Question: Our masters tell us about the absoluteness of freedom in all aspects of our lives. We are always free even when we choose not to be free, like when we fall in consciousness because there is no choice we cannot undo in a material and not ascended universes. But many times, we do not understand the meaning of this. For instance, at a certain level of the spiritual path, we can no longer follow a continuous process because we are in a kind of crossroad. We are required to choose to make a quantum leap to choose between the oneness that we began to experience with our divine presence and the attachment to the separate self that implies the beginning of a downward spiral to duality and selfishness. And this choice can determine if we choose to elevate the ego that we are going to live many lifetimes lost in the illusions of duality and suffering. But to choose, is it not, we must, at this point, have a real experience of oneness and deliberately turn our backs to life and the love of God? Because this does not seem a choice we can make out of ignorance. But a devious and deliberate lie that the being tells him or herself and to all others that after that he or she will manipulate in order to feel better and superior, more superior than all life. Was this the way that the first beings, fell in the fourth sphere, a fall from hubris, not from mere misunderstanding of God’s law of free will. So, when we are not yet ascended, we can be in oneness relatively and after that fall.

We have given various teachings on how various groups of beings fell in previous spheres. Your description of making this very dramatic choice between oneness and separation is not actually correct. You are not having a high degree of oneness before you make the decision to go into duality.
If you look at what we have said, we have said that at the 48th level, you have a point like sense of self, a very narrow sense of self, which means that you have a sense you are connected to something greater than yourself, but you do not have a clear sense of oneness with your I AM Presence. If you had a clear sense of oneness, you could not choose to go into duality. You can choose to go into duality only when it seems like not a big dramatic shift. And you can say that the step from the 48th to the 47th is not a huge step in a certain way, but it is a fundamental shift in how you see yourself. Of course, it is much easier to go back from the 47th to the 48th level than from the 10th level to the 48th level. It is not an all or nothing thing, it is not like you instantly fall down. You walk the path by taking one step at a time up the levels of consciousness, you descend the path by taking one step at a time down.
It is different when you talk about fallen beings, because fallen beings had created this sense of illusion and it is correct that they had the sense of hubris that they thought they knew better than anyone else, they had created their own reality. But they are not confronted with oneness as a contrast to their self-created reality. They are confronted by the ascended masters, and we show them that there is something outside of their illusion. But this is still not the same as them experiencing oneness with their higher selves.
You need to, if you want to understand this in a deeper way, look at the teachings we have given on this, and read them very carefully, and you will gain a bigger understanding of these issues.
