Question: Please comment on the use of church candles. According to an ascended master’s teachings, there are many manifestations of the consciousness of the anti-Christ in the churches. In this case, can church candles be effective?

Church candles can be effective in lighting up a dark space so you do not trip over your own legs when you are walking in the church. To say that church candles have any holy effect or that they do anything for saints or for God is, of course, a fiction. How could I, as an ascended master, need people to light a candle for me in any church on earth? How could I possibly have that need? How could Mother Mary have a need to have candles lit to her in any Catholic church? It is fiction, but again, as everything else there can be a placebo effect.
For the general believer out there, it is not an important issue for us whether they light a candle or not. It would be much more important if they could raise their consciousness and their awareness, but they are not able to do this. The fact that they believe in these outer things, whether it is candles or holy water or this ritual or that ritual, shows that they are at the level of consciousness, where they are not ready to receive the inner teachings that I expounded to my disciples. They are still trapped in a level of needing parables and outer things, and therefore they are unreachable to the ascended masters. We are not really concerned about it. But, of course, when you ask the question as an ascended master student, it is complete fiction. It has no effect.
We are not saying that you should not light a candle if you feel like it, but do not get into the mindset that this somehow gets us to give you some kind of grace or favors. It has nothing to do with it. We want you to shift your consciousness and it is shifting your consciousness that has an effect on your life. Even if someone drinks water that they think is holy and they are healed, it was not the water that did it. It was because the person shifted his or her consciousness at least momentarily. Often you will see that such healings are not lasting, that the condition reappears after some time. We are looking for a permanent raising of consciousness, and that is what all our teachings are aimed at producing.
