Question: Was Job a fictional character? Reading the Book of Job sounds like an allegory. If Job was a fictional character, what was the purpose of this story? What can we learn from it, if anything?

Yes, Job was a fictional character. And the entire Book of Job and the entire idea that God intentionally puts people into these very difficult trials is really not something that comes from the ascended masters. It is clear that there are people who can relate to this because they have had a difficult life and because they have this attitude that everything is according to God’s will. If something bad happens in their lives, it must be God who wills it. Since this happened to Job and he was eventually exonerated in the end, they hope this will happen to them also if they withstand all of these trials.
But to be blunt, this is simply something that was inspired by the fallen beings in order to defend their angry God in the sky, this personal God who will send people to hell if they do not obey him, but will take them to heaven if they pass all of their tests.
The reality that we teach is that God is not the one who creates the difficulties in your life. It is a reflection of your state of consciousness and what you project into the cosmic mirror. Instead of just enduring the trials and remaining faithful to this non-existent God, you need to look at your psychology, look at your consciousness, overcome the separate selves and change what you are projecting out.
