon the lawsuit. I am telling you to remove the blocks in your psychology that prevent you from seeing the issue clearly and then making a decision: what you want to do.
