Question: There was a time in the past where I clearly felt my heart sparkle and flutter with a clear physical sensation in what I believed was the Presence of Mother Mary and the ascended masters. Today the connection to Mother Mary and the ascended masters is more subtle and appears less physical. At first I was concerned that the expression was not the same as before. Then realized this was an opportunity to release my expectations and continue to tune in to the Masters, know they are present and realize their connection may be expressed in many ways as I too have changed. My question is, is this a natural process of adjusting and growing our connection to ourselves and the ascended masters?
Answer from the Ascended Master Mother Mary through Kim Michaels. This answer was given during the 2023 Korean Conference.
It is indeed very natural that as you grow on the path, your sense of connection and your experiences of the spiritual path will change. As the Messenger describes, when you raise your consciousness, you become more and more neutral, you do not have the ups and downs. As part of this process, it is natural that you do not have as dramatic or as physical of a sensation of connection to the ascended masters.
When your consciousness is lower, you may need some more physical or dramatic sensation in order to even notice the connection. But as you clear out your psychology, you will begin to have a more gentle, more subtle sense of connection of just sensing our Presence. Many people can in the beginning, when they are new to the path, they can feel that they get directions in the form of words, worded statements. But as you grow on the path, your connection, your directions become more subtle. It is more a Presence, more a sense of vibration that gives you a sense of our Presence, our energy and a frame of reference for evaluating situations.
You can as a guideline say that in the beginning, many people are enthusiastic about the path and become very open. This is so much similar to when you fall in love and all of a sudden the world seems different, more colorful, and you are more open to the other person. Likewise, many people who are new to the path can be more open to us, but because their consciousness is lower, they need more of a worded statement that often does not even come to us, but comes from their I AM Presence or Christ Self.
But as you raise your consciousness, you need to realize that part of raising your consciousness and increasing your attunement, increasing your discernment, is that you take more responsibility for making your own decision. This means that in the beginning you might feel that we are giving you specific directions on what to do, but this would naturally fade away as you raise your consciousness because now you need to decide what you want to do, what you are willing to do.
The question is, can you make that switch? Some students cannot and will not take responsibility for themselves. They demand that they should have the same connection they had in the beginning, or even a more clear connection, where they basically want us to tell them what to do in many situations so they cannot make a mistake. In that case we must withdraw from such a student until they take responsibility for making their own decisions and therefore use us only as a frame of reference, not expecting to be told what to do or not to do.
