Balance between entertainment and creative activities

Question: I apply the teachings of the ascended masters, including practices and participation in videos and webinars. I share ideas online with many people and sincerely desire to uplift the whole, and of course to resolve my own psychology. At the same time, I also simply enjoy doing things because they are pleasant, for example, playing computer games or watching TV series. I allow myself to be imperfect at times on this rather challenging and unnatural planet. I understand that sometimes I direct my energy towards activities that cannot necessarily be multiplied or reinforced by spiritual teachers, yet I also have enough time and opportunity to express myself in more creative and elevated ways. Moreover, I can use spiritual tools to transform imperfect energy. If I were to open a new chapter of my Divine plan, I believe I would devote more time to creativity. At present, however, I find myself spending more time on entertainment. Could you please comment on this?

Answer from the Ascended Master Mother Mary through Kim Michaels. This answer was given during the 2026 Kazakhstan Conference.

Well, for all people, there is a need to find a certain balance in life. We have, over the many decades we have released teachings, seen many students who find the teachings, realize what it is about, dedicate themselves to a very strict program of living a certain way, giving decrees, studying the teachings and so forth. And many people become unbalanced about it so that they cannot sustain it over time. They sort of, so to speak, crash and burn because they are very eager for a while and then they must stop completely or scale it down.

Everybody needs to find their own balance. And it is correct, of course, that this is a difficult and challenging planet to be on. You need to find your own balance between what you might call entertainment and spiritual activities or creative activities.

It is, however, also correct that your life plan has stages. It may very well be that there comes a time where you begin to feel like you need to step up to a higher level or you become frustrated and dissatisfied with where you are at. And that is then when you need to try and step back and intuitively grasp what is the next phase of your Divine plan.

You need to then sense whether it is time to be more creative and therefore you need to let go of activities that take away your attention, your time, your energy. And of course, many entertaining activities are not necessarily created for the specific purpose of draining your energy, but this is often the effect of some of the music, the TV series, the movies or the computer games that are out there. Computer games can especially be a drain on your energy because they are designed to keep you playing, to draw you in. You can, of course, say television is designed to keep you watching and so forth. But there is a certain element of computer games that you need to be aware of in that they have an addictive quality because they are designed so that it is very difficult to master them and therefore you can, as many people do, decide that: “Oh, I have to master this game, I have to beat the game,” and therefore you keep playing until you do or until you no longer want to spend your time that way. Really it is a matter of you sensing intuitively rather than deciding with the outer mind.
