Is this a valid spiritual practice?

Question: I was led to experiment with how I could deal with some weakness of mine. And this is, first of all, to not see them as outside myself. With this, I had to acknowledge that this was something I suffered under and that I wanted to be in command and not it’s slave. But as I took it in, as I allowed it inside my space of being, I found that I stopped fighting it naturally, for it did not make sense to battle with myself.

Then I was prompted to go a step further and I dared to take it even into my heart. And the result took me aback quite a bit, for as I did, I found no traces of any ongoing fight in me at all. It seemed as if the weakness, with its unfulfilled desire of expression, seemed to have cancelled itself out, was sort of completed by the very fact that I had taken it into my heart. Can you please comment on this practice? Is this a valid practice, which it seems to be for me, but I am not sure whether I should encourage others to do likewise. For I could imagine if a person does not have the necessary conviction that the heart is sacred and could never be contaminated, that this could turn out to be detrimental to him. I think it does indeed depend on the level of consciousness of the person in question as well as on the type of weakness I was prompted to use it with, because this was not something that I was afraid of, it was simply annoying me. And with this I had, of course, no qualms with taking it into my heart.

I ask your advice on this, because I feel if I do not speak out, we might just miss an opportunity of effectively dealing with an aspect of our psychology that is holding us back.

Answer from the Ascended Master Mother Mary through Kim Michaels. This answer was given during the 2025 USA Conference.

It is a valid practice, but it cannot be used indiscriminately, as you correctly have seen. But if you take what we have actually given you about how to resolve subconscious selves, you will see that although you are using slightly different words, we are actually talking about much the same thing.

First of all, you stop seeing that a problem is outside yourself. You acknowledge that it is something you have in yourself. Then you deal with the energy by giving the invocations and decrees to dissolve the energy, so you can see the underlying belief more clearly. And then you could say that as you come to see the illusion behind the self more clearly, you are not fighting the self. We have, in fact, never encouraged you to fight the self. You are accepting it for what it is. You are accepting that you took on this illusion for a reason. You are not blaming yourself. Therefore, when you say fighting it, you could also say you are not seeking to suppress it. You are really acknowledging that you have this illusion in your being, whether it is in your heart or elsewhere, and you do not judge yourself for it. You just see the illusion neutrally and you let it go. And then it is dissolved.

But that requires you to be at a certain level of the path. It requires your energies to be at a certain level. In other words, there are people in the New Age movement who have a very similar technique to what you are describing. And they think this can work with everything, including, for example, a demon. You should take any dark energy into your heart, and it will be dissolved. But this, as you point out, could be detrimental to people. Because how do you dissolve a demon? You can dissolve a self based on an illusion, but the demon was created by other people or even fallen beings. It does not have free will. It is not going to be dissolved by you taking it in, but you can take on some of the energy and it can open you up.

You have to be careful. But when it comes to issues in your own psychology, yes, it can be. If your process helps you more than the process we have described in the books, then, by all means, use it. It is just a matter of what opens you up to coming to the point where you see something, and instead of trying to suppress it, you acknowledge that it is there and then you let it go. Whatever works for you to get you through that process, use it. You are, of course, welcome to speak about this to other people, but just be careful to help them see that it is not a matter of taking things in that are outside yourself. You can take things into your heart that are in your own four lower bodies, but not something that was created in your four lower bodies, not something that was created outside and that you take in. You have to be discriminatory with this because you cannot dissolve dark forces by taking them into your heart. That is a naive belief and a dangerous one. You can dissolve dark forces by giving calls to Archangel Michael and Astraea, so they can do it for you.
