How to free yourself from the lower spirits

Question: Will the self-mastery course help me overcome the possessed state by outer spirits, or the state of being possessed by outer spirits? If a possessed person goes through the Self-Mastery course and grows in consciousness, can a person be freed from the possession?

Answer from the Ascended Master Jesus Christ through Kim Michaels. This answer was given during the 2023 Korean Conference.

Yes, it is possible, but there is no guarantee. The Self-Mastery course is specifically given for people to take them from the 48th to the 96th level of consciousness. You can, of course, find this course if you are at a lower level of consciousness than the 48th. You can also benefit from following the course even if you are at a lower level of consciousness. The reason why I am saying this is that if you are at the 48th level of consciousness, you are not possessed by a lower spirit. You have transcended the level where you will allow an external spirit to possess you. Therefore, you are below the 48th level of consciousness if you feel you are possessed. You can benefit from doing the course, but I strongly recommend that you either supplement the course or that before you start the course, you engage in a more serious practice of using the decrees and invocations to Archangel Michael and Astrea in a very determined manner to overcome this possession.

But I also recommend that you try to find out what it is that makes you vulnerable. Why did you invite such a being into your mind? What did you hope to accomplish by allowing an external spirit to enter your forcefield? I know many people will say: “I did nothing to allow this, it forced itself upon me”. But that simply is not correct. In the physical octave, other people can walk up to you and slap you on one cheek and there is nothing you can do to stop it other than take physical action. But when it comes to your emotional, mental and identity minds, a disembodied entity cannot enter unless you allow it to happen. You may not be consciously aware that you allowed it, but you did allow it because you had some kind of belief.

There are two main beliefs that allow this possession. Either there is this where people sell their souls to the devil because they want to have power or a special ability in this world. And this spirit says: “I will give you this power. I will give you this ability to play this special form of music that will hypnotize people or I will give you the ability to make lots of money, if you will give me your soul.” The other is that people can go into a state where they do not want to make decisions. They do not want to take responsibility for themselves and, therefore, they say to a spirit: “You come in and make decisions for me. I do not want to make decisions.”

Either state is an illusion, of course, but either state is unfortunately putting yourself in the School of Hard Knocks. How hard do the knocks have to become? How hard do the knocks have to become before you realize that this special ability that you wanted did not actually give you what you really wanted, but now you are possessed by this entity, you are tied to this entity and how do you break that?

You can, of course, break it because there is no such thing as making a deal with the devil. We have explained many times that free will is free. You cannot make a choice that you cannot transcend by making a more aware choice. It does not matter what the spirit tells you, what the devil tells you, what other people or what books tell you. You have a right, at any moment, to say: “I may have made a deal with the devil in a past life or even in this life, but I am breaking the deal right now.” This is your right. And then, you can start freeing yourself from it. But you cannot do it by your own power. You must call to the ascended masters.

If you have decided not to make decisions, again, you can break that deal but you can only do it by making a decision! To really be free of these possessing entities, you must come to that point where either you are breaking the deal or you are done with having an excuse for not taking responsibility for yourself.

For most people, spirit possession is just that, a convenient excuse: “I cannot do this because I am possessed by the spirit and it does this and it does that.” But you can, if you are willing. We can help you and we will help you, but we cannot help you unless first of all, you must ask. Second of all, you must be willing to take responsibility for yourself and make decisions. Otherwise, we cannot help you. We cannot help you against free will. You must reclaim your free will and then use it to authorize us to help you. And that means you must come to see the reason why you allowed this to happen to you. We have given many teachings that you can use—many teachings that you can use. Make use of them until you come to that clarity where you can make a new decision to start a new phase of your life and free yourself from this.
